- For this Sunday’s update, we have possibly the 2022 best Electric SUV. I have shown you the Hyundai IONIQ 5, Kia EV6 and many other electric vehicles, but after driving the electrified Genesis GV70 everything changed. Something like Hyundai IONIQ5 and Kia EV6 is great all EV cars, but both seemed still not roomy enough with battery on the floor, but being all electric SUV, the electrified Genesis GV70 not only feels roomy inside, but it also feels quick with the dual-motor system. And it also comes with a respectable range (expect to have over 300miles of range in N. America). So, let’s go drive this new Genesis GV70, I mean all electrified Genesis GV70, and see if this is the best all electric SUV.

American student here! I’m so eager to buy a Genesis as my first car after I complete college! I have a Hyundai Sonata that I’ve had since I was 16 and now that I’m 20, Korea has treated me well. Love you channel and so excited to see their future as an EV luxury brand once I hit adulthood!!

This is the EXACT combo I want when these get to the US - the Matte Gray exterior with White Interior! And SO good to see a night view and be able to see the ambient lighting so well. I don't understand why the rear turn signals are on the bottom like that - why didn't they just build those into the brake lights to match the front - some things car makers do just do not make any sense.

Yes, matte grey looks great on the Genesis GV70. I know, when I asked one of the Hyundai spokesman, he said there just wasn't enough room. Hum.... Thank you.
US models have the rear turn signals within the brake lights, not in the bumper. They are red though, not amber like they should be.
@@jeffs6090 Ahhh. I forget that sometimes different countries get slightly tweeked things like that. It's odd why different countries would have those differences outside of legal requirements. Good to know the turn signal will be where it should be even if it's not the amber color that it should be.
I'm from the US and I always love to see what is coming out of South Korea. Big lover of the Genesis brand.

Amazing car. And the interior (or any car from Genesis) makes other EVs looks boring. With some exceptions from Hyundai, Kia, Porsche and Polestar.

Interesting you say that. Genesis and Tesla both take a similarly timeless, minimal approach to exterior design compared to other manufacturers which is why I love them both. The Tesla Model S in particular looks beautiful, although it doesn't work as well on the SUVs compared with Genesis. My dream garage would probably be a Tesla Model S and a Genesis GV70.

21:30 agree with you, this is a competitive Electric car to a Tesla, definitely powerful and trimmed out premium.
Yes, the believe Genesis GV70 is quite competitive even against Tesla Model Y.
At the same price, one would be mad to buy a model Y over this. At a 10% more, still this is better.
The interior is worth the money over any Tesla. Nobody will miss that 1 sec extra quicker to 100km/h, totally useless. However one needs to sit in the car to drive it and this is a much nicer place

My GV70 3.5 was supposed to arrive in January and now it's delayed into July here in the USA. At this point, Im considering to wait for the GV70 Electrified if the price will be in the $71k range. If this was on the US market, it would be the best EV. Genesis wouldnt be able to build enough of them.

@@AsianPetrolhead if it actually arrives in July, we would be happy but it will honestly be delayed even further and most likely arrive late 2022. I really want the GV70 electrified but I'm assuming there will be additional delivery delay on that model as well. I'm guessing the GV70 electrified will launch in the USA December 2022 and will take 6 months to get orders into dealerships.

The biggest „Issue“ European/German reviewers have is the lack of power and punch. It seems like this EV would be the perfect solution and could make Genesis competitive here in Europe which I would love. Great review as usual :). Stay save Charlie ✌🏽

Honestly not many cars lack power nowadays. Anyone thinking they need better than about 8 seconds to 100km/h is kidding themselves.
My car does it in under 6 seconds.. but honestly, I can rarely use it if I want to keep my license.
@@TsLeng well it is a different car culture in Germany with our Autobahn for instance. Every second road here as a speed limit of 100km/h :)
@@rohanpatel7472 if every second road you drive has a speed limit of 100km/h or an autobahn, that makes you an exception.
Like I said, it's hard to find a car without enough power nowadays. The ones that are low on power are meant to be city runners.
At 100km/h constant, an average car is really only using about 30hp output. The rest of the turbo 150hp will get you there quite briskly too.

Hello again Charlie. I agree with you about the turning signals should be higher up, why aren't they integrated into the main rear lights ?? And I say again, why aren't the grill cross over grids in chrome which would look like the normal GV70.
Night time colour scheme,with cream interior is just beautiful. This is a superb car, just gorgeous, definitely on my list IF they put a bigger ,longer range battery in.

@@AsianPetrolhead This Melbourne Gray matte paint was what I was originally aiming for, until I read about maintenance of it.
If you go through an automatic car wash, even without selecting the extra waxing, you could still end up with wax in the soap that in the long run could cause blemishes in the paint (So hand wash only). If you rub too much when removing bird droppings or tree sap, you can end up with shiny spots in those areas, and the only way to fix this is to get the car repainted. Also, you can't buff scratches away like with normal paint.
Sadly, for these reasons I will have to settle on another color when the orders finally open on Electrified GV70...😒

Interesting how outside of the US market the turn signals are down there but the North American market gets red turn signals up top. Personally, in both cases I would go to a shop to get amber sequential turn signals put in where they belong

I see that now we are about to go into the future with electric vehicles. but is there a reason that the plug in electric charger has to be in the front of the vehicle instead of the side. I see the Hyundais and the kias have it on the side of there vehicles. Plus I'm so familiar with just walking to side and pumping gas in mine.

its actually for shorter cable charger stations on some charging brands some cars have trouble and have to park sideways occupying 2spaces
and s korea have parking space problems in general and front charging port is good for tight charging stations. general reasons are of course this is not dedicated plaform and plug is afterthought on these cars.
@@fornobu Thank you just some Thank you But while here in America we just have the regular move in parking space. so I seen that Tesla has the charging stations where you can back your automobile in and it's closer to plug. Other automobiles have the plug like the Porsches on the front fender where the engine is of the car.
@@arniebea funny you mentioned that porsches dc charging port is on the passenger side which is designed for ‘valet’ charging. front or side charging is for ‘peasent’ charging.

This is fantastic for sure! But I'd rather have the ICE version.
I debated about this too. The real world range for this will be 200 mints before you need to plug in to a charging station on road trips. The ICE version gets 340 miles per tank so for long trips and weekend get away the ICE is still the way to go. It’ll take more than 10000 miles to recoup the price delta.
@@johnlee5307 For me, the range isn't the issue anymore. It's the cost and the inconvenience of charging. In the near future when we can charge our ev's in 5 minutes, then I'll be more on board!

This 71k price would make more sense if Genesis was considered a true luxury brand in the US. Not to mention EV sales in the US are still a small percentage of total sales.
