    I've made a few different recipes for Cumin Rice and I think this is the best I've made! I often make Cumin Rice to have with Mexican dishes and the two go well together! I converted this to an Instant Pot recipe by sauteeing everything like you did in the pan on the stove in the IP and just cooked the rice the way I cook rice and it turned out well! Posting on my page and the Instant Pot Community page on FB with a link back to this video. Thanks for yet another amazing recipe!!! My very best wishes to you and yours!!!

    Am making another batch today. Thank you sooo much! ❤

    I failed on my 1st attempt of cumin rice years ago. But now I trully love the spice, and with this recipe of yours, I think I can make it properly. I can imagine the taste from this video.

    • @kayebee4794
      @kayebee4794 8 месяцев назад

      Success! Some recipe required some bay leaves, cardamom, etc. Some needs butter. But this recipe of yours: only cumin and coriander, chili powder is simplest but the most spot on. The taste of cumin plus coriander leaves is enough to eat the cumin rice on its own.

    Hi chetna, thanks so much for sharing this lovely recipe… is it possible to have this cooked in a rice cooker vs over the stove? Ie after frying the spice over the stove, then transfer to the rice cooker and let it do its thing? Thks!!

    • @Red_Snappa
      @Red_Snappa 10 месяцев назад +1

      ALWAYS wash the rice, it removes the starch and stops the rice clumping up. I also also soak it for about 20-30mins prior to cooking it too.

  • @peteblue2621

    That’s a lot of water you used for the rice? Yours turned out perfect but mine was mushy. I always thought the ratio for coking rice was 1 ½ cups water for every 1 cup white rice? And it needs to be soaked first? Rice cooking confuses me. Help!

    • @ShaqItGood
      @ShaqItGood 6 месяцев назад +2

      Maybe you did not let it simmer. You got to let rice sit for a good 15 mins after getting cooked for the excess water to evaporate.

    • @Jessejrt1
      @Jessejrt1 6 месяцев назад

      I found my rice also a bit too mushy for my taste. I prefer my rice al dente like the Italian pastas, and idid let it rest. Other than that, delicious and will definitely make again with less water!

    • @housebrigade
      @housebrigade 13 дней назад

      First time I made it it was super mushy. Way too much water. I still make this recipe but I now add onions and fry them in the oil and 2.5 cups of water and then rice cubes or tasting amazing with the perfect texture

      It so nice when you subscribe to some one channel and they actually reply to your comments. It shows that they actually care about their viewers. This is why Chetna is amazing she cares about her viewers and she always interested in what they got to say. She actually reads the comments and replies. Could watch her blogs all day everyday and wouldn’t get bored. Even though I brought up in an Indian household and watched my mum cook I still learn a lot from chetna. I loved her from the moment I saw her on bake off. She has this calmer vibe about her she’s funny and so inspirational. And she explains the recipes well.
