Ford would be selling alot more Mach E's if the dealers would just get out of the way.
Agree that dealers suck, but they are already selling them as fast as they can make them.
I loath dealers so much. I would rather buy one slightly used from the private party than purchase from a dealer.
I went to the dealer and they wanted an extra 10,000 dollars.
This is exactly what I’m afraid of. Instead of what you see is what you get pricing like Tesla, the dealer is a complete wild card in terms of what the final price of the Mach E will be. I’ve been going back and forth with Mach E vs Model Y for some time now and dealer being the middle man is a big negative for me.
@@DarrellC. i was kinda in the same boat but with the model 3 and Y ultimately, for the same money i could have gotten a long range Y i got a performance 3. i love it. and i have a personal level 2 charger for my apartment and we have a “residential use” level 3 charger. 300 miles a day is more than enough. id even sacrifice like 50 more miles of my range for a mid 2 second 0-60
Was hoping for a shade for the panoramic sunroof and raising the ground clearance...
With these large batteries, watch Ford tweak and improve the range with updates and get even more out of these cars. Impressed.
Yeah let’s hope. Because basically 100 kWh battery is big. And to go 260 miles per charge. Is not efficient. Pound per pound vs Porsche tycan and Tesla. Lucid in a league of their own now with their battery Efficiency
Ford has already said they would. They're looking to do a 5 to 10 % battery increase every year. With this news it's good news because it looks like that will apply to older models as well.
@@bobmatrix1 I think they want to prolong battery life more than any other brand
They’ll need a solid state battery for that
I think all Mustang Machs should come with a black grill. It looks more organic.
i think it’s ugly. i liked the 2021
The black grill is only for the GT
Like dirt?
The charge curve change that makes the Mach E able to charge to 90% instead of 80% before going down to 11-12kw is also coming as OTA for 21 models
that is smart because a lot of people like myself ordered a 2021 in the summer and will be taking delivery in the next months. if they didnt backport these updates to the 2021 they would be flooded with order cancelations. I would have canceled my 2021 order and just bought a 2022 when it comes off the truck.
and the increased range on 22 models, is that also coming to 21 owners?
Alex, I got the Sync update about a month ago that gave my 2021 4X the doodle thing, tic-tac-toe game, etc, but most importantly, now my Sirius artist alerts actually work. Spent the last 6 months adding them, now they actually alert me. I'm eagerly awaiting the Bluecruise update.
and I am still waiting for an update......
What version was your update?
@@thingswithed I couldn’t even tell you. We got the car in May. I have asked for updates I have received none. And I have reached out to Ford several times in person, by email, and by Twitter believe it or not. The reason we bought the mustang was that way we would have a dealership behind us, where we could take the car if we needed. Unlike Tesla. But as it turns out, that was a mistake
How do we get updates? My Mach-e just always says updates current?
@@thewavygamers2011 You have the Bluecruise software running on your Mach-E?
Very nice overview of the differences and changes. Thanks.
"Frunk Ajar" would be a great band name. 🙂

The style of the MKZ wheels fit nicely with the futuristic look of the Mach E
Gt front end looks so much better than the regular one, in my opinion, if I had regular one, I'd have to figure out a way to make front grille look like on gt
Love these videos! Keep them up for the Ford mach-es
Great coverage! Thanks for this video
The portrait style screen also gets into the expedition for 2022. I don't know if it will have the same software, though.
In another form in the Edge.
Great update, thank you
I'm a little confused. Is this just a comparison of the 2022 Mach E GT to 2021 standard? so will the 2022 Standard/Premium be the Same as the 2021 Standard/Premium?
Exactly ..... The price range is wide on the 3 levels offered ....
Great Video I look forward to see how ford Updates my Mach E
Forgot to mention you get two keys now!
1.7.1 gives you new features including the sketch, calculator and other apps. I haven’t received that update yet. I’m still on the last update of 1.6.
Finally some sort of update with the Mach E he owns! Need more content on the Mach E
Nice MKZ wheels. Could you provide more details about it? Year/model, and did you have any change in rage?
I like the previous Gril much better
It’s only on the GT as far as I know
I just recently got BlueCruise on my 21 Premium and like it, I took it from Yeehaw Junction to Orlando International Airport on the Florida Turnpike . It would be nice if it would do lane changes and exits to other Bluecruise capable highways automatically but it's still a Very nice upgrade.
Still looking for a heat pump for cool and cold weather regions to extend the usable range when mild heating is needed.
I've had two Model S's without the heat pump and now a RAV4 Prime with a heat pump. I can tell you a heat pump should not be a deal breaker. Yes it has obvious benefits but it's Ford we're talking about.
@@InternetDude comparing a Model S to a Prime in terms of range loss without a heat pump isn’t really apples to apples.
@@garrettw99 it is in EV mode
@@InternetDude but the battery is much larger in full Evs than plug in hybrids. The same percentage increase would be much more noticeable
@@InternetDude No it isn’t. Tesla and Toyota tech are very different. Tesla reinvented the heat pump and came up with the Superbottle in the a Model 3. Then they further improved it and debuted the Octovalve in the Model Y. It makes a huge difference.
My 2021 GT didn’t even show up yet and now I’m wanting the 2022 for the charging tweak.
I love the song selection at 4:10!
Dont know if its a limitation of the software or just the way ford is doing it, but why does it take a year to a frunk release button on the screen or app? I owned the mache for a month and didnt see a single software update. PAAK worked 50% of the time. Ford needs to get more aggressive with the updates.
Not to make excuses they could arguably be doing a better job at pushing updates yes, but it is common practice to roll out software updates overtime rather then all at once to reduce load and therefore server requirements, as well as limit the scope of any possible issues that occur. With cars it can be expected for more of a delay between updates for relatively few changes just to thoroughly test for issues, not wanting to break something given the nature of the hardware. But what took them this long? idk but they are rolling out those updates now you just weren't randomly picked as first in line. You *should* get it soon seeing as they are going out to people now.
@@KeeperOfTheSevenKeys. yeah, I hear you but with missing features like basic functionality either missing (frunk opening) or not working (paak) there really is no excuse. I took advantage of this crazy market and flipped my Mach E into a MY. Hopefully for current owners, Ford gets things moving a bit faster in the future.
@@peterfriedman3745 yeah like I said not making excuses but some of this is normal tech practice, but they should have gotten a better hold on these things in their software department by now.
Also trading a mach e for a model Y is... odd to say the least, what made you pick that over options like an ID.4 or waiting for an EV6?
@@KeeperOfTheSevenKeys. I probably oversimplified. I had a Grand Cherokee High Altitude that was leased. I was about a year in. I leased it right after the pandemic hit so i got a crazy good deal. A year later, when the used car market was exploding I was able to trade it in against a demo Mach E premium. The dealer had used the 7500 tax credit because they registered it so I was able to get another really good deal, which was crazy considering how hard the Mach E is to get. At the same time I was looking at the Mach E I ordered the model Y. It took a couple of weeks to get the Mach E as it had to have 2000 miles on it for the dealership to be able to sell it. After I had the Mach E for about a month I got the notice that my Model Y was ready. So I sold the Mach E to Vroom, made 9K on it and used that as a down payment for the MY. I had no interest in the ID 4. It was really either the Mach E or the MY.
@@peterfriedman3745 Okay that situation makes sense, just comparing the cars the trade didn't make sense lol.
Love the updated version 👍🏾 very nice wheel design
I really like the the Mach E till I seen the thermal management system
Received an update on 11/20 which gave us the sketch app. It was a tad glitchy at first but settled down after a full charge overnight.
Video looks great!!
For us folks in the north country the most needed upgrade would be a heat pump.
That's the smartest answer I have read.
I have received the notes etc. I’m my First Edition. They came in OTA (PowerUp) 1.7.1
Alex, the GT in your video is a 2021. Ford isn’t building any 2022s until the week of 11/29.
It could have been pre-made. I work at The Truck Plant For Super Duty's, and we usually don't go into production until July or so but we begin testing the next model year as early as November in groups of 3-5 trucks per time.
@@aaroncrawford2473 Okay, but it wasn't. Ford has said that the GTs at this event were 2021s.

I like the updated front end
I guess it will be cool to buy a car that can get the new car features without buying the new car. I am not a fan of the subscription model for blue Cruise. I am guessing Ford needs to replace the dealership service revenue streams.
In 2022 Ford is sending Technicians
Out to service all Mach E accessible charge stations that are shown to be a problem...Also Ford and Tesla are working on a deal so more charge stations can be used by both Companies...
I would like to have also 240V - V2L power share and ventilated seat and regenerative force change by shift paddles same as in KIA.
I would've put 255 tires on those wheels, but good choice for a cool look, nonetheless.
I like the grill on the 2021 mach-e I remember when i forst learn about a mustang suv I was super mad I love muscle cars I'm on my second mustang so I thought they were going stop making them but now that I see they didn't stop & the gas prices keep going up I wish I have a mach-E 😂

Is there a filter to show just the hpc removing the 50 kw charger from the map?
2022 Ram’s Uconnect 5 with 12” screen supports portrait Apple CarPlay I believe. I could be wrong, but I thought that’s one of the things they said it could do when announced.
The 2020 Subaru Outback also supports portrait, but I’m not sure if it can switch between landscape and portrait like this one can
I wish someone would talk about the Borg Warner motors in these cars and how power delivery drops 50% after 60 MPH… it’s a huge problem for performing against Model Y. The MME PE is a $70k car. It needs to do better than 12~ with a 105~ trap speed. The motors are the problem and aren’t fixable by software airdrop sadly… and ver very few people talk about this huge limitation to the otherwise amazing MME PE…..
It’s a game changing screw up!!!
Have no idea what any of the above means but can't be a big problem as not mentioned in any of the reviews i have watched, ignorance is bliss :)
Thats why we wait for the future of electric mustangs to come😊
@@talkandplay A lot of reviewers, though, are shills... unfortunately :/
Motor Trend just wrote a pretty fair and less than flattering article on the Mach-E🤕
I was gonna get one, but not anymore. After testing it for days, the glass roof with no shade is a real problem. (I'm getting a panoroof, so put a shade in it.) The AWD system is not very effective, the car makes clunky sounds it shouldn't make, and its pretty loud on the highway
What "less than flattering" article are you referencing? Only one I saw was for finalist in SUV of the Year?
What is the no shade problem when people in the likes of California are saying it is not a problem?
I drive my Mach E in South Texas. You don't need the roof shade. There's no heat that comes through the glass. It's crazy TBH.
Very informative 10 minutes
Im about to buy a Mac E GT but my question is Should I get the 2021 or Should I just Pre Order The 2022 ?
They can`t even get Ford Pass to work correctly so good luck with the `over the air` updates.
LOVE THIS VIDEO. awesome updating everyone on one of the best bang for buck EV's in 2022
This is the first I've heard Bluecruise will be subscription-based. That might have just driven me to a Kia or Hyundai; they have excellent near-self driving and don't need a subscription.
Yeah was thinking about getting a mach e and now the subscription thing is a letdown.
I get that but ultimately it’s going to cost Ford a lot of money to maintain and expand BlueCruise. Chevy is doing it with their Super Cruise as well. Monkey see monkey do I guess.
I do also have a Niro EV and your spot-on, The lane centering etc … is fantastic without subscription, Ford will do something very similar … the BlueCruise is truly autonomous driving so to me it would still be worth the subscription for the extra performance.
well what I want to know now is how much is the subscription cost of bluecruse... if it is too much Ford just lost a customer
$600 for a three-year subscription (unofficial rumor).
Since no mention of it was made, I assume the 2022 sunroof did not receive a retractable cover.
For heat, it really doesn't need it but if you do think it needs a shade, there's aftermarket.
@@metal_horses568 I agree. In fact, here in sunny Central FL, I often get in my friends MachE 4EX and never realize it has a glass roof.
Nope. But the GT can be spec’d with a full metal roof.
@@DiscoveryOwners The option of a cover would be nice at the price point.
Can we get a breakdown on what amount of adaptive cruise is available both with and without the subscription?
Pretty much the current details about Mach E's adaptive cruise sans Bluecruise can be found here: ruclips.net/video/B1jUG7ARbDM/видео.html Ford vid
So, it seems like its the same vehicle with OTA updates which 2021 models will get as well. I believe the traction control is GT specific. Is the DC fast charging update OTA for both models or 2022 specific? You're the only one who's mentioned that it'll be 2022 specific, so far.
I've ordered the Ice White Edition, cannot wait.
@Jean Toronto Raptors I wouldn't call any of that actual changes (except removing the divider in the frunk). This is the same thing that Tesla does and I hope that all auto manufacturers adopt updating existing vehicles.
And no, I do no actually expect any major changes given that the vehicle is so new and has so much demand right now.
Good color
Congrats, the ice white looks awessome. I kind of wanted to cancel my 2021 premium (red) order when I saw that! However I ordered in the summer and am getting my car in a couple of weeks so dont want to reset the clock and be waiting months more.
did they finally add a heat pump?

Great video and so refreshing that you are covering all electric vehicles.
I've owned two Teslas and even I can't stand the full on T-fanboy channels. Out of Spec Motoring would be up your alley too, likes any EV.

I like the grill look on the 22 better
Do better allow for ninety percent or more fast charging else that 91 kWh needs an asterisk next to it.
At least they are making OTA updates which is something many promise but don't deliver. My concern is Ford is moving to an Android OS for other models so does the Mach E support that?
how many miles did you lose by adding those tires?
Nice review.
Some question if you can answer for benefits of all reading here.
1. Is available preconditioning of battery before arrival to charging station? - to improve charging speed.
2. Navigation - Android Auto, Apple Car Play, - Driving directions can be displayed on driver display ?
3. V2L - I read article that be possible via Home charger dedicated from Ford, But no info about maximum output power any info you have ?
4. May also ford plan V2L plug in charging port like Jia in EV6 ?
5. How are you fill glass roof during very hot and sunny days ? I mean comfort, heat radiation from glass.
6. If I well understand, the suspension is adaptive ? Can be in menu chosen particular preferences.
If Mustang reporting my power consumption in different roads, it shall also report road condition, I mean very bad condition, then others may avid it to prevent any damage or discomfort.
BRGDS
So, the subscription is only the for bluecruise camera part of the driver assistance? No other part of the assisted driving?
Correct. Frankly, the Intelligent Cruise Control might be better than Bluecruise in a lot of ways. You can use ICC on any road that's well marked, only having to keep a finger on the wheel. ICC apparently has a higher tolerance for asking the driver to take over as well.
The bluecruise system is better but honestly it being a subscription is kinda a point in favor of buying an ID.4. Mach e uses a torque sensor which isn't a big deal but the VW system has a touch sensor in the steering wheel so definitely lower effort than giving it a jolt even now and then. Been Strongly considering both vehicles but have mostly been leaning towards the Mach e.
The bezels on all the screens r so chunky. I feel like metal trimming would have been a good way to shake off that cheap look. I still want it but I am mildly annoyed
Just improvements constantly is the way to go. You don't even need yearly upgrades
Shout out to Fifth Harmony on the music app. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
New grill looks SO MUCH better
Can the blinking lights for the driver monitor system be disabled? That would make me nuts …
You cannot see those lights in person. The lights are only visible to cameras, similar to lights on a TV remote.
Subscription on your car. LOL!! Wonder if old cars become more expensive since they can be owned fully vs new cars.
I received the charging update at the dealer allowing for faster charging after 80%. It also added 3kWh to battery useable capacity. There were other changes but that’s the main ones.
Which battery do you have? What is the range like now?
We have the extended range 98 kWh battery with 88 useable but we think it is now 91 but still need to confirm after receiving update. Range now is lowered due to -10 to -20c temperatures. So once we get back to normal temperatures in spring summer we will see.
The main change I appreciate is the faster DC charging after 80% which we only use on long trips about 4 times per year.
Our range last summer was 470 to 520km depending on road, driving speed and weather conditions.
How much do the dealers negotiate on these? Think I can get it to MSRP all said and done?
Many dealers are charging over MSRP for any vehicles in their inventory, if you search around RUclips, there's a crowd source list of dealers who will not charge more but they may not have vehicles in stock. It really depends on where you are in the world/country. When I ordered mine, it told me that the dealer I chose will not charge more than MSRP but the dealer I test drove a Mach E at told me that pre ordering will have no mark up but in stock vehicles will have a $5000 mark up.
My 2021 CA Route 1 I took delivery of a week ago has some of the features you pointed out on the 2022 like the physical traction control off button and the front trunk did not come with a divider. It came blue cruise ready and works great. I know it takes a while to adjust range estimates to your driving however I have noticed at 100% charge it estimates 290 miles of range vs the 305 advertised. We shall see if this improves as I am averaging a nice 3.7miles/kWh. Love the car!
Surely thats 3,7 Miles/kWh?
It never charges to 100%, just 100% of usable space. Also, it’s not actually good to always charge it that far. The ideal charge is 20%-80%.
Nice!!
@@afcgeo882 yeah I only charged it to 100 one time to see what the range estimate was or how close to 305 it may be. I set it to only charge to 90 while at home. And yes 3.7miles per kWh my bad lol

The UI seems a lot smoother. Wonder if that is better hardware or better software?
Doubtful with the current shortages they opted for new/updated chips. Definitely an update as most are still running 1.6 and not 1.7.1.
@@charlesgrove6905 Good point.
I wouldn't say it's a change. Because it's a GT edition. The name says it all 😅😋. A normal Mach-E is the same car, just different equipment and design.
Has anything been improved on the very synthetic steering and are there finally seats with side support in the 2022 model?
He talks about it in the video
I actually like the steering
It’s the trampoline rear suspension that drives me nuts
Does Ford cost extra for OTA updates?
Alex, do you use a home charger? If so I am curious as to which one. There are a few "smart chargers" I am considering to have installed in my garage. Your videos are great, I just ordered my 2022 Premium AWD. Thanks. 👍
The smart chargers allow scheduling by hour and day, which the car already does. You can also measure electricity usage and shut off usage of the charger if you have it outside in an area where someone else may use it, without having to lock the connector.
My utility offered a $500 dollar rebate for certain smart chargers. The caveat is they are allowed to control the charger, and shut it down during times of high use to relieve the grid. This is in WA state, not CA. They have not enacted the policy yet, but it will be here in 2022 they say. I can disconnect the unit from WiFi and it works the same, so I bet that would be a way to bypass the lockout in an emergency.
I also have the Siemens versa charge as well. It was half the price (when it was available), and works the same if you don't need the wifi capability.
Most of the "smarts" are part of the car's software; you tell it when the cheap rates are and what the maximum charge current should be and then the car handles the power draw. I think the charge station (EVSE) should be dumb by design and just contain a few safety cutoffs.
@@plkracer Thank you. I am considering the Charge Flex home point model. Even over the one being sold by the Ford dealer. I am just getting into reading about these chargers. It will be installed, in my garage. Thanks for your reply. Glen
Why not just a 110V or if you drive 50+ miles/day get a 230V outlet. You planning on driving so much you need to charge faster than 0-100% in 4 hours?
@@gregb7353 Greg, none of the chargers I am considering will charge the car that fast. I just prefer a wall mounted unit in my garage. Looking for the best bang for my buck. Thanks for commenting.
Wishing someone out there would do a video on any issues charging at home.
I think why no one has is because there are no charging issues at home. That is as long as you can charge. 95% of people can charge with a 110V outlet but a 230v is cheap and gives you peace of mind. I drove 100 miles/day and used a 110V for over a month. Only had to hit the public charger once. Most people drive 40 miles/day.
Hello! I been thinking of get the base model Mach e. I drive around 54 miles round trip to work. Would I be ok charging at home at 110 volts?

I think they should do a facelift on headlights and fender, current headlights looks like something from audi, fenders looks like it’s from 2000s outback
I like the old look of the front on the 2021.
2022 looks old like the original Model S
Please add air to the front passenger tire it's way under inflated.
He already mention that it was low in the video
I still don’t understand why putting the charge port on the drivers side got essentially standardized ( thanks to tesla putting it there ) and now we all have to walk the darn hose all the way around on to the street to plug it in and have hose all over the place when we charge on the streets, where so many of these charging station will eventually actually live. No, having it on the drivers side is not more convenient because thats where you exit car, it only works at home and dedicated station, where i dont mind i f i had to walk to the pother side to plug in, as i had for decades with my gas car . Walking on to the street and leaving hose all over the road is a much bigger inconvenience.
Good point. It will be some time before having an EV without a garage in which to charge it will be convenient. Or at least a private driveway.
I notice that some Japanese designed gasoline powered vehicles have the fuel filler on the right side, which is the driver's side in Japan. Maybe their EV's will follow that practice.
Why not make infotainment detachable its already looks like an after thought how they placed it, why not be able to take it with you?
That’s my feeling on all these new tablet screens. Even the smaller ones in their other cars look like afterthoughts. I’m waiting for a kid to grab the top of one and break it because they think it’s a toy tablet. LOL.
I have to say i strongly dislike the "grille" on the GT vs the old model. It's reminiscent of the butt-ugly one on the old gen Model S
I noticed the speedo carries the absurd label of "Ground Speed". It reminds me of the ancient Chrysler fake "Data Center" display (executed in real computer font!) that displayed nothing at all but the words "Data Center." Kind of sad Detroit still somehow thinks fake is cool.
If you're going to give me ground speed, you better damned well give me another that says Airspeed.
I think it’s just a joke. My wife set the horn in our MY to do the D.J. air horn thing. Very stupid, but also kinda funny. I think Ford, similar to Tesla, is just not taking themselves too seriously.
Air speed would be handy, if they could measure it, to let you know how the wind might be impacting your range. I’m kind of surprised no one has implemented that yet.
That's because Mustangs interior was inspired by P-51 Mustang. Hence the Ground Speed. 2015 Mustangs have the same thing.
Calm the fxck down, maybe! Germany seems to think fake is cool too! Fake interior air vents, fake exterior exhaust cutouts, even fake leathers. I will never understand why Americans are always so damn quick to shxt-talk the American products as if Detroit’s finest are the only ones guilty of being auto manufacturers. They all have lied to us at some point one way or another, believe me!
The idea that you have to pay a subscription fee to use the hardware/equipment that you already paid for is just wrong. That's like having to put money into a slot on your toilet before you use it.
Less frequent poops and less toilet paper.🤔
So you don't pay monthly for your phone? Blue Cruise takes a lot of work to keep it updated and the only viable model for that is subscription.
@@gregb7353 Bad analogy. I'm using cloud service and cellular towers each time I make a phone call. I'm not using any of that when I start my car. Also, another "viable model" for those updates (which typically occur over MY WiFi) would be the initial price of the vehicle. Many technologies provide free updates for their products. No doubt it's included in the price of the tech, but at least it's not a recurring fee. But this is just my opinion, I still like the car and would consider it at some point in time.
@@nix4644 Data Centers and developers cost money just like cell towers. If there is a recurring cost to the company it's better to pay for it with a recurring fee. Something static like a wheel is better to pay up front. If you pay recurring it forces them to improve the service or you can drop it.
@@gregb7353 Agree to disagree, but appreciate the back and forth. Have a good day.

How many phones can connect to this car? If there were more than two drivers in a family, will a third driver have trouble operating this car? Can they give buyers at least two key fobs? I'd like improvements to the cold weather range. I'd also like more regular knobs with less reliance on a tablet. Just because it's electric doesn't mean I want it to act like a computer. How often do those fail? I want it to act like a regular, old-fashioned car with a normal dashboard. A CD player would be a lovely retro touch. Can we just have a lever for the frunk?
The uneven stitching on the dash would drive me crazy.
Imagine this front fascia on a sedan
Like an Audi A5 Sportback with this front fascia
Ford needs to go for it
Why the hell can we not open the frunk with the fob?
