    If you want to hear something different from RUSH and Geddy's voice, then watch "The Garden" from their Clockwork Angels tour. I literally cry each time I hear it, because it was near the end of them touring, and it was Neil's way of saying "Goodbye". The foreshadowing of what was to come years later is chilling.

      That is prolly one of my top 3 Rush performances....I love Geddys voice from every era but The Garden being the last song on their last album and the meaning behind the song it's hard not to be emotional everytime you watch it❤️🇨🇦🎸

      There is another Rush song is also very emotional. Song is Red Sector A. Red Sector A is very personal to Geddy Lee because Neil wrote about liberation of Nazi Concentration Camp near Bergen-Belsen. One of the survivors was Geddy Lee's mother, Manya (Mary). His father was held in another concentration near Dachau. Geddy Lee stated his mother has very thick accent. She calls him, "Geddy" as his birth's is Gary Lee.
      I think this song is a tribute to his parents and other survivors.

    Yeah, cause we'd all be so disappointed to see it again and again! hahahaha - you're so funny! Took an ex-girlfriend to a concert and she was an instant fan, watching their documentaries and calling me when she found them. They were special in person, but there was never such a thing as too many times seeing them. Wish I could have seen them more. I've been bugging you for Xanadu. Bring a seat belt. Make sure it's "Exit Stage Left" performance, because it's simply perfection. In the top two all-time live musical performances w-Ghost Love Score at Wacken. I want a front row seat to that reaction, please reserve it for me.

I've seen them 7 times, but I think my favourite was my last time, on the Time Machine Tour in 2011, because I was able to take my daughter who was 22 at the time. She was blown away by them & the show they put on. If you're doing Xanadu next, you're in for a treat. Pick the 1981 Exit Stage Left live version.

    Redheadedneighbor. Geddys voice became deeper because he couldn't sing the high notes anymore. He didn't sing incorrectly, or abuse his voice, in his younger years. He just "over used" it. Singing in his style, always at a high pitch, finally caught up to him. And of course age changes everything! He's like Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden: he had a great "belt" in his early years, but singing the high notes (which is his signature sound), is not the same now. But these guys are and will always be my heroes. When the news broke here in Canada (and it WAS breaking news), that Neil passed in January of 2020 (just before the pandemic hit us all), I cried... absolutely balled my eyes out for hours! And was very depressed for days and weeks after his death. Rush had come to an end, and would never be again. R.I.P. brother Neil. Anyway, love your reactions. I can tell you really "get" Rush, which is amazing since so many don't get them...at all. Cheers from 🇨🇦.

    • @JonDickinson-dq9oj
      @JonDickinson-dq9oj 16 дней назад +2

      Very true. Unfortunately Geddy over used his voice in his younger years. Plus he got older, which sucks. They were the best of the best. Didn't get "love" until later years. Were not on mainstream radio, but made it big (or should I say HUGE)! All the best from the home of Rush 🇨🇦.

It is a compilation video, all mashed together, of the many different videos of Rush playing that song, from 1977, to 1984, to 1988, and in 1996. It's a really fun compilation and the recording is from the Test for Echo tour and that version is really wild! Check out this: ruclips.net/video/MeCczUfCcsU/видео.html

    The "Live from Birmingham UK -'88" version of this has Geddy playing a bit more at the end and Alex being just as goofy as always. keep up the great work.

    The first time I heard Rush was Tom Sawyer in fifth grade and I thought it was the best thing I ever heard. Then over the years I bought all of their albums and they are without a doubt my favorite band. At 25 I played in a Rush tribute band called Counterparts.

    Hey RHN!! You had mentioned about how you had wished you could have seen them live. I’ve been to 3 concerts. My first time the played Tom Sawyer as the opener. I instantly started sobbing. Mr. Peart was/is my hero. And I was so moved. I equate it to my pilgrimage to Mecca. I had been wanting this for so many years my emotions took over. I’m not saying other music can’t move you in that same way. But the buildup of years of worship turned me into a blubbering mess.
    Miss you professor!!

    It has always amazed me how Geddy could play those funky bass lines while singing.

    Closer to the heart was a very worn out song, they actually got tired of it. But when they went to Rio they found out it was very popular in Brazil. So they kept playing it with a few changes after Rio. The last four live shows had different vibe for the intro. To this song.

    Think about it when they put out 2112 the studio told him to make a bunch of radio songs and they said screw it but they thought it was going to bomb and it would be the down the drains to her and they would all go back to what they did before they played music. It's funny because 2112 is when I discovered Russ when I was 13 years old... and then seen them so many times since. I even took my 10-year-old daughter with my wife to see them in 2015 and Nationwide Arena in Columbus Ohio for the last time.

    Geddy & Alex have been best friends since meeting in Middle School in a Suburb of Toronto 1967. Alex is the one that started the Band Rush. The original drummer John Rutsey's Brother named the Band RUSH. They had a bass player that quit after a few weeks. Alex asked Geddy to join the band in September 1968 to be the bass player and singer. You would Love the acoustic Live version of song Resist. I cried the first time I saw Geddy & Alex sitting down and playing this beautiful song. Geddy on a 6-string guitar and Alex on a 12-string guitar. (Magical)I saw Rush 5 times.
