    I was at this concert. The 1983 US Festival Sunday, May 29. in Devore California. That’s the desert of San Bernardino county. The lineup that day was Quiet Riot, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph, Scorpions and Van Halen closed out the event. I just turned 17 and was about 15 people from the front row. It was hotter than hell that day and the water canon saved our lives. Day one of the festival was new wave day and day three was rock ‘n’ roll. Both those days combined did not draw as much as day two heavy metal day. For this concert the one you’re watching there were 375,000+ metalheads rocking out in the desert sun. Triumph was by far the best band that day. I will say this is the biggest party I have ever been to in my life. Another great reaction.👏👏👏👏 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙

      i remember myself and another of our group attempting to get closer to stage during motley, we got to id say 50 feet away , then the intermission, then ozzy walked took the stage. we were half lifted off our feet by the mob behind us rushing the stage . there was real danger of people being trampled and crushed against the stage. the stage crew and security had to pull people onto the stage to safety. my friend and i were separated, instantly i was within 15 -20 from stage wall and thought HELL NO! dug my feet in turned ,protected my head w my elbows out in front and fists on forehead and angry bulled my way back out. didnt see my friend again till concert was over and we were in the van working our way to the freeway and spotted him running waving his hands in the air, lmao 🤣

    Just Honorably discharged from the Marine Corps stationed at Marine Air Base El Toro, Ca. Triumph was my favorite band back then. I passed this festival on my way home cross county trip to Pennsylvania. I did not know Triumph was performing at this festival while I drove by until forty years later after watching this youtube video. That's wild.

    0:33 "Where is this?" It is the US Festival, 1983 near San Bernardino (east of Los Angeles). I was on my way there, on a motorcycle. Stopped off for gas. Some other bikers rolled in. There was a scuffle and threats. I decided it was safer just to go home after that.

    I saw Triumph in concert in 1983 but not at this concert. I was 17, junior in HS. The early to mid 80’s was the height of great rock! Next time I would listen to one of their studio versions so you can truly get a sense for Ric Emmet’s vocal
    talents. I would try Lay It On The Line

    • @Stogie2112
      @Stogie2112 10 дней назад

      The studio albums also have much more of Emmet's solo guitar work. Multi-track recording allows him to have a strong rhythm guitar, which he doesn't have on stage.

    I grew up listening to Triumph. I think one of the most underrated bands ever. They had some pop hits but the did a lot of songs to long for the radio and not really targeted for radio it seems to me. All those early albums were like an exploration of what could be done with three people. They always sound soooooooo big! My favorite album by them was "Thunder Seven". It was a good mix of pop with still having that exploration of music in it also. I love "Stranger in a Strange Land" off side two. But really the whole album just goes together in a complete piece of work. If I hear one song then all the rest call out to me. I don't know if it will hold that power for more modern listeners as people now buy songs one at a time. But back then money was hard to come by and I bought my music on cassette tape. That kept me from changing songs very much. I would just listen to a whole album all the way thru. So the songs really become attached to each other once you have been thru an album a few times. That is something I don't think you get now unless you create your own playlists maybe.

    Triumph was an 80's Canadian band that was very successful thanks to their on-stage fireworks and light shows. Rik Emmett was a strong vocalist and guitar player. Very talented. They had several hit songs, but critics gave them mixed reviews. They were often called a cheap copy of Rush, which was also a Canadian band - and far more successful.
    I saw them in concert 40 years ago. The stage show was great, but to be honest, the opening act - Molly Hatchet - was a better band that night.

      @@2727rogers No, I have been paying CDN payroll taxes in my business as long as this song has been. No idea how avoiding taxes by having employees that can multitask makes me American. I guess I should have said they needed 27 union govt employees as back up to qualify for my maple syrup benefits.

      Triumph is better than Rush, April Wine, Trooper, Loverboy, Max Webster, Prism, Streetheart, etc are also better than Rush. Rush is talented (amazing drummer), but hugely overrated and self-indulgent. But I've only been listening to Canadian bands for over 50 years...

    Great band should be in HOF! Never got the recognition they deserved. Rik Emmett may be the best or at least one of the best lead guitarist/lead vocalist combo ever in rock! He does an amazing guitar solo in this concert. Drummer has an amazing voice as well and sings lead in some songs.

      This was the US Fest in 1983 created by Steve Wozniak (the guy who actually created Apple). It was in California, if the hairstyles didn't give that away. And 3 wee lads from Canada blew everyone away.

    The concerts in those days were really huge parties with your favorite band playing live. All of my favorite memories were at concerts. That's why I don't go anymore. That energy no longer exists. We didn't have cell phones or social media. We all got together at shows and just had fun with each other,no worries. Shared beers ( among other things) and just had fun. Period. I sure miss those days before people like TicketMaster came along and monopolized the whole concert going experience. Sorry,kid. You missed it. But you certainly would've fit right in.
