@@Wishtelle Yeah, it has flaws, but it's still my favorite game and Niko is still my favorite character. I actually played it on steam before I watched this, so it was fun seeing Markiplier find out all the stuff that's cool about this game and the puzzles.

@@tardis225 Thankfully, this game doesn't take much to run, so you don't need anything sophisticated. Hell, Undertale gave my old HP more strain than Oneshot did.

@Rei Matheny Only in synergistic systems, not monergism. I recommend googling TULIP (the five points of calvinism) for a look into what reformed theology brings, which is arrived at through exegesis directly from the texts.
In short, in synergistic systems such as catholism or liberal theology (open theism), the creatures will is the determining factor and decides who is going to be "saved" or not. But in reformed thought Gods will reigns sovereign over the creatures will which is basically his tool to do what he wants over. In short God knows what hes doing.
Reformed theology summary is that we are all in a fallen state by Gods design and choice. Everything has a purpose, either as an expression for Gods justice/judgement or as an expression of his grace. Since its impossible to please God or submit to him in the flesh (Romans 8:7), only the "saved" or those that end up in the book of life are there as a result of the Grace of God on Cavalry and nothing more. The creature will does not influence this. But Gods grace is irresistible to the creatures, confirming those he desires to have mercy on and changing their evil hearts to better fit the spirit of God that dwells within them.
I believe in Jesus because I had supernatural experience / encounter with the lord. I believe in tulip and reformed theology because its the only doctrine imo that apply's proper exegesis of critical texts like John 6:44 (john 6:37-40 also) where as the lord Jesus says that nobody can come to Jesus unless God draws him. Romans 8:7 once again says its impossible to submit to God or please him in the flesh. The entirety of the NT is filled with gems like this that paint a monergistic narrative of the lord. Not synergistic where as its entirely up to our will if we submit to Jesus or not.

Exactly, glad someone else knew that. However, they are technically correct if they were referring to the Book, I, Robot. The movie was just a really odd offshoot that only shares the name as the book was a collection of short stories.
Fun fact: Almost every story involving the three laws of robotics involve them being broken or rewritten somehow, typically by robots.
Look up the Zeroth Law (Simplified: Killing humans is okay if it protects humanity as a whole).

Mark i am SO happy you're playing this gem of a game. maybe now it will get the recognition it deserves. things to note for the others in the comments: Oneshot came before undertale, and this game is best experianced blind so if you have ANY desire to play it go now before watching marks series.
comments to mark: do try to interact with things multiple times. a lot of objects in game have alternate dialogue. you'll know when you've exhausted them when they start repeating the last one you got. do try to use everything, on everything. theres some quirky little conversations that come up if one uses something in ways it wasnt meant to be used. you got a glimps of that when you tried the bottle and the LITERAL SUN ITSELF on the crusher machine. also dont skip dialogue! a lot of it you only get once! button mashing is a nono, i emplore, spend at least enough time on each dialogue box to check out nikos precious little expressions on the side.

It's crazy that in the original, if you closed the game even once Niko just straight up died. Felt like it gave more meaning to the name and the game, but in an LP the remaster is probably better. After all, how do you make a series on a game that ends if you close it?

I know this is a year old, but the original allowed you to close the game when you let niko sleep in a bed when he was tired. Closing at any other time killed niko.

Mark thank you so much for sharing this game with us. After watching the video I got really hyped to play it and scraped togeather enough money to buy it. 20minutes ago I finished my first play through.
now I i refuse to give spoilers but I have three comments. the first is that you will need to let us see your whole screen so we can understand what's going on at certain points. second is when you are recording talk aloud to niko even when there's no game dialog as well as to us. and last is explore everywhere. there's more then a few hidden and interesting details ;)

sadly not. however it does help build immersion and attachment to the character. and that attachment is a key part of the game

(They basically just talk to you a bunch, which dosent make it really interesting when the characters break the fourth wall, unlike undertale, where it very rarely does it, and makes it extremely emotional, as in scary or extraordinary) I see plenty of undertale references, so they probably took
I started watching this video, ten minutes in I decided to buy the game myself and play it.
I got to a point where I found a bed, Niko complained they were tired, so they asked me if they could take a nap. I said yes, and it closed my freakin' game.
So now I'm back watching video's and waiting for Niko to have a decent nap.

@@savvythedivineyethuggable7493 Not as much as a fourth wall breaker. The most we get from undertale (I think) is when Flowey crashes your game after he kills Asgore in the neutral route and when Omega Flowey kills you. One Shot literally has you look into the game files on your computer.

I love this kind of game! The simplistic yet very detailed world just makes for a cool atmosphere, and done right, then you get jewels like undertale and other like it! - I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Love this so much! The music and the colors in the game got me really hooked into playing it. Not only that but Niko is such a lovable character.
Tip: sleeping is a save mechanic but I'd recommend sleeping when Niko is actually tired. Not only do you save the game but you will move on with your journey...

Watching this playthrough is like reading a fanfic that you know hasn't been updated for six years and it turns out really good so you're heartbroken when it abruptly ends
Fun Fact: in the old original version (Non-Steam), if you closed the game the main character died and you cannot open the game another time. It was blocked forever.

Yeah I missed this mechanic and wish they would have left it in the commercial release of the game, though I understand why they removed it.

I decided to play this game on my own today and just finished all of it, including the new game + that Mark never played and I have to say it's an absolute tragedy that he didn't. The run he did of this game is fine and in itself can be considered its own, contained story and ending, but if you replay it again after that so many things change, and you get the 'true' ending, which is so much better in every way.
I guarantee that ending is why this game is rated so highly, and it's crazy that Mark never did it. Easily on par with Undertale, in terms of meta breaking this may even be more powerful, but it lacks the rpg gameplay elements of Undertale, still, I would rate them both evenly.
This game is ridiculously underrated and underappreciated.

Here 5 years later, the new "TWM" version has come out and yet still this franchise of OneShot is still underrated. More people should know about this game and I feel Mark should come back to this and finish the now fully released game.
