I've been playing through Wario Land: Shake It and it's great. The only thing I can see in it that some people don't like is when you fail a mission you want to complete in a level and end up wanting to restart multiple times to get it. Other than that, Wario feels powerful to control, the difficulty makes levels feel satisfying and anime Wario looks amazing. Only reason I think Nintendo stopped the series afterwards is that it took too much effort to make the graphics for the game, so they made it a little shorter which people didn't like.

They're definitely up to something. The lingering question is what exactly, and when will we finally catch wind of it? From his upcoming appearance in the Super Mario Bros. film to the expansion of the theme park at Universal Park, along with King K. Rool's inclusion in Super Smash Bros. Crash 4 and Psychonauts 2 are both excellent games, and I think the only reason reception of them was lukewarm is because there are almost too many other options in the gaming landscape. To think the mario franchise technically started out as a Donkey Kong spin off, to now having DK not going anywhere without Mario in some form is truely sad.
If they use DK to demonstrate the fidelaty of a new system, it better still be a good game. Returns and Tropical Freeze are so good as games not graphics and I know they can keep the streak going in regards to gameplay and beautiful worlds. Hope they keep the New/Funky mode for new players and retain Original mode for people like me who love a good challenging DK.
I think it's a consequence of their attitude that seems to be only Retro can make DK games right, everything in the theme park is branded around those games after all, mostly. I hope we'll get that DidYouKnowGaming video one day that finally reveals this 5 year long mystery of nothing happening with one of Nintendo's best studios. Of course it's the one that handles DK and Metroid of all IPs...
For years I've been hoping to see a new Donkey Kong at every E3 (Rip) or every Nintendo Direct, but unfortunately that was in vain. However, I believe that this will change soon. If you look back over the past few years, you can see that Nintendo hasn't forgotten Donkey Kong. Examples 2014-2023: Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze for Wii U in 2014 and for Nintendo Switch in 2018 Mario + Rabbids Donkey Kong DLC Lots of Kong references in Super Mario Odyssey King K. Rool for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Donkey Kong Country 1-3 for NSO Lego Donkey Kong figure Playable Kongs in Mario Kart Tour Presence of many Kongs in the Mario film A Donkey Kong area is being built at the Nintendo theme park You can see that Nintendo cares about the Donkey Kong franchise. There may even be a Donkey Kong film planned for the future and I think more games can also be expected. It's only a matter of time.
Really thankful to see more people like yourself having hope for DK yet 🙏 The sheer amount of things they're doing for DK while still being under Mario's tight iron grip is astounding, certainly the most amount of things we've seen pop up for him in the past decade since Tropical Freeze, I don't think all this build-up is for nothing, one way or the other.. Donkey Kong WILL receive rightful justice~ 😤
The fact that they made a remake last time. Identifies that they are working on something big for Donkey Kong. But it's not, coming, out, within 1 year's time.
If the recent rumors of the Switch successor are anything to say I don’t think the next big DK game is going to be on the Switch and is being saved for the Switch’s successor. If we do get anything DK related on the Switch now it will probably be something small like an HD port of Returns or DK64 coming to NSO. That’s all fine and all but my biggest concern right now is the fate of the Kremlings, King K. Rool getting into Smash and the response to his grand return was huge which makes his inclusion in future DK titles pretty much guaranteed but it’s been so long since we’ve seen him in anything else that it makes me feel that Nintendo already forgot about him and the rest of the Kremlings all over again.
There are two terrible routes for Nintendo IPs: - Being mostly neglected (F-Zero, Star Fox) - Being milked until it becomes mostly sterile and soulless (Mario Kart, Pokemon) Thankfully, DK is neither in these categories... thought he's still getting the short end of the stick.
Maybe they'll pull a Bayonetta 1+2 thing. like when 2 came out in Japan, there was an exclusive Climax edition that had both games as physical. but then when 3 came out, they made physical carts of 1. assuming they'd possibly release Returns Deluxe as a Switch dualpack with Tropical Freeze. except one of the games is a digital code. Returns Deluxe would be optionally Switch 2-enhanced when played on that console. Nintendo fans will freak out at the idea that Switch 2's cart slot has a notch. maybe with the intention of preventing people from plopping them in a regular switch. dual-console enhanced games won't be too bad...however it'd probably impact Pokemon *HARD* at its current formula; you just know they'd be skeptical about the enhancement if there's any form of ad-hoc multiplayer (barring battles) where running 2 SKUs probably would mess things up.
As much as I would love for Mario to step down, step aside and take a seat for a year or two to give DK the spotlight for a bit, I just know that will never happen. Nintendo, and by extension its fanbase is addicted to Mario, there would be too much violent withdrawal from the Nintendo Community if Mario took a break.... Still, it would be nice for DK to be a Star again, and not just another lickspittle in Mario's entourage.
Honestly, I do think we’re getting a donkey Kong game soon just with the amount of representation we’re getting for the series it just wouldn’t make sense if they didn’t do that I’m sorry you donkey Kong fans had to go through this pretty shirt and towels trying to build up pipe for this. I hope you all have an amazing year and God bless you all.
If I had to guess they might be waiting for the next console, They might have ran in to technical limitations with the one unreleased title might have just been under too much constraint from the Switch to handle and without a second console to back them up (like with the home console and mobile console market until this point where they've outright merged it) they probably have that game on the shelves for something a bit beefier while also trying to save on production cost. I could be wrong as I'm just basing it off the leaked gameplay vs what the switch line as a whole can do but it wouldn't surprise me if a DK game comes as a launch title for this next system.
DK has sadly never had a chance to be a huge thing in my life growing up, but I'm still rooting for DK fans to have their win! Something about DK fans passion for the series makes me weirdly invested regardless
Maybe I'm coping too but, I think DK is about to have a big comeback.

Mario Kart got just one entry on every system...I wouldn't call that "milking" exactly. oO Pokemon however, yeah
Mariokart didn‘t have a bad entry yet. Or are you talking about the Booster courses? Those were lackluster but also cheap, so I can’t really complain
@@geschnitztekiste4111 Yes I'm talking about the asset flip DLC, as well as tour. (it did get better, but it's still a mid mobile game)
@@yoshisreal Yeah ok that’s fair. That kinda robbed us of an actually good new Mariokart, huh
Unky. Chunky. We love you but calm down. Godzilla went over a decade without new movies before the monster verse. Maybe something good will happen?
God tier intro
Just know this’s be a good one
Atleast Donkey Kong GBC is getting some love. Mario's movement in that game was at its best till the DS!
And then there's DK!
He's Dead.
HUHHH!!!!!
Are people forgetting about the ice climbers
the intro was amazing 🤍
Take my subscribe. DONKEY KONG FOREVER BABY
It sucks how long games take to make now
its prob the same reason why we don't have wario land 5 on the switch
I literally thought it's been only 5 years tops since Tropical Freeze
I hope I can make you happy by informing you I’m playing Donkey Kong Country Returns on my Nintendo 2DS :).
dude , that intro got me laughing out loud
What if they put Donkey Kong in a New Super Mario Bros Game like they did with Wario in 64 DS and Daisy in Wonder ?
I DESPERATELY NEED A NEW PUNCH OUT
DK has sadly never had a chance to be a huge thing in my life growing up, but I'm still rooting for DK fans to have their win! Something about DK fans passion for the series makes me weirdly invested regardless
