What's Flying Royal Jordanian Like? B787 Chicago to Amman

- I tried out Royal Jordanian Airlines B787 Dreamliner from Chicago to Amman, Jordan. We departed just before the winter storm hit Chicago. Once onboard the RJ B787, I was greeted by a flight attendant dressed in a traditional costume, showcasing the country’s tradition.
Royal Jordanian B787-8 has 24 business class in 2-2-2 configuration and 246 economy class seats. After takeoff, a fantastic dinner buffet was served in Business Class in front of the guest. I have noticed the airline has restored the pre-pandemic service. There is menu, and even hot towels onboard.
A flight attendant told me more about the history of Royal Jordanian and its former name ALIA. After 10 hours of flying, we landed in Amman, Queen Alia International Airport. I transited Amman and visited the Crown Lounge of Royal Jordanian Airlines. My next flight was onboard the ALIA Retro livery on A321 to Dubai. I give my verdict of flying Royal Jordanian at the end of the video.

A very big respect to the pilot who introduced himself in English and didn’t forgot to do the same in Arabic too. He respects his mother language and his culture too. 👈👏
As a German living in the Middle East, I really appreciate your culture and hospitality. What I didn't know is that Jordan produces wine! I am truly amazed! You are wonderful people and I love you all!
Loved it too! I don't know a word of Arabic but that was just pure class.... and he was right, it sounded better in Arabic
That's called professionalism at work. not the culture. in-flight they must use English and their Native language as Jordan is a modern fast-growing country

@@TuxWing He had a 9-5 job and did this as a hobby, the Airlines discovered he had a following and then decided to pay him / give him free rides... you see, from a airlines perpestive this is free marketing.. it costs next to nothing..
I think he previously was a financial analyst. So yeah, he also had what you seem to deem "a boring office job".

I did that same flight on economy, best economy experience ever! great legroom, and seat recline, seats are comfortable, meals are very good, and crew is excellent! We loved Jordan and loved Royal Jordanian!!!

Royal Jordanian seems like a very decent airline. What I’m almost impressed with is the upmost comfort and caring of the crew on the flight. Also I got to say that the livery is really good on their planes!
Agreed but the flight is way to long like 12:30 hours which is a lot

They only do it because Sam is a major RUclipsr, they have some of the worst customer service in the industry. I took the same route Sam did, and never again. Now the people of Jordan are amazing, but Royal Jordanian, terrible service.
I once flew ALIA and there after Royal Jordanian Lockheed Stri-Star L1011-500 ER from Amsterdam-Amman to Singapore... Quite some recognition again to see this video coverage... Thanks Sam

I flew Royal Jordanian from JFK to Amman back in 2015. Really great airline. Jordan is such a beautiful country with nice wonderful people. A gem of the Middle East!

I have flown with probably 15 different airlines during my life, including Royal Jordanian. This airline is truly royal and supreme. It has left sentimental impressions on me. I cannot wait to fly with it again!

I flew with them back in 2018. Bangkok - Amman (787-8), Amman - Rome (Embraer 195). The flight was on-par with many other companies, overall. But I never felt "like at home" during a flight. Easy-going and not overly revenent crew. Rather I felt surrounded by funny and sincere friends. They even gave me a double meal because I was still hungry... 😂

I managed to have a double meal by mistake because passengers who requested special meals are always served 1st which for some reason I must have put a ✔ mark on the booking, so after I finished my meal, the rest was coming and the FA already cleared my table ",no evidence ". Lol
Great Airline, Beautiful People and Love the fact that relations to its neighboring country are respectful so that over flight rights are maintained….well done Sam 👍🏻

I remember flying Royal Jordanian back in 1991 in the Gulf War exodus from Kuwait. The hospitality was amazing and the dessert was heavenly!
What I loved the most about this flight was the people. What humble, dedicated, friendly and hospitable people. I can't wait to fly with them in the future. Let's hope for peace.

It was really nice tour of Royal Jordanian flight. Sam gave honest review and hope they implement those changes including painting of the airport at Amman. And those who are jealous about his work must remember all the hard work he has put in over the years.

I was in Amman in April and flew on Royal Jordanian as well. I loved it! They are so accommodating and so very welcoming. I had a wonderful experience with them! ❤️
I really liked the flight attendant, Maha(not sure how to spell it, sorry), She was so welcoming, her personality made me smile and her pulchritudinous eyes shimmered through my screen. I think she is very good at her job and I will be flying to the middle east in 2023 and I'll use Royal Jordanian Air because of her.
A month ago we were walking through that same sad construction zone terminal in Chicago O’Hare to board our flight to Amman! We really enjoyed Royal Jordanian’s crown class and were really excited that a lot of the amenities were back! The flight attendants were awesome. We slept great but agree I wouldn’t want to be sleeping next to a stranger in that 2-2-2 configuration. Loved reliving our experience with you!

We took that flight from O'Hare to Amman a couple years ago. Loved our trip to Jordan and the flight on Royal Jordanian was a great experience. Watching this video reminds me our our trip, loved to see it!

The pilot is so beautiful, handsome! MashaAllah! I flew with RJ twice from Montréal to Saudi in 2023 and 2024 for Umrah. Excellent airline and good customer service. ❤
I was flying business from New York to Amman, well, I ended up starving . For that particular day , I hadn’t had any food in me , no breakfast, no lunch, and no snack what so ever , but I was relying on having a proper dinner during the flight . Every item on the menu I chose wasn’t available, and left with choices that I couldn’t eat at all, they even went and offered me a meal left over from coach class that looked so dry and most unappetizing, I had to turn it down . I wasn’t being picky or anything, I even asked for some cheese and crackers, but they didn’t haven’t . So I stayed with nothing to eat and had to wait till I got home . I was encouraged by a flight attendant to right a complaint, as it wasn’t the first time something like this that took place in business class on the royal Jordanian!!
Everyone is so nice and hospitable, especially the air hostess in the traditional outfit. First Officer Ishmael was great too!

What a nice airline, super friendly staff, food looked excellent, surely a nice experience! When working for Austrian in Vienna in the late 70ies, there were daily flights to/from Amman with Alia! Very good rebranding🙂

Beautiful crew inside and out from the pilots to the flight attendants ! So what that the seats aren’t the latest design or lack of WiFi....
I’d rather not have those amenities and step off a flight that I feel good about and treated with appreciation as a customer!
Honestly other airlines need to take notes ! I hope they reach the top! Something tells me they will!

Amazing you showed the old business class.. so much space, yes open cabin, no privacy. My comment to current aircraft interior designers, separate things more, if your flying two it's great but if not even paying for business you get to know your fellow passenger and what he is watching on his screen a little too much. The headroom and wideness of this aircraft is impressive, I'm sure there would be ways to maximize the use of all this extra space.. the other valid point you made is the windows not full darkness, easy fix with manual shades (my opinion; not everything has to be electronic). That being said the service and friendly crew looks spectacular, being able to enjoy a good meal, talk to the crew and learn new things while traveling is the best part of travel!
I flew this flight back in Aug 2021. The crew was awesome and the flight was pleasant considering it was 14 hours!
Impressed what a wonderful flight from service, food and the gracious flight attendant she was so pleasant.
I flew on Alia forty years ago from New York to Amman and it was terrible. It was an 18 hour flight with a stop in Vienna. There was a blizzard in progress in Vienna and they opened the wrong hatch. Snow flew inside the plane and piled up four inches in the aisle. Meanwhile the passengers trying to board the plane where on the tarmac ramp outside the plane pounding on the door to board and screaming to get in. I’m happy to see that it has greatly improved since then. 👍🏻
P. S. - It’s interesting to see that the young pilot and co-pilot were both wearing glasses. 🤓🤓

A very solid airline and product from Royal Jordania! it is always a guarantee! Of course, there are some areas that could be improved but as you said a very good experience overall! I hope to go to Jordania soon and fly with them!

Flew to Mumbai once from LHR via Amman. Fantastic flight. Wish it would restore that route, I would not think twice about booking it again.

When I was growing up in Kuwait during the eighties, Alia as Royal Jordanian was called back then, was our go to airline for long range trips. Flew a lot on their Tristars and 747s. My first flight across the Atlantic was on an Alia Tristar, Amman to Chicago. If there are any regrets in regards to Alia, it’s not getting an opportunity to fly on their 727s.
I was flying Saudia a lot in the 80s' I think that was the best airline in the Middle East back then. Not so sure about it now though.
