Its phenomenal how one man can teach so much content so elegantly and clearly in one no-nonsense video when there are so many others out there who would take 20 videos to cover this and confuse the hell out of you.
I Couldn't agree more. Brian's approach to most things seems to be cut out all the crap and don't spend the first 15 minutes of a video noodling while trying to impress us all with what a great player he is. A rare and talented tutor.
Clearest, easiest to understand that I have found anywhere. Everything I was having difficulty grasping for weeks clicked after listening to your explanations. Great job and thank you!
I'm a 52 yr old man who struggled to learn the guitar since I was 14yo, from that time until now I only manage to learn songs I want to play and some bar chords but don't understand any modes and scales and how to apply them to playing. I have watched other guitar tutorials but it left me more confused than before watching them. your circle of fifths short video ended up in my feed and perfectly explained to me everything in 1 minute. I subbed and binged some of your videos and now I understand the scales and modes and I am starting to learn how to solo. little by little I am improving everyday. Thank you so much for this.
I’ve seen a million circle of fifths videos. but this is the only one that is comprehensive and I understood very easily. you are doing a great service to the next generation of musicians. thank you
This is the most comprehensive and the best explained Circle of Fifths tutorial I've ever come across. No one summarizes it better than Brian Kelly. Highly recommended. Thank you!
If this guy can’t help you, give it up! Been following for over a year and missed this lesson before but holy cow! What a whopper of a lesson! 30 minutes and Brian just gave you a college credit worth of music theory! You the man ! Thanks again as always!
That is hands down the easiest and most concise explanation of the circle of fifths i have come across , I can’t believe how (relatively) easy that was to follow, even for a beginner. I’m trying to learn piano and my tutor has tried to explain and implement them but i still had no clue, I instantly saw the connections in. This video……….genius man 👍✌
Hello from Germany Brian. You are a genius music teacher man, you are opening up the black box of music language and setting free musicians to be song writers all over the world. You seem determined to make music theory possible for everyone. Excellent
This is the best explanation of how the circle of fifths can be used for guitar, getting it inked on my arm is tempting but I might try having it printed in front of me for a while before I commit.
I don't play guitar but this video was in my feed. Thank goodness I clicked on it. This is a jaw dropper... I've been searching for an explanation like this all of my life💯 Thank you so much
Mr. Brian, this is super simple to understand explained like this. Like Einstein said, “if you can’t explain it simple you don’t dominate the material”. You are a great teacher at this 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I find your channel to have some of the best no-BS tutorials on YT. Why is it that on YT plenty of channels will explain enharmonic keys but I haven't seen a single video say that all notes have enharmonic equivalents, especially: B# = C, B = Cb, E# = F, and E = Fb? When spelling out the major scales in B/Cb, F#/Gb, and C#/Db, just wait until they hear that they're getting 6 scales for the price of 3. Thanks again for your channel.
You , to me, outshine the pros, which you are, in explaining the circle of fifths in a most comprehensive, clear, and beneficial manner. I have waited and searched for an explanation such as yours. Thank you so much.
Wow. This was probably the most illuminating video on the circle of fifths I've ever seen. Not just theoretical, but from a creative aspect as well. Super useful!
@zombieguitar I noticed a slightly different pattern emerge for the sharp notes in a key... It seems to be any sharp notes in the diatonic chords plus the first note in clockwise direction in the minors row. Really appreciate your work here, dude. Imo, you're the most relatable and concise theory teacher on youtube. Thanks, man!
Absolutely fantastic explanation of the Circle of Fifths. You have done a wonderful job of explaining it to me and so many others. The Circle of Fifths is a revelation to me! It is certainly an invaluable aid to understanding and your presentation of it is First Class. Thank you so much 😊👍
I mean this with all due respect… but this guy literally takes this concept and makes people like me who don’t have the time to learn the lingo / ins and outs and completely explains it like I’m a 10 year old (again in a good way), amazing teaching
Awesome content, watched this video over an hour and a half while practicing piano - it helped me gain a much better understanding of how useful the circle of fifths is
This is one of the most amazing videos I have ever seen on RUclips!!! I will be watching this video over and over and over again until I have it down pat! Thank you sooooo much for putting this together! Liked and subscribed.
Already 10 videos watched in a row, finally someone that doesn't try to sell a bundle every 5 minutes. Thank you very much Brian for your knowledge and to be willing to inform others, cheers.
Great job explaining all that stuff. At the end I got a little confused there was just too much information but now I have a great idea about the circle of fifth and come back whenever I need to. Thanks a lot for all the effort.
I agree the most clear and concise music theory lesson I have ever watched or heard, and I should add comprehensive, I can't believe how much he covered in such a short period of time + modes too, which I had no clue about, amazing , many thanks!😊
Awesome instructional video! I’m downloading this video and going back to it over and over to study. Already got more ah-hah’s just on a once through viewing.
I've seen literally (not literally) every guitar video in YT Brian is my favorite teacher! I wish I could afford private lessons with him. Thanks for all you do Brian!
I've been playing for a while and really never looked at the circle. I visualize it on the fretboard but you showed a lot more things that can be found. Great lesson brother!
Thank you very much Brian! This is the best instructional video with regards to theory I have ever seen ….considering it’s all compressed in about 30min. There’s so much info it will keep me busy for a looong time … thanks again
Fantastic video, this helped me understand the circle of fifths better than anything else I've come across in many years of playing guitar. You are an amazing teacher!
Thanks for the upload Brian , I love your theory videos and sometimes knowing theory makes me that much more confident with my playing and it’s a crazy feeling. Keep up the good work
Very well done. Best overview lesson on the topic ever. No BS, no arrogance, no “look how cool I am”, no “sponsor” plugs…like we’re used to wasting our time on with YT vids. Just humble authentic concise knowledge transfer. A man among men 🙏. I might buy your site’s lifetime membership just to support you for what you give for free. THANK YOU
Thats it... I'm buying a membership to your lessons! You have such an amazing ability to teach. Taking the time to go over, again and again, the most simple concepts, makes me confident that I'm learning (if that makes sense) Thank you, Brian.
Really cool stuff to know, great explanations, great teaching methods. Thanks a lot for taking time to show the relevance of the circle of fifths, cool 😎 👍 😀 👌 😊
I think I've watched every video you've done regarding the circle of fifths. I find the uses for the COF to be amazing and very helpful. You explain everything about the COF very well. It's what made me subscribe to your channel. Thank you for explaining it so well.
Hey Brian, thanks so much for everything you do! I got the tattoo on my left forearm so I can see it while holding the guitar and still strum. The artist did it in a style called aquarela.
sheer brilliance, every time i watch a "beginner" video i remember something old or learn something new. great teaching, great lesson. cheers brian, love to you and fam from uk land!
I just tried a Thai Green Curry and I am sorry to report that I am now practising the circle of shits. But this video brought me peace whilst on the Johnson, and thank you Bro. I love that Curry but damm.
I'm a complete beginner, and music theory was a pretty complicated and scary thing to me earlier. Having watched your videos, I've actually started to understand the logic. Today I learned first time how "tonal center" works even though this wasn't even the point of the video.
Thanks, Brian. I have learned so much watching your lessons. The use of the circle of fifths has opened a lot of doors for me. Keep up the excellent work!
I know this has probably been said but I have to give you props again. This is the holy grail of circle of 5ths explanations. This is the best I have seen on the internet in the 2 years I have been looking. Excellent job explaining Master Jedi. I am an absolute beginner with guitar but familiar with music. This is what I wanted unlocked. I believed this to be the most useful tool in guitar playing or music period for that matter. Thank you soooo much sir. This is priceless info here.👍
Hey if you like this video, stop by and check out my website - www.ZombieGuitar.com - Enjoy the vid!
Thanks Brian for the complete music organization! Very useful to know directions where you’re coming from and going!
Hey man is Ireland too far to ship a tshirt?
4 years of Berklee in one video. Brian, our man!
Its phenomenal how one man can teach so much content so elegantly and clearly in one no-nonsense video when there are so many others out there who would take 20 videos to cover this and confuse the hell out of you.

💯 agreed
Way too much talk and not enough action

The man who taught me how to play by ear, after years of frustration. Bro I'll never forget you, the best teacher on youtube!
