  • A Wii U retrospective in the year of our lord 2024? How utterly daring.
Created this back in May as a final year college project, if it does well, who knows? Maybe I'll make more of these kinda things. If not, well I'm still glad I got this out there. Hope people get a kick out of this, I know I did.
This documentary follows the lifespan of the Wii U video game console. From its misguided unveiling to its unfortunate end, the full story of the console is chronicled in this retrospective. The first act of the documentary gives the watcher a history lesson on Nintendo’s past, from their inception in 1889, to the release of the Nintendo Entertainment System, and eventually the release of the original Wii, which was the catalyst for what would inevitably create the Wii U console. I also delve into the games released on the platform, the disastrous marketing that killed the system’s chances, and how Nintendo were able to bounce back from such a low point with their next console. This is the tale of the tablet between titans…

Slightly unrelated but your footage of the “Wii would like to play” campaign was the most HD I’ve seen that clip ever

Yeah it took a while to find one that didn't look like it was recorded on a 3DS.

Always loved the Wii U, it’s a shame it never caught on, I feel like there was so much potential with the game pad. Great video

Wii U was so damn cool. One thing I miss, You could have RUclips play on the tablet while playing your game on the tv, or vise versa

Yeah I loved the flexibility of the gamepad, even though I really enjoy the Switch I do miss having a second screen on my controller. It worked really well in tandem with some games like Zelda Wind Waker and Captain Toad in particular, and yeah RUclips was great on it too.

How is the sub count so low? Over a decade of quality content should have amassed at least a *decent* following. Hell, there are absolute trash channels putting in nearly zero effort with 10's of thousands of subs for no other reason than their age and upload consistency. Baffling.
I appreciate the quality and commitment to putting in work, despite the lower sub count.
Its an indicator that these are more than just obligatory uploads, but genuine passion projects.
    Definitely subbed!

Starfox Zero's controls are better than people think. One you can use the minus button to swap the cock pit view to the TV screen and vice versa. Most importantly, you can use training mode to get better, because this game has a huge learning curve.

      @DankFrank899  2 дня назад

Honestly fair, I only played through Star Fox Zero once myself but I've been meaning to come back to it to give it another try. I think my biggest issue with the game was that it just didn't feel like enough of an evolution for a new Star Fox game at the time, it just felt like a pseudo remake of Star Fox 64 without that game's spark. That said, it wasn't bad, and the controls were something you could get used to with practice.

@@DankFrank899 Thats because Miyamoto runout of ideas for the series in general, which is why the series ended. So Zero has elements of other SF games. The walker came from the canceled SF 2. The boss fight with Mother Strider from Zero, is a reference to Aparoid Ship from SF Assault. The Monarch Dodora from SF 1, returns in this game.
The downside of SF Zero is that it may take about 8 hours in training mode to fully have the controls be second nature. The good news is unlike 64, the training mode in Zero is much in depth and encourages experimentation.
The appeal of motion controls is that it allows you to aim outside the direction of the ship. Which makes sense because Zero has bigger levels than 64.

Back in December I was at my local dollar general and I saw they were selling old games Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 and Wii games and I saw a blue case I knew the Wii U was the only console with blue cases for the games so I bought it even though I don’t have a Wii U it was 4 bucks it was a steel! And it was just dance 2017

Yeah the Wii U was probably the ultimate Just Dance machine tbh, especially with Wii backwards compat. You can play like 20 of them!

    Hacked wii u is incredible
Edit: after hearing that tepig song, I had to seek it out. I'm 34 and have been playing pokemin since RB in 98 and that song may very well be the reason God saw fit to get me hooked on the series. I was meant to hear it, all paths led me to this monent and my life journey is complete.

Random question. Do you still have the file for your Set the World on Fire AMV from around 10 years ago? I'd love to see it again even on another platform

@@DankFrank899 Hi, thanks for sending the link, could you please allow me access to it? Also...
OMG YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM THAT IT DOES STILL EXIST.
I was literally like 12-13 when I used to watch it regularly on school computers. It was also my introduction to Black Veil Brides (that and the In the End GMV by SownSky).

@@DankFrank899 They're a great band. I just had a watch and holy crap the nostalgia. I remember only knowing a handful of those games as a kid but I've played like 99% of them now. Brilliant stuff

@@SaiyanKurosakiHaha tbh even I had only played maybe like 30 percent of those games at that point, but I used to love watching and downloading the trailers, which was why I started making gmvs at the time. Really nostalgic time in my life for sure, those were very fun to make.
