    I appreciate this so much! I am currently in year 12 thinking about my future and the lack of patient aspect is making me re-evaluate this course, however the working conditions and hours are definitely more ideal compared to medicine as you discussed. :)

    Hello, is biomedical science a good degree for being a medical science researcher? Before i was thinking about medicine but i was put off because it was a lengthy course 😅 and also because of my grades (of course). I started wanting to become a science researcher and make vaccines, looking for cures for some diseases/illnesses etc. Would i have to do medicine to be a science researcher? Many thanks 🙂

    • @LifeofHelena
      @LifeofHelena  Год назад +6

      Hello! Yes, biomedical science is a good base to be a medical science researcher. There are other life science degrees that can be useful too.
      Potentially, long term you might need to do follow up degree such as, an MSc or PhD.

    • @TheMothaDuckingHamMan
      @TheMothaDuckingHamMan 5 месяцев назад

      You will likely need some graduate training to stand out for an academic career in a university doing research.
      However, to get into company producing and studying vaccines I am not convinced you need a PhD. If you do a biomed degree I would recommend obtaining a research placement between 2nd and 3rd year, you can modify the project with your supervisor when you complete the dissertation - this sets yourself up to produce some novel research and gives you an idea about the process of research. Of course find your own path, discuss your goals with supervisors. For me, the dissertation was a way to explore the epigenome and it has sent me onto a path of cancer therapeutics :)

      Hi,
      To clarify, jobs are avaliable to be a Biomedical Scientist. But before you get the job you need to have your HCPC registration. If you check the IBMS website they have detail information about the criteria.
      Placement year is advised if you want to complete your portfolio or you can try to complete your portfolio after your degree with a laboratory who are open to help with your portfolio.
      MSc is optional. You'll still need HCPC registration regardless.
      I hope this clarifies everything :)

    DEAR I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COURSE, IS THIS COURSE DIFFICULT OR IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO PART-TIME JOB WHILE STUDYING BIOMEDICAL SCIENCE

    • @LifeofHelena
      @LifeofHelena  Месяц назад

      This is very subjective. Some people find certain modules in biomedical science easier or harder than others. It's a very detailed course with the amount of information you need to know.
      I had a part time job whilst studying (not many hours though - just one day a week). You have to make sure you are on track with studying if you would like to work alongside and be a full time student (my personal option).
