- First mission of the North Cape scenario "Fighting Withdrawal" in MicroProse Fleet Defender (version 2.0), protecting the carrier group from incoming Tu-16 Badgers.
I am using a new and more realistic ocean texture, as well as a fix for the surface scrolling issue. I have also changed the loading screen. Flown with CH Flightstick Pro, and recorded in DOSBox with Roland MT-32 Sound.

I first played this as a kid in 1995, but only last week did i finally beat my first proper mission in the game. I'm on the third campaign now, and I've grown to love this challenging and detailed game. I especially love the AIM-54 Phoenix missile. :P
I have just made available the full texture and ocean fix pack, some of which is featured in this video. pixelwings.org/military/fleetdefender/fdmods/fdmods.htm
trying the game out my first time. Graphics look so muddy, Wish they used the Red Baron 3d engine. Is your goal eventually to make the game look less muddy?
I guess you mean low resolution? Red Baron 3D came much later, Fleet Defender is based on early 90s PC specs and tech, although they initially plan for 640x400/480. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do with the low resolution.
Where'd you get the texture mods? This was a great sim that I still fire up sometimes for nostalgia.
I made them, so technically I got them from myself.
@@pixelwings821 any chance you can upload them somewhere?
@@larrythorn4715 I am working on a larger texture pack for the game, so later yes.
@@pixelwings821 I will appreciate it if I could have it also! Thanks in advance for your effort and work!
@@pju28 FleetDefender is the game that made me buy DCS. DCS is the game that makes me regret buying DCS. Hope to see this texture pack soon!
