Poch was effectively given a daycare centre to manage this season, Chelsea needs stability to develop all those kids they've pinned their future on, not another reset
To double on this if you look closely most of the defeats could have been avoided if the team was matured enough and knew how to manage games. Most of them are having their real first experience at an elite level.
Poch next season I believe can pick up where this season ends and correct the wrongs.
experience wont work if we have a wack manager, I don't think experience itself solves the entire problem , within recent weeks all pochettinho had to do was change the tactics and build up and look at what happened, it was always the manager and his way of thinking the same way with teuchel , if teuchel doesn't change his tactics and his mindset he will end up like Mourinho , pochettinho needs to grow as a manager and if he doesn't there is no matter of experience that will solve the problem, remember he had neymar messi and mbappe at psg and he still bottled it, poch doesn't need experience he needs to learn new methods new build up play and new tactics immediately he needs to learn change things up and trust the youngsters he needs to trust like andrey santos cassadei and angelo gabriel , he needs to trust them
sometimes managers should stop pointing fingers and look at himself if you give this group to de zerbi he will get something out of them
No, he's just a terrible coach!!!
you don't think another coach like TT couldve done better
No talk about how a top level winning team got dismantled after the forceful sanctions and eventual sale, that alone must have been devastating for the club as a whole and everyone working there not to talk about the matter of having to buy a new team which also includes buying players for the academy and women’s team.
Chelsea have been through a lot in 2 years off and on the pitch. Not many clubs can survive what they’ve been through. Hats off to everyone involved in keeping the dream of getting Chelsea back to the top of English and European football.
Boo hoo. They all knew who Chelsea was run by and what he was about. Their success is built on bloody oil money, just back to reality for them.
Thank you for saying that. 💙
There's just obv hate against Chelsea. Had this happened to Liverpool or Arsenal or Utd...we wouldn't hear the end of it.
Pochettino has done an absolutely incredible job with this team. An injury crisis like no other, a squad full of inexperienced kids some of whom are obviously out of their depth. The fact that Poch has had this team playing at a top 4 level for the last 5 months now shows he has them going in the right direction. To sack him now would be as equally insane as sacking Tuchel in the first place.
I have the same opinion and people for some reason think I'm mental .
100% keep
we’re definitely building something
once the injured players come back
and this young team continues to gel under Poch
we’re gonna cook
saying this due to 2 good matches while we played 30+ awful ones
Totally agree !
If we have a injury free squad with a Experienced striker and a few additions we fighting top 4 minimum ...
Watch this space ..
We literally haven't had nkunku, James , fofana, chilly etc and a winger as our striker this season and we still fighting top 6
Consider how he received this team with no recruitment strategy, no concrete starters and a mess of tactics, he’s got this team humming at the moment . If it weren’t for Palmer and Gallaghers leadership they would be at the bottom and then maybe it should be considered but he’s got a team that is believing his system. They get the defense fixed and an actual striker they could be flying next year.
If anything i would keep jackson, remember drogba only scored 10 in his first season
Same as Potter then
@@officerdank4644it was a different system and time. I get your point but stop comparing, it puts the players under more pressure
I don’t see the point in sacking him now, he’s only had one season and has been plagued with injuries, give him another season with maybe some new signings and a fit squad and then we can judge him, though I do think our last 3 games will be a big part of wether we keep him or not
The last 3 games is the biggest factor for me. If we continue I. The way we played the previous 2.5 games, win or draw, if we continue in that direction, he deserves 1 more year.
@@nubosite 2 more game now
Never paying for the site but this was great content, thanks gents.
Hindsight has never lost an argument
When cucurella was signed, matsen has not had his successful loan deal, the option was cucurella or an unproven academy left back as your starting defender
But if you know you have an upcoming academy player in that position (we had 2 Hall and Maatsen), why go spend big on left back. We didn’t spend big on a right back because James, Lamptey and Livramento were all in the pipeline
@@Obidii
Chelsea always have players in thier academy
It is the best system in the world it does not mean that all thier academy players always play for them, that is Rare.
They have never waited for 3 years to let An academy player develop. When they need talent now And have a gap in the squad
And the right back is different, James was already a leading star, he is not a matsen level talent, he is far batter, that's why he broke into the first team
And he has 2 champions league already, and when fit starts for England. Please he is generational
You are also forgetting you sold livramento and lamptey as well
Because you had james and azpi, you did not need a new right back, and like matsen, those youngsters left
Also you just bought gusto for about 30 million
So you did go big on a right back, which too is understandable, (lamptey has fallen off and livramento career is kicking off)
But they could not wait at chelsea any longer, chelsea had two senior team members, and those academy players needed first team football, so they left. (They could not go on loan as fifa changed the loan rules, putting a limit on loans)
And recently they got gusto, if those players stayed at Chelsea, they won't be as good as they are right now due to a lack of playing time, everyone got what was best for them
Cash for Chelsea
Development for the players
@@Obidii
People also forget that the loam system changed
So Chelsea could not keep all this wonder kids on board
As the kids needed first team football and could not go on loan
They would also not have developed properly if they stayed
It appears the academy model is intended only to sell graduates to other clubs as far as the financial modelling at CFC goes. Despite players showing promise. Is constantly cause of frustration with fans following the Cobham product line. Owners and short term coach appointments for the first team (1-2yrs) means no one cares really for what's good in footballing terms for the first team in terms of Cobham players being retained generally speaking. There is no process for it that facilitates academy players coming thru to first team in any meaningful system... It took sanctions to have it happen in recent years. @@anjolatope-babalola2338
@@anjolatope-babalola2338 forget about waiting for Hall, Livramento was academy player of the year and could play left back the season he was sold. He would’ve made a good deputy for Chilwell. Is Cucurella 65m better than Livramento, No he isn’t and that’s the problem. Selling academy guys to buy scrubs. I’m not bothered if you want to sell academy players, but the people you buy have to be significantly clear upgrades. If they’re not you’re much better sticking to what’s at home
Klopp finished 8th in his first season , and yes he wasn't given a "billion pound squad" but if you actually look at the squad most of that billion isn't even our starting 11 .
55mil nkunku / 80mil fofana / 50mil -lavia / 30mil ugochukwo - injured the whole season basically. 100mil enzo was playing with injections and pain for the past 6months .
Captain and Vice captain Reece James and Chilwell absent for most of the season ,
First team GK Sanchez -injured 70% of the season.
Literally 70% of chelsea's current starting 11 is our B-team .
Most of our key players are out .
Saliba ( 1 player ) was out from arsenal for half the season, and arsenal dropped in form massively .
+ Poch was never given anything he wanted .he asked for experience he was given teenagers and the second youngest squad in the world . He asked for a Broja replacement in the winter transfer market , he wasn't given anyone . He has made gallagher the captain , and gallagher will probably be sold in the summer .
Wow, finally asking this question. Guess it can’t always be about United and ten hag.
Poch steay had 10+ first team players injured all year. He might not be the long term answer that will win you the UCL, but he should be able to finish his contract
His tactics have been aweful all season, he has misprofiled players all season. Played them out of possesion etc.
It has taken him until the end of the season with his job on the line, losing at half time to make a basic tactical shift to fix a problem created by the way he wants to play.
We are playjng better now but is it too little too late?
Agreed. 100%
I think a lot of these players have been misprofiled long term or had to be played out of position due to injury. Colwill for example at LB was due to a injuries to Chilwell and Cucurella whilst Gallagher as a 10 is what he’s always played as but I think the last month or two have made it very apparent that’s he’s very much a central midfielder not an attacking midfielder
Hasn't got a winning mentality, isn't as ruthless as Pep or Klopp. That said when their squad is fully fit if they actually buy a decent forward they should be a shoe in for top 4. Especially with MU in a mess, Liverpool getting the Dutch Homer Simpson and Spurs being Spurs.
Very good analysis on this boys, nice to see an unbiased video when it comes to Chelsea for once 💙
Boehly straight up said that their plan is coming together. If the owners think it's coming together then they would have absolutely no reason to change coach. That statement is as good as saying they are backing Poch.
Bohley only owns 10% of chelsea egbahli is the real man who makes the decisions
Poch is a good man. He should stay at the bridge and become a club hero
Considering these guys are supposed to be football experts the lack of understand as to what Pochettino has done with this injury ravaged bunch of kids is absolutely staggering. They sound like they should be working for the Clearlake PR department. Most serious football journalists believe it would be insane to sack Pochettino yet they seem to think it would be a perfectly reasonable decision.
The managerial market just isn’t there, so Chelsea effectively have no choice to keep him. He’s got basically one deal left, give him till next Christmas and see where the club is at.
Poch in. Our SDs deserve more scrutiny for the team put together. Getting Mudryk for that amount, players like Washington, Angelo seems excessive. Forcing us into selling performing players like Trev and Connor
Update: They will not
Honestly i question Poch’s approach to handling this project. It lacked urgency. Given the pre-season and amount of time he’s had at his disposal, he could have implemented a workable system more quickly and gotten them all in tune. Injuries or not. I don’t agree with the sentiment that the team does not have leaders on the pitch. They do, but Poch was not able to get the most from them. In summary, my point is that it was possible to achieve a more comfortable league position if Poch did things differently.
What are you talking about? Pre season had so much urgency and then we started getting loads of injuries and he had to adapt and change and he did and then the key players in that change started getting injured. He captained Reece which the fans wanted btw then eventually Conor got the armband and although Conor is young Poch is planning for the future and we all knew Thiago was done after this season. Give me one manager you think will do a better job building this team and getting the best out of all these kids bar possibly Xavi Alonso who's never gonna manage Chelsea. You won't be able to give one.
How the hell is he responsible for all the individual errors or non performances?
Give me specifics about where you'd change the tactics and I'll listen.
@@carney290688 I don’t need to tell you anything. And you have no right to yell at me. I only aired my opinion which I am entitled to as much as you are entitled to yours.
Pochettino seems to be making some progress with the team. Look how Arteta has progressively brought his Arsenal squad around making a few key changes each year. This Chelsea squad is young and riddled with injuries which make it hard to be consistent and play with cohesiveness
It feels wild to me that Chelsea would consider binning Poch at this point. Sure, they've been inconsistent and just about challenging for Europe is below expectations, but there's clear growth in the team, since losing toi Wolves in February they've only lost to Liverpool (after extra time), Man City and Arsenal (albeit that last was a complete gubbing) and have wins over West Ham, Tottenham, Man Utd, Everton, and Newcastle. The downsides have been more draws with teams they *should* beat, like Sheffield Utd, Burnley and Brentford but that's all part of the growth curve they're on.
Given the need to pull a team out of the shattered remnants of the last Abramovich era side and the proceeds of a sugar junkies shopping spree in a sweet shop, a cup final, a semi final and finishing 6-8th is a decent return.
Thee forward line is clicking (and with Nkunku not even factored in yet, Chelsea have OPTIONS next year) midfield seems to have sorted itself out a bit and in recent weeks the defence seems to be coming together too.
Chelsea don't need big surgery this summer and I reckon their hierarchy should move heaven & earth to attain stability and give Poch the support he wants.
He's on Ancelotti money. Debatable if the man-management is equal. Tactically not the most savvy. And in-game management has always been questionable. CV trophy wise is far far distant. Also has very little to no connection with the fanbase. In an ideal world Pochettino would be replaced.
I think if he survives, it's just because of the lack of proper top options that the club hasn't already exhausted. Or the hope/expectation that someone better will emerge and take over in a year or two when Pochettino's contract comes to a natural end.
Lack of connection to the fanbase with no sense. His man management skills are clearly being showed. Every player currently is showing improvements.EVERY PLAYER. His in game management has been good not because y'all want substitutions at 60 minutes means that's the right thing to do. With the players he has to choose from he has done a great job to get us where we are to a finals where the players lost and semi finals where the players also failed to make use of the chances we got. The manager has been doing more positives than negatives if you can't see that then you clearly don't want to see It
@@akeemhanniford6401100% agree, the POCH out camp are absolutely deluded and unfortunately our owners are as well if they think they can get someone in to do a better job giving what's available and the circumstances surrounding the club.
They absolutely should keep him. Hes been stuck with a donkey up front and finally started to get them playing

We Good to Go !!!
Title shoud be called "Should Chelsea sell more hotels to keep PSR in check?"
Yes, because CFC has to deal with FPP, PSR and for an improvement in performance, team chemistry, and the tactical tweaks that Poch implemented. Most importantly, he develops young players!!! let the man finish his contract and see if he earns another contract and I think he will certainly do just that. A new manager will take back CFC to greater turmoil which we can’t afford as fans!!!
“They’re working for each other, being less selfish”. A team that fights each other to kick a penalty when they are up 5-0 totally works for each other and is not selfish at all.
We need at least progress of some kind before we move on from Poch. Whether it's only 3-4 players carrying us or team wide growth, there needs to be something for the next manager to build on. We aren't going backwards any more, let's bank a 4th to 6th finish next year and then grow from there.
Let’s have our monthly Athletic podcast about “Chelsea and their managerial situation”
No apparently he won’t be
That would be the first move from Clearlake Capital has made that I would really be furious with. I was upset about Tuchel and some of the signing have been and still are question marks but it would be a ridiculous move to sack him now
The last 10 PL games, Chelsea is 3rd on the form table behind City and Arsenal. So, what's the club's max tolerance for Poch? The first 15 games? I don't think they'll fire Pochettino.
Does Chelsea even need a new signing?
Nkunku, Lavia, etc. will feel like new signings.
Since club didn't keep Thiago Silva, maybe need an experienced CB.
Comparing Poch when he joined in July to now is wild.
When he joined it was "there is no project you need to win straight away etc" now its "give me another £1b and season to finish 6th"
True,
No player ever played together, not a single player was bought with his imput.. not to mention avrege age of 23
Poch will be there next season no doubt.
I think they will but I just don’t see him winning anything
Given an entire team that was essentially all turned over in less than 2 years with mostly young, inexperienced players - he’s done what should be expected. Chelsea need stability and less turn over for things to improve, if they keep turning over managers and players, they’ll stay mid table however much money is spent
Get behind our manager.
KEEP POCH!
YES! THEY DON'T HAVE OTHER OPTION!
Matsen 35

Total 113 million
James - 60
Cornor - 40
Chalobah - 30
Total 130 million
Total of 260 million
Striker for a maximum of around 70 million, a young rb, max spend if around 100 million. Balances the books by 160 millon
Your second list though...
Which of the James are you referring to
Honestly you guys need more patience. We were spoiled under Abramovich and its been chaos since the transition of ownerships. This season is the first time I'm seeing progress and stability. You're absolutely nuts if you thought this team was gonna get top 5 at the beginning of the season. Keep Poch until at least the end of his contract and we'll have good foundations to hire a coach who can really win trophies or even keep him beyond that and take a chance on him long term. Bottom line is sacking him this early is a huge mistake and will completely derail the clear progress we're making. I promise you it will be a mistake.
Competing for top 4 should’ve been the expectation I’m sorry. And certainly being midtable for majority of season certainly is ridiculously underperforming. Two and a half games shouldn’t change the overall concerns of the club and its model.
@@newrecruit100 I'm sorry but City, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Arsenal and even Spurs have much better squads imo and have stuck with their managers apart from Spurs who brought in Ange and has had a much better team available to him including Son who's one of the best forwards in the world. Who do we have up top? A child who hasn't played in the premier league before in Jackson (not mentioning Nkunku because he's been out injured most of the season and well Raheem is dogshit imo). Then you have Newcastle to contend with and they could have been higher up the table themselves if not for injuries and Tonali getting banned. United are shit but they're not a new team and this is their managers second season in charge. So with all that information at hand how on earth are we expecting top 4 at the beginning of the season with a squad of kids who have never played together? Then on top of that we ended up having the worst injury crisis of any team in the league. Make it make sense please.
Chelsea has no other choice but keep Poch. Unfortunately it won’t change Chelsea position ina table as well because Poch is more of a PE teacher then good manager.
Please keep Potch
Don't say they all do that, it's always been just sterling
Most players have been fault for that, not just Sterling. Even last game, Mudryk could have crossed a easy ball for Jackson but he tried to take hard shot and missed.
For POCH to be excepted by Chelsea fans he needs to stop banging on about how much he loves Spurs and wants to go back to them one day. Also sort out the constant injury issues somehow. Don’t play players with a hernia injury for past six months for a start.
Poch is trying to clear up the mess he inherited. He will find another club if he's fired. he has demonstrated he's still a good coach. The owners are clueless and deluded. They have wasted their investor's money and destroyed value. I heard they fired the entire medical team and not surprisingly have an injury crisis. The sporting directors running the club have never played or coached the game, they are data analysts from clubs that have never won anything, Brighton and Monaco. I have two master's degrees in finance and business. I have worked on Wall Street and analysed data. Football data analysis sounds like a scam. How do you compare the Ukranian and Premier Leagues? Do you have enough data to evaluate a young player who has played a handful of professional games in another league, like Jackson? I started watching Chelsea in the 1960s, went to school in London, and my best friend has always supported Spurs. This badge nonsense is ludicrous in this day and age. The top managers are foreigners who have coached everywhere, like Mourinho and Ancelotti. The best managers have probably picked up experience at a club the fans don't like, otherwise, you end up with Lampard or Terry as your head coach. Getting rid of Poch would be another mistake, It took Fergie seven years to win the Premier League and Klopp five years.
No point replacing him in the summer, that would just reset the rebuild all over again. I was skeptical of Poch but he has proven record of developing young talents which is exactly what chelsea needed. The team is clearly improving over the course of the season both individually and collectively. We see palmer, gusto, madueke, caidedo, cucu, jackson etc all improving. It would be a mistake to cut the progress prematurely.
Chelsea needs stability if they want to develop all those kids they've bought, not another reset
If poch gets sacked ill be so annoyed
Keep
They’re better in the standings than they were last season so it’s an easy decision to me. Frustrating at times during the season, he’s staying
Cole Pálmer might be a much better than Mount as a player but he is way less marketable he’s if we are kind mediocre looking and a bit gormless in interviews. Might come into himself more as he gets older.
Poch needs more time
Regardless of the results in the last 3 games Poch should get another season.
Chelsea will do, what they always do, when good coaches are avaliable.
Break the bank to get them.
Poch is as good as any of them.
Everyone in the room knows Poch as been a disaster expect for the Clonlake Trolls who trying to make out he is doing wonderful things
It's incredible how journalists blow things out of proportion. The theories and speculations are just too much. If Poch is to get sacked then we would find out from CFC. If Chelsea fails to comply with PSR we would hear it from EPL. I'm done with these stories

This is pathetically lazy journalism.
Why do the players get off without any blame?
The players mess up and it's Poch. Theh play well and it's their potential being fulfilled.
"raw players". No way any manager send them out to argue about penalties or run down blind alleys.
The Athletic is better than this.
I hope not
No
Liam sounds so much like Southgate it really annoys me. So boring and irritating.
Poch needs to be sacked as soon as poosible!
Both Chelsea and man united manager have a bad team and bad luck with injuries
Chelsea with key players back look more promising to be fair.
One guy made an assist. One time he chose to pass over shooting; ”…it’s a compelling indicator of growth”.
You can’t be serious.
Chelsea has many instances where attackers are very selfish. Since Madueke is now regularly playing, him assisting is growth.
You want Poch to make sugar out of shit. Who bought these terrible players? Jackson is probably the worse #9 ive ever seen
Terrible take. Sure Jackson has missed some good chances, but finishing can improve.
He is 22 and has more PL goals than strikers who are older than him. Like Nunez, Alvarez, Jesus.
Jackson will come good, no worries.
I’m not sure I’d go that far. Give him time and he will definitely get better
@@brianlynch2260 might take was not about Jackson. My overall point is that he has bad players. Yes he has goals. Most are easy tap ins. He’s missed 10 goals this season. He should be leading the PL in goals. If he hits half of his missed goals we’re easily top 4
Jackson has improved, and he has 13 goals. He will come good. The more these young players improve, and play as a team, the better the attack will come. We have scored 70 goals this season, and that's good from an inexperienced team. The defense is a bigger problem, 59 goals against is not good enough.
First
Now chealsea takeover the real mafia so the can't win any trophy
I was contemplating to subscribe before I heard 'The strongest league in the world' statement 😂
Rubbish
The Premier League is definitely the strongest league in the world. Most other leagues have a few high level teams and the rest are awful. In reality though it’s more like 2 or 3. Pick out the club in 10th place in each league and compare them. Even though Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool are usually dominating around the top. It’s the overall level that the other teams have that makes it competitive. There’s Chelsea, Man Utd, Newcastle, Aston Villa, West Ham for a start. Then you have Leeds, Brighton and Everton. Compare the quality of the lower clubs from each league to see who’s league is best
@@whyfi1141 man, there's no english clubs in european tournaments competing for the trophies. Look at the semi-finals - Atalanta, Marseille, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayer Munchen, Real Madrid, PSG, Borussia Dortmund. 2 Italian clubs, 2 French clubs, 3 German clubs and 1 Spanish club in total. But 0 English clubs. So how THE HELL is it the strongest league in the world?! Most popular? Certainly. Most entertaining? Probably. The strongest? No way!
@@whyfi1141 put ANY English club against Atalanta for example. They would smash ANYBODY. Have you forgot already how they crushed Liverpool in Anfield last month? 🤣
Give me a break lad
You’re proving my point by listing the top couple of clubs from each league. I’m not saying the premier league has the best clubs I’m saying the league is most competitive. Plenty of the most recent seasons have had premier league clubs in most European finals. Most entertaining is because it’s the most competitive. That’s different from having the best clubs. Anyone can lose a match in the premier league because it’s the most competitive.
How many clubs from each of those countries have one the champions league?? The reason is because the premier league overall has better clubs. Are you honestly suggesting the top 10 clubs in any other league are at an equal level to the top 10 premier league clubs? Do you really think any other league has more closely matched clubs.
Did you honestly just say Atalanta are better than every club in the premier league? The competition is harder to win because it’s more competitive.
Chelsea need to add two years on Pochettinos contract
i want him to go, he didnt do well for the talent the squad has
Raw talent, not nurtured talent, the board sold the players to nurture those talents which is why it's only now coming together. Chelsea & those raw talents need stability not another reset
An hire who might I ask ur one of those tuchel fan boys I guess tuchel ain't it if it's him u want stick with poch for the time being the man hasn't had a full 11 to work with all season an knobheads as owners to deal with
Chelsea cheating and being unethical? Surly not.
Never wanted this spursy joke of a manager to begin with. Tuchel has made it crystal clear he's open to return to Chelsea and it is a no brainer to bring him back. Sadly our owners won't because clearly the players are satisfied with mediocrity and the owners have no clue what they are doing or the direction of the club. Looking at this season, it's clear that Poch cannot go head to toe with the best managers in the league. Lost final to a Liverpool team full of kids, lost to a Man City team at their worst this season after a grueling Champions League draw. Those games were for the taking and you cannot tell me the squad was not good enough to beat those teams IF we had a better manager. Sure, we will probably get top 4 next season with Poch but I know for a fact that we are not getting more then that and maybe a cup run. Just him fooling us with his rhetoric at the beginning of the season talking about how there is no time at Chelsea and then switching the tune when it was obvious we could not compete.
Poch is trash manager of the highest quality, rubbish team selection, trash tactics, rubbish in game management......wont be long before he is sacked
Simon and Liam are both awful writers and journalists. Who gives a shit what they say.
we need to sack him and get De Zerbi, he will unlock Caicedo, Mudryk, Colwill and Enzo.
Bro you don’t got a clue about football
Were you born after we did this exact thing with Potter?
"Billion pound squad" has 30mil jackson 30mil madueke , academy graduates gallagher and chaloba . 30mil badiashle , 40mil palmer , 25mil petrovic starting . 🫣
