    I show how I build a 45 degree ramp along with a 30 degree ramp, then I get a few jumps in.

    Is it crazy to think how many people you helped by making this video? It's 3 years later and people are still commenting that they made this ramp. And I'm the latest one- just wrapped up working on it with my son. Bout to have some fun w our rustler and new Maxx today- thank you!!

      @timsgta 3 года назад +1

      @@outsourcedrc so are 4x4 sheets sufficient for the 45 angles? I'm just trying not to overbuy if I can help it...

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  3 года назад

      @@timsgta Not at the size of my ramp. You will have to shorten it. You can see in the video where I add a small strip at the top. Keep in mind if you shorten it, you will bottom out on the ramp and could even punch holes in it with your chassis. I know because I have done it on shorter ramps.

    I wanted to do this on the weekend and your video was perfect help. As an engineer, when i saw your graph paper i was so excited to find out what the actual curve was. But then when you did it with a flexible bar that was SOOO much easier and practical. Got mine up and running in an afternoon and couldn't be happier.

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  6 лет назад +2

      We have used these ramps a lot and they are solid. I can't decide where I like the wheels mounted at better. I have them mounted differently on both ramps and I don't think it matters.
      The 45 degree ramp is good for a lot of air at low speeds. It's good for practicing flips and such with out sending the E Revo 60 feet across the yard.
      The 30 degree is fun for casual jumps. You can still do flips and such off of it but you need a bit more speed than you do on the 45. If I were only going to build one ramp, I think I'd make a 35 degree ramp.

    • @crimsonfancy
      @crimsonfancy 6 лет назад +1

      Interesting. Thank you. At first I was afraid of the 45 degree ramp because you hit it pretty hard. I have a couple other channels I look at and slow 45 degrees looks fun and manageable for learning trigger control.
      otoh, I even told my dad that I thought I should build your 30 degree just to play safe. Get some long jumps I can handle under my belt.
      My property though isn't big enough to do long shots but can accommodate slower stuff. I even roll up oak trees lately and land backflips as my first repeatable trick. lol
      Anyway, a 35-40 degree may be my sweet spot. Gonna do it maybe this Independence Day / week and my final angle and ratio will end up last minute but right where you've directed me either way.
      We have a Harbor Freight within 4 miles and casters for easy mobility will happen. I plan to take photos and put up on the FB group.
      Thanks for the inspiration. Once I get the limiting strap mod in place also next week, I'll be fearless. ;-)

    I’m just curious which jump you prefer to use? 30 or 45 degree.
    Also, Have you thought about transitioning from a drill to an impact driver for setting your screws? I’d let you try one of mine if you lived close enough. 😄

    I think I might have to attempt this. Was going to grab a plastic one on Amazon but the width is not so good. Two would work but it would cost about 100 bucks. I am not so good at carpentry though. Also would need tools. Decisions to be made lol.

      One of the biggest problems I see with people jumping is hitting the ramp. I think a 4 foot ramp is too small sometimes.
      Honestly, the only tools you really need are a jigsaw, a hand saw, and either a hammer or a drill of some kind. Ask around. I'm sure someone you know would loan you the tools. You may even be able to rent them from somewhere.

    Thanks for this vid!! Just built my first ramp yesterday and it turned out really good thanks to you. I made a 35 degree ramp and its really smooth and makes my typhon fly really well. I reckon my top height was about 25 feet and top distance was about 35-40 feet, i need to get one of those distance laser gun. And thats with only like 20 feet of runway lol.
    Edit: Did you try your Typhon on those ramp? Have you tried doing backflips with it? I havent tried yet, i still need more pratice. Im not even sure if its possible but i might try that truggification mod on it and make it more e-revo/tallion like.

    • @outsourcedrc

      The thinner sheets are less expensive, easier and less expensive to replace, easier to bend to the curve, and I double them up because the chassis will punch holes through it if you hit it fast enough. I have done it.

    Awesome thanks I'm gonna make a couple ramps I can take in my truck

      I made one about 3.5' wide so I can slide it into my suv. :) 3.5 seems plenty wide..... unless you are gonna send it at full speed...then maybe I need 6' wide! haha my driving sucks.

    Which Revo? Good explanation on the ramp. Just curious how the RC is holding up?

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  6 лет назад +1

      Its the E Revo 2.0 in the video, but I also run the V1 and the 1/16th E Revo also.
      The E Revo 2.0 is holding up great. Since I put the limiting straps and swapped out the servos, the only issues I've had have been a couple of push rods and one tie rod end. This is the most durable RC I have ever ran. Its crazy.

    If you put carpet on the top would that help the car get traction and protect the ramp?

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  3 года назад

      Yes. I dont know about protecting the ramp. but it helps with traction.

    A question off this subject
    Do you know why Losi stop selling the 3 XL-E?
    They’re not even for sale on Ebay. Well someone just very recently posted one, but there no others for sale
    Please advise
    Thank you

    Great video! Between the 45 and 30, which did you end up using more often and why?

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  3 года назад +3

      Thanks! It depends on the RC I'm driving and what I am doing. I think I use the 30 degree more often because I like those long and fast jumps over the higher jumps. Normally I dont hit the 45 very fast. I use it for flips and such.
