A middle-road perspective would be that he was most certainly overhyped in prior seasons, but with valid reasons. He's achieved quite a lot for a young manager. Much like some of the other managers in the last 3 years - there are other parties involved in making things difficult for clubs. Not to mention what @el.aye.bee.4477 mentioned which is that - in Europe at least - there is an injury crisis from the players being overplayed and a transference of sensationalism in football. @el.aye.bee.4477 Please explain how last season is context for this season? Did Chelsea have Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto, Moises Caicedo, or even Mauricio Pochettino last season? Context has to be relevant; such as the fact Chelsea dropped more points at home against the bottom seven clubs, than they dropped against the other seven clubs in the top eight; which clearly suggests struggling against lower/more defensive teams this season, and has nothing to do with last season. The irony of calling my comment devoid of context and idiotic, then raising points which don't even meet the test for comparison, nevermind qualifying as context.

I disagree with Stevie here. I think that Chelsea is on the right track to success. I think Poch is a good coach but if he and the club disagree over the squad then they are right to part ways. It seems fairly amicable, I don't see a problem with it.
The manager is the guy who interacts and coaches these players every day and he is obviously the guy who knows what the club needs most and what his team needs in order to succeed and it's just sad that the owners didn't want to give him that and give him a summer where he can bring in what he thinks the team needs
A stat that sums up their “circus show” is Enzo Fernandez a World Cup winner joined Chelsea in January 2023 for over 100 million which made him one of the most expensive signings in the premier league, now he’s about to play under his 5th manager in a span of 18 months which is literally less than 2 years.
Chelsea finished the season well but having a new manager every season isn't good for building chemistry or consistency, I have a hunch Poch and Boehly didn't get along too well behind the scenes for the whole experiment to end after just 1 season.
Boehly isn't the problem, the problems lied with Ehgbali, Stewart and Winstanley. The fact that they hired Poch but their desired player profiles didn't match his suggests that they never really knew what they wanted and now they want this perfect, fictional manager who's expected to wave his wand and mount a title challenge with a squad full of injury issues and still needs maturing.
Man really thinks Klopp asked for all their successful players lol. it was Michael Edwards who brough in Van Dijk, Salah, Mane. After Edwards left, klopp got Nunez lol, goes to show that many managers talent ID is utter garbage
As an Ipswich fan I would be hugely disappointed if McKenna went for the cash like this and ditched the players who have stayed for him during promotion
Do the people who run Chelsea want to be a club the develops and sells players or a club than wins trophies? It feels like they want to develop and sell.
Are these pundits trying to say that Porch is too ambitious a manager the he can't listen to what Chelsea owners are suggesting and wait to see whether it works or not ?
The Premier is terrible in the way they sack managers at the drop of a hat. It's not just Chelsea, my club, Tottenham, have played manager roulette to no great long lasting gain. Yes, a team usually gets a new manager bump, but that doesn't usually last more than a dozen games give-or-take.
Trigger Happy Chelsea owners have no clue about football. The impact of this is going to be very devastating on the players. It is such a shame, especially considering how the season ended.
I am sick of listening to these pundits trying to claim och improved the results. he didn't. Enzo having his surgery forced a change of position for Gallagher. Then results improved. Poch kept picking Enzo and Ciacedo in the double pivot and it clearly didn't work. Poch made so many selection errors and played favourites.
Well you kind of can because he's learnt from his worst mistakes since. He's not an Elite manager and won't become a serial winner at this point but he's got the occasional trophy in him if he's in his ideal setup, same applies to Mourinho, he's had so few trophies recently because he hasn't been in the right setup. You don't need to be an Elite manager to actually win trophies, the conditions just have to be right. Elites just manages to pull it off almost every season.
Stevie: He took Spurs very close to a Premier League title. He got beaten in a Champions League final... He knows what he is doing Poch has UNMATCHED levels of PR!
Not gonna lie United and Chelsea are so miss mismanaged that I wouldn't be surprised with United appointing Poch and Chelsea appointing ETH and thinking they just pulled off the managerial signing of the century
I remember watching the last game chelsea played an the commentary even said this chelsea team didn't even go into the next gear that's to show you how the team started to play
Jokes aside, Chelsea are one of the worst ran clubs in world football right now. They’re not a serious football club and until that changes, this project going absolutely nowhere and you can see that their biggest problem is Todd Boehly and their management. I know they didn’t have a great season, last season they finished in 12th place, this season they finished in 6th place, overall that’s seen as improvement, but that wasn’t enough for Mauricio Pochettino to keep his job. There was a period where they were 10th 11th yet he didn’t get sacked and how come they agreed to let him go days after securing European football when they had a strong end to the season. Pochettino yes he wasn’t the right manager for this project in the long run, but their season showed signs of promise and he deserved more time. Just when you think that they were steadying the ship and getting things on track, they got rid of another manager. That’s the one thing that hasn’t changed under Todd Boehly, which is their revolving door around managers coming in and out. Yes with Abramovich they had a ruthless approach when it came to managers when the team wasn’t meeting expectations, unlike Boehly, at least they had an owner with guys who knew a thing or 2 about football. Boehly and his management are absolutely clueless and nobody knows what they’re even doing. First it was Thomas Tuchel, then Graham Potter and now Mauricio Pochettino. Even though they’ve spent over a billion dollars, they’ve had more managers than trophies won and haven’t come anywhere close to the top 4 in the premier league. The cycle with this owner has continued simply because the manager is the one who doesn’t have control over who’s making the decisions at the club like the players they’re signing getting rid of or loaning out. This is why they keep signing overpaid mercenaries who are on ridiculous long term contracts and are constantly changing managers left right and center. As I’ve brought up before, they’re bigger than the club, but you have to at least be able to back the manager and actually be patient with him. Chelsea aren’t a club that usually does that and they want immigrate results and you need to be good enough otherwise you’re out. That’s why being a manager at Chelsea it’s one of the most difficult jobs for any manager particularly with this ownership because when you spend a lot of money the expectation there is to compete for trophies and get in the top 4. They’ve not been able to do that this season and the board needs to realize that success doesn’t happen overnight when you’re lacking a strategy and a plan. Realistically, who’s the best manager for Chelsea because you don’t know what’s next for them and you fear that they could make the same mistake since they haven’t changed their ways.
I still don’t get why Stevie loves poch so much it has to be cuz he gave Liverpool that CL he has done nothing but get close to trophies and bottle it 😂

It is a bonkers set up. They sacked a Champions League winning manager, were fleeced spending over a 100 million on midfielders that didn't deliver. Poch is better off out of it.

But for their selfish business interests where they can make money. This deal needs to be reviewed again. Because we're headed for failure.
Sorry..6th place is not an accomplishment, especially when a lot of those results hung in the balance until the final whistle. Between that and Poch's inflexibility with the rigors of his training methods, it was never going to work.

These guys played football & forgot when the league started this past season? Look at the whole body of work from the season & it will tell you all you need to know. Gab doesn"t make sense with his reasoning. Agree with Stevie. They are looking for a puppet. Another season of chaos and frustration expected with the Blues, unfortunately.
Either Pochettino got another good offer...I think or Chelsea ownership just shot themselves in the foot, for dismissing one of the best coaches in European football.
These Americans are doing a USA style data driven analytics thing. They want a 'coach' who will listen to everything they tell them to do, even in game changes. They've got data analysts monitorng players during games and then telling managers who needs to be substituted and what tactics need to be changed. Same is gonna happen at LFC. Same is happening at Leeds as well. Data, Data, Data. They think they can moneyball their way to success.
Then why did they spend so much on Enzo, Mudryk, and Caicedo? That’s the opposite of money ball. Every team uses data and if you deny that you are delusional. Anyone not fantasized about manager of old would have told you like Gab that Poch should never had been in charge at Chelsea.
@@brianbunker2150 because they are filthy rich and stupid? Who knows. I know everyone uses data but the Americans are using it USA style. I know this because I know people inside the game. The data guys have almost complete control over player purchase, selection, formation, tactics, in game changes etc.

those are hypocrites just know that they want chelsea to fail they have been saying alot of negative things about how we play but now allof a sudden they are slting bohley for sacking poch dont even take single word from themwe will get another manager and we will be better
Please show me where Poch was hyped as if "he’s a world cup or 2 times champions league winner". He was receiving criticism all season long while everyone was ignoring the injury crisis he had to deal with all season long.
Poch overachieved with tottenham...he developed harry kane, delle alli and others....we all know psg and chelsea has meddling owners that make the managers job harder
We're expecting too much, too soon from clubs that need development.
@@ctrprogdid he achieved what mouriho did at porto and Chelsea as a young coach.
The anger is, at Tottenham, they said poche is the best coach in the world ( with no trophy to show aside copa for espaniol).
I don't see why Chelsea should sack him at this late hour, should have been sacked earlier before the improvement.
Don’t know why Ale took a dig at Juergen’s comments about Moyes when he was not asked. Totally disrespectful and he does that all the time.
Because Ale has a fragile ego. Not kidding or mocking either. It’s just the reality from watching this show for years. If you watched ExtraTime he got really petty with Kay and almost didn’t answer a question.
Because moyes not good
The man is a complete buffoon. I have no idea how anyone can bear to listen to him, or how he can be paid to speak on TV when he's so insufferable.
And Ali is the least qualified pundit on this channel. Hence his attitude and takes are just absurd.
Mark this video and get back to it when Poch got a job to see how off these people are
As long as they don't sell Connor
Most certainly they are selling him and Trevor C ...
Lots of Chelsea fans are absolutely furious that these people have got rid of another manager just as he was improving the team !!!!!
He wasn't improving anyone. He just realized the basics after season is about to end.
He were not improving, we conceded over 20 shots in the Forest andd Bournemouth games, the players were actually just bailing him out in those games. The west ham game felt like an anomoly and tbf west ham didn't really turn up that day yet we still conceded 3 shots off the post. We also didn't really play will that much pressure towrds the end either. Poch also didn't like that the board are bringing in a set peice coach which we desperately need as we have been awful defending from them all season. Poch is an old school manager, he creates lovely bonds with the players and gets them to buy in, which they have bought in all season, but his methods are certainly questionable to say the least. There have been so many cases all season where even I can see the glaring issues in the structure and management.
@@obinnabede6718 Brother implemented 1 tactic after game week 33 after we got pumped by arsenal and were in the prcess of getting pumped by villa, he was so frustrating. I swear he felt like a spy sent from north london to sabotage us from how awful his decisions were.
Gab is still convinced it was a good decision.
The ownership needs to be reminded of where the players were pre-poch. They were lazy and unfit, a group of individuals. Poch successfully brought them all together.
Well half of the starting lineup were new players and the others were shipped out so I certainly hope they weren't gonna be lazy and unfit.
@@andrewlee8843 yeah ok so 1 half were lazy and unfit, and the second half had to adapt into a new "team"
@@joshsittrop6357 None of the players we kept were the bad apples other than Sterling to an extent, even though he was our top goalscorer in Potter's season. The players we kept were the core good players to build off of. Mount and Havertz being the prime examples of the bad apples, so glad we shipped them out of the club. Mount demanding 250k a week and "injured" all season kicking up a fuss and Havertz being his usual donkey self.
Poch has relied on individual brilliance all season other than a system and tactics. Without Cole palmer, we would have been in even more of a hole. Poch didn't even want Palmer lol, he wanted Dier and dybala lmfaooo, thank god we didn't give him the reigns on transfers and we actually have sporting directors getting key players in Gusto, Palmer, Jackson, Caicedo, Enzo, keeping Colwill even tho Poch played him left back.
@@andrewlee8843He never said he didn't want Palmer, he said he didn't even know about his deal until everything was already agreed.
Also Colwill played LB because both Chilwell and Cucurella were injured and Maatsen just wasn't his type of player in this setup
Under Pochettino, Chelsea dropped 20 (TWENTY) points against the bottom seven sides: Wolves, Everton, Brentford, Forest, Luton, Burnley and Sheffield United...11 of those points were dropped at Stamford Bridge...
That is why Chelsea missed the top four by six points.
WOOOOW
Under Pochettino, Chelsea are six places and nineteen points better this season than they were last season. Last season, they missed the top four by twenty-nine points. Your comment couldn't be any more idiotic and devoid of context.
@@el.aye.bee.4477lol..owned him😂
They also had more injuries than other clubs. The reason why they performed well late is because of lesser injuries.
As a Chelsea fan, Clearlake are simply CLOWN LAKE😂..and I'm pissed!
I’d rather have Cesc Fabregas than this Mackenna guy like seriously
Why? McKenna has experience....albeit mostly in the lower leagues, notwithstanding he was coach of United's under 18s and worked under Mourinho, Ole ......plays expansive front foot football.....
Big difference between age and experience, and Chelsea has experienced players: Sanchez isn't a kid, Sterling is 30 this year, Chilwell is experienced and has 5 years at Chelsea, James is experienced, Nkunku is 26.
There is so much angry reaction, but Pochettino had enough resources to get 6 more points and make the top four... He spent so much of the early season doing crazy things.
Are you out of mind? Sanchez, Chilwell, James & Nkunku were out for most of the season
@@pallavpurkayastha Don't even pay that dude any mind. He has no idea what he's talking about.
@pallavpurkayastha The pundits were talking about having experienced players in the squad, even if they don't play most of the games.
I listened to the audio, and then commented... You just replied to my comment, which only lists experienced players in the squad.
@@MuhammadImHardBruceLeeI get you,but its not only experience,it's the fact all the players were new at chelsea and over 18 were in their first full season at Chelsea.

never liked the ideal of firing a coach after just a season or 2. if u really want to rebuild u need to give that coach time to let him build an identity for the team. Which is why i want ManU to stick with Ten Hag. Yes this was a very disappointing season, but getting a new coach will just create another reset for the club. let him build this team to something. If ManU still sucks then get fire him, but give him time
Roman made sure that the new owners will have to invest in the club rather than profit from the club like glazers.
Poch was okay but he was not the one.
I think the top 4 was the minimum requirement and control of transfers was also a factor.
The new owners don't know ball
Poch clearly didn't know ball all season with his tactical ineptitude. The owners aren't even the ones who have to know ball, we have sporting directors
I disagree with Stevie here. I think that Chelsea is on the right track to success. I think Poch is a good coach but if he and the club disagree over the squad then they are right to part ways. It seems fairly amicable, I don't see a problem with it.
I think the issue with the Chelsea ownership is that all they want is a yes man, someone who will not question what they are doing
Let's see, who will be correct
why would any manager take a position where they dont get to dictate personnel
Jurgen is excellent! great to listen to him always 👌
The owners are not serious. They should be forced to sell the team.
He's probably delighted to be out of there
Chelsea finished the season well but having a new manager every season isn't good for building chemistry or consistency, I have a hunch Poch and Boehly didn't get along too well behind the scenes for the whole experiment to end after just 1 season.
Good job Chelski. Keep up the comedy
Who do you support?
Poch is the biggest comedian north london spy of the lot
Stevie is too old and senile to understand this.
The premier league has other 19 club with mature players but Chelsea isn't 20th on the table
You would take a better paying, higher profile job in your career too. Don't be a hypocrite.
You would take a better paying, higher profile job in your career too. Don't be a hypocr!te.
Stevie never agree with anything protaining with chelsea
Do the people who run Chelsea want to be a club the develops and sells players or a club than wins trophies? It feels like they want to develop and sell.
Are these pundits trying to say that Porch is too ambitious a manager the he can't listen to what Chelsea owners are suggesting and wait to see whether it works or not ?
Chelsea should've and could've been atleast top 4 this season.
The moment when Poch said I have strong feelings for Tottenham after the win I think that was the game changer
Has anyone noticed Chelsea had 5.9M sub now they have 5.1M
The shepards pie and omelet comparison kills me🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do they even have a plan on how or who will replace Poch?
Talent is not enough. You have to have heart and this team has NO HEART.
In which league is there a Red Bull team champion?
They are champions in selling players.

Why dont they consider Kompany? Hes a decent coach and wont challenge the hierarchy

The problem is that you just can’t take Tottenham out of Mauricio Pochettino
Well you kind of can because he's learnt from his worst mistakes since. He's not an Elite manager and won't become a serial winner at this point but he's got the occasional trophy in him if he's in his ideal setup, same applies to Mourinho, he's had so few trophies recently because he hasn't been in the right setup.
You don't need to be an Elite manager to actually win trophies, the conditions just have to be right. Elites just manages to pull it off almost every season.
@@Shadowespeon17 I don’t know why people judge everything off of trophies
100% agree...the board wants a puppet!

Stevie: He took Spurs very close to a Premier League title. He got beaten in a Champions League final... He knows what he is doing

I remember watching the last game chelsea played an the commentary even said this chelsea team didn't even go into the next gear that's to show you how the team started to play
Gab seems to argue for the sake of argument. If he agreed with the others, why would anyone bother to listen to him ?
Makenna? How many times has a championship coach done a good job with an epl team?
I don’t think Chelsea have a plan. I want them to win, but the ownership group/directors have no idea what they are doing
bring back OGS and Mckenna and link with McClaren @Manchester United again.
Maybe their plan is to not win trophies but improve young Player and sell them at higher price
So Chelsea saw Spurs methods in the last 40 years and thought “yes, let’s run with that for a few years”

When the team is doing bad, its the owners fault. When the team is doing good, the owners get no credit. We were expected to finish 8th and we finished 6th. I dont agree with sacking Poch, but the only thing we can do is let it play out and see what happends.

It's just May 22nd 🤦♀️🤯
It is a bonkers set up. They sacked a Champions League winning manager, were fleeced spending over a 100 million on midfielders that didn't deliver. Poch is better off out of it.
Chelsea have been hiring and firing for a long time, it's not a shock Chelsea firing a manager after one season
Getting championship managers 🤦🏾♂️ ........ I want Flick as the manager
Chelsea’s lost, Pochettino with enough time could’ve have accomplished big things for the club.
I wonder why, during the sale of Chelsea Fc , the management decided to sell the club to ignorants and to people who don't have any football sense, who doesn't know the rules of the game. But for their selfish business interests where they can make money. This deal needs to be reviewed again. Because we're headed for failure.
Has Gab been paid off to give good PR for Chelsea
Sorry..6th place is not an accomplishment, especially when a lot of those results hung in the balance until the final whistle. Between that and Poch's inflexibility with the rigors of his training methods, it was never going to work.
Trending in the right direction with 1 month’s worth of performances? I know ESPN likes the spicy takes, but this is very lazy. These guys played football & forgot when the league started this past season? Look at the whole body of work from the season & it will tell you all you need to know. They’re not following the club closely. Using the same narrative about a “revolving door” of managers is an embarrassing take.
Sounds like the perfect job for Southgate...
They use it to the point of live data analytics on players during games and they then send text messages to the manager telling him to make substitutions or formation changes or whatever. The data guys have almost complete control over player purchase, selection, formation, tactics, in game changes etc.
