The single best CAGED lesson ever. New to the channel and in the 5 videos I have watched, Brian has taught me; music theory, CAGED, how to play the piano, subdivisions, and how to create a track from scratch in a DAW. This guy deserves 10MM+ subs easily. His ability to communicate effectively makes him a tremendous teacher. Understanding the guitar has never been easier for me now.

This is the most complete, informative and easy to understand 'CAGED' lesson from start to finish I've seen to date. Maybe it's simply that I assimilate well with your teaching style. Nearly all of your lessons, after I've seen them a few times to let them fully digest, really seem to sink in and give me a lot of those "Aha, I get it" moments. Bravo my man, bravo!

so, first. i am 50. i played guitar in my teens (the 80's) , and really did not do anything but just learn a few things, songs, scales, chords etc. and odd things here and there. I took some lessons for a few months back then and then I picked up a guitar again about 3 or 4 months ago. I have been watching a ton of videos to learn again and I have watched a few videos of CAGED theory videos but this, this is insightful. I get it, I do not think I did before, but now I do. really helpful, i just wanted to say, thank you.

Brian this is the best description of CAGED anywhere on RUclips. I finally understood what it was all about a year ago or so, but it took me watching like 10 shorter videos, and reading websites on the subject to put it all together after the confusion. If someone has the attention span to watch this whole video you put together, they'll get it for sure. I'm going to recommend your video anytime I hear someone confused about CAGED. Your teaching style is great man, I wish I could find a local teacher like you. I'd gladly pay for weekly lessons.

I think your approach is so humble and not super RUclipsy, which is why you don't have millions of views...yet. Your knowledge is extremely impressive and really makes me want to sit down and force myself to understand what I've been missing for 20 years. I did the whole tab and by-ear thing when I was young because I wanted to play Metallica songs. Years later I realize that understanding more of what makes those songs what they are and maybe a little of what the writing process was like is so much more important than playing the same shit over and over again. I hope your channel continues to do well and you get the recognition you deserve. People should really pay for this type of knowledge.

I like and am very inspired by over a dozen excellent RUclips platformed guitar lessons, but after I stumbled on one of your videos focused on knowing a songs key with the Circle of 5ths applied to demonstrating how to quickly learn a song by ear..........organizing a quick and logical method utilizing the options in Key/Circle of 5ths ..........this changed how I look at everything! It was the most amazing eureka moment that turned my limited music mind on to finally organize where I am plus options. I was blown away and felt very stupid (this was my favorite "Derrrrr" dumb eureka moment!) that I wasn't quick enough to recognize this years ago........oh well, haaaaa!!!!
Brian! You are significantly superior to other excellent guitar instructors, period period period!!! Keep knocking it out of the park brother!!!
I will be joining and getting your guitar lesson training materials soon here after I get through Christmas/New Years then I'll start a notebook(s) to solidify your lessons into my old knucklehead.....haaa!!
Keep up your great and amazing teaching style brother! I'm a fan!

This video and others can help but sometimes one just has to memorize various aspects of music to get to the next level... I think Clapton, Van Halen, etc. don't need this but if you're not one of them, maby you do. Shapes or patterns kinda help me do what I want to do. Thanks for the help.

BEFORE watching this video: I struggled with the word "shape". The "C"-Shape doesn't look like a "C", it even looks different for each chord I play in this "shape". Looking at the pentatonic system, each pentatonic "box" has the same shape. But not in the CAGED-system. 🥺 AFTER watching this video: now things become clear to me! 😃🎉 THX VERY MUCH

Pentatonic is for the scale (layer 1). CAGED is for chords (layer 2) 😁

I've watched a few of your videos and always found them helpful but you are literally the first RUclips guitar teacher that has FINALLY got this through my head. I follow a lot from Justin to Marty to whomever and none of them was able to so clearly explain CAGED like you just have. Thank you, newly subbed to the channel.

I guess I needed to watch like 5 different explanations of this until I got to you to figure it out. It just wasn't really making sense until this video. Now I'm figuring it out all across the fretboard. Such a freeing feeling. I'll become a member of your site soon. You're an excellent teacher. Thank you.

GOLD ! I paused about 6 times to take notes LOL ! ''Chord chasing'' (1,3, 5) is now so much easier to me thanks to this vid. It made me want to learn where all the 1 to 7 notes were (per scale) and thanks to the actual barre chord shapes of the CAGED system (not the pentatonic patterns but actual shapes), the 1,3, 5 notes are now a piece of cake to find. THANKS 😁 !

Fantastic video. I have watched so many videos on the caged system but all seemed to leave out just enough to lose me somewhere along the way.
This is the clearest and most comprehensive video on the caged system. Thank you so much
