Glad to see you again Al. I agree, although the new Kirby looks to be a really good game I personally hope that Nintendo doesn't overprice us playing a $60 game that we can complete under 2 hours. I played many games in the early 2000's like Super Mario Sunshine and the Sly Cooper series. Both games were extremally replayable and took at least 15 hours to complete without going for the 100% completion. These games were $25-30. With $60 dollars I can buy these two great games and have over 30 hours of total playtime, while nowadays I pay the same $60 for a game I completed under 2 hours and then never again. I didn't feel like you were ruining my hype for the new Kirby game, for everyone's opinion is valid. Whether I agree with you or not, I still enjoy watching your vids because your make discussions both fun and professionalized. You make statements that even someone who doesn't agree with you, can agree with such as the pricing. Let's just hope that the new Kirby will be priced correctly, even if it's a short game at least don't make it $60. Overall great discussion! Let's game more cautiously my bois
At first I was also skeptical about how much content the game will have, but when considering all the factors I'm actually pretty optimistic. First off, the updates for Star Allies finished in November of 2018, meaning that Hal Labs has presumably been working on this game for over 3 years, which is longer then the usual 2 years that we get between Kirby games. Secondly, the Kirby dev team has expanded since Star Allies, they hired some new people. And the file size is apparently larger then Super Mario Odyssey, idk if that really matters but I'm hopeful that this game will be a success. Even if it doesn't live up to expectations, it's at least something new and ambitious, something that Kirby's needed for decades.
Yeah, Kirby's team...is very tiny compared to most of Nintendo plus PR and SA were rushed which didn't help much Thought seems like this game has more time, money and bigger staff working on it which makes me hype
@@rubyrogers8879 I don't really know what you're talking about with Planet Robobot considering it's one of the most polished looking games on the 3ds. But yeah, Star Allies could've used a bit more time in the oven imo. I have faith the Kirby dev team will deliver on the KatFL considering how long its been in the works and the quality HAL is known for.
I TOTALLY agree with that Warioware example. Like, I got the game for christmas and love it, but the campaign is *laughably* short. It's still good and all, but I managed to beat it in 3 hours. At least I like replaying the levels to get high scores though!
@@magicjohnson3121 Man I *hate* those achievements, they are kinda BS. The campaign length is really my only gripe with the game, I spend most of my time after that getting high scores and buying prezzies for the characters.
@@geschnitztekiste4111 i remember one guy i watched being dissappointed, that Get it Together wasn't as long as Gold. (Then again, Gold is a compilation of older microgames, over 300 to be precise. This is different from the other games, which to my knowledge usually feature around 200 brandnew microgames.) Also, some people might not be familiar with the WarioWare series and don't know how short those game actually are.
I'm a huge fan of Metroid and Metroid Dread has become one of my all time favourite games. But I will absolutely agree with you that it's too short for a $60 game. I live in the UK and it only costs £50 instead of the usual £60, that's obviously still more than $60 when you compare the currencies but it is still a little more lenient for our standards. I think the game should've been £40 instead, it's packed with a metric ton of detail as well as sequence breaks that give the game more replay value, it would definitely be worth £40 in my opinion. Glad to see you're back Al. I'm also pretty sceptical of a lot of Nintendo's modern output, ever since the switch launched in fact. I'm not exactly the most optimistic when it comes to corporations and Nintendo specifically has not been good lately. The switch had a fantastic launch but I don't think it's quite living up to its full potential, and it isn't like Nintendo doesn't have the money for it, so I don't exactly see why so many people are so forgiving of their faults.
I understand what you and Al are saying but there is such a thing as games being unnecessarily long. Not every game has to be a 20 or 50 hour experience, imo Dread is a game that has replay value in 100% the game, how fast you can beat the game, trying different difficulty modes and etc. Super Metorid is actually a similar length to Dread and it follows the same principle in design
@@puffnstuff7905 I never said I wanted Dread to be a 20 or 50 hour long experience, if we're gonna stay at the £60 mark then I think 12-15 hours would be just fine. Metroidvanias are usually not that long but that's fine since most of them are below £20 on steam. Plus look at it from the angle of the average consumer. They might not have a lot of money so a £60 game could be a big investment; they're gonna be pretty disappointed when they find out the game isn't that long.
It feels like nintendo is finally stepping out of their "prove to the world we can do the bare minimum" phase they adopted back in 2017. They are running thin on staple franchises that appear on every console and are forced to get creative for the first time in years. Then again, this mirrors the trend of every console since the Wii of getting more inventive in the latter half of a console's life, only to immediately reign themselves back in when the next comes out. It seems like they are trying to break that habit with their press releases of going all in with their current infrastructure and continuing into future generations, but only time will tell on that one.
I have to disagree about Wii U being "lazy" and not inventive enough. If anything Wii U was too inventive, so inventive it actually a pain for 3rd party developers to port games to it. And so inventive, they can't even explain it to their customers, for about 2 years I honestly thought Wii U is a new Wii peripheral.
What do you mean, adopted in 2017? They were making banger after banger that year. If BOTW is the bare minimum, then almost every other game is below standard
I hope this game is good, seeing something truly different for one of nintendo’s franchises since like, breath of the wild gives me some hope. I want this to be the game where we start seeing an upward trend in nintendo’s innovation but I don’t feel too confident about that. This year’s lineup is basically direct sequels to nintendo games that have already worked so idk. The idea of them letting teams get genuinely creative has kind of been dead since they said they wouldn’t let paper mario games make too many new characters, but I can hope they let someone who cares make something cool sooner rather than later.
I think Forgotten Land looks great personally. It's just so freaking cool to see Kirby finally get his big 3D adventure. But I agree with Al when he mentioned game length. I'm paying 60 buckaroonies for this, I wanna spend a good amount of time in this adventure
Having experienced most of the Kirby franchise and I think all of the main line Kirby games, I do have a few things to say about the last 4 Kirby games. Return to dream land was a great step up for Kirby in my opinion, despite being 4 players, I don't think it was designed for 4 players, it was just a bonus, plus some extra chaos for the ride, I completed the game 100% EX and True arena included 5 times already, fantastic music. Triple deluxe is what I would say is another step up for Kirby, more creative boss fights, new attack patterns using the foreground and back ground together, more creative level design, despite being single player. Not to mention the story happening in the background which doesn't affect the gameplay, it's simply there if you want to see it and I adore that, fantastic music btw. Robobot I think is the perfection of the 2d Kirby formula, they went all out for Robobot, increadibly creative bosses, (clanky woods is an awesome first boss), an amazing final boss plus extremely difficult post game, yet again fantastic sound track, this is also the game where they finally tested the waters of 3d Kirby for the second time in years. Eventually even getting it's own little side game, so I knew a 3d Kirby was coming. Star allies is I think, a goodbye to 2d Kirby for now, despite it's flaws it was enjoyable especially with others by your side, however, if I am correct, this was Hal's first attempt at a multiplayer focused game, and it didn't turn out as great as the past games, so much so that I think it's by far the weakest game mainline game of the franchise for the time it was released. To me, Kirby shouldn't be designed around multiplayer, it can have multiplayer that make certain parts of the game easier sure, but having it designed around a single person is probably where it can truly shine, not even the mighty super star/ultra are designed around multiplayer, despite having the power to have a second player, you can clear most if not all of the game 100% without a helper by your side. Star allies may not have been the ultimate 2d Kirby, but it was still HAL's goodbye to 2d Kirby so that, at least for now, they can move on to something bigger and better. I think forgotten land will be amazing, however it is very fine to be skeptical after stat allies, but having played all main line Kirby games to completion, some multiple times, I have a feeling that HAL ain't going to disappoint, especially since they have been testing the waters of 3d for a few years now. I think they are ready for this. Edit:Also Whispy woods is an iconic first boss so of course some variation of him would exist in forgotten land, is a stable of the series at this point Edit2:If they mess it up then it's a shame I was wrong from Hal.
The game seems to have a lot of content so far. It's got 46 waddle dees to collect and find in the first world, not even including all the side content and stuff.
I will probably pick up Kirby and the Forgotten Land when it releases, it looks really good. Now as for Pokemon Legends Arceus, although I am optimistic, I have a lot of doubts on the new Pokemon game. Honestly would like to hear your thoughts on it when it releases on the 28th.
I 100% on the price tag relating to game length. Beforehand you could pay Nintendo about 50$ and at minimum you get a solid 10 hour game no matter which series you play. But nowadays it just leads to more and more shorter games while keeping the whole 60$ tag. A game can look and play nice, but if I complete the game in under 6 hours I feel kinda ripped off. For this upcoming Kirby game I hope they take the Mario odyssey route and make it a long and fun playthrough with many nooks and crannies to explore.
Personally I really hope this game has a stronger pull than just "Kirby in a 3D space." I mean that's cool and all but like, you're almost 30 years late to the party bucko. You know what I'm saying? It's neat to see Kirby in a 3D space but I don't want it to be the ONLY hook this game has.
It does at least have more interesting locations so hopefully yeah ...alsomyinnernerdwantstosaymost3Dgamesdidntstartpoppinguptillthelate90sandKirbyisonlyayearyoungerthanSonic but SSSSHHHH inner nerd Ruby I suppose after Sakirai left to 2011, they didn't really have a clear sense of direction (maybe earlier if you count SSU)
Well at least we know that there will be a hub area of sorts, which hasn't happened traditionally in the Kirby franchise before. Again, this isn't anything revolutionary, but I do think if they are making more of these design changes in Forgotten Land it will provide a unique experience. A fulfilling one, however, will forever be left up for debate, I'm sure. Even months or years after the game releases.
I will admit and agree with you, Al, that despite Nintendo being a great console and game maker, we have a really shitty oversensitive community that only adds gas to the tire fire that is Twitter. But at least, thank god, Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks fantastic. I am very much looking forward to this game.
So like Al you went to the grocery store for just coupons and lottery tickets, and nothing else? Like fucking do you just consume lottery tickets and coupons for sustenance? If that's the case are they any good?
Nintendo is not a small indie warehouse like Re-Logic, the makers of Terraria. This a multi billion dollar company. It really disappoints me that they are just chasing dollar signs with a bakery with undercooked cookies, just like Rockstar when they came up with the GTA trilogy.
Its kind of ironic that the fanbase of a videogame company known for more fun family appropriate games has one of the most toxic videogame fanbases out there. Also happy to see you back on this channel again! Personally me, these are my probably my favorite types of videos by you. Idk i just kinda like listening you talk about random topics lol.
I honestly think that you are safer on youtube than on Twitter. Like there is a reason more and more people are just abandoning that site. It's just people's arguments about the littlest shit and trolling.
I've just gotten this game today and I gotta say as someone who's never played a Kirby game outside of Epic Yarn Deluxe It's really fun Lots of little side missions and hidden waddle dees in each level and they're all a fairly good length each with a good bit of variety between them with the things Kirby can S U C C and use. It doesn't seem to be terribly short as I've played it for a good 6-7 hours and I've completed about 20% of the game according to the title screen. All in all, I just think it's a fun time and a good game to relax to and so far it's worth the price of admission
Tbh i am wishing for a kirby rpg But i dont think it will make sense But considering hal laboratory is the same company that made the mother series it could work
Good to see a new vid from you. Kirbys 3D game personally has me looking forward to it but not hyped, but to be fair I haven't felt genuine excitement for a game launch since Doom Eternal. The world around us sucks too much for me to reach the levels of hype Ive had for games a few years ago but I still get a kick out of being a salty bitch, so I hope I get to see an entertaining video from you celebrating 8 years since Tropical Freeze (and also 8 years of no new DK games) next month
I feel similarly towards Kirby, I think it'll be neat, but I don't really expect it to blow me away or anything. I don't really get hyped about games the way I used to either, nothing really hits the mark for me anymore... Well, I am very excited for Elden Ring, but this is the first i've been excited for a game in a hot minute lol. And don't worry, I'm way ahead of you on that DK part :P
Good vid but I disagree kinda/ I think the main campaign should be short. Kirby is aimed at kids, after all, and are usually pretty short. Plus, it means they can try and not stretch out the concept because I think if it was longer, then it would be monotous. However, like other kirby games like return to dreamland give the player a BUNCH of stuff to do post game, and reward those who don't want to just beat the game so they have something to do. The minigame in the clip has me excited.
Warioware's hook is literally going for highscores. And the game itself is so ridiculously polished. I would've gladly paid $60 for it. If it was on the 3ds it would've been $40 (but also less polished and with lower incentive to play multiplayer) I dunno, Uncy Munky. I feel like you slip on your own banana peels too often comparing apples to oranges.
@@UncleAlPlus I guess. I will say I think it’s ridiculous that switch games never go on sale and we still haven't gotten Player's Choice style price reductions. But for the most part, I feel like niche experiences like WarioWare and Pokemon Snap get unfairly shirked in the price conversation. As if the amount of work that went into them shouldn't be reflected in the price because "game short" or "not zelda"
@@ATalkingSock I'm hoping there's still a chance for Nintendo Selects. Usually they tend to appear around 4 years into the console's lifespan. It's been almost 5 now so it's possible we might see them soon. Seems kinda unlikely right now but I'm gonna keep hoping.
1:40 that’s why I got rid of Twitter, got tired of being called a bigot for wanting Nintendo to make actual games instead of (NEW!) new super mario bros U switch edition As for Kirby, I think it looks great and I’m excited to see how it turns out
I feel like Metroid Dread was supposed to not be long, as hardcore Metroid fans really love to speed run Metroid games, and Metroid Dread was the first Metroid in years so I think they wanted to tailor it to bigger fans and new ones but especially bigger fans. It’s also very very replayable, I have 60 hours on the game
The wario ware complaintnis dumb because it’s the same as super smash bros, you can knock the main story out in a couple hours and then your done, you can go for high scores in side modes or 100% but the main “thing” is only some hours long, because it’s a party game. It’s supposed to be beaten quickly so you can play what you want when you want, I do agree with the Metroid and Kirby star allies complaints though
Ehh yea but Smash is a fighting game, the outcomes of each match are ever changing and there's a lot of strategy and development involved. Something like WarioWare, there's not really much to the microgames. It gets very repetitive very quickly when you're doing the same games over and over. But, to each their own, that's just how I felt about the game personally.
Length is definitely going to be a main factor for me. I've been getting into PC games recently and my Switch has only been touched for new releases that I didn't touch after I beat the main content (WarioWare, Dread). I was going to pick it up day 1, but now I'm not so sure. I'm hoping Kirby will be a good game, but we've been burned too much in the past for me to be fully optimistic about it. Good video, hope to see you come back with the milk for Legends Arceus because that's a game that needs some real analysis before we know it's good.
Great to see ya again Al! Honestly your vids help to keep me grounded in terms of where Nintendo's at right now; resting on their laurels, save for the big Zeldas, Marios and other "big" titles. They'll change their tune regarding how they treat their customers as soon as there's a big flop ala Wii U. Even as a Kirby fan, I'm not expecting the world from this game. If I have a fun time with it, I'll be happy.
My biggest worry about _Forgotten Land_ is it will be another _Super Mario Odyssey_ . I feel more and more like Nintendo is designing their games around banking on long-time fans' nostalgia rather than continuing to innovate or create fun games with decent length anymore.
I really don't blame you for not uploading, it still peeves me off whenever people are just fine digesting literally anything Nintendo puts out because to me it just feels like a justified excuse for Nintendo to keep being lazy or rush development
Personally I prefer judging a game by its quality rather than its length. Doom Eternal comes to my mind, a 10 hour game that I feel is well worth $60. But I definitely understand wanting a longer game.
This game looks like it may have a hefty amount of content, (possibly). There appears to be a bunch of side areas in each world which most likely lead to challenge levels. This will certainly add length to each world. Add that with the coins you have to collect to get all the figurines and this will hopefully be at least a 10 hour story mode without the side stuff. At the end of the day tho at least lives are gone, glad they took that step forward.
Uncle Al, Great to hear from ya again! If you're looking for feedback, I'd suggest making this a general discussion channel based on your interests. That way you could expand to talking about cartoons/movies/etc, and both channels could compliment each other.
going off topic, i have never been so glad to have left twitter after looking at the endgame final fight going on about nintendo kart and mario kart 9. i swear the community never used to be this bad..
I truly am happy about your thoughts on this upcoming game. It makes me feel a lot less anxious and worried about how well this game will be. Plus, the funny bits you put into the video made me chuckle. I hope that Kirby and the Forgotten Land will be a great first step into the "new age" of Kirby. Or at least something like that. Not sure how to really put it.
A step in the right direction is always good in my book, I just hope we get more stuff like this with other franchises. Perhaps a game like Star Fox Assault.
Glad you're recovering from covid Also this feels like a sequel or in the same timeline as Kirby 64 like with shiver star Also that was really good point with Kirby new direction stuff, like with the HAL labs Community feedback interview
I've never felt too let down by Kirby games that often, only a few come to mind, but most of the time, they tend to be well worth the price. Then again I'm a Kirby fanboy, so I dunno.
@@UncleAlPlus glad to hear it. Second to last season is my favorite. Larry spends the whole season setting up a coffee shop out of sheer spite to run the jerk next door out of business.
Nintendo's been going down the shitter in terms of business is thanks to them having a banker in charge of the company nowadays instead of a visionary like Iwata; if he were still alive, the Switch would have much better experiences than what we have now
The entire point around WarioWare is that you're supposed to master all of the microgames so you can get highscores and do all the achievements, and all that other stuff. The story is fun but it's just how you experience the microgames. After you beat the game, it even tells you "The story is over, but the game is just beginning". I felt like the bonus modes were a little lacking in comparison to other games, like Gold's for example. And I think that's because of the gameplay focus on switching characters. I only got about like 12 hours worth of the game before I just kinda stopped playing? I definitely agree that it should've been priced lower. 40 would've been reasonable imo. Hope the future WarioWare games continue to be less than $60, and that the side content is better than Get it Together's. As for Metroid, at first I was a little worried about the length, but after starting story mode I quickly realized that this is a game I will be replaying a lot. I've already put like 20 hours into the game and I'll likely put a lot more. For anyone who is just doing the story, $60 might be a bit steep. But anyone who finds replay value in it will definitely get their money's worth. I think WarioWare and Miitopia are good omens at least. With Nintendo has been pricing things recently, I would've definitely expected those both to be $60. Heck, they made Tropical Freeze $60, when it was originally $50, and is currently only $20 on Wii U. So I hope they continue experimenting with price. Kirby & The Forgotten Land definitely looks like it would be more worth $50, but I know they are gonna do $60 so I'm just accepting that now.
I am excited for Forgotten Land, it's a fully 3D mainline Kirby game! Playing all the other entries they've put out in recent years, it's been clear to see how they've been experimenting with how Kirby operates in a 3D space. I can't wait to see how it turns out, and I definitely can't wait to see what other games come after this one. It doesn't look as ambitious as something like Breath of the Wild, but Zelda has been experimenting with 3D gameplay and large worlds for over 20 years and was probably relatively easy to move to that sort of gameplay to begin with. Kirby is trickier because he has free flight, which causes problems in open level design. But then his flight is also very slow and not very offensive either without the right ability, so that means it's hard to do fun level design with his flight in mind as well I'm sure. In my mind, 3D Kirby with open level design sounds pretty difficult to get quite right!
Looking at the trailers I think there’s going to be more worlds than Star allies, so it’ll at least be longer than that. My best guess is 6 or 7 worlds
not sure if you’ll see this, but whether it’s nintendo or not i appreciate this channel just to hear your thoughts on things and whatnot. i love your main channel, but that isn’t much of a discussion platform, ya know?
Glad you're recovering Al, great to have ya back! Ngl from the recent trailer I'm getting "the beginning of Nier automata" vibes, as bizarre as that sounds
First, never talk about anything on Twitter. Today I saw someone hijacking the replies to a meme to declare anybody who sometimes slips up on or doesn't intuit your pronouns needs to be cancelled and ruined forever. Then another person replied to argue that people should be given the benefit of the doubt for situations like that and then another person came to side with the first person and they just kept arguing about it with the first side getting stupider and stupider. People on Twitter are literally crazy; you can't have a discussion about anything or reason with anyone. Anyway though. I'm hesitant to say anything about estimated playtime, because anymore when that's a goal they just add filler content or grinding. They're going to give you very little content and if you want the hours to completion bumped up you get difficulty spikes or recycled content. I was much happier with Metroid Dread being short and sweet than having to repeat the first half of 3 Houses 3-4 times with virtually no changes to see all the routes. 3 Houses may take about 200-300 hours to see all endings, but 75% of that time is 4/10 gameplay.
I've been a Kirby fan for a really long time so I'm definitely looking forward to this. While I didn't find it much of an issue, I can understand where you're coming from when you said Kirby is fairly repetitive. I didn't see it as much of an issue until Star Allies came around. I still think it's a good game, but not $60 good (especially not at launch). I actually think your initial comparison of this game to 3D World seems fairly accurate. This game is 3D, but it doesn't seem to be going to the big, open world 3D that we saw out of Mario 64 and Odyssey. That's not a bad thing though. I think this is a good first step for Kirby in 3D to see if this sort of thing works for the series. All in all, this game looks really good so far.
Take it from someone who loves the Kirby series and almost every main entry, this change needed to happen. This formula has been going on for over 30 years, and the 3ds games brought it to it absolute extreme. Even as a hardcore fan I agree that Star Allies sucked. It is one of the most bland, lazy, mindnumming games I've ever played, and the cool final boss and added content does not make up for how lane the campaign was. It was proof that the 2D formula had been exhausted, and the series was in need of a massive shift. This is definitely a step in the right direction,
I love star allies along side with return to dreamland, made me the Kirby fan I am today. I completely respect the other negative opinion about it for me, 10/10 game.
i feel like kirby and the forgotten land will have a lot of potential especially when you take into account that this was being made for a hot minute and hal has always wanted to make a fully 3d kirby experience since the gamecube era and with the amount of detail that seems to be going into it i have high hopes for this (also the lack of star allies stuff may have attributed to this since immediately following it was a remake of a free to play kirby game and a remake of a kriby fighting game which likely means that they were working on this since at least the end of star allies) also with this it feels like the devs genuinely wanted to do this whereas with pokemon they're just doing the pokemon breath of the wild concept out of obligation since thats what people wanted from the series since breath of the wild first came out
Honestly I’m super excited for PKM Arceus, it’s the kind of thing I’ve been waiting for out of Pokémon instead of being almost entirely uninteractive, at least to me. I also am excited for Kirby also of course, but I saw you scared about arceus. And you know what, that’s fair. But it looks like such a departure that we desperately need. It’ll feel so much more like we’re actually in the world, Y’know? Anyways, great video!
Very valid points as always. Didn't think about the length of the game beforehand. Hopefully it meets up to that price tag. Gonna stay hopefully optimistic though.
I just know I have Kirby forgotten land pre-ordered for my Little cousin's birthday. Otherwise I've been checked out as a Nintendo fan since the Nintendo switch expansion pack something curbed my consumer expectations.
Look, to be fair to Dread, it was always destined to be a speedrunner's game. That was apparent from the trailer. And I'm no speedrunner, but Dread was so much fun to blaze through because of how well the game was designed that I ended putting 40 hours into the game! My first run was 11 hours and I did 5 more playthroughs after that, with the first two being 100% runs on both difficulties. Anyways, long story short, Dread was a game made shorter because they wanted you to play through it multiple times. That may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think for what it was they knocked it out of the park. Oh, I forgot this was about the price. I think the game is worth the full 60 personally, but 50 or 40 would have been reasonable as well. I think the full price is justified by the quality of the package as opposed to the quantity.
I just hope that's not the start of a downfall for the Kirby franchise(like how security breach tried being ambitious and ended up being a mess)... I've been liking a lot their past entries.
I definitely understand your point here, and in fact I mostly agree. But, in the case of Metroid Dread, I think it’s worth the $60. My first run, where I went for all the optional upgrades, took almost 20 hours. I was able to trim it down to 10 on my subsequent hard mode playthrough where I did the same, but I still didn’t get to 8. And it’s kinda designed to be ran through multiple times and getting all the items is very beneficial to the player. So sure, if you run straight through, it’s probably not gonna be a lot of bang for your buck. But the extra completion options will likely, at least in my opinion, change that standpoint. That said, completion is not for everybody, and not everybody who even wants to really has the time. So I certainly understand
I totally agree with your points here. I’m a little sad that Forgotten Land doesn’t look to be 4 player co-op, just because I love Return to Dreamland so much, but if that’s what it takes to make the levels and game as a whole way better, then so be it.
I'm excited for this game. It looks to be the next step for the Kirby series and I couldn't be happier with what I'm seeing with the game. I thought Star Allies was meh, too basic and by the numbers and lacking in overall content (it finally got some meat to it eight months later but by then I had stopped caring), but Forgotten Land looks to be easily a game I can sink my teeth into and hopefully keep coming back for years to come with a timeless experience. One thing that raises my spirits is the game seems more single player focus, most of the new games on Switch that deal with a lack of content or unfinished are more multiplayer focused. As for a game's length... It's subjective. I've played games that have short length and love them, like Luigi's Mansion and Yoshi's Story and I came away from those games content, happy that I played them and still continue to go back and replay them to this day. I've beaten Luigi's Mansion more times than I can count. WarioWare: Get it Together was my first foray with the series and I love the game, it's addicting as all get out and I'm still playing to this day. Story mode is on the short side, but I left it feeling satisfied. The other modes are especially fun and I'm having a blast playing as Orbulon in Tweeze plucking armpit hairs out of a flexing statue. Games like Aces, despite the core gameplay being solid, I left the game with a soured opinion and have no desire to ever go back to it. Onto pricing, as an adult where my time can be limited, what I look for in a game is two things, if it's worth my time, and if the game is fun. What I want most out of a game is for it to be fun. 3D World + Bowser's Fury, WarioWare: Get it Together, and Mario Party Superstars, three games I bought at full price, I love all three of the games, still go back to em' now. All of em' really fun and I don't buy a ton of new games, but these three games left me happy. Mario Golf: Super Rush though? Well, I hated the game. Not just for the lack of content, the horrendous difficulty spikes killed the game for me. Only one course was fun for me, but hated pretty much the rest of the game. Left that game feeling jaded and angry. I played off and on, beat the story mode and left quite enraged, stopped playing and went back for like an hour for the New Donk City update, had fun but left and have no desire to go back. Just not worth my time. The new Kirby game looks like it'll be a whole lot of fun and I can't wait to get my hands on it in March. It looks good, looks fun, and I don't have any negatives to say. This is my first time watching your videos, this was a great video to watch, by the way! :)
While I am excited for Kirby and The Forgotten Land, I just hope it gives players a bit of a challenge and doesn't resort on staying on its easy difficulty setting that the Kirby series has been stuck with over the years especially it is the first 3D Kirby game of the series and it has to make a good presentation for gamers old and new Also hope you get well soon Uncle Al
I’m am excited for this game, it doesn’t look like a bare minimum effort kind of game that’s been coming out recently. Looks polished, like the old Nintendo
I suppose I look at these games in a different lense due to the fact 1 am one of 3 people in my friend group who loan out games to eachother. At worst, we as a group pay 60usd once and share it around. At best the Kirby addict buys it day one. Either way wonderful review as always! This game looks hella sick.
I just want Nintendo to experiment and try new stuff. Im so bored of the samey shit being released constantly. Metroid Dread is a step in the right direction, so hopfully this can be good too.
Kirby looks, but can he truely see?

Mario sunshine cheeks
Mario Sunshine probably only took that long because it’s kinda designed badly in a lot of ways
Honestly true dude, Been replaying Pikmin 2 and Mario Galaxy recently and bruh, these games are so long compared to the newer titles.
Those were player's choice copies.
That would not have been the case when they released day one.
I'm sure Kirby'll be at least as long as Odyssey.
I mean short games can be any price so long as they’re replayable.
Yeah, Kirby's team...is very tiny compared to most of Nintendo plus PR and SA were rushed which didn't help much
Thought seems like this game has more time, money and bigger staff working on it which makes me hype
Did you get the achievements? They will take you a long time
@@magicjohnson3121 Man I *hate* those achievements, they are kinda BS. The campaign length is really my only gripe with the game, I spend most of my time after that getting high scores and buying prezzies for the characters.
That’s what WarioWare always has been tho. How much more microgames should this game have?
@Wiley Midura what
I have to disagree about Wii U being "lazy" and not inventive enough.
@Wiley Midura L + Ratio + Cope + Denying Facts + your comment adds nothing
I hope this game is good, seeing something truly different for one of nintendo’s franchises since like, breath of the wild gives me some hope. I want this to be the game where we start seeing an upward trend in nintendo’s innovation but I don’t feel too confident about that. This year’s lineup is basically direct sequels to nintendo games that have already worked so idk. The idea of them letting teams get genuinely creative has kind of been dead since they said they wouldn’t let paper mario games make too many new characters, but I can hope they let someone who cares make something cool sooner rather than later.
Uuuhhh… Ever heard of Mario Odyssey?
I think Forgotten Land looks great personally. It's just so freaking cool to see Kirby finally get his big 3D adventure. But I agree with Al when he mentioned game length. I'm paying 60 buckaroonies for this, I wanna spend a good amount of time in this adventure
Whether it’s a sequel or not doesn’t matter
What matters is the game is good
And this new game is looking like it’s gonna be a hit
Edit:Also Whispy woods is an iconic first boss so of course some variation of him would exist in forgotten land, is a stable of the series at this point
Edit2:If they mess it up then it's a shame I was wrong from Hal.
I'd love to see more retrospectives/reviews like your Wario World vid.
Kirb Your Enthusiasm
I 100% on the price tag relating to game length. Beforehand you could pay Nintendo about 50$ and at minimum you get a solid 10 hour game no matter which series you play. But nowadays it just leads to more and more shorter games while keeping the whole 60$ tag. A game can look and play nice, but if I complete the game in under 6 hours I feel kinda ripped off. For this upcoming Kirby game I hope they take the Mario odyssey route and make it a long and fun playthrough with many nooks and crannies to explore.
Its like candy bars
Personally I really hope this game has a stronger pull than just "Kirby in a 3D space." I mean that's cool and all but like, you're almost 30 years late to the party bucko. You know what I'm saying? It's neat to see Kirby in a 3D space but I don't want it to be the ONLY hook this game has.
It does at least have more interesting locations so hopefully yeah

I suppose after Sakirai left to 2011, they didn't really have a clear sense of direction (maybe earlier if you count SSU)
It's also improved on some of the copy abilities
who knows? maybe U.F.O can go down ladders
I'm more excited because HAL has been pumping out great games, while Game Freak has been...lackluster at best
I mean Kirby officially canonically gets a gun
Well at least we know that there will be a hub area of sorts, which hasn't happened traditionally in the Kirby franchise before. Again, this isn't anything revolutionary, but I do think if they are making more of these design changes in Forgotten Land it will provide a unique experience. A fulfilling one, however, will forever be left up for debate, I'm sure. Even months or years after the game releases.
Wow I can't believe an NFT made its own RUclips channel
I will admit and agree with you, Al, that despite Nintendo being a great console and game maker, we have a really shitty oversensitive community that only adds gas to the tire fire that is Twitter. But at least, thank god, Kirby and the Forgotten Land looks fantastic. I am very much looking forward to this game.
So like Al you went to the grocery store for just coupons and lottery tickets, and nothing else?

Nintendo is not a small indie warehouse like Re-Logic, the makers of Terraria. This a multi billion dollar company. It really disappoints me that they are just chasing dollar signs with a bakery with undercooked cookies, just like Rockstar when they came up with the GTA trilogy.
Love you man so glad to see you back.

That site has been on a constant downward spiral ever since tumblr banned porn
I've just gotten this game today and I gotta say as someone who's never played a Kirby game outside of Epic Yarn Deluxe
It's really fun
Lots of little side missions and hidden waddle dees in each level and they're all a fairly good length each with a good bit of variety between them with the things Kirby can S U C C and use. It doesn't seem to be terribly short as I've played it for a good 6-7 hours and I've completed about 20% of the game according to the title screen.
All in all, I just think it's a fun time and a good game to relax to and so far it's worth the price of admission
This is why I don't listen to people and I just enjoy the awesome games nintendo gives us
You do you! Don't let what other people think influence how you feel about the games you enjoy.
Tbh i am wishing for a kirby rpg
But i dont think it will make sense
But considering hal laboratory is the same company that made the mother series it could work
Good to see a new vid from you.
And don't worry, I'm way ahead of you on that DK part :P
hehehe
funni monke and pink ball, my two favorite identifiers
Metroid Dread is so short, you get _rewarded_ for beating the game in less than 4 hours according to the in-game timer.
ON HARD MODE!
Good vid but I disagree kinda/
I think the main campaign should be short.
Glad to see you back, Al!
This Kirby game looks promising to be sure.
Warioware's hook is literally going for highscores. And the game itself is so ridiculously polished. I would've gladly paid $60 for it. If it was on the 3ds it would've been $40 (but also less polished and with lower incentive to play multiplayer)
I dunno, Uncy Munky. I feel like you slip on your own banana peels too often comparing apples to oranges.
It's not a bad game, but $60 is a pretty big stretch. $30-$40 maybe.
I'm just saying, gold had more content, better modes, and fun cutscenes, and it sold for $20 less on weaker hardware.
Not true. Try and 100% the game. There’s a crap ton to do.
1:40 that’s why I got rid of Twitter, got tired of being called a bigot for wanting Nintendo to make actual games instead of (NEW!) new super mario bros U switch edition
As for Kirby, I think it looks great and I’m excited to see how it turns out
I feel like Metroid Dread was supposed to not be long, as hardcore Metroid fans really love to speed run Metroid games, and Metroid Dread was the first Metroid in years so I think they wanted to tailor it to bigger fans and new ones but especially bigger fans.
Hopefully you don't have to spend 30$ for the second campaign. Dedede gets a job.
Pokémon moment
I also want to see Nintendo do better and understand why Al doesn't want to deal with Ninten Stans on twitter anymore.
Kirby looks, he can look at sides instead of only up down left and right
I really don't blame you for not uploading, it still peeves me off whenever people are just fine digesting literally anything Nintendo puts out because to me it just feels like a justified excuse for Nintendo to keep being lazy or rush development
What's uncle Al's verdict? Ad plays

Glad you're recovering from covid
Also this feels like a sequel or in the same timeline as Kirby 64 like with shiver star
Also that was really good point with Kirby new direction stuff, like with the HAL labs Community feedback interview
I've never felt too let down by Kirby games that often, only a few come to mind, but most of the time, they tend to be well worth the price. Then again I'm a Kirby fanboy, so I dunno.
A lot of Curb jokes. What are your thoughts on the recent seasons of curb?
Actually I just started watching it fairly recently, I'm midway through season 5 at the moment. Loving the show so far though, absolutely hilarious.
@@UncleAlPlus glad to hear it. Second to last season is my favorite. Larry spends the whole season setting up a coffee shop out of sheer spite to run the jerk next door out of business.

Finally another Uncle Al Plus video! 👀 :D
Great vid Al. Loved the Curb references and music lol
Nintendo fans I know are generally pretty chill.
The ones on Twitter though? Very different breed, absolutely horrifying creatures
I’m a big Kirby fan, but Kirby Star Allies, while fun, was the most tiring
For your official review of this game, you should title it Kirb Your Enthusiasm! 😂
not sure if you’ll see this, but whether it’s nintendo or not i appreciate this channel just to hear your thoughts on things and whatnot. i love your main channel, but that isn’t much of a discussion platform, ya know?
Glad you're recovering Al, great to have ya back! Ngl from the recent trailer I'm getting "the beginning of Nier automata" vibes, as bizarre as that sounds
I thought last video was the final nail in the coffin! Unless you're a ghost monkus now...
Glad to have ya back anyways!
When is the monkey tier list gonna show up
Genuine glee seeing you back from the store
Take it from someone who loves the Kirby series and almost every main entry, this change needed to happen. This formula has been going on for over 30 years, and the 3ds games brought it to it absolute extreme. Even as a hardcore fan I agree that Star Allies sucked. It is one of the most bland, lazy, mindnumming games I've ever played, and the cool final boss and added content does not make up for how lane the campaign was. It was proof that the 2D formula had been exhausted, and the series was in need of a massive shift. This is definitely a step in the right direction,
Yea I agree I feel like with Star Allies it’s mostly fan service and I spend most the time in post game stuff
Anyways, great video!
new uncle al video boys
1:22 I think that’s just twitter and not the fans.
love your editing dude
So glad to see ya again here. Chatting and talking. Great!!
This, bayonetta 3 and botw 2 are the only reasons to be excited for Nintendo after the end of smash
My boyfriend thinks there's a lot of similarities in this game with "Super Mario Odyssey", and I agree.
Ok introspective
I resonate with this statement, and it's my core reason why I'm never on Twitter. 1:28
The Kirby game looks far superior graphically than Pokemon Legends
While I am excited for Kirby and The Forgotten Land, I just hope it gives players a bit of a challenge and doesn't resort on staying on its easy difficulty setting that the Kirby series has been stuck with over the years especially it is the first 3D Kirby game of the series and it has to make a good presentation for gamers old and new
Also hope you get well soon Uncle Al
I’m am excited for this game, it doesn’t look like a bare minimum effort kind of game that’s been coming out recently. Looks polished, like the old Nintendo
Mr Talent himself has returned
1:24 Thanks for the clarification. Other places are toxic, sure, but Twitter's on a whole other level when you share your opinion.
Welcome back!
I missed your content. Please do Pokemon Arceus.
So glad you’re back mr gamer kong
3d kirby with co op
This is gonna be epic
I suppose I look at these games in a different lense due to the fact 1 am one of 3 people in my friend group who loan out games to eachother. At worst, we as a group pay 60usd once and share it around.
At best the Kirby addict buys it day one.
Either way wonderful review as always! This game looks hella sick.
Please do a video on Pokémon arceus, I can’t get enough of people ripping apart the atrocity that Pokémon has become!
I just want Nintendo to experiment and try new stuff. Im so bored of the samey shit being released constantly.
Metroid Dread is a step in the right direction, so hopfully this can be good too.
Metroid Dread is the same old😂😂😂😂😂. Ring Fit Adventure is more experimental.
As a Kirby fan I'm hyped.
