Thank you for this video. Had some distortion/strange ringing coming from the output of my Focusrite 2i2 device (both speaker output and from the headphone jack). Did your first suggestion of reinstalling the drivers and that worked for me! Back to clear and crisp audio. Thank you so much!!!
First video I've seen where someone mentioned anything about NVIDIAS broadcast software possibly being an issue. For three months I've been back and forth with focusrite reps, who convinced me my unit was defective and to upgrade. Well here I am, first day plugged in and this thing is crackling/lagging and distorting just as bad. I'll try the NVIDIA suggestion. Thanks mate.
I was having this same issue as of recently, I dated it started around a few weeks back when my windows operating system updated. I tried your method, and nothing seemed to work. But when I changed the sample rate from 48kHtz to 96 that did the trick, or even going further up to 176 or 192. Any particular reasoning for this? All the pops, clicks and lagging distortion went away.
It has the crackling sounds on my desktop pc, but when I plug the scarlett into my laptop it has none. It may be a power issue like you said. What should I do to fix this?
Have you tried removing all USB devices except from the focusrite? It could be a software conflict or a setting conflict. I recommend trying all of the options in this video, if none of them help I can only assume there is a hardware fault in your desktop PC.
Had problem were input audio sounded like it was going through a blown amp/speaker ie weak distorted sound a few times. These solutions didn't work for me however simply changing the sample rate in the ASIO panel from 48k to 44.1k and back to 48k worked for me!?!?!
The same principles apply, is your USB bandwidth overloaded, are your sound sample settings set up correctly, do you have nvidia broadcast software installed etc.. Just a different layout on other products
@andrewbyford I use Logic on my Mac so I just tried it and yelled on the Bitwig and it sounds fine.. I had a Yelling Higher pitched vocal Rapper and all of it Distorted not coming thru so it must be Logic pro
I assumed I understood what Custom Mix does, but now I've realised setting it back to Playback 1-2 is the fix i needed. The distortion stopped.
Going from Sample Rate 48 to 88.2 worked for me!! :) Thank you!!

Hope it works for you, let me know if it does! It was driving me crazy going through everything to try figure it out
My Scarlet 212 with Rode NT1A mic works for the first few minutes. then it starts to crackle up (i tried it on audacity and clean feed)
Did you try the steps? Audacity is what I normally use. Other than these I can only think it would be hardware related

Not sure, sometimes it seems to conflict for odd reasons, glad you managed to sort it though!
for me was just a matter of uninstalling and reinstalling

Strange one, the settings might have had a conflict and when you changed it, it possibly overrode the existing both system + ASIO settings
All this is for WINDOWS. . no help
