“I followed my instincts and I ignored that recommendation.” 😂 Lol! I know the feeling
I feel like I my kids are usually around when something goes wrong because dad was being cheap
Looks like a good crew to work for. great explanation and execution. Thanks for sharing
Thanks man! Im blessed with a great crew of family and friends !
This video had a lot of exactly what I was looking for. I liked and subscribed because I’ll attempt to do this my self in the future and I can also relate to the slow and steady progress of a small channel. It all looked great!
Thanks man!
Great video. Surprised it hasn’t gotten more views
Hey thanks! Yeah, this one has been slow and steady
I love the look of exposed aggregate. Thanks for the video
Thanks! I like it too
Very good explanation of how to do the whole process
Thank you!
This guy is really smart!!!
Not this guy!
Looks Fantastic!!
Thank you
Great job! Beautiful!!!
Hey, thanks!
Lovely finish! Well done! Watching from the UK.
Thank you! Is this type of finish common in the UK?
Excellent work! Thank you for the video!
Thanks man!
You did an excellent job
Thank you!
Great video. May I suggest not using the wooden hand made thing you used before the bullfloat. What you’re using is essentially a jitterbug, which brings more cream up to the surface, amazing for finishing but the stones will then drop below the surface and then you might not get an even wash later.
Instead of doing that, wood float or bullfloat one extra time. There were some trowel marks left even after the rinse. You can eliminate those by going over it one extra time and not doing the jitterbug 👍🏽
I appreciate the tip! I struggle with having lots of 'holes' after we screed that do not get closed up after we bull float........exposed aggregate is so counter intuitive to how I learned to finish concrete! I'm always learning, thanks again.
Awesome vid lots of important tips😊
Thank you! My goal was to be heavy on usefulness!
beautiful!!!
Thanks Mr B!
Brilliant!
Thank you!
Can you link the sealer that you used? Thanks! Awesome video. Super helpful
The name of the product that I used is Vexcon by Chem masters. It is the brown aggregate sealer. I searched around and it isn't something amazon ships. The store that I bought it from has local pickup only. Thanks for watching!

CZeść, dziękuję za pokazanie jak to zrobić. U nas w Polsce nie jest to w ogóle popularne. Będę robił 800 m. Szkoda jeszcze że u nas nie ma takich pomp do betonu zastępujących taczki.. Pozdrawiam
Brother, I don’t know what any of this means, but I like your style!
Great pouring. Well done. Have you tried “seeding “ the agregate? I Need to do a sidewalk but dont wanna spend lots of money on gravel
Thank you! I have done ‘seeding’ on some stepping stones that I made with quickcrete. I have a video on my page somewhere. If you’re ordering a truck, it’s only a few extra bucks a yard for the pebbles. Let me know how it goes!
Do you think an acid wash would have helped at all? Doing this tomorrow and wondering if I should pick up some acid just in case.
I have heard the finish comes out darker…… not as dark as the stain I used. If you try it, let me know what you think. I was actually thinking of testing a small piece
I’ll just stick with brushed finish. My driveway is aggregate and looks ok
Yeah….. a driveway might be too much. I like a nice exposed patio or sidewalk though
is there a reason why you cut joints the next day instead of using a joint tool while the concrete is still wet? Just curious as I am looking to do something similar to this for a small walkway.
Yeah, there is just so much going on during the pour. I don’t take the chance screwing up wet control joints, it’s actually not too bad cutting the concrete with the saw
Mornings what is your mix ratio if I my ask
From a truck, I get a 6 bag mix with pea gravel…… I believe the ratio is around 70percent pea gravel to 30 percent sand
Where in Michigan are you? I might need help with mine!
My residence depends on your level of concrete experience 😬
@@thedustybuilder I've done concrete plenty of times but never exposed aggregate. North of Muskegon
@@mattsimon6959 my grandparents lived in Muskegon! I’m metro Detroit…… might be a little far. Let me know how it goes…… pick a cool day if possible!
I love it, how can I find that camical
At your friendly local concrete supply store! Thanks for watching
do you cut in control joints when you do exposed aggregate?
Yes, I did a few days after the pour
What does the retarder do will it still work without a retarder?
It prevents the top layer from curing so you can wash the cream away to 'expose the aggregate'. I'm sure it can be done without the retarder.......but if you wanted to save money , just using Coke has proven to work just as well.
Here is the link for the connection on the wood float / rake / screed a.co/d/6ezFD3G
Thanks for this video, definitely useful. But it's especially, not expecially.
lol, I never knew I said it like that!
