It's nice that you shared with us you taking advice of the store employee and checking for hardwood instead of pretending it was your idea. Honesty is rare these days! Thank you!
The dark couch disappears in your dark accent wall. You need something light against the accent wall to make it pop. Put your entertainment center on the accent wall and your couch on the wall opposite. Now both accent pieces (accent wall and couch) will pop.
I was thinking that maybe a picture/painting on that accent wall might do the trick. Having the light from the windows might really detract from viewing the tv, if they moved the couch over. It could be the lighting too (her last clip shows the wall way lighter).
I agree. And the other commenters mentioned that the couch would block the windows and the light from the windows might reflect on the tv. I'd repaint that accent a lighter colour.
Place the curtains up higher and wider than the window and have them.to the floor. Gives the room more height. I love the same color of the wall idea, maybe in a pattern with other colors.
Gray will be too dark, keep it lighter....if you can find something like the pillows on the couch it would be just enough color to tie it to your accent wall. Looks great so far!
Try using Rejuvenate All Floors Restorer and Polish Fills in Scratches Protects & Restores Shine. I used it on my hardwood floor after removing the old carpet.
Totally agree. I "redid" a/k/a refreshed hardwood floors in my mom's house in 2016 and the Rejuvenate worked wonderfully to clean first and the "finisher" added a semi-gloss sheen and protective coat. The floors looked new after I finished and it wasn't hard work.
Love the blue in the living room. Mustard yellow would look great with it. I am a fan if patterned curtains. They are cheap enough to change out for an easy update
I strongly suggest getting neutral light curtains and make sure you put the rods close to the ceiling and let the curtains drape the floor. This will make the room taller and more grand. Use your color with art work, plants etc. Dark or colored curtains break it up and there isn't any focal point to the room. Check pinterest! I do love the color you chose for the feature wall!
Wow you have a great landlord. I live in Northern California and have never had a landlord that would allow me to paint unless it was the same white they had on the walls.
Love the LR wall color. I agree about the curtains. I am SO happy you talked to that neighbor... you guys really lucked out. The new floors look great !! Happy you got your couch back. Loved your pizza party..... all that work sure builds up a big appetite.... I sure remember those days. You really made a huge difference in this video. Well Done !!!
We are retired and bought a fixer upper… online due to the height of the pandemic. When we arrived it had old wall-to-wall carpet. I had a hunch and we pulled up a test area in one of the closets. Gorgeous hardwood floors! We need some trim between the floor and baseboards, but no rush. Nothing like the serendipity of discovering a hidden treasure!
I love that accent wall, and you lucked out with that flooring, woohoo! You inspired me to paint my kitchen, I used that Beyond Paint and did a dark charcoal bottom and lighter gray top, it came out so good with just 2 coats, but now that everything is up I can see some spots that need touch ups. But with just 2 liters of paint, I still have plenty left over to touch up or even do a third coat. So very happy to have finally knocked out a project I'd been wanting to do.
What a fun surprise to find the hard wood! Love the coziness the paint brought to the room! I vote cream or white, floor length linen curtains(super cheap, but lovely on Amazon). I would use artwork, a big rug, and accessories to pull in the blue.
I absolutely love how you both redesigned your new place! I also love your "junkstock" yellow t-shirt you were where at the end of the video! I have been following your channel for over a year and I am obsessed with your creative taste that you both have! You guys are awesome, and I always look forward to your videos!
It's amazing the difference a coat of paint can make! How awesome to take out old carpet and reveal beautiful hardwood floors. I guess it's a good thing you spilled the primer! Enjoying your videos!
Cream curtains with a stitch stripe or subtle design in the blue from the wall would be pretty. Something resembling the throw pillow would be nice too.
Those floors are beautiful!!!! For the curtains, you can use drop clothes! They’re light beige, you can use curtain rings with little clips to hang them. They’ll look great and save you huge on window coverings! You can even stencil or customize them as you want!
Tip for staple removing : just have a container, box,... to dump in staple and debris while moving across the floor. No need to sweep it all up afterwards and risk scratches on the wood.
I love to see a young couple working together to improve their financial life, building for the future. And you two are great together, love lazing at my home watching workers!!
I love how the channel has evolved and you both have learned so much about renovations. I commend you for your work ethic and positive attitude. Love watching your channel!
I love the color that you painted the living room wall. That roller really was a great investment !! I think that curtains to match would really look good and carry the color all over the room like you said. I'm really glad that you have hardwood floors under the carpet. I love hardwood floors. It's amazing how well you and Neiman work together, Lauren. You make a great restoration duo. Thanks for including us in you journey of redoing your rental house. Can hardly wait on your next video !!
Me. Too. I really enjoy watching these 2 work together. It reminds me of my husband and I. We had a electrical and plumbing business. We were together 24/7.. He has passed now so watching these 2 brings back such wonderful memories..
I think it would be really cool to pull in the orange tone of the wood trim across the room with orange/brown/leather-y tone curtains! The orange tones pair nicely with the blue you have in the accent wall. It pulls from the contrast of the door trim against the blue wall and highlights it across the room with curtains :) I would lean into the bold wood color with the bold paint color!
Once really cleaned you could use Restore a finish to give the floors a second life. I am sure the wood would appreciate a “good drink” after all the years of living under those layers of carpet
You might paint a lowboy dresser the wall color for the tv cabinet, and that would bring the color over. And I agree with suggestions for light curtains, but with a light pin stripe in blue or grey...
I think I may go for a plain cream curtain and bring in some bronze with big planters, big clock and things, such a beautiful colour palette, the royal blue walls, couch and cream & bronze...it will never date and if you fancy a change after a while you only have to change the blue wall as almost all colours go with cream & bronze. Your doing spectacular as always, such a inspirational couple, well done.😊
Go light and bright on the curtains, get them long and hang them high up on wall over window. Ikea has great drapery for a great price. On the a/c wall, you could hang the rod wide so that the drapes just hang on each side of the unit. What a break on the hardwood floors! Love them!
I have been watching since before you stopped your teaching job. I truly enjoy every video you post.❤️👍. For being so young you are making such great choices for your future. Keep up the great work.
You two have made so much progress. I think you could find curtains that are cream with a stripe or plaid in that wall color. I would definitely hang them a few inches down from the ceiling to the floor The one with the AC unit would also be long. They can be pulled to the side in the warmer months Putting the curtains high will make the ceiling look higher
Your transitions are getting very Bob Villa-ish 😂 I love it. Very nice colors you’ve picked for the walls and great score on the floor. You both keep me motivated, keep going strong.
I think a cozy blanket on the back of the couch would help bring out the couch against the dark wall, and a nice bright pastel or cream multi frame painting would be lovely on the accent wall (the kind that has one scene broken up onto 3 canvases)
Really excited for you!!! I'm a college professor and I have a coffee and end tables that have seen better days. Don't have money to buy a new set right now. So thinking of giving it a shot.
So awesome your landlord is letting you do what you want in there, including ripping up the carpet!
It's nice that you shared with us you taking advice of the store employee and checking for hardwood instead of pretending it was your idea. Honesty is rare these days! Thank you!
You saved a ton of money by removing the carpeting and revealed beautiful hatdwood floors. Win, win!!! Awesome.
Don’t forget to replace the outlets! Super easy and cheap fix and it’ll make your home feel 20+ years newer.
The dark couch disappears in your dark accent wall. You need something light against the accent wall to make it pop. Put your entertainment center on the accent wall and your couch on the wall opposite. Now both accent pieces (accent wall and couch) will pop.
I was thinking the same...
I was thinking that maybe a picture/painting on that accent wall might do the trick. Having the light from the windows might really detract from viewing the tv, if they moved the couch over. It could be the lighting too (her last clip shows the wall way lighter).
Except they will cover up the windows and light
I agree. And the other commenters mentioned that the couch would block the windows and the light from the windows might reflect on the tv.
I'd repaint that accent a lighter colour.
Totally
Grey, ugh! I don’t know why, but I hate grey because it reminds me of a casket! I love the color you picked in the bedroom.
A lighter colored curtain with a subtle blue or gray stripe or print would be pretty! Dark curtain would make the room dark.
Lighter colors for the curtains - such as white with a pin stripe of gray going through it or something to that effect. Great job you two!
Thanks so much!
Agreed a lighter colour is a good design idea contrast with darker areas
Yes I'd start with white or off white curtains. After you've lived with them for a while, you could always add a darker colour curtain if you want.
Yes, that was my thoughts too, some soft striping.
Agree! A solid dark color would close up the room and make it look narrow
Place the curtains up higher and wider than the window and have them.to the floor. Gives the room more height. I love the same color of the wall idea, maybe in a pattern with other colors.
Totally agree
Dark curtains will make the whole room feel dark and heavy. Definitely go light!
Oh my god, your laying on the floor scratching the wood is a WHOLE MOOD & I love it!
We found hardwood floors under our crappy living room carpet in our house in South O. So glad you found the same.
Curtains: a subtle stripe with blue and ivory with a complimentary color. Don’t go too matchy-matchy
Gray will be too dark, keep it lighter....if you can find something like the pillows on the couch it would be just enough color to tie it to your accent wall. Looks great so far!
All I can say is the landlord hit the jackpot of renters with you two.❤️
Definitely use some wood restorer on the hardwoods. They will look so good with minimal work
Be sure to get floor to ceiling curtains, it makes such a big difference. What a great job you’re doing!
Try using Rejuvenate All Floors Restorer and Polish Fills in Scratches Protects & Restores Shine. I used it on my hardwood floor after removing the old carpet.
Yes!
I use it too. It made my ancient wood floors look new again!
Rejuvenate is the best
This is a great product. I did my cabinets that are over 30 years old and they look great.
Love the paint color! For the curtains I would go with a light neutral color, either a gray or beige depending on what colors you have in your rug.
Paint the trim white.
Love the blue in the living room. Mustard yellow would look great with it. I am a fan if patterned curtains. They are cheap enough to change out for an easy update
Thanks for the tips! we'll have to check them out!
I'm a bright color person, the more the merrier! Ikea also has some great patterns. Find which ones speak to you and go for them! :D
Get curtains that are like a cream color with a stripes of gray and blue. Love both accent wall colors. Thanks for sharing 🤗
Maybe you have a entertainment center in storage to flip
Wow you have a great landlord. I live in Northern California and have never had a landlord that would allow me to paint unless it was the same white they had on the walls.
I agree with a light colored curtain. You can put room darkening blinds behind them for tv watching in the daytime. It looks great so far!👏🏻
Modern minimalist look-no curtains; perhaps just accordion shades. Bring color in with wall art and accent rug.
I think the rental is coming along so nice. Love the colors. You two make a great team; you work so well together. Blessings on everything you do.
How lucky those floors were in such good condition! Congratulations on your new home!
The right tools make such a difference
Sheer off white with blue florals sounds like it would compliment both the wall and couch
I love the way you two work together..❤️🙏🏾
Love the LR wall color. I agree about the curtains. I am SO happy you talked to that neighbor... you guys really lucked out. The new floors look great !! Happy you got your couch back. Loved your pizza party..... all that work sure builds up a big appetite.... I sure remember those days. You really made a huge difference in this video. Well Done !!!
Love the music and pace of the video! Your landlord is one lucky guy!
Sure is! Glad you enjoyed !
Beautiful!!!! It's such hard work but it's such a blessing when you get wood floors under carpet! Lovely wall colors!
Most definitely! so happy we found it!
The wood floors are gorgeous! Hard work pays off.
Love the blue in the living room, absolutely bring that color to the other side of the room in drapes! You guys work so hard, big congrats.
I absolutely love how you both redesigned your new place! I also love your "junkstock" yellow t-shirt you were where at the end of the video! I have been following your channel for over a year and I am obsessed with your creative taste that you both have! You guys are awesome, and I always look forward to your videos!
Looking great so far!! I hope your landlord appreciates all your hard work. And I hope with all this hard work , you can stay there for a long time.
I think you are right about the curtains matching the wall !!!!
LOVE FROM OKLAHOMA
Love the gray with the wood floors and moulding.
Those floors are nice for a surprise!!! Y’all are too cute!!!
Love that you ripped up the carpet. The floors are beautiful
I think a pretty blue would compliment both the wall and the sofa. I think it’s going to look nice when you’re finished.
That's great, the hardwood floors look absolutely beautifully
I laughed at Neiman hopping on the floor pulling the staples great job you both
I love to see a young couple working together to improve their financial life, building for the future. And you two are great together, love lazing at my home watching workers!!
I love the idea of matching the curtains/drapery to the accent wall!!!
So fun to watch especially the speeded up, i chuckled. Looking so very cozy! Great job!
The hardwoods with the accent paint walls and white walls looks so good!
It is looking really good! Oh so glad you have hardwoods underneath. They came out great!
i would love to see the Landlords reaction to everything you have done to the house your living in.
I think that the blue curtains would look great. Just love your videos
I love how the channel has evolved and you both have learned so much about renovations. I commend you for your work ethic and positive attitude. Love watching your channel!
I like the idea of any shade of gray for the curtains! It will go nicely with the room for sure
I’m just a little bit into the video but I had to stop and tell you how happy I am to see you on a step stool and not a bucket! More comments to come.
Love the new paint colour and I think light grey curtains will look nice 👌🏻
Light colored curtains, maybe artwork to bring over the blue to the other side of the room.
I love the color that you painted the living room wall. That roller really was a great investment !! You might paint a lowboy dresser the wall color for the tv cabinet, and that would bring the color over. And I agree with suggestions for light curtains, but with a light pin stripe in blue or grey...
Light curtains with a pinstripe would look good also.
Yes!! I think we are finding some solid options. Thanks for the idea!
It would be awesome if you flipped a dresser and used it for your entertainment center! Great work you two.
I vote for wooden blinds with no curtains. Great style!
The paint color in bedroom is really nice.
It already looks so much better! Can't wait for more!
White curtains. Dark ones will look choppy against the light walls. You can coordinate the blue and grey with your area rug.
I agree with painting the trim white
Trim white in every room for a nice fresh look
maybe at one point but for now we'll keep the wood!
A recent trend is to have ottomans where individuals can stretch out, rather than a coffee table. End tables can accommodate coasters for drinks.

Ok im sold on that roller.
Im gonna get one asap..
You guys are awesome the more i watch the more i like
You guys work so hard!!! It’s inspiring and I’m happy that you’re making this place your own. You deserve it!!
Thank you so much!!
Well done the two of you. My 10 cents worth, your curtains should be the exact colour as the accent wall. The room already looks wonderful.
I have been watching since before you stopped your teaching job. I truly enjoy every video you post.❤️👍. For being so young you are making such great choices for your future. Keep up the great work.

Y'all are work horses! Great job!
So awesome! I’ve been loving watching your progress from furniture flipping in your parents garage to here, you guys are amazing!
Love the living room wall. What a save on the floor. You guys are so much fun to watch.
I knew it! I thought, “I bet there will be hardwoods under that carpet!” Love it!
Go with white window treatments and pull that color on your accent wall around the room through accessories. You are killing it!
and Mrs T Looking good well done you two
Love the color
You both are very hard workers!
Your transitions are getting very Bob Villa-ish 😂 I love it. Very nice colors you’ve picked for the walls and great score on the floor. You both keep me motivated, keep going strong.

I love the color. I would bring the blue in with the curtains. Great job. You two are not afraid of work.
You two did a great job. Looking wonderful already. Can't wait to see more.Thank you guys for sharing this ❤
More to come! thanks for watching!
I really love that color, great choice!
You work so well together. Makes life so much more enjoyable. Could you come to Chicago and help me out? LOL. Thanks for sharing.
Really excited for you!!! I'm a college professor and I have a coffee and end tables that have seen better days. Don't have money to buy a new set right now. So thinking of giving it a shot.
