They really did go all out for the Kongs. I hope the likes of Dixie and Diddy can get some roles beyond standing in the background, even if it's just a line or two, just to acknowledge that "Yep, it's them, they're REAL" And just... Holy cow, all the other Kongs too. Really do hope this means SOMETHING for Kong Watch, you can't just go this deep for a blockbuster movie and theme park and NOT have something game wise in the pipeline or just be a one and done.
The fact the official big budget hollywood animated movie uses SWANKY KONG out of all characters bodes really well or the future of the games. Also the jets on the kong karts are the returns rocket barrels.

Honestly, I love the idea of modernizing the arcade DK design and mixing it with modern DM for the movie. As a whole this movie looks like it could seriously slap.
I mean, look at the first Despicable Me movie for proof of that. It had heart, the Minions were only gag side characters, and the plot actually gripped you. It was only after the Minions were proven to be massively commercially successful that they went sour. .
Not only are the Kongs back but they’re going to be featured in a big budget Hollywood animated movie and that is unbelievably mind blowing, genuinely happy! Now bring in the Kremlings and we’re golden!

Seeing you happy actually makes me happy, I’ve been aware that Nintendo hasn’t been that supportive towards Donkey Kong for the past years and I understand the sadness and frustration from the fans. I have a soft spot for Donkey Kong since seeing my brother play the games and watching the CGI series when I was a kid, so seeing DK and the crew get some much love in this movie brings me joy. Let’s hope that this will lead to him getting more respect and potential games in the future.

There's small details that do feel a little off but that's been the case for most of the character designs but ohh this is beautiful,,,
I have to be honest, back in 2014, I was one of those people who said that Tropical Freeze “should’ve been Metroid”. I was an angsty teen at the time, and I could not appreciate the cartoon aesthetic of the DK universe. It wasn’t until last year, when I played a DKC game for the first time (surprise, it was Tropical Freeze), that I can finally call myself a DK fan. I love this character now, and I’m glad DK is getting love in this movie.
I definitely think the main kongs that show up in the movie are gonna show up in future games. Im less sure about stuff like the kong drones, movie dk lore and the outfit cranky has, but im open to it not being movie exclusive. The designs are great for the movie, though i too prefer they keep the rare designs for the games. In general im just really hyped for this movie, it just looks great visually and clearly has tons of effort put into it. I think it'll be great! I do hope we get clearer shots of the other kongs besides dk and cranky though.

I was freaking hyped when I saw them too. I was like “Aaaaaaahhhh” and just so excited. MAN, this movie is turning out great! I want the devs to polish this as much as possible so it delivers and slam dunks.
I hope in my heart of hearts that we'll get to see an open-world DK island at some point. Like, DK64 without the compartmentalized level structure, with a fleshed out Kong moveset to traverse the land.
I'm not watching more Mario trailers, but I couldn't resist more UA+ content. Honestly, I do feel like this is the Mario movie of our childhood dreams in many aspects.

It does look like Cranky is going to be the ruler of this kong civilization, it makes sense since he's the original arcade Donkey Kong after all. I'm pretty surprised that the movie is referencing some of the older characters to like DK Jr but, hey if the movie does amazing hopefully a Donkey Kong Country Movie or a Mario Bros 2 sequel with DK as a co protagonist could be a potential discussion between Nintendo and Illumination I'd like to see how King K Rool would fit in this new world of Mario.
Picture this, 1981, NYC, downtown Manhattan at the Delancey Street Pizza and Deli at New Roma Pizza. Thats where I first saw Donkey Kong arcade game and it was a blast! This this day when ever I smell any fresh cooked pizza I always think of DK:3 TO this day I still have every DK games from Colecovision, Intellivision, Atari 2600 and even on NES and Famicom and so on.

I highly doubt they're gonna bring the designs to the games. I think of this movie as an interpretation of the source material rather than a direct adaptation. Think "this is how Mario looks and acts in the games" vs "this is how Mario's gonna look and act in the movie".

Swanky has been my favorite kong since middle school. I'm 19 now and finally seeing my main monkey in a film what a time to be alive.

Off-Topic: I loved the tiny part with Mario Pratt actuallly platforming. Gave me Lego Movie vibes, funnily enough.
