Lauren, learning to sew a straight seam is easier than running a mitre saw, easier than using a paint sprayer, easier than building a new base for a cabinet piece. Don't be afraid of getting a portable sewing machine and learning how to run it. You can make lots of practical things for your home with just straight sewing. You got this!!!!

I have met you both in person, you both are great people and very nice. Just because you are great people and very nice doesn't mean that things sometimes don't work out. You are not obligated to share with us why you are in an apartment, that's your business and not ours. I just know from the brief time I met you both you seemed like genuine, nice, everyday people. I wish you both the best on whatever lies ahead for both of you. Love to you both from a native Nebraskan

Well I am glad I am not the only one that was surprised by your “new apartment” apparently I haven’t kept up as much as I should have. You are a strong (in a good way) and talented women and living alone at least for the time being isn’t bad at all. Lauren you are so talented and I love your videos whether it be furniture flipping which is my favorite but also the crafts and DIYs you do it’s brilliant! Diversifying your channel is a key in longevity and you have the talent to make it a success and the following of us who genuinely care and love what you do. Yes keep giving us new content on thrifting and DIY items along with the furniture and most of all take good care of yourself, you are the only one of you there is so be kind to the terrific gal you are.

Well, I think over the last few months, we have seen a turn in your videos. Your business, not ours. But going forward, don’t put your life out there for everybody to scrutinize. We just love what you do with furniture flipping, don’t need to know all the other stuff. Good luck, kid, you’re still a good teacher.

Just get yourself a simple sewing machine.

You are such an inspiration and have such amazing vision. I found your channel when you were still paying off your student debt and I knew NOTHING about furniture refinishing. I had never used a sander, knew nothing about sandpaper grits, I knew literally nothing. The only thing I really knew was how to source cheap furniture and instead of reselling it cheaply, I wanted to learn how to actually refinish and make a decent profit. Thank you so much Lauren. You explained things so indepth that I started to gain confidence and then eventually tried refinishing. It has been a couple of years and now I can sell pieces close to 600$ or more. You have inspired and taught so many people and I am one of them. Thanks again! God bless you in all your endeavours. He loves you and cares for you. I thank God for you also and finding your channel. ❤

This was cool to see you do some crafty projects. I've thought about spackling for art work but have only seen more 'advanced' type pieces before and don't really feel like putting that much thought into it in case I don't like my results. I'm so glad your artwork was reasonably simple but looked soooo good! I can totally cope with that. I haven't made a frame before and only have a mitre box and handsaw but I think this might be a possibility as well.
As for the sewing, the hardest part is really setting up the machine and dealing with threading and tension. My first machine cost me only $20 back at the end of the 80s. (I'd been sewing using my mother's machine prior to this though for most of my life.) I'm sure if you put the word out, there'd be someone not too far away who could do this tiny bit of sewing for you. Or, even better, they may offer to show you how to do it yourself using their (already set up) machine. If you belong to a church it won't take long to get the word out. Or you could partner with another RUclipsr and double-up on views to one-another's channels. I'm only saying this as I don't think iron-on tape or fabric glues are meant to be used for anything other than temporary items or decorative items that won't be handled much. I'm not sure how your cushions will hold up over time. I've used iron-on tape in the past but mostly for things like curtains which don't get disturbed too much. The other thing about putting out the word for some sewing help is that often fabric-enthusiastics have a stash-load of fabric they can't wait to give away to someone in need! You could do a load of little projects that help them to decrease their pile. (Believe me- I know fabric hoarding! 'She who dies with the most fabric wins' is not just a funny or sarcastic saying! You would be doing each other a favour.)

I do what you are doing may I make a suggestion for the future. If you had made the three of them all one side green and one side you be Chevron then you would have multiple combination pillows i.e. two green one Chevron two Chevron one green just a bit more variety I think having a green on both sides and chevron on both sides, but well done for making the pillowcases rather than getting them off Amazon. As you said you get the exact material you want the exact design you want and it’s something different no one else.

Sometimes it can be helpful if you seal the canvas before you add the texture. That way the colors underneath don’t bleed through. I love reusing and up cycling things for my Decour. Thanks for showing us so many ways to reuse ,up cycle and re-purpose. Keeping things out of the landfill.

Love your content with furniture flipping and thrifting. Maybe going to some estate sales videos too. And would love to see a decorating video of your new space if possible.

I await Thursday's videos every week and this week I was so busy so I'm watching on Saturday morning with my coffee instead of Thursday night with my tea. Btw, apartment living is the best. I do my flips on my tiny patio.

Sewing is actually easier than ironing, and so much more permanent. I bet you could sew if you had a sewing machine, you seem to be able to do anything!

Hate ironing. i sew too... less then id like .. been working on other things. I do like using a garment steamer though... its quicker for most all things. but do get the steaming glove. because you can burn your hand. not fun

If you use gesso before you paint a canvas, it will make the paint/product stick.

It would be fun to see you try decoupage and furniture transfers. Not necessarily on furniture.

Excellent ideas Lauren! From the coast of NC, I'm also excited for the next video!
I almost feel guilty now when I purchase something that I know that I can create myself. In fact, I've almost completely stopped doing it. Keep on inspiring others to stop wasting their hard-earned money and to start having a sense of pride once you've created or repurposed an item that you'll truly treasure. It's a whole mind re-set type-of-thing, you intentionally begin looking at how much money we do throw away, making others wealthier, when we're perfectly able to re-invent or create something just as magical. It becomes a wonderful journey to also bring your loved ones along for the ride!
It's a win-win for all of us and you do an excellent job of "teaching" all of us to look within ourselves. So thank you and may Yeshua continue to bless you and yours!
