These early 90's cup finals really are the last ones where the cup still had the romantic pull. BTW great to watch Des Lynam again, he's still the greatest.
Nah it still had it into the early 00s. Still has it now for a lot of teams, but a lot of the bigger sides not so much nowadays as they don't seem to take it as serious. Still great to win it if you're team does though.
@@johndawson5556are you messing? It went shut after the 1996 final. When Man Utd took part in the Club World Cup in 2000, that ruined it. Don’t blame Man Utd for that but the FA Cup lost it’s importance.

I met Bruce at Anfield soon after this match and he was a gent. Also met DB, Ronnie, JB and Dean that day. I held a signing session with with Rob a couple of years ago and he was a diamond.
In the days when the BBC and the football authorities actually worked in partnership together to promote the FA cup final to the maximum and, the BBC had a programme that was equal to that task! These days sorry but in comparison to this, feels pretty lacklustre and most definitely nowhere near equal length coverage of the pre build up.
While most of you prefer the football of today, it's really doesn't come close to the personalities of the sport during this era. Can you remember the last time of Cup Final morning the press and media were allowed on the team bus and interviewing the players and cracking jokes? Nowadays the game is run like a bank, the fun sucked out of it and so far removed from the working man's game - now full of prawn sandwich eaters, corrupted oil money takeovers and overhyped footballers.

Couldnt get in and met a girl in Balck Bird Hill in a boozer and went back to her house. Her brother got wind a scouser was in her room and set the doberman on us. Spent half hour pinned to a tv watching with one eye while they decided what to do with me. Got legged all night always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fucking shit day that was.
