- I was really excited recently to get out under the stars and shoot multiple milky way motion timelapses using some Zeapon time lapse equipment. I've been working on various techniques recently and even though my testing continues I was delighted with the results I got from these 2 nights of shooting.
I'd be really interested in your comments below.

Love that hay elevator at 14:40 Richard with the rising MW core 👏👏
Yes it's a beauty isn't it Paul.
Cool timlapse. Enjoyed the rabbit jumping by.
Haha, well I was wondering if anyone would notice the rabbit. Did you see all the starlink satellites near the end of the Jaguar timelapse ..???
@@nightscapeimages.richard I saw satelites, but I didn't realise it was starlink..
The shot with the car is awesome!
Thanks so much Wayne. Yes I was really pleased with that one as well.
omg that milkway shot with car ...FIREEEEEEE ............... u got urself a new subscriber

What more can I say. Brilliant Richard, brilliant!!!
I'm very pleased you enjoyed it Robin, thanks so much.
@@nightscapeimages.richard ❤
Very interested in trying this. There are more insects visiting those trumpet vines than I would of thought at night. Great video as always 👍
Those bugs are quite amazing Bruce, I didn't notice them at all when there live at night.
I am always in awe of your work Richard, top drawer once again, loved every second 🙏🙏🙏
You're a very kind man Izzy, thanks so much mate.
@@nightscapeimages.richard praise where praise is due, I always say what I see (even if it gets me in trouble 🤣🤣🤣) keep safe 🙏🙏🙏

Can I upvote more than once???😢
Outstanding presentation and explanation. Great videos Richard.
I’m disappointed I live near an airport wheee there is a lot of light pollution so will have to plan a trip.
Awesome stuff!!!!! Thank you.
Thanks so much for your support. It's always good to go on a road trip to find clear and dark skies.
Wow. I travel from
Sydney to Daylesford to visit family a few times, so I know how beautiful it is down there.
Thanks for watching Andrew. Yes it is beautiful for sure.
Awesome Timelapse clips. Thank you for sharing your thought processes and the how-tos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching.
Awesome stuff again Richard. Every time I see your content it makes me want to grab my gear and head out and start shooting.
Well I'm really pleased to hear that Sam, thanks for watching mate.
Your videos are very amazing full of useful ideas. Thank you

Thanks from Russia! Great work!
You're very welcome my friend.
The motion time lapses were great Richard d a really good watch mate.
Thanks heaps for checking it out Carl, appreciate it.
Really enjoy your videos. You provide excellent information for beginners like myself.
Thanks heaps for watching Eric. Appreciate your support.
This is one of my most favorite video about timelapse with slider. I have a slider and didnt try it yet..but I will after watch this video and of course ..tell about your channel to some photographers friends again. Thank you!!
Thanks very much for watching Luis, always appreciate your comments.
Terrific results and nice tutorial Richard. Looks like fun.
It was a lot of fun shooting these Tony. Appreciate your comments.
Absolutely amazing and beautiful 😍
Thanks so much for watching.
I've had a Manfrotto 055 of one variety or another for 30+ years and had the same frustration with being able to use the low height settings that the legs allow for but the centre column does not. Last week I finally implemented the solution that I came up with years ago but couldn't bring myself to do. I took a hacksaw and cut the centre column to about 6 inches. No problems, no regrets.
Haha, yes I've done that in the past as well . .Great work ..!!!
Stunning work mate they all look awesome.
Thanks so much Brad, always appreciated mate.
Richard another awesome vid, love it love it just love it. Great use of the slider/camera lens combo.
Thanks very much for watching Paul, always appreciate your support my friend.
Superb video, as always. I've always wanted to try a nightscape timeless but believed it would be tricky. As with all your content, this has given me the inspiration and motivation to have a go! Thanks, Richard.
I'm really pleased to hear that Simon, thanks again for looking.
I love timelapses, I love yours. And the flower one.... magical
Thank you so much for watching.
The Milky Way timelapse with the.moving camera ha created a wonderful effect. Thank you so much for sharing it. 😀
I'm very pleased you enjoyed it Amit.
Amazing motion timelapses Richard, they all looked awesome!😀😍😍 Feel suoer chilled now, so thanks for that!😌😴😴😜
Thanks a lot for watching Peter. Did you notice the bugs crawling all over the flowers at night .. ??? I thought you'd appreciate that detail.
@@nightscapeimages.richard yes, they were all over them, could spot them easily, especially on the right side😀
Absolutely fantastic video Richard and as you asked I believe the flowering vine you are referring to is a Bignonia capreolata (Cross-vine/Trumpet Flower)
Thank you so much Mat. I knew a few people would be able to identify it . .I love the flowers anyway.
Outstanding Richard As usual love it
Thanks for tuning in again Jeff, really appreciate it.
Great video Richard, I look forward to the day when I can go out and be totally confident in what Im doing and what the results should look like, I tried the sky replacement method the other day on my images from last weekend and I was just about to call my wife in to have a look….and we had a power cut😂😂😂I’ll try again this weekend
Thanks for looking Nick. It takes time for sure. In fact next weeks video may be helpful to understand the learning process a bit more.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
Thank you for your kind words as always Milorad.
@@nightscapeimages.richard You are welcome. And thank you for sharing magic with us.
Watched this video three times tonight. May use my skyguider to do some. Gave me some ideas that I don't think have been done before.
Good on you Bruce. Ideas are always good to experiment with.
Great Video once again Richard
Greetings
Many thanks indeed, appreciate you watching my friend.
Awesome video Richard as always love the timelapses 👌
Many thanks indeed Dennis. Appreciate your comments.
Cool shots!
Thanks shaun
Thanks Richard, I'm just waiting for some clear skies so I can try this with my "Move Shoot Move" rotator/tracker.
Fantastic Bob, I'll be keen to see what you can get.
G'day Richard. The hay elevator is the shot that appealed most for me :). All great work though. Thanks mate, keep safe.
Thanks so much John. Yes they all have their own unique attraction. Appreciate your comments as always.
Thanks again Richard
You're very welcome Spence. Thanks for watching.
The extra movement really gave the images a three dimensional quality. Absolutely loved them Richard.
Yes they become animated and take on a whole new appearance Mark. Thanks for watching.
Really awesome time-lapse btw
Thanks heaps
Thanks for sharing Richard, how can you go wrong with old machinery and the Milky Way, just beautiful. Love the low lighting setup, it just brings the foreground to life.
Thanks so much Jeff. Yes I totally agree .. it's always about how we add light to these subjects.
Richard you are an incredible talent. Absolutely blows my mind every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks
for your time and efforts.
That's very kind of you to say Adam. Thanks so much for your support.
Gear, skill and probably more importantly, imagination. Beautiful Timelapse Richard 👌 you set the bar so high with Astrophotography it’s impressive to watch your work 👍
You are very kind indeed my friend, thanks so much for your comments.
Wow Richard these are absolutely fantastic. I’ve been wanting the genie slider and you may have pushed me into buying one after this video! Man I’m making a goal this summer to get more Milky Way and storm timelapses. Thanks again for the inspiration and keep up the amazing work my friend!
Thanks so much Mike. I've always loved timelapse and it's one of those things that requires time and patience .. but the results are always worth it.
Stunning as always mate, u r an ace
You're very kind as always Chetan.
Great as ever, shows that even a simple flower can make a great timelapse...It has given me more impetus to do more of these type of shots. Cheers Rich
Thanks for watching Malcolm. Yes even very simple things can be so wonderful at night.
Very impressive Richard! You have got me wanting to get a slider now, lol!
Thanks a lot Todd. Sliders can be quite expensive . .but they don't really need to be.
Motion time lapse has always appealed to me as do all four of these sequences with a great result in all of the clips Richard. Good to see the cottage in daylight for a change and some clear skies too.😁👌👍
Thanks a lot Geoff. Yes I'm the same with time lapse. It takes a lot of effort to capture and process but the results speak for themselves. I'll be doing plenty more this year. I have some other gear to work through as well. We've generally had lots of fine weather this year . .we missed most of your horrific weather.
beautiful
Thank you for watching.
Very cool!
Thanks for watching Brian
the venus optics 15mm is a beast!
Like a lot of third party lenses . .if you get a good copy. Mine has a few issues but it's good for time lapse. Thanks for watching.
I really like your videos, made me subscribe. Thank you for the videos and the help!
Thank you so much for watching my friend. I really appreciate your support.
Outstanding, Richard! I thoroughly enjoyed the time lapses and the video itself. Thank you for sharing your techniques and enthusiasm. It is truly inspiring.
You're very welcome Luis, I appreciate you watching.
Oh wow Richard! They look amazing! Love that slider. Might have to investigate. And the idea of a camera turning your timelapse into a video in camera has got me thinking. Hmmm.
I'm glad you're thinking Jules ... it's a beautiful way to bring our photos alive that's for sure .. but it can be time consuming ..!!!
Amazing
Thanks so much for watching Arthur.
Loved the light on those subjects. Wish I could find random, old, awesome stuff like that in the field.
Well, if you can't find them, add them! :) Go to antique shops and have a ball.
Thanks for watching Laurentiu. Even an old fence post will do ... they are all around the place.
Thank you so much for those four indepth setups and the explanation. Just wonderful results you got there. This timelapse theme is a huge extension to your already mastered multi-image static nightscape photography. Can't wait to see more. Thanks again for sharing ❤️👍
Thanks a lot for watching again my friend. I love timelapse but of course it is very time confusing. Still, I will continue experimenting.
Great video Richard, once again something new. I had to laugh at about 13:00 when you described turning that rusty old jumk into a work of art - my first thought, does he do portraights ! The timelapses turned out really well plus you gave some good ideas.
Thanks for watching again David. Creating work of art out of junk is my specialty ... it's everywhere ..!!!!
Первый просмотр и первый лайк!!! Ждал твоего выпуска!!!!!! Шикарно !!!!!! Творчество 🧑🎨 на высшем уровне!!!!!!
Thank you as always for your great support my friend.
Nicely Done...Bravo!
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look Mark, appreciate it.
Top draw again Richard
Thanks for your kind words AstroLapse.
Great video, Richard. For stabilising the slider, Smallrig sell short 'Magic Arms', sometimes with the clamp. I find these perfect with my slider, if I want it at low level. I'm in the UK, so not sure if they're available in your neck of the woods. However, Neewer also sell similar ones, right down to 6 inches. Just search on Amazon and you'll see them.
Thanks a lot Andrew. Yes I do have a few magic arms. The biggest problem with these sliders is that they incorporated a ball on the end of those rods to attach to the slider. I wish it was a 1/4" thread like everything else.
That's a bugger. It's horrible when companies tie customers in to proprietary solutions. I hadn't spotted that. Maybe a little DIY with a drill and 1/4" tap?.. 🙂
I bought the 800 mm Zeapon some time ago and have totally under-used it. This video provides me with some motivation to get out there and try it at night. Thanks Richard.
It seems like a pretty decent slider. .but I guess time will tell. Thanks for watching.
Richard, my favorite astrophotographer on RUclips! Astonishing work, sir! Ps. I noticed that the skies of Australia are magnificent for astrophotography. You are blessed to be Australian shooting under its skies, Richard!
Thanks so much Mohammad. Yes Australia is a beautiful place to live.
You are honestly so inspiring. It is such a shame my area (UK) lacks dark skies. One day I will travel to Australia and join one of your workshops! Thanks Richard for being so passionate! Dan
Thanks for taking the time to look Dan. I reckon you could still get some good results with this stuff. Just concentrate on the foregrounds.
Amazing work Richard, those rime lapses looked fantastic. Thanks for sharing the behind the scenes and technical expertise mate, well done 👍🙏
Thanks heaps for taking a look Adrian. Always appreciate your support mate.
Muito bom Richard, sempre passando seus conhecimentos e técnicas, abraço.
Thanks so much my friend.
Very nice timelapse . I was feeling peacful while watching the movement of stars with the nice lighting .
Yes that's the exact feeling I get watching these time lapses. Appreciate your comments.
WOW Richard, just WOW! This was so enjoyable and a fantastic insight into how you go about making these Timelapses. The flower shoot was beautiful, the others were too. Thank you for sharing this with us 😁👍
Thanks so much for your kind words Duncan. It means a lot.
Very cool Richard, loved that still subject and the passing of time around it feeling, particularly the hay rake. Well done.
Thanks a lot my friend, always appreciated.
Oh, your videos are always so inspiring! I've been interested in learning timelapse, so I will look into the Zeapon system. As for that flower, it looks like either a trumpet vine or a crossvine. I have several crossvines in our backyard and they are stunning when they bloom.
Thanks as always for your great support Andrea. I appreciate your comments.
I just watched the movie with bated breath for the third time. I am totally delighted with your timelapses. I wish I could make a timelapse as attractive as yours.
I will be happy to look forward to the next ones. Greetings!
You're very kind indeed Lukasz. Thanks for your support.
Very good indeed!! I love how the out of focus stars display their spectral (temp.) colours
Thanks a lot John. Yes I love that characteristic also.
Fantastic video Richard! Absolutely loved the results! 🤩
I really appreciate that Lisa, thank you.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Those two nights in between courses were really cracking, Richard. I had great skies at Cairn Curran and Smeaton. Loved the video, thank you.
Thanks for tuning in Philip. I love Cairn Curran as you know . .glad you got to explore a bit.
Great timelapses, Richard. Thanks for sharing your expertise and images.
Thanks so much for watching Don
World class mate, 👏 so crisp and smooth, definitely gives me inspiration to play with timelapse.
Thanks heaps for that John. While you're shooting those massive panos you could have another camera doing timelapse mate ..!!! You're already spending the time out there.
🙌
Richard - great video as always. So the flower is Campsis radicans, common name trumpet creeper, a deciduous vine native to the eastern USA.
Well there you go. Thanks for that Christopher . .I knew someone would know.
Amazing Richard! Inspires me to get my gear out! Always enjoy your videos and your channel!
I'm really pleased to hear that Westlake, thanks for watching.
The centre column of the Manfrotto #055 tripod centre column is two pieces. An Allen Key fits in the middle of the column and loosens the expanding piece and the bottom of the column can be pulled off. I’ve removed mine for the same reason. I’ve even made my own stubby column so I can get the whole centre column out of the way.
Thanks a lot Mike. Yes you are correct .. I just didn't have the right tools on hand to change it.
@@nightscapeimages.richard Great thing about an Allen Key is that it takes up no space in the camera bag. Hopefully, an old one from IKEA that's laying around will do the trick. No cost if you lose it.
@@MSACoachMike Yes I'll chase one up.
Fantastico!👏👏👏
Thanks so much
Just incredible 🔥 love this kind of time-lapse be interested in seeing the whole editing process one day.. thanks for the tips as always
You're very welcome Gavin. Thanks for tuning in.
Another great video Richard, the video has inspired me to get out and do more Timelapse’s and experiment the the in camera options as well. Thanks for sharing :)
You're welcome Alan, thanks again for watching.
👍
Those time lapse videos came out great, I particularly liked the one of the old jag. Never heard of Zeapon before, equipment looks well made and sounds like the support is there for problems.
Thanks a lot Three-phase. They've been around for a while. I love the old Jag as well.
Great video Richard, I really enjoyed how creative you become with the second shot and that 35mm lens. Keep up the great work ;)
You're very welcome Adrian. Thanks so much for watching.
Amazing sequences there Richard. That slider looks really interesting, really love the tools that are available to us these days at a fraction of the cost they have been. They have historically always been let down by software, so great news to hear that is improving. Love those Ulanzi lights, I have a bag full of them 👍.
Thanks Dominic. Yes e have a great abundance of tools now to help. I'll be doing more with the Genie linear as well moving forward. I like the all in one solution of this one though. They each have their strengths and weaknesses.
Great video, Richard, and beautiful timelapses. For those that don’t have a dedicated rotator, you can repurpose a star tracker (just adjusting the latitude to suit) to get similar results. The models with multiple speed settings, such as the Star Adventurer, can give quite pleasing results, although not as controllable as a dedicated rotator I imagine. Looking forward to doing some more timelapses this season!!
Thanks a lot Paul. Yes it's amazing what you can use to get a bit of movement.
I think your on a winner with Zeapon Richard. With reliability, reasonable priced with the additional after-sale service compared to Edelkrone’, often the simplest things are best.
It’ll be nice to see how good Zeapon system works with the Timelapes View plus ?
Thanks for watching Derek. To be honest I haven't used the Timelapse + View for over a year now. The internal intervalometer in the Nikon Z6ii has pretty much replaced the need for it.
@@nightscapeimages.richard The Z series must very flexible Peice of equipment incorporating very useful additional features especially render a 4k timelapes in camera.
I’m still in the dark ages with a D850, If your not using & want to sell your Timelapse plus, I’ll be very happy to be its new owner 🤩
@@derekrowanphotograpics Haha, well I may just need it at some stage, but I'll keep you in mind Derek.
Simply amazing results Richard👍 love the high res results (especially the out of camera mp4)….ur vids really make me think I should jump ship from Canon to Nikon or Sony ;)
Thanks for watching. All the camera brands are good. It all comes down to using them creatively.
cool. i show this to my daughter to heal a knee that was just hit by a woodframe of a bed (spiky part).
Oh, I hope she's ok . .thanks so much for taking the time to comment.
My brother and I thought passively about a motorized sliding mount after seeing Alyn Wallace review the Edelkrone, but the cost is so prohibitive. Good to know there's a reliable alternative out there.
Yes I bought into the Edelkrone system thanks to Alyn's video, but I'll be selling all that gear now.
