This video is sooo useful to me as I am trying to see if biomedical science is the suitable degree for me. All of the other youtubers who did a biomedical science degree didn't give me the inspirational feeling this video gave me, so thank you soooo much
Thankyou so much... ❤ I'm currently going to pursue biomedical science and i was damn confused about my course.. But now I got the nerve I'm really glad I found your video✨❤ This gives me so much confidence now❤
Hey so I am leaving it very late to apply to university. I have had a lot of technical issues as of recently and have had to restart my whole application. I have an AWFUL habit of leaving assignments to the last minute. I will give myself the day of or the day before before I start work on the assignment. I have always done well doing it this way which isnt good. I'm doing a level 3 extended diploma in animal management but we do a lot of science stuff. Just worried about being able to complete the course. I'm going to go for a foundation year. I think it would be awesome to do a PhD in science but have no idea if I'm good enough. I'm good at manual labor and working to a deadline that's about it
hey lol i actually failed my med exam this year so i took biomed. I have my last attempts next yr and i really hope i pass bcz i do not want to do biomedical :/ If i fail again, i cant attemp the exact during 5yrs which is like 6yr "waste"
Hi kenji! I absolutely love your videos they inspire me so much..i am actually looking forward to study biomedical sciences in the uk as an international student and let me tell u i am pretty nervous😅.
Hi Kenji, I'm planning to do Biomedicine at university after y13 (hopefully in 2021 September). I am a bit anxious after all the points you made (not your fault - just the harsh reality I guess). I was wondering if Biomed courses are all mainly coursework based or if that is a preference of Birmigham and the way they do it. I personally do not want to pursue medicine after the degree and have heard many people say the job prospects are very slim if I only have a biomedicine degree. Of course it is going to be hard, but I just want to make sure I don't hit a dead end. Also, was the balance between social and work life good for you? You mentioned how the course is very challenging but I also want to make sure I have time to travel/make some unforgettable memories, if that makes sense. I am definitely prepared to put all the work in but just want to gather as much information about the course before applying obviously. There are so many universities to choose from, it's a bit overwhelming. But thank you for all the videos, you've been really helpful!
honestly same. these were the exact same doubts i had. i really love the course and the modules, and everything it entails but i’m so afraid whether i’ll be able to have some sort of social life and whether the prospects for jobs after just a Biomed degree is low. xx
@@aminarosh6780 So are you currently also a Y13 student starting in September also? Because I literally don't know what else I'd do lol. Maybe Biochemistry, but I feel like I could change during my first year of University if I didn't like the Biomed course since they're so similar. So I really want to do it, but I literally don't know what I'm going to do after the degree loooool. What do you suggest ahah? Plus how am i supposed to narrow down the Universities? There are sooo many, and I simply don't know where to start. Thanks for replying xoxo
yesss, i’m also finishing up A levels this year and planning to go this September. i first chose biochemistry as well, but i really loved what each module entails in BioMedical Sciences. and the human body is what interested me the most so i thought it would be a better decision. but i’m kinda having second thoughts hehe. also the way i narrowed down universities was based on Modules, Entry Requirements and overall prospects for that course in that university. You can look at the UK uni rankings for Biomedical sciences/ Biochemistry and choose the ones that are applicable. then you really need to go through the modules make sure you really like what you’ll be doing in years 1 through 3. and whether the components interest you. then check the entry requirements, to see whether you can actually achieve those grades or whether you can definitely do better than them. and once you’ve got some down.. i’m pretty sure you will be able to narrow down 5!
@@aminarosh6780 thank you so much! due to covid, we haven't had much support from school and i'm literally just winging it at this point so i'll follow that advice. it makes sense. researching can be super time-consuming and whenever i think about uni, I get super anxious. but thank you for the help! do you personally have any university recommendations (i don't particularly want to be a 'biomedical scientist', and for that you need to have an accredited course which i'm not too bothered about). but thanks again xoxo
In terms of job prospects after doing a biomedical science degree, I would just say decide what type of work you would be more inclined to do and do your research well in advance. At the very least make sure that your university is accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), as if you did want to go into a biomedical science related field, you would need to do top up modules, which essentially is a waste of time and money. The second thing I would say is decide if you want to work as a biomedical scientist or any other healthcare scientist. If the answer is yes, chances are you would need complete a HCPC registration portfolio. In London it is very competitive finding an opportunity to do this after you graduate. So if you are interested in going into the field, do a placement year and try and complete your portfolio if you have the opportunity! This will increase your employment opportunities once you graduate 😊
amazing video, very informative and to the point. can you do a video about the differences between biomedical science, microbiology & biochemistry? thanks.
Hi thanks for your videos! I am starting my biomedical science studies at Northumbria University this year. I hope all will go well through. I am also having same ambitious to go to medicine , but I start biomedical science because my grades aren't good hehe :D I am also plannning to start a blog and hopefully a youtube or instagram ^_^ Thank you for inspiration!
Hey Kenji you always give me strength when things aren’t going to plan but I’ll be starting biomed in September so I can apply to graduate medicine as I didn’t get the grades this year (one grade off 😭) thank you for making these videos they’re super helpful to me ☺️
Hey.. I did well at GCSE but At A levels I couldn't do so well because of covid i had no teachers... So I cannot get med... but My passion is research on science and on the other hand serve people for their health I thought of going to biomed or biology... maybe within next 20 years I could be a surgeon... I don't want to live for work but Work to live so going to invest on other and collect revenue and profit throughout...
I've been accepted into biomedical science for next year, and I noticed at this particular university that there is a unit of mathematics. Did you find that there was a lot of maths within this course, and if so was it incredibly difficult?
I'm about to start my biomedical science course at Sheffield. I didn't get into undergrad medicine so I'm planing on doing medicine after the biomedical degree. I'm feeling very unsure about my decision and ideally just want to be doing medicine. Do you have any advice?
After you finish a master in Medicine, even a PhD, can you get a job as a medical doctor? I met a guy with biomedical science, PhD in nephrology, and finally, he became a Science teacher in a Secondary school uh...I would not study so much to become a Secondary teacher.
Thank you for the video! I’ll be going on to study biomedical science at Uni of Birmingham this year :) so excited yet nervous. Do you have any videos or useful web links on how to improve essay skills?
Thank you! Here's my video: m.ruclips.net/video/vqYuuueg9yw/видео.html. I also have an e-book on how to write an essay on my website www.kenjitomita.co.uk/shop
I did biomedical science route human biology and I look back and think how on earth did I do that! It was crazy.....good luck to all who venture this way. And btw, it's bloody hard core!
Having looked on the HCPC website, Westminster is one of the few (if only?) universities in London that offer an accredited HCPC degree, which is what you need to actually work as a registered Biomedical Scientist. Sounds like a no-brainer, then I looked at university rankings and unfortunately Westminster is one of the lowest in the country.. Study at Westminster and have a HCPC accredited degree or study somewhere with a higher ranking but not accredited... Difficult choice
Amazing video, it was very insightful! Does the website cover notes for Biomedical Science Years 1-3, or is it just for Medicine (Saw the bundle and was a bit confused)
Thanks so much! It's my medicine notes but year 1 of medicine was basically the same as year 1 of biomed so my notes were almost identical. I'd recommend them to anyone looking to start biomed
What made you decide to do biomed and then medicine? Was it simply a decision you made later or was it strategical? I’m hoping to take the same route as you so I was just wondering :)
Hey I wanted to ask if you thought there were other alternatives science degrees that can lead into medicine, I was looking at biomedical science but also noticed that some universities accept other degrees such as neuroscience, medical pharmacology and BioChemistry I wanted know if you thought these were as credible as Biomedical Science or if Biomedical Science is likely the most reputable of the medical sciences degree that can be used for graduate entry into medicine ?
Medicine is a WIDE field! You would be able to find something an area where mild tremors do not cause a concern to the care of anyone. Trust me, you're all good. :)
Thanks Kenji. Your videos have helped me nail my decision. I am a medical doctor with a personality that does not suit interacting with people. I would rather be sat in the lab working at something and writing. So I am working towards getting into biomed science via a masters in medical microbiology from an IBMS accredited university.Do you have any further advice for someone in my situation?
Hi Kenji! I wanted to ask would you turn down a Less prestigious medical school for Kings Biomed and whether there would be a chance to do research opportunities in/after Med school as well. BTW really love ur videos, please keep up the good content!
It depends on what my other reasons are but I'd definitely put a lot of priority onto a more prestigious uni :) And there would definitely be a lot of research opportunities! Here is a playlist talking about research opportunities: ruclips.net/p/PL57_jQXQ7eGjs-NETJKlDr5L7LtCkOF91 . Thanks so much!!
Hey, I'm new to tour channel. I absolutely loved this video and thank you so much for speaking about this as I'm applying to biomed degree next year 😄😄😄
Hi I love all your videos! I’m currently considering if I want to go into business or medicine and it’s great to get your inside view. I was just wondering what grades did u get for you GCSE’s? And did they impact you in any way? I’m getting my grades next week and because of corona I know I’m not going to get the grades I wanted so I’m nervous that it’s going to affect me.
Thanks so much! Here is a video about my grades: ruclips.net/video/rmiUS8j0i7o/видео.html . If you apply for medicine as a graduate your GCSEs don't really matter that much. If you apply as an undergraduate then they are relatively important. Each uni has their own GCSE requirements so check out their website entry requirements :)
Hello kenji, big fan of your channel so I am going to be starting biomedical science in a few months and basically I wanted to ask if your notes that your selling comes with all the notes I need for my first year cause I am thinking of making a purchase before the semester starts .pls and thank you
Hello, I am going to apply for Biomedical science degree next year. Are there any textbooks you would recommend? I would really like to start preparing myself in advance. Thank you very much for your help!
ahh!! so relaxed after seeing this video! otherwise the videos on youtube just scare the sh*T OUUTA ME as if this degree is the world's worst degree and i will only get 3 dollars per month as a salary! p.s can anyone tell me what's the (not from the web's) salary after studying biomed as an undergraduate in UK?
Thank You so much for the video. I'm thinking of starting Bio Medical science, and this was really insightful. Could you please point out some possible career paths after doing BMS without doing medicine?
Do i have to take chem and biology bc I hate chemistry. Also ik if you do biomedical you can honestly go into so many different jobs but I don’t want to go into medicine. But so many universities offer biological science but I literally don’t know what that is are they the same ?
It depends on the uni, some need chem and some don't. Biomed doesn't have plants and animals in the curriculum its more human biology related to medicine. Have a look at the curriculums on the uni websites
Can you get into biomedicine with a medicine personal statement. I’m applying kcl, st George for medicine and queen Mary, UCL and imperial for biomedicine?
Hey Kenji! Your videos are amazing!!❤. Currently I am doing Bsc in zoology. Could you please tell me if I am eligible to apply for post graduation in biomed?
Good day Sir Kenji Tomita! All students are required to do Dissertation whether they are studying as Bachelors, Masters, or a Doctorate Degree? Thanks in advance!
Hello, hope you are well. I'm a bit confused as to what you meant comparing the coursework for Biomed to Medicine. Are you saying that medicine has way more coursework than Biomed at Kings College?
hi kenji , I love your videos btw , I wanted to ask for your exams in biomed I've heard that some exams are essays. And if so what advice would you give to tackle them as essays are not my strong point.
Hey! In second year we had 1 essay as part of our exams which also had multiple choice questions and short answer questions. In final year all our exams were only essay based. I'd recommend learning a strategy to essay writing, you can start here:ruclips.net/video/vqYuuueg9yw/видео.html
How would you say biomed compares to neuroscience as I’m going to study this then hopefully graduate medicine , would you say it’s probably going to be similar ?
if im doing btec applied science in sixth form and do biomedical science in uni is it possible for me to do medicine? My gcses grades weren’t good enough
I'm considering Biomedical science as a occupation for the future. my math skills however isn't the best. If anyone could help me by answering if mathematics is important for this course/degree I would truly appreciate it.
I am not studying biomedical science but I have looked into it for uni. I would say that obviously you need some sort of maths skills since you will be doing lots of research and practical, but you don't need to be A-level maths type of person. You will get guidance from many.
I have a first class honours in Biomedical Science, and I never thought I was great at maths, but it's actually not all that bad... If you like statistics you'll be okay.
What career can you get from Biomedical science. I’m going to University next year. I want to do immunology in future. My course is a BSc Hons and has over 50% coursework.
There are many job opportunities after biomedical science. I actually have a video on this over on my channel. I just personally always wanted to become a doctor, it was my dream 😁

Butterfly Simmer same! I’m on my last year for applied science and I also want to do Biomed to get into medicine :) are you planning to do the whole 3 year course or transfer into medicine after first year?
Me just starting college already worried about what I'm going to do in uni 😓
hum hi, so I'm not British and I'm a bit confused by your system, but I want to graduate there, so could you explain what's the difference between college and uni? Also, I've seen many people talking about undergraduate and I'm not sure what does it mean can you help me? If you're comfortable w it ofc (not a native English speaker too, sorry)

I got accepted into biomed at kings and completely worried about the stress! I applied as a joke; did an access course last year and didn’t think I’d pass yet alone meet the requirements 😂
Are you at kings now? Is it fun to study biomed there?

Thank you, i am finishing highschool and watching your videos is helping me a lot! I needed this, espécialos bc i have anxiety problems but watching this is making me being prepared so I dont go through that, our that if I go through that it wont be as bad as it could be! And dont listen to the ppl saying that biomedicine is just for ppl who couldnt do medicine! Ppl like that are not worth it and they wont gros in life,bc thats bringing ppl down! Thank you very much, it really gave me a lot of motivation to apply for Biomedical Science.
You are most welcome
Thanks bro...I will be going for interview next week
Absolutely love your videos! Its such a great help for those who are thinking to pursue biomedical sciences💕
Thank you so much 😁
Thank you so much for the explanation for each year. Means a lott man
You’re very welcome! :)
This video is sooo useful to me as I am trying to see if biomedical science is the suitable degree for me. All of the other youtubers who did a biomedical science degree didn't give me the inspirational feeling this video gave me, so thank you soooo much

I'm currently going to pursue biomedical science and i was damn confused about my course.. But now I got the nerve
I'm really glad I found your video✨❤
This gives me so much confidence now❤
Hey so I am leaving it very late to apply to university.
You got this!!
This man was not wrong about the amount of coursework there is.... Pls just give me one month where we don't have an essay to hand in I beg you PLS :(
Hi kenji! I absolutely love your videos they inspire me so much..i am actually looking forward to study biomedical sciences in the uk as an international student and let me tell u i am pretty nervous😅.

I've been predicted abb so I think I'll apply to biomed then post grad medicine but I'm a bit worried about the student loans
Do foundation medicine. GEM is so competitive
Hi Kenji,
I'm planning to do Biomedicine at university after y13 (hopefully in 2021 September).
This will increase your employment opportunities once you graduate 😊
amazing video, very informative and to the point. can you do a video about the differences between biomedical science, microbiology & biochemistry? thanks.
I agree !
Hi thanks for your videos! I am starting my biomedical science studies at Northumbria University this year. I hope all will go well through. I am also having same ambitious to go to medicine , but I start biomedical science because my grades aren't good hehe :D I am also plannning to start a blog and hopefully a youtube or instagram ^_^ Thank you for inspiration!
hey have you applied for medicine? how did it go?
did u manage to apply for medicine? how is it going?

I don't want to live for work but Work to live so going to invest on other and collect revenue and profit throughout...
I love this !!
You read ‘the Power of Now’? Cool.
I've been accepted into biomedical science for next year, and I noticed at this particular university that there is a unit of mathematics. Did you find that there was a lot of maths within this course, and if so was it incredibly difficult?
There wasn't much at all and it wasn't difficult!
This was so helpful!! Thank you so much :))
You're welcome 😁
Thank you very much indeed this was so helpful

Having looked on the HCPC website, Westminster is one of the few (if only?) universities in London that offer an accredited HCPC degree, which is what you need to actually work as a registered Biomedical Scientist.
Sounds like a no-brainer, then I looked at university rankings and unfortunately Westminster is one of the lowest in the country.. Study at Westminster and have a HCPC accredited degree or study somewhere with a higher ranking but not accredited... Difficult choice
Heyy how did you manage 😅 I'm starting my first year and biomedical science is the pathway to medicine.
I'd recommend them to anyone looking to start biomed
so helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
What made you decide to do biomed and then medicine? Was it simply a decision you made later or was it strategical? I’m hoping to take the same route as you so I was just wondering :)
I wanted to do Medicine but didn't get the grades!
This is helping me so much!!! I just got my GCSE results and didn’t get the grades i wanted so i need to plan my life out

Hey I wanted to ask if you thought there were other alternatives science degrees that can lead into medicine, I was looking at biomedical science but also noticed that some universities accept other degrees such as neuroscience, medical pharmacology and BioChemistry
I wanted know if you thought these were as credible as Biomedical Science or if Biomedical Science is likely the most reputable of the medical sciences degree that can be used for graduate entry into medicine ?
All the courses you mentioned are feasible and aren't less good than Biomed!
Kenji Tomata, I have a question to ask, sometimes i have mild tremors in my hands should i Study medicine?
I don't see why this would be a problem! :)
To be honest you sound like you're on the right track already. Keep it going!
Thanks Kenji.
I've been offered a place in college for biomedical science. I'm kind of stressed as it's the level 3 extended diploma instead of an A level :,)

Hi Kenji! I wanted to ask would you turn down a Less prestigious medical school for Kings Biomed and whether there would be a chance to do research opportunities in/after Med school as well. BTW really love ur videos, please keep up the good content!

Hello kenji, big fan of your channel so I am going to be starting biomedical science in a few months and basically I wanted to ask if your notes that your selling comes with all the notes I need for my first year cause I am thinking of making a purchase before the semester starts .pls and thank you
They may not be all the notes you need for first year as each university is different but I'd say that it would cover the majority!

hi kenji , I love your videos btw , I wanted to ask for your exams in biomed I've heard that some exams are essays. And if so what advice would you give to tackle them as essays are not my strong point.

Hi, please tell me if you liked school and how much you got in your gcses.
How would you say biomed compares to neuroscience as I’m going to study this then hopefully graduate medicine , would you say it’s probably going to be similar ?
Unfortunately I don't know too much about neuroscience but biomed is definitely going to be more similar to medicine!
if im doing btec applied science in sixth form and do biomedical science in uni is it possible for me to do medicine?
You definitely don't have to be good at maths for Biomed! Just simple high school maths
Top ten things I wish I'd known,
Number 1: university's give you homework
What career can you get from Biomedical science. I’m going to University next year. I want to do immunology in future. My course is a BSc Hons and has over 50% coursework.
