This is one of your best lessons. I started learning this a while back and wondered off to other things. Came back and finished learning what is a tremendous little piece and a lesson packed with lightbulbs and solid licks Thank you!
I should know better than to doubt you Brian. From the title i thought "Great, a reiteration of the CAGED but in minor this time. Boring." Of course you made it an awesome standalone lesson. Well done. I think the more we follow your lessons, the better we get, and that's a good thing. For me, and maybe others, the "getting better" is secondary; I think getting more enjoyment out of playing is a greater service you provide. Also there something cool about listening to you play the piece and then I think "Well, I can't play that." And then I find, just about every time, that I can. That shit is priceless.
I see so meny videos but one caught my eye. The camera was looking at the guitar from the players stand point. Not from in front of the guitar. So much clearer from the watchers to see a better point of view. Hopefully someone reads this and gives in a try. Thanks for your time, keep the great video's coming.
I always assumed that the minor chords worked the same way as the major chords in CAGED (as far as Em, Am, Dm). However, that's a nice little Blues tune you played at the beginning! It's worth it to me to learn, just to play it for practice. 👌
love going back to these lessons just to reinforce what I know the jam track is brilliant, what can we say about AM and Brian that has not been said before brilliant instructor
Another excellent video Brian. I have watched lots of your videos lately and your teaching style is excellent. I am getting very tempted to become a premium member after watching the last few videos.
The way I look at it, once you know the 6 and 5 string notes you know the whole fretboard. The octave note (same name note) on the 4th string is 2 frets up from the note on the 6th string. For the 3rd string it's 2 frets up from the note on the 5th string. The 2nd (B) string notes are 2 steps down (away from guitar body) from octave notes on the 5th string. No need to memorize B, D, or G strings.
From Croatia: Great, thank you! Get some advice on how to organize your learning content. It is more important to see the detail of the fingers on the neck of the guitar ("close-up") than your face, glasses, T-shirt, ..... add to the corner a graphic representation of the chord and it will be perfect. Thank you.
"Nice lesson coz right now know also minor chord shapes especial when the root is within B string. But gotta put much effort on understand the 5 positions of minor pentatonic b'coz this will allow me to play different licks within frey board Big up Active melody..
Thank God someone else regards that as form 3. Apparently, there are different teachings re which form is which. This lesson completely confused me for months as I was taught different numbers to each pentatonic shape that Brian teaches.
Active Melody is a great informative lesson program or video I am verse in music theory. It applies the same but a piano to the harpsichord to the guitar theory is the same it is very confusing anyone who has not had Siri and Jesus made money from the masses not from the field and I say the masses do not understand. It just confuses them because they try to hang on your every word trust me that's how I did the first time I saw your videos and it was hard for me to even keep up okay and especially the blues you know you can let him know I'm not giving you permission here but I would let them know they usually comes from the 6th of the major and leave it at that you start the same thing out on the 6th and then you got your Bluetooth note and that's where I would leave it and then just show them the rest show him the things man I tell you what man you have a million people beating your door down love you babe Rico
The lesson starts at 16:30
for those who don't need the background info on the CAGED system.
This teacher speaks my language. Great lesson

Hi Brian, I've never seen you cram so much information in one sitting or playing but great caged information that sticks.
I am a ukulele player but I find your lessons verry adaptable, particularly in relation to my Baritone ukulele. Thank you so much.
New to your channel. I like your approach to alternative/ inversion chords. Making CAGED fun. Thanks.

I'm always amazed at how well you can play knowing only a few scales. I know many scales and still can't play.
Lol same
Much big cool what a teacher

van er that’s a really smart way of looking at it - and the 1st string is obviously the same as the 6th

Great lesson,thx.
I hear Gary Moore in that opening performance
He was awesome
Excellent. I was hoping you were gonna do this.
Is that another new guitar?
1111MJR nah, I’ve had that one for a while
"Nice lesson coz right now know also minor chord shapes especial when the root is within B string. But gotta put much effort on understand the 5 positions of minor pentatonic b'coz this will allow me to play different licks within frey board
Big up Active melody..
Active . Did you remove the pickgard from the Gibson Les Paul are it came with out one . It looks good . TroyFrost / Troyster .
It came with one - but it's still in the case, I didn't bother putting it on - thought it looked cool without.
Ok this just hit me. The C-A-G-E-D are aso the 5 notes of the major pentatonic scale. Is there a cooerelation there?
If it doesn't mess up the sound I'm going to take my pickgard off & put the screws in the Les Paul . TroyFrost / Troyster .
Your awesome my friend😜
can you clarify the finger positions (hard to see) for the B string, ex: g minor on b string.
So why do we put a minor third instead of a root on the D string in the D minor-based shape?
20:07 that's form 3 though right? Great lesson anyway, keep it up!
Thank God someone else regards that as form 3. Apparently, there are different teachings re which form is which. This lesson completely confused me for months as I was taught different numbers to each pentatonic shape that Brian teaches.
Yep, thats how I learned it too. He's in 4 then drops into 3. Some people just look at this as an extension. Maybe that's how Brian sees it.
Drive right down there and turn that way and you'll get there
How much gibson Les Paul guitar price
Yup i stopped at major...not bad only 3 shapes...easy peasy
That was my statement just recalled my statement was relative to the blues

Want traducting fr please
you do favor Eric Clapton
Too much of talking which isn’t necessary
ah but it is my friend.
Hey I came here to learn caged minor chords not some stupid blues licks. To much talking, to much blues, I'm out of here.
You're missing the entire point of the video.

I see only the guy talking with holding guitar here, no tutorial, just explain what he think about useless
Umm... maybe try turning the sound up? You might also try watching the video :)
