I am really enjoying your style of teaching. I would like to add another way to use the cycle of fifths for finding notes on the guitar neck. Reverse the cycle and use the flat notes. You get BEAD GCF followed by BEAD G again only now flatted. This pattern goes across the neck and wraps around continuously. Foe example on the 7th fret you get: B on the 6 string, E on the 5 string, A on the 4 string, D on the 3 string, G on the 2 string (after you shift down to the 8th fret because of the warp) then C on the 1 string. Start back on the 6 string 8th fret and repeat the C. F on 5 string, B flat on 4 string, E flat on 3, A flat on 2 string, D flat on 1 string. Slide back to string 6. Repeat D flat. G flat on 5 string, then BEAD on the next four strings always sliding down one fret as you cross from string 3 to 2
Thanks man! I'm an old guy and have been attempting to play guitar for years, but really had no foundation like this with the Circle of Fifths. I'm still confused, but I'll keep watching this and hopefully I will eventually get to be a better player.
I’ve been playing for an embarrassing long time and I NEVER knew about this until just a few years ago and even then I still couldn’t comprehend what I was being shown, my issue is I don’t know the chords or scales and at least how your showing us how the circle written out flat and with each chord you used makes it more understandable, it also grabs my attention easier then when people are throwing letters and scales and numbers with out showing you the work it’s all verbal, with out visualization it’s difficult and this the closest we get to it where it makes sense. THANK YOU!! By the way I’ve been playing since I was 17 in 2005 imagine how dumb I feel or useless when I pick up a guitar!
I have been trying to understand this circle of fifth thing by watching different videos and finally this one did the job for me.. finally the easiest way to understand it thank you Chris!!
I am 53 years old, and have been playing since I was 7. I've played in bands my whole life, and just kind of had my own way of thinking about the layout of the fretboard. I was never given lessons, and just kind of George Lynch'd it. I have watched so many videos, instructional tapes / videos and such, and never could grasp it - until today. Thank you so much, Chris, for making it so simple, where others couldn't. An old dog can learn new tricks!
I recently came across your videos. I listen to many guitar instructors on RUclips and I have to agree with an earlier poster. This is one of the most beneficial videos I watched! Very helpful! Thank you.
Thanks so much for this. I’ve been trying to get triads down for ages but they never really clicked until I saw your drilling triads video using the circle of fifths to actually learn it. I’ve seen so many videos explaining why triads are important and how to use them, but nothing that actually helped me remember them and be able to recall them until I saw that video. The genius is that I can see how this works for just about every new thing I learn. I guess everybody has a different way that they learn best but this really works for me.
Concise, accurate, fulfilling, deep, thoughtful, considerate & well planned. As a retired electrical instructor for many many years, and blues, guitarist; it is really refreshing to see a instructor dedicated to student learning, while ending this lesson with an assignment, A++ in my book… Additionally Chris has a clear, articulated speaking voice. Thank you Chris, I’ll be watching out for more lessons.
I haven't seen all the guitar teachers on RUclips, but I have yet to find anyone better than Chris at applying theory to the fretboard in such a practical, helpful way.
Thank YOU SOOO MUCH!!! I'm self taught on the piano but the guitar was driving me nuts ..Your video has gone really far in making the guitar easier to understand.. I get a lot out of all your videos but this one and the one on why the pentatonic works so well over modes really KNOCK it out of the park!!! Thanks so much again!!!!
Great lesson. One thing I learned from the major scale. If you play an open C chord, you have no # or flats. When you count 5 to G, play a open G chord and you have 1#. As you progress through the circle of 5ths, to F#, you have learned all 7 shapes of the major scale. You can then move them from across the open strings to up the fretboard. I figured that out by stringing a few lessons together and man, that was gold.
I've been playing guitar 35 years on and off and am still low intermediate. But lately I've decided to learn the notes of the guitar for some reason. I like this lesson because it helps delve into the circle of fifths and also contributes to knowing the notes - especially the exercise of knowing them all on one string. Thanks for the great lesson!
I know that this is an old video, but it has helped me to understand how the circle of 5ths relates to the fretboard. Bit by bit, the pieces of the puzzle are falling into place, helping me to find my way around on the fretboard. I still have to run through the thought process, so it's not ingrained yet, but now I feel less intimidated than when I think about learning to find all the notes. So, thanks, Chris!
One thing I use circle of 5ths for is finding's the relative major or minor to a key. eg G major is Eminor. the outer circle is major, the inner circle is relative minor (6th).Be great to see some more videos on Circle of fifths. Nice Video Chris
Very cool lesson! Lots of cool uses. Oh, and not to embarrass you but Jimi didn't write "Hey Joe" but his version is the most famous! Boudleaux Bryant wrote the original version and recorded by Carl Smith for Columbia 19 May 1953. It spent 8 wks at #1 on the US Country Chart. Still an excellent video! 👌
I really like your way of teaching and every lesson you give is awsome. Still there is one tiny mistake in this video that can´t remain untouched. This may come as a shocker but the song ´Hey Joe´ was not written by Jimi Hendrix as most people think but by a guy called Billy Roberts in the early 60ies. Jimi is an absolute hero of mine and for almoust all other guitarplayers out there and deservedly so and his cover of ´Hey Joe´ is superior to the original as you would expect it to be but credits go to Billy Roberts for throwing that great chordprogression into the world of Rock (i think he didn´t start on a C though)...
I also knew that Hendrix's version is a cover, since I have a record of the Byrds version, which was released before Hendrix. I really enjoyed your tutorial. I am already pretty much familiar with the concept of circle of fifths, but til today didn't know it had a name.
This is what I’m talking about! You took something so complex, and made it easy for my 7year old and I to understand. This is why I joined your patreon Paige!
I enjoyed this. I've been working to memorize the circle of fifths for awhile now, seeing it's value in my goal to understand some theory, but not really understanding how to apply it to the guitar. Your video was helpful. I have a circle of fifths wristwatch I wear and a circle of fifths screensaver on my phone to engrain it in my mind. If it's 7:00 I'm thinking Db in the AM and Bbmin in the PM. Only 2 weeks ago I saw a video waking me up to the idea that the guitar is tuned primarily in forths. I look forward to 102 and beyond... Thanks!
Little late bud MAN you explained me this topic so easy and perfect, I am 57 and did not understand it till now, my big thank you🙏🙏🙏, btw your english and speach speed are so understandable, you are a perfect teacher thnx and greetings from🇨🇿🙏🥃😂
Wow this lesson was outstanding! Finally someone explains the circle of fifths in a way that I can completely understand! Even more impressive is showing how to apply it and also how to use it to further to develop my knowledge of the fretboard! Amazing! That said, very rarely do I find guitar instructors online who can explain things this clearly while also proving all the important information needed to completely understand what’s being taught. That said, thank you and again outstanding lesson! 😎🎸🎶💯👍
Thanks again, Chris. Another great and applicable fundamental lesson. Your "guitar-side" manner is fantastic and so approachable. Best regards, Brent W.
I cannot thank you enough for your ability to explain such a complex subject. Years ago I was practically scolded by a fellow musician in reference to the circle of fifths. He made me feel like a real idiot. Now that I’m 72 years old I have become enlightened. Thank you so very much.
Hey Chris, I got to know about your channel from Marty Music. This video is really amazing. Please continue to make such videos related to theory, it helps me a lot to get a in depth understanding.
Thank you for this video I've been playing around for years with my guitar absolutely love doing so never could afford lessons as a child and as a adult it's been a back burner kinda thing bj very helpful Thank you 🤓👍
Hey Chris, I've been teaching for 30 years (biology at middle and high school levels). You've got great communication skills. I've got so much to think about now. Thank you!
Thanks so much, this really map things out for me in the simplest terms on a guitar. Really good and now I can play the circle of fifths easier then ever before. Now I can really go deeper into it to create cool and melodic rhythms that sound just awesome. Don't know why people don't just give you good practical lessons that make sense of it all. Cheers!
Thanks for the tips, Chris! I'll start using it right away! I've gotten to where I keep a "Circle of fifths" graphic handy on my phone to refer to, but now that I've learned it on my guitar, I won't need my phone! Ultimately, it's much more useful to know on my guitar. (As you know!) 👌👍
I’ve watched a couple circle of fifths videos before and I understood the 1-4-5 and all that but I never truly understood where this circle of fifths came for. Only today did I truly understand it. Thank you so much for putting your time into explaining this. Same thing does with the major scale video another great video. Can’t say thank you enough! I will be watching all your videos and signing up to get notifications of your videos. Thank you! 🤘❤️
Best circle of fifths explanation I’ve seen. I had a good chunk of it understood already, but I NEVER thought about writing it down down like you had it at the bottom of the screen. That makes it so much easier and less of a nightmare to take in. So yea, I had to throw that down on a piece of paper and I’m gonna mess around with it and see what I can do. I can write the relative minors below too. So cool.
I’ve seen good explanations of the circle of fifths, but your presentation shows a simple way it maps to the fretboard, and how to practice it. Very nice! Thank you!
Chris! Thank you once again for another great video. Every day I write dow the circle of 5ths to memorize it on my mind. Apply the theory to the fretboard is the challenge. This video helped me out how to connect patrons using the circle too. I tried the chords in 5th progression from Hey Joe, it was a great discovery! More than that, I just realized that the phrase in Hey Joe came out linking patrons C to G.
THIS!!! IS IT!!! You have given us the key(s) to unlock the Kingdom!!! I mean really!!!.... If you can take a chord and play it in every key around the circle, then why not learn a favorite song!! in every key through the circle? or a riff? or a solo by a favorite Artist!! THAT!! is the key to becoming a Master of all that lies on the fretboard!!! IT'S RIGHT THERE!!!! Your Lessons and the way you show us! IS THE WAY TO THE LIGHT!!! There is a God!... His name is Chris Sherland. Thank You.
These are the comments that make my day, my week, my month. Thanks Tone -Glide and I’m so glad what I’m doing is really driving progress for you and others here. Thanks for being here!
@@curiousguitarist No,... thank you!...All Kidding aside Chris, Your lessons have helped tremendously in my journey of some 45 years of playing! I studied theory years back with a teacher who was taught by the late Link Chamberland. although they helped me discover theory and the workings of keys, the teaching didn't always click for me. I learned my Major scales by running them through the circle of fifths...Which I discovered on my own. It was eye opening to say the least. But still, I wanted the bigger picture to make it click. Your the first teacher I have come across that not only has Master Knowledge but! a unique gift of delivering a lesson that really sinks in for the student. I'm not trying to sugar coat this but reading the other comments on here you have impacted many of us with great insight and knowledge. I, or more importantly, all of us here that watch your channel are really the blessed ones to have access to your un-selfish act of sharing something that really has a value you cant some up in dollars. I think I can speak for all who are here.... Thank you.
Great stuff. Why did I not realize this? A super useful thing to know is that your relative minor is always 3 strings down for the E string and 3 strings down one to the right (because of the tuning) from your A and D strings. So if you have a note on any of the top 3 you can find the relative minor counting down. This also means you have all of the circle of 5 except B on an open fret if you just hold down the low b and e strings on first fret.
Dude Ive been a bass player for 15 years and I've been taking a jab at the circle of hell... I mean fifths forever now and the concept was just not getting through to me. Once you used patterns and explained how to use them is when it all clicked. Ty my man
Again another great lesson. Your triad lesson put me on to using the circle of 5ths and it has really opened up my practice & my confidence. Thanks you.
At 4:07 you did what I did to learn the 135 notes for a chord and the 145 chord progression by looking at my left fretting hand. For example G note is thumb, birdie finger is the third (B), and little finger is fifth(D). Course you gotta remember to sharp 3rds in keys of D,E,A and 3rd and 5th in B! I live in Costa Rica and the notes A-B-C-D-E-F-G are pronounced La-Si-Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol. Sharps are sostenidos and flats are bemol.
I never realised how much I naturaly use the circle of fifths. I use it to move chords and scales and it is very great thing in any musicians Arsenal once they can wrap their head around it. Thank you for a great video!
I enjoyed this very much!! I came across ( I think I created it myself) another method of learning the circle of 5ths using "cowboy" chords. Start with the F chord, then C, G, D A and finally E. You can keep on going using the Bar chords, B, F#, C# etc. What is also unique about my method is you can find the 6 major and minor chords of any key (and the relative minors/majors of the chords) if you know all the notes on the B String. Example: C on the B string will give you F as the IV chord and GV as the , and Am as the V1, Dm as the II and Em as the III chord.
The action of playing a scale or a riff across every position of the Circles of 5ths was foreign to me. And I wasn't convinced about its value. Until I did it. I'm not sure what the parallel is, but it's like looking at the same subject through different lenses or watching your favorite movie over and over. When you do, you always see different and new things. Well, playing a scale, or anything, around the Circle of 5ths is the same thing. You hear, see and feel different things. And its made me a better player for it. Thanks for exposing this great concept Chris. Looking forward to the Circle of 5ths 102 and 103. Maybe even "AP" Circle of 5ths!
Serendipitous video Chris...was just asking my guitar teacher about this very idea recently :-) Thanks for the excellent instruction and high value theoretical content on your channel. You've accelerated my playing tremendously.
Well done helping me see the circle of fifths mapped on the fretboard. Before this video I understood the circle but had a hard time translating that knowledge practically to the guitar! Thanks Chris!!
The circle of fifths is like the "answer is 42" from the hitchikers guide to the galaxy! It recently occurred to me I could figure out the 145 chords in a standard blues progression stepping clockwise and anticlockwise. Thanks for your wonderful lessons.
Your a very good teacher. I thought I knew the circle, but I didn’t know squat! You made me understand the how important it can be. I have some practicing to do! Thank you!
You explain it so easily! 😲 I would like to see a 4ths chord progression explained by you. Say, a song like Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues". I find it so hard to explain when people/friends need and explanation about music theory. I think I'll just recommend your channel instead of trying to explain it and probably failing. Teaching is not my strongest suit. 😢 Thanks so much for your invaluable contribution to the music community.
What a great comment, thank you! I can do a video on that for sure...my take would be based on the fact that it's still the same information, just going around in the other direction. Great idea Maria, thank you! Still Got The Blues is really just ii, V, I, IV, vii, III (maj, this is a subdominant), vi in the Key of C. But that A minor tonality allows us to sit in the Aeolian mode really comfortably, and that subdominant simply adds a "push" allowing that Aeolian "one chord" to sound even more like home.
Yes, also what some new musicians seem to find confusing is the fact that the jump from F to B is not a perfect forth but an augmented forth, and why the chord over that interval comes to be a diminished 5th? How some chords are major and some other minor, and some are major 7th or minor 7th? I mean, I know all that stuff but I find it so hard to teach. I can't find the right words nor the right sequence of information to give at a given time. 🙃 I'm sure you'll explain it really easy. That's your gift. 😇 Looking forward to that video. God bless you. ❤ PD.- I meant fourth (4th) not forth. Sorry.
Excellent lesson on circle of 5ths!! I've heard it explained a few times but never actually seen it demonstrated on guitar and that's what I needed to really start to understand it!! I might just learn to play well after all now that I have you to learn from.

Hii 👩 " circle-of-fifths " I've seen that chart many many times and I never fully understood it, you just revealed something to me a glimpse of what it is, thanks 😊 I am 1 step closer to understanding this theory, I'm gonna have to watch this video a few times and let this theory kinda sink in as it were, isnt that typical, something is so simple that it's actually complicated because of the conditioning we receive, I have found this to be so true, something will dawn on me and come to find out, what I had an extremely hard time understanding was actually extremely simple, but I was looking at it the wrong way and that's why it seemed very difficult, unbelievable! 😀 the difference between knowledge and wisdom, thank you 👩 from: Scranton, Pennsylvania

Foe example on the 7th fret you get:
B on the 6 string, E on the 5 string, A on the 4 string, D on the 3 string, G on the 2 string (after you shift down to the 8th fret because of the warp) then C on the 1 string. Start back on the 6 string 8th fret and repeat the C. F on 5 string, B flat on 4 string, E flat on 3, A flat on 2 string, D flat on 1 string. Slide back to string 6. Repeat D flat. G flat on 5 string, then BEAD on the next four strings always sliding down one fret as you cross from string 3 to 2
Fantastic context! Thank you

I have, and still do, feel that same way. I'm so glad this video was helpful for you!
I have been trying to understand this circle of fifth thing by watching different videos and finally this one did the job for me.. finally the easiest way to understand it thank you Chris!!
Glad it helped, Ulysse! That's so great to hear. Thanks for being here.
That is the best comment I've read in a long time T F! Thank you! I'm glad you're here!
I recently came across your videos. I listen to many guitar instructors on RUclips and I have to agree with an earlier poster. This is one of the most beneficial videos I watched! Very helpful!
Thank you.
Thanks so much for posting this comment, it means a lot to me and I'm glad you're here.
Honestly this is prob one of most useful vids on the circle i’ve found, great video.
Ahhh! SO glad to hear that, Jonas! Thanks
That’s great to hear! Welcome aboard!
Thanks Willabe! Great to have you here!
I haven't seen all the guitar teachers on RUclips, but I have yet to find anyone better than Chris at applying theory to the fretboard in such a practical, helpful way.
Wow, thanks a ton, Phil. That means a lot to me.
Super interesting lesson, I love finding out about these patterns. Then seeing it all unfold on "Hey Joe" - wow! Thanks again, Chris!!
You bet Joyce!
You're welcome, Calvin!
Finally, now I can get started on mapping out the fretboard in a way that makes more sense than just relentless pounding on "string+fret=note" 🦍
YES! That's it, Murray!
That's so cool! 🤯
You are so welcome! I hope you find rest of the channel insightful as well!
best application of the circle to the guitar I've seen. thank you!
Glad you liked it, RRocr! Thanks!
You are SO welcome, Lee. Keep me posted and let me know if you get stuck!
One thing I use circle of 5ths for is finding's the relative major or minor to a key. eg G major is Eminor. the outer circle is major, the inner circle is relative minor (6th).Be great to see some more videos on Circle of fifths. Nice Video Chris
Great lesson and great looking Les Paul!✌️😎🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵
Thanks Marion! Glad you’re here.
A few other have already pointed it out, so I can’t get any more embarrassed 😳
I’m so glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks, Thomas, so much for calling this out. And thanks for being here!
I also knew that Hendrix's version is a cover, since I have a record of the Byrds version, which was released before Hendrix.
I really enjoyed your tutorial. I am already pretty much familiar with the concept of circle of fifths, but til today didn't know it had a name.
"Okay, you're a Martian..." Im now hooked. I feel this. Keep talking.
Hahah! Welcome to the channel!
This is what I’m talking about! You took something so complex, and made it easy for my 7year old and I to understand. This is why I joined your patreon Paige!
Thanks so much for your support IZ Lama, glad you're here!
Diito! Great explanations!
Chris, you’re a terrific teacher. Very engaging, informative and a complete grasp of the subject. Very motivating. Many thanks!
Glad it was helpful, Craig, and thanks for the complement!
What an excellent lesson, Chris! Thank you!
You are so welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks!
Thanks John! I'm writing 102 now, should be a couple of weeks out.
Without doubt, the most useful COF video I’ve ever seen!
So glad it was helpful, Alex!
Little late bud MAN you explained me this topic so easy and perfect, I am 57 and did not understand it till now, my big thank you🙏🙏🙏, btw your english and speach speed are so understandable, you are a perfect teacher thnx and greetings from🇨🇿🙏🥃😂
@@kulishekkulda3785 ha! So glad you enjoyed this one!!
You are so welcome jrvisions, thank you for the views and comments!
Ah sorry but you can’t just change all the flat keys into sharp keys, A#, D# and G# only exist in theory because they contain double sharps
Thanks again, Chris. Another great and applicable fundamental lesson. Your "guitar-side" manner is fantastic and so approachable. Best regards, Brent W.
My pleasure, Brent. Thanks for being here.
First time i watched a lesson and never felt compelled to skip ahead ... best explanation of a confusing subject ... thank you
Wow, thanks Zev! Glad you found this one.
I cannot thank you enough for your ability to explain such a complex subject. Years ago I was practically scolded by a fellow musician in reference to the circle of fifths. He made me feel like a real idiot. Now that I’m 72 years old I have become enlightened. Thank you so very much.
The circle of fifths is an infinite amount of knowledge, thanks for sharing your hard work, I play guitar also ❤
@@MichaelTrentColvin you are welcome! Glad you’re here, and yes, I agree, the circle never stops giving…amazing!
Hey Chris,
I got to know about your channel from Marty Music. This video is really amazing. Please continue to make such videos related to theory, it helps me a lot to get a in depth understanding.
More on the way Himon!!
Thank you for this video I've been playing around for years with my guitar absolutely love doing so never could afford lessons as a child and as a adult it's been a back burner kinda thing bj very helpful Thank you 🤓👍
So glad you found this one Albert! Happy you’re here
Hey Chris, I've been teaching for 30 years (biology at middle and high school levels). You've got great communication skills. I've got so much to think about now. Thank you!
Wow, thank you, Mikey. That means a lot to me.
Your explanation is a great tool for any teacher. Thank you!
Hey Joe was written by Boudleaux Bryant. But Jimi did a great version
Indeed, thanks for that context Prog...I appreciate it!
Cheers!
So glad this has been helpful, Nick.
Brilliant Chris. I learned more about the circle of 5ths in this lessons than months of others.
That's great to hear Bob!
(As you know!) 👌👍
Right? On the fretboard or why bother?
I’ve watched a couple circle of fifths videos before and I understood the 1-4-5 and all that but I never truly understood where this circle of fifths came for. Only today did I truly understand it. Thank you so much for putting your time into explaining this. Same thing does with the major scale video another great video. Can’t say thank you enough! I will be watching all your videos and signing up to get notifications of your videos. Thank you! 🤘❤️
Glad it was helpful, thanks for the sub and bell! I appreciate it!
So cool.
Thanks Mark, glad this was helpful.
I’ve seen good explanations of the circle of fifths, but your presentation shows a simple way it maps to the fretboard, and how to practice it. Very nice! Thank you!
That's exactly what I was shooting for Larry, glad to hear it worked out. Thanks for the view and comment.
Perfect Luis!
The is was truly awesome for me.. I’m trying to learn the basics and some basic theory so this helped tremendously.. very well explained!
Phil
@@philhoward3293 so glad!
I’ll just go ahead and hit like before I watch this 👍🏼
John, thanks so much, I appreciate that.
I was going to comment about going backwards for circle of fourths, but watching the whole video and you covered it. Thanks for fresh insight
THIS!!!
Thank you.
Just started playing the guitar again and your lessons really make it so motivating! Keep going and thank you Chris.
You bet, Mina!
Wow, this is the first time I've ever even begun to understand this. Thank you!
You bet, Scott!
Dude Ive been a bass player for 15 years and I've been taking a jab at the circle of hell... I mean fifths forever now and the concept was just not getting through to me. Once you used patterns and explained how to use them is when it all clicked. Ty my man
I'm so glad this was helpful, Adam. You are welcome.
Again another great lesson. Your triad lesson put me on to using the circle of 5ths and it has really opened up my practice & my confidence. Thanks you.
You bet John! Thanks for your support!
Great lesson. I’m looking forward to more on this subject . Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it, more on the way!
Great context Ed, thanks for the comment!
I never realised how much I naturaly use the circle of fifths. I use it to move chords and scales and it is very great thing in any musicians Arsenal once they can wrap their head around it. Thank you for a great video!
Thanks Yugi-JD, great context and comment.
Great video. Seriously. Very clearly laid out, good examples, great pace. Thank you. Subbed!!
Wow, thanks, Mike. I appreciate the sub and I'm glad you're here.
Exactly what I needed. Timing couldn’t have been better. Looking forward to 102
I will definitely do a follow up to this one
I guess I was just borrowing that information. Thanks for giving me the pink slip. Very solid lesson. Thanks Chris
hahah! Thanks for the views and comment Franco, good to have you here.
Good 101 lesson lesson Chris, thank you. Helped drill down on "WHY" the degree values Perfect 4th & Perfect 5th 👍🏾👍🏼❗
Nice!! Two birds with one video!
Wow, that was eye-opening. I'm now looking forward to trying this out. Thanks Chris.
Any time, James! Glad you're here.
Fantastic context Watts! Thanks!
An excellent, unusual treatment of the circle of fifths. Will dig into this, striving to see the neck as not just a bunch of notes (which I do now).
CoFAP 102-110 coming up!
It is amazing how subtly taking new Info around the circle cements it into your hands, eyes and ears.
Serendipitous video Chris...was just asking my guitar teacher about this very idea recently :-) Thanks for the excellent instruction and high value theoretical content on your channel. You've accelerated my playing tremendously.
Hmmm...hopefully he's giving you good advice :D
Brilliant! Explained so well. Thank you. I definitely look forward to watching more of your videos
So glad you're here!
Hey Chris. Followed you from Marty. ANOTHER great lesson. Some review, some to make me go deeper.
Thanks. I'm glad you're here, John.
Well done helping me see the circle of fifths mapped on the fretboard. Before this video I understood the circle but had a hard time translating that knowledge practically to the guitar! Thanks Chris!!
You bet Patrick!
This helped me understand exactly what it is and more importantly how to use it. Thank you brother
You are so welcome, Nathan! Glad to have you on the channel!
The circle of fifths is like the "answer is 42" from the hitchikers guide to the galaxy! It recently occurred to me I could figure out the 145 chords in a standard blues progression stepping clockwise and anticlockwise. Thanks for your wonderful lessons.
Wow! See what I mean! It's impact on chord progressions and they way we write (and HEAR) music is un-ending!
Thanks Vivek, GREAT context!
Your a very good teacher. I thought I knew the circle, but I didn’t know squat! You made me understand the how important it can be. I have some practicing to do! Thank you!
You are so welcome, Jason! Glad you're here!
You explain it so easily! 😲
I would like to see a 4ths chord progression explained by you. Say, a song like Gary Moore's "Still Got The Blues".
I find it so hard to explain when people/friends need and explanation about music theory.
I think I'll just recommend your channel instead of trying to explain it and probably failing.
Teaching is not my strongest suit. 😢
Thanks so much for your invaluable contribution to the music community.
I'm sure you'll explain it really easy. That's your gift. 😇
Looking forward to that video.
God bless you. ❤
PD.- I meant fourth (4th) not forth. Sorry.
Absolutely awesome. Thank you for sharing your video 💙👍
You are so welcome, Julio! Thanks for visiting the channel.
Excellent lesson on circle of 5ths!! I've heard it explained a few times but never actually seen it demonstrated on guitar and that's what I needed to really start to understand it!! I might just learn to play well after all now that I have you to learn from.
Glad it was helpful, Ray, and I'm glad you found the channel!
Award for BEST circle of fifths for guitar video belongs here. I'm officially nominating you. (As I did Scott Paul Johnson for BEST CAGED system video). Good luck ;) and thanks for the amazing video
Wow, thanks! If you're the only voter, then I can assume I'm not only nominated, but also the winner!?!?!?!
Thanks, Ted! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!
Great information on the ⭕️ 5. Beautiful Les Paul btw 👍
Minor 9s are my new favorite chord that you just showed me. A little difficult for me at first but i love the sound of that chord!
Yeah, me too. Have you found minor 11 yet? Really beautiful.
Chris, I recall you teaching the E/A a few months ago. It's making more sense to me this time around. I'm thinking you showed; 6.05 barre chords on the similar vid. I, the first of May " Got " the barre chord patterns. Thanks Prof-from the slow class. The bird and frog drawing= never give up!
RANDOG, you're so welcome, thanks for being here and sharing your guitar journey with us!
Thanks so much for this comment Cindarella1100. I really appreciate it and I'm so glad it got you closer to this. You're on the way!
Thank you Chris .... That was an excellent description of the Circle of Fifths. Keep up the great work.
You are welcome Bernice!
Wow! This is fantastic. Makes the concept extremely easy to understand. Thanks Chris! I really love your videos.
You bet, Rick. I’m glad you found the channel and are getting something from it!
