  • Hello all! I know many of you are rolling your eyes and shaking your heads…. Card board??? Really??? Yup, and here is why. It is a free byproduct of all the other crap you are already spending money one, so bonus- It is something that anyone can do- when you are done with it, it is still cardboard so you can recycle it and build a new one- and not everyone has a budget for ramps or a yard they can tear up to jump things- lastly, why the heck not?!?!?!?
    Seriously though, just a quick video explaining how I make super cheap and effective ramps for small cars like my new Mini B. Any smaller and lighter weight cars and trucks can use these. Or just make them for your kids for their toy cars. Or you can just make them to learn more about the jump geometry and how your car reacts to different angles… I don’t know, just make some and go have fun!!! 😊

    you know with all the damn cardboard we all have lying around the house these days any use you can find is a great idea. I swear the cardboard industry has got to be booming.

      Yes! I Could have a whole track set up just made of cardboard! They are great for basement or driveway racing, especially with the mini cars. I agree, the cardboard companies are probably running at full capacity all the time!

    Thanks man. I'm a 40 year old engineer and I still found this video very helpful. I'm building a basement track for my Mini B. The area is multipurpose so I put down cheap low pile carpet from Homedepot and will use portable cardboard ramps.

      Thanks, they are super cheap and you can change up the designs of them to suit your needs and it is always fun to change up the track a little! A carpet track in the basement sounds like a ton of fun!! Those little buggies are terrific. Have a great time with it and thanks for watching!!!

    If your playing on grass buy some long nails and pus them in the ground on a 45°angle pointed to the center of the ramp to keep it from moving.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 месяца назад

      They do work better with the smaller cars, most due to the size restraints a lot of time. If you have big enough cardboard them you just have to beef them up a little for the 1/10 scale. A few extra ribs and another layer on top should be plenty. Have fun with it!

    The cardboard makes it really easy to shape, and test whatever ramp you want to build. I saw a guy on YT doing these paper mache pumpkins and he has a nice recipe to make this potentially into something that will hold up outside. this could be a good addition to making these ramps hold up for a long. I believe his name is Drachenfang here on YT. I think I am referring to this video title: " Paper Mache Pumpkin Version 2 - Part 1 Intro and Materials "

    Great video addam. Our wood wedges work well but are hard on the trucks. I’ve watched about 7 videos tonight on this, and leave it to good ol addam to have the best cardboard ramp building video on boobtoob 😁

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад +1

      LOL, thanks! At the cabinet shop it was super easy as cutting the ribs was super easy. Trace one inner brace and stack a bunch up and cut them on the band saw! Then it was just assembly line work to hot glue them together. Two of us could get 5 or 6 ramps made in about 10 minutes! We had dozens of them hanging around. For the bigger trucks you just have to beef them up and we usually covered them in two layers of cardboard to make them hold up.. have fun!!!

    Hi thanks for the video i just made my own ramp following your guide. Any other tips or recommendation so that the ramp won’t slide easily on concrete/road?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  21 день назад

      You can do a couple things, add hot glue to the bottom edges and it will help it from sliding some. Also you can add a little weight to the underside by hot gluing a small container (something that would probably end up in the trash or from the recycle bin like a pringles can, small butter tub or something) full of rocks or dirt to add some heft to it. Think cheap and disposable. The container can be reused on future ones. Have fun!!

  • @WonkyDuckSk8s
    @WonkyDuckSk8s 2 года назад +2

    Dude thank you i was toying around with a few ideas on how to do this found your explanation very easy to follow do you think if i increase the amount of ribs and add a few top layers i could get it strong enough to hit flat out with some 1/16 and and maybe a 1/10 at a push

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      Certainly, we used to make them for the 1/10th scale too. More bracing and an extra top layer will make them way tougher. Make sure to add some hot glue to the bottom of it or take some nails and stake the corners down when running the bigger ones on it. They weigh more so they tend to push the ramps all over the place! I used to work at a cabinet shop and most of our plywood would come covered with 4x8 sheets of cardboard so we had some serious ramps back then! You can go to your local lumber yard and ask if they have any for cheap or possibly free!!!

    For mine I make 1 cut on the side to keep the structure of the box. With this way I get 2 ramps from 1 box. Then I can put them together to have a ramp for a 1/10 vehicle. I have an example of this on my Instagram.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  Год назад +1

    I got a carpet foam is that good for a mini rc race track?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  8 месяцев назад +1

      I am not sure how well it would hold up, I have never seen anyone try it before so may be uncharted territory! I assume the foam would be high traction but also likely to break down in the corners fairly quickly but that is just a guess. most indoor surfaces are an indoor/outdoor carpet and it holds up well.

    How can you make a video on building a ramp and not at least demo the ramp?🤔
    Not one second of footage with a car using the ramp?😂
    Also cardboard gets destroyed when wet so I use corigated plastic sheets (from old yard signs I have kept for the material) as they are both stronger and waterproof while still being light weight.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  7 месяцев назад

      Well it was how to build a ramp, not how to use a ramp. LOL!
      It was a video I did when I had no other material to use at the time. We built them all the time at are cabinet shop to goof off with and they are not meant to be permanent. They get beat up and worn out and you make different ones for pennies. Glue stick are super cheap and carboard is free.
      I mean by all mean s make it out of whatever you would prefer. This video did good for me, one up me and make tougher ramps and demo them on RUclips, folks will watch!
