Watched the video earlier today, went out to get groceries.... currently feeding myself this lentil dish on plain rice... the spoon is literally working like a conveyor belt because I just can't stop eating this ridiculously simple and delicious recipe! THANK YOU.
Wow, this looks delightful. I personally love broccoli and can’t wait to try the first broccoli recipe on your channel. Thanks for sharing and your continued work on this channel. 😊
Oh, Yum! Happen to have stem broccoli on hand and this recipe is perfect for the hot day it is today. Like you, not a fan of regular broc but LOVE stem broccoli. Thank you Chetna for yet another simple, stellar, yummy recipe!
So, Chetna, I decided to make this tonight even though I had no Broccoli! So I used mixed veg (frozen). Then realised I had no Cumin seeds, only powder. Then realised we can’t get hold of Mango powder so had to use Lemon juice. Made some rice to go with it. Absolutely beautiful, even though I say it myself. The wife loved it too. Many thanks for sharing and its one I shall keep making. Many thanks and stay well.
It's such a beautiful looking dal! I actually love broccoli in dal so I will use your technique which is different from what I usually do. Thanks so much!
Ohhh…I’ll be right over! 😋 Everyone has something they really don’t like. Hopefully it’s a short list! For me it’s mayonnaise, raw cilantro, coffee, and fennel/anise/licorice. 🤷🏻♀️😁
That looks good, I’ll try that next week. Coincidentally I cooked Toor dal for the first time a couple of days ago (your garlic toor dal recipe from “Healthy Indian Vegetarian”) and loved it. I’ve got 2kg of lentils left to cook so perfect timing with this recipe!
Please do more as gluten-free daal w broccoli onions garlic ginger is a superb for many illnesses - many patients can't tolerate medicine & have to use healthy food to heal
Hello Chetna! love and have made so so many of you delicious, lovely recipes from your channel and cook books. I was wondering what size/capacity your pressure cooker is? Love all your recipes so much, thank you for sharing your love of cooking with us xxx
Hi Chetna that looks delicious, I love daal too but I am not a huge fan of broccoli myself, my mum did cook daal like that once but with cauliflower, carrots, peas and potatoes in it, it was so delicious 😋 I love cauliflower, I will definitely try this 😋 thank you so much for sharing another amazing recipe 😁❤️🥰😋
Ok, Chetna, I went and bought a pressure cooker today, toor dal and other Indian spices. I will try this tomorrow since it looks so very delicious. WIsh me luck. :)
Isn't the "tenderstem broccoli" another name for what the Italians would call "broccoli raab" or sometimes in the USA is known as "broccolini"? It tastes very much like broccoli, but cooks much faster, and the florets don't come apart as quickly as broccoli.
Adding coconut milk to any dish is quite overpowering and that is ok in some cases but I dont like all my recipes to taste of coconut. It looses the real flavour of the lentils or whatever you are cooking.
The toor dal in particular has a tendency to thicken up as its starts to cool down and I dont like very watery or thick dal, so added water that would give me the perfect consistency when I eat it
That is red, yellow peas not lentils! Lentils are whole seed and peas are 1/2 seed 😏lentils are gray and green , and peas are yellow red and green . 🤷🏼♀️
Dal has become one of our favorite meals and on the menu weekly. Thanks for another recipe!
My pleasure!
No doubt about it.... vegetables are simply amazing...so wholesome, so comforting...❤
Yes they are!
My kind of food too! Thank you 🙏🏻 that looks delicious!

That looks delicious Chetna. Definitely making it xx
Made this tonight for dinner, was delicious and will definitely be making it again, thank you 🤩

You have made a puff pastry of mushroom and broccoli and my daughter and I love it. Thank you for your delicious recipes.

This looks delicious! I love broccoli and garlic and might add some carrots as well. I can make the dal in my Instant Pot.
Sounds great!

Tender stem broccoli is what we call broccolini in Australia, is that right?!
Like you, I'm cauliflower-obsessed 😄 But I also loooove broccoli - so happy to see a recipe with it! Thank you.
Hope you enjoy
Hi Chetna.. this recipe looks really interesting. Will definitely try
Hope you enjoy
thank you Chetna
You are welcome 😊
You've got me hooked on mango powder!
haha lovely
Super delicious and unique recipe ❤️❤
Thanks a lot
Omg this is delicious! Just ate all of what I made minus the dal. Like you broccoli isn’t something I eat but I will now!
Ohhh…I’ll be right over! 😋
Everyone has something they really don’t like. Hopefully it’s a short list! For me it’s mayonnaise, raw cilantro, coffee, and fennel/anise/licorice. 🤷🏻♀️😁

I really like your recipes, I am sure I will!
Deliciousness!
Thank you 😋
I'm very excited to use my pressure cooker for dal!
It's so good!
Wow yummm❤

Yesss
good for you--toor is the king of dals
Bought Amchur and added it instead of using a lemon and omg it’s wonderful!

Hope you will enjoy this!
pretty much all desi dal recipes are gluten free unless you choose to eat them with breads, but presumably you know to avoid that
That's true, brocoli and lentil changed my life....
It looks delicious! Can we change the broccoli for other vegetables? I have plenty of rainbow chards in the garden.
yes absolutely
Hello Chetna! love and have made so so many of you delicious, lovely recipes from your channel and cook books. I was wondering what size/capacity your pressure cooker is? Love all your recipes so much, thank you for sharing your love of cooking with us xxx
Ah I have no clue, have had it for over 10 years
Hi Chetna that looks delicious, I love daal too but I am not a huge fan of broccoli myself, my mum did cook daal like that once but with cauliflower, carrots, peas and potatoes in it, it was so delicious 😋 I love cauliflower, I will definitely try this 😋 thank you so much for sharing another amazing recipe 😁❤️🥰😋

Good luck!
Hi I just found your channel. You have me excited to try your recipes! May I ask what is the pan you used for the broccoli?
check out tomorrows video
Thank you I will! Thank you for all you do for encouraging healthy cooking. I bought one of your books and got one from the library.
Where is the recipe for this dish? It looks really good!
Isn't the "tenderstem broccoli" another name for what the Italians would call "broccoli raab" or sometimes in the USA is known as "broccolini"? It tastes very much like broccoli, but cooks much faster, and the florets don't come apart as quickly as broccoli.
Can i use fresh mango instead of mango powder?
Chetna remians so ageless. Lucky woman.
Ah thanks
Need more fish recipes please. Trying to add more fish to my diet and cut down on all meat. thank you.
Will do!
Amchur helps lighten the heaviness of the starchy ingredients.
Yes!
My mom usually soaks the dhal overnight, is that for any reason, or should I just go into it without that step with most lentils?
Have you watched my dal video? I share some specific things about all the dals I cook with, might find it useful. No need to soak this one!
I haven't yet! I'll give it a watch, thanks Chetna!
Add a few drops of oil after you add turmeric to the cooker
You can avoid a mess coming out of the p cooker valve
will try
Can y6use chana dal??
Iv got heaps of red lentils and chana Dahl
I use the red lentils to.make bread.
Is there any difference in the flavour (or anything else) of the meal, whether you use yellow or red lentils?
i had anticipated you adding coconut milk to it, but that might dull the flavor edge.
Adding coconut milk to any dish is quite overpowering and that is ok in some cases but I dont like all my recipes to taste of coconut. It looses the real flavour of the lentils or whatever you are cooking.
Tender stem broccoli are shoots that grow on the side of broccoli, so they taste the same.
I'm interested in your make and model of pressure cooker.
its 20 years old
@@FoodwithChetna Ahh... they don't make 'em like they used to eh?
How would a normal brocolli in this dal taste like? Just as tender stem or bland ?
It would taste like broccoli, if you are a fan then definitely try with that
@@FoodwithChetna Thank you!!
the 50ML of water was 70-100 and made it into a soup. is that what you were trying to achieve, or a slight slip of hand?
The toor dal in particular has a tendency to thicken up as its starts to cool down and I dont like very watery or thick dal, so added water that would give me the perfect consistency when I eat it
I'm amazed you don't like broccoli. It's one of my favorite vegetables, especially raw in a salad.
I don't but nothing against people who do 😂
You've done lots of 'tenderstem' broccoli recipes, no?
yes I love it
Knife looks a it sharper…😂
I love broccoli, but don't care for calabrese.
👍🏼
