Yup, that and not arming the giant, who fought at the battle of the bastards and turned into a pin cushion, before following John Snow and being killed by Ramsay Bolton, with an arrow through the eye.

It was the fearlessness of the dead not their massive numbers that over came the Dothraki. The riders were accustomed to breaking the ranks of infantry, plowing over and through them

I dreamt that Dothrakis just went in from the sides when ennemy had charge the insulined from the front, that would have been some Amazing strategy...

Exactly. Maybe have one of the dragons open some space with its dragon breath and the dothraki charging them! Man did they fumble this
It was a defence so the strategy should have been defensive. They could have maned the walls or stood behind the trench. They just wasted huge amount of army for nothing xD.. I think the producer couldn't bear Dothraki expenses so they decided to remove them .
Sending the Dothraki on a head on charge into the darkness was one of the dumbest, unrealistic blunders I’ve ever seen. This not only depletes the ranks but added to the dead ranks.
I wish this battle had never taken place!! I wish that my Queen paid more attention to the South and took back King Landing. With her full strength!

Dothrakis didnot deserve this brutal decimation. They were skilled worriers and Ended like a piece of cake in seconds. They should have kept them at the end.
This combination is totally awesome. I'm not sure if this is the official soundtrack in that episode in GOT.

Great video but MY FUCKIN GOD was this a stupid battle plan. Just charge right into the enemy. Especially when they already stated, previously, that straightforward tactics weren't gonna work.

tbh i kinda understand that the dothraki had to charge in to make all hope fade for the others, but it would have been so much better if
1. they let the wights charge at the unsullied
2. the dragons would cut the wight army in half with fire
3. the dothraki would charge in from the side
perhaps they were scared of white walker spears?
also, where tf was tyrion with his wildfire? his one success as battle commander, completely forgot about it or what?
Two steps from hell is a good title! They should have stood aside and lead the straight up to Cersei and Kings Landing! The Mountain probably would have joined being he’s already The Living Dead 💀!

Made absolutely zero sense for the dothrakis to have ridden in the first wave, knowing fully well that the walkers outnumber them by a ton.
Best battle would have been for them to lie in wait of sorts.

The only good thing about this battle is the darkness. So dark we didnt waste time looking at more cr.. battle and more stupid sacrifes.... no wait, somehow lots of them survived and appear at the final battle xD

i was yelling at my tv about the stupidity of this battle! but the series got even worse after this.
Shame. Only houses Targaryen, Mormont, Greyjoy (through Theon ig) and Karstark did any fighting. Everyone just ran away.

I'd think that war hammers would have been more effective than spears or swords against zombies.

Love the music but the clip is ruining it
The director should’ve been fired, how could you film critical scenes that are so dark you can’t see what’s going on. Shame on the studio to watch this happen and keep writing checks, what a complete travesty. Only topped by the by the ending of the show for how to completely tarnish and forever ruin the legacy of the show. It’s like they gave up and gave a toddler the authority to do whatever they wanted. Just completely ruined the show.

Why are they not using the perfectly good fortress right behind them, why are the siege engines in front of the infantry, why are the cavalry just sent to die unsupported. Horrible tactics and poor writing aside, it’s a cool video and the music makes it feel more epic than it is.

It would have made more sense for them to abandon Winterfell and hold out their defense at the Eyrie. The WW wouldn't have been able to touch them there.

Overrated
The worst episode in GoT. The episode that completely killed the show.. forever.
The whole battle was badly planned and poorly executed kinda like season 6 through 8.

This episode was a cinematic masterpiece on par with big budget movies. However the writing was awful, the battle tactics used were clearly from someone with zero understanding of medieval warfare, like who thought it would make sense to put catapults at the front! of your army & to charge light shock cavalry in to the front of a zombie horde... The level of plot armour given to special characters was also insufferable. The Night King's death was an insult, that should have been John, maybe with help at the end.
This episode was the one which caused me to stop watching this show. I gave the next episode a chance and I didn't even finish watching it. Somehow the Dothraki are back in massive numbers again alongside the Unsullied who valiantly sacrificed themselves so the other forces could withdraw in to the city. These reverses of all the losses suffered makes the impact of their sacrifices pointless.
