This fulfilled my CAGED knowledge on the chord shapes; I previously looked at the G minor shape as two bars at the bottom without the the b3, but now I know better. Thank you, sir. I have one question, though: how are the modes associated with this system? The CAGED method to me seems purely pentatonic; that is, the chord shapes seem to be derived from pentatonic intervals.

Michael D.- Looking forward to Stich's Modes video too! I highly recommend you spend $1.29 and buy the Chord Shape PDF Stich is selling. He also has one available in another lesson for the Major Penta shapes!
The Pentatonic scales come from the major scale. They are just 5 of the 7 notes of the major scale. I've struggled with making sense of CAGED and Pentatonic Boxes and shapes for soo long. Stich has really helped bring it all into focus in my brain. I'd strongly suggest sticking to Stich with regards to these topics. There are too many other teachers out there that make things confusing. Stich isn't giving us opinion, its musical facts. And his style and ability to explain things is a true gift!!

I think Ian is trying to solve a problem here for the CAGED system and I give him a lot of credit. Most people that talk and teach about the CAGED system say how CAGED has changed everything about the way they solo because of how they visual chords on the neck. That is great but they never address or talk about it much deeper or talk about the problem for Minor shapes and that is really frustrating. How do you visualize the fretboard, Major or Minor? For me, this is really helpful because I know the CAGED system but I think it terms of Minor. Thank you, Ian.
