thank you for bringing up the combat aspect of the game and how easy it is, no other reviews I found mentioned that. I'm honestly curious if the contrast of the extremely easy fights compared to the amount of spells / things you can do in a fight is satirical, or if it's just something the developer did not think much about.

very nice video by the way! thank you for providing the background knowledge regarding the game, i honestly thought it was a satire of yume nikki fangames myself. i liked how you mentioned that the npc names and appearances didn't even matter, I didn't even consider that myself.

Thank you, I'm glad you liked the video! :) I didn't actually think that overabundance of spells/items could be on purpose, good point. In the interview that I read the developer(thecatamites) said that hasn't played Yume Nikki by the time of Space Funeral release, so there's that.

I remember getting prepared for the final boss, and in just ONE HIT it killed him, it made me laugh a lot, i think it fits the game humor.

Space Funeral, it's definitely a short game with some flaws, sure, but it's also a brilliant game with excellent writing, story and messaging. Something I'm not sure a lot of people notice about it is that it seems to be an RPG in reverse, if you look at the boss order minus MOON. You first (optionally) fight a dragon, a cave ghoul, a mob boss and then a runaway prince. Put those in reverse and that kinda sounds like a typical rpg journey! It's still my favorite RPGMaker game ever, more than other greats like LISA or Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass (the latter I do deeply enjoy, don't get me wrong).

I think that's because you typically start at the center of the world, that being a castle or its town (Cornelia in FF1, for example). Since you're starting out elsewhere, you're making your way to the center which means fighting the enemies in reverse.

great analysis!! i hadn't thought of that sort of arbitrary naming angle before, and i thought i had already overanalyzed every detail myself lol

So the reason the game became popular is because this random guy named Vinny decided to play it one day. And ever since then, people have checked it out.
But in order to truly understand the game, you have to talk to Dracula in the snow area. Only then will you understand this game.
