    Another thing. The freeware version is just a bunch of scripts and code snapped together into a big mess. The 2016 remake has been completely rescripted which means that elevators, doors, physics, and other stuff like that are all in their own modules. This means that if someone wanted to make their own map it would be so much easier than if they were going to do that in the freeware.

      Yeah, currently updating old maps. It does a convincing job of looking like code from another world.

      Yeah, I decided not to tamper with game files to record a fresh playthrough, so hopefully not that many people who are planning to play the game will stumble upon this video. And if some will hopefully the won't pick up on Niko being different. =^● ⋏ ●^=

    I would argue that the ending of the remake is more is the sun worth it to replace. You have gotten to know more about this world and its inhabitants, but will putting back the sun really save the world? It might give it a few more years yes, but is Niko's future worth completely rewriting for a few more years?

    • @playplaint
      @playplaint  10 месяцев назад +9

      The problem with discussing what is the best choice to pick at end of each game (without knowing what happens in Solstice DLC) is the intentional ambiguity of several things.
      -We don't really know what happens to Niko if sun is returned.
      -We don't really know what happens to Niko if sun isn't returned.
      -We don't really know whether the in-game world has the chance at being restored or not after sun is returned. (Maybe the squares go away after some time)
      -We don't really know who is lying, the Entity or the Author or maybe both.
      The ambiguity is probably left on purpose by the developers, so there's no one clear logical choice at the end of the game and you have to make a decision mostly with your feelings.
      And to bring it back to your point. Different players make their decision at the end. But assuming we don't really know what happens to Niko after either of the choices, more interactions and longer conversations with characters in the remake help to feel MORE invested in the outcome of the in-game world than in original game.

    In fact dejavu was patched in bc people couldnt keep the game open or power from going out and that meant not being able to play ever again. Also the game can crash if you press f4.
    Technically only the v1.0 os14 is the true "one shot". The one you can download is v1.3
    P. S: Also pressing f12 can kills Niko instantly.

      Thanks! I didn't really get into OneShot development that much but if you mean me mentioning RPG Maker, then yes, it's quite accessible if you are not familiar with game development. That's why some artists use RPG Maker to make games and draw cutscenes/character icons, create original game sprites, etc., for it so they don't have to invest a lot of time, if any, in programming

    I used the remake for my first playthrough and I think the final choice was very impactful. I was legit deciding for around 40 minutes when it came to it.
    It wasn't easy. I wasn't sure if returning the sun is going to save the world because of the conflicting messages from the npcs. I was scared that I'd just delay the world's death and that I'd make Niko stuck in it and die with it. Also even if Niko made friends that could take care of them, they're just a child. They shouldn't carry a burden of being some messiah. They're going to miss their family, their village. They won't just get over that. They didn't choose to be in this situation it's not fair. And at that point I was still not convinced whether anything except of Niko was real.
    I ended up retuning the sun and in my eyes gambling with Niko's life.
    Literally minutes after that I found Solstice route and I felt like an idiot like my choice didn't matter at all.

    I never played the free version, but i hope i can still share my opinion
    1. The rule of one shot is really unique and i think they did that grsat in both free and paid version, but both also have their flaws
    In the free version, u can't close the game without destroying the run. So if ur Electricity runs out or similair, even tho ur already at the tower, ruins the whole run and the desire to play it can run out easily. However in the paid version, it becomes slightly useless since it has no major consequence. I think it should have the possibility to close like in thw paid one, but too many should've still killed niko.
    2. The solstice ending also has both positives and negatives. Yes it destroys the choice you do in your first run, but i never knew about the solstice ending in the first place so it took someone else to tell me about it. The story became way cooler, u learned more about the creation of thr world and it's past and u feel way more like ur the savior than in your first run, cuz everyone else who would've been capable of doing just died while trying. But yes it makes you question about your first choice. However, the feeling you had in your first run just doesn't go away. U actualy thought this is your only attempt and your choice mattered. It turned out it didn't, but that's not changing your first experience
    The only sad part is that niko never questioned if they are moving on their own, or if the god controls them. Even the world machine thinks you are not controling niko, which is simply false.nik it was trying to make them a rl person of our world, but then it woulf've been cooler if they asked about it and just goes like "oh you do? Of course, you're a god. Just please don't make me jump off a cliff" or something similar, just to give the player the knowledge that the game also knows about you controling the protag
    Anyways this is all i have to say. I love this game so much it literly just kicked undertale from the #1 game for me. I really love the world and Niko and it's totaly underrated :D

  • @stanisawzokiewski3308
    @stanisawzokiewski3308 Месяц назад

    The remake does a lot more with the relationships and this world.
    The choice becomes tilted towards returning the sun, over returning Niko.
    I think to counterbalance the final choice, more bonding with Niko specifically should be done, more and longer conversations between the player, maybe some ambition Niko has that could only be fullfilled in their homeworld, or implying more that Niko would have to be a sacrifice without stating it directly.
    Also emphasizing that the sun cant fix what already was broken in the world.
    I believe this would make the choice more 50/50 in what players choose.
