About three months ago, I got a surprise email from Powertronic, asking if I would be interested in reviewing their newly-launched piggyback ECU unit for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT650 Twins. The answer, almost immediately, was an affirmative yes.
After all, it is the first aftermarket ECU for the Royal Enfield Twins in the world.
90 days later, I have covered over 2,000 km on the Interceptor 650 with this Powertronic unit, riding it in various conditions - city, highway, rain, off-road and everything else that I could find. So, I believe I would be in a decent position now to share with you my views on this unit and whether you should spend Rs 22,000 on it.
In this video, I run an Interceptor with a Powertronic unit paired with Red Rooster slip-on exhausts and a DNA air filter with a Stage 2 plate (My set up for three months) and compare it directly with a bone stock motorcycle.
I also try and tell you why the piggyback ECU makes more sense over getting a slip-on exhaust system.
If you would be interested in knowing about all technical specs, details of this Powertronic piggyback ECU unit, you can visit their website: powertronicecu.com/product/po...
Let me know in the comments below what you think of the Powertronic ECU unit and whether you agree or disagree with my assessment.
I look forward to a healthy debate in the comments section.Thank you so much for your time.
Have a nice day.
Disclaimer: I did not pay a penny for this review unit and I get to keep it after this review goes online as well, but that has not influenced my opinion in any form. It still stays as unbiased as ever. Авто/Мото
Too expensive for the results given by the ECU.
Cool video.
Thank you.

Now you own the fastest most badass RE Interceptor😄 Amazing
🙏
His interceptor is a step ahead!
@abhinav ecu paired with ss moto pipes, next video?
The best thing about watching your videos is that you know what you are talking about and the amount of knowledge you bring into the video. You explain it in such a way that even a casual watcher will learn something from it. Ii havent seen a single youtuber who have so much knowledge about what is been done towards the performance. Lovely Video once again.
Thanks, brother :)
Loved the entire content n absolutely informative!
Thanks, Laukik :)
Great video! Thanks for all the info & review.
Most welcome.

22-23 L to a kilometre. Oh my my!
scared me too
I'm sure he means 22 km per litre which is 64 mpg (Imperial gallons) or 4.48 litre per 100 km My standard Interceptor constantly gets 3.5 litres per 100km which is 80 mpg or 28 km per litre so there is not much difference. (We use litres per 100 km in Australia)
Yes, of course 😅
Great one Abhinav. Good detailed review and explanation.
Thanks, Terence.
That's a badass beard my G 🙌💯, Great video💯
Also consider that the slip-on exhausts are much, much lighter than the stock ones, which will also improve times. :)
Definitely.
Awesome as always bhaia.
Genuine review and has everything one would have doubt and question about.
Great
Thanks, Aditya :)
@@abhinavbhatt you're welcome bro
Very informative! Thank you very much!!💙

Always great video and information ❤👍
Thanks :)
I have a powertronic ECU on my duke 390 and by making it run the correct Air/Fuel ratio it feels so much more responsive and does not run as hot as it used to.
Does it consume more fuel than before
This is the only valid reason for fitting an upgrade ECU.
Which seats are on the orange interceptor? Looks more comfortable than stock. It'd be helpful if you could let me know.
Those are touring seats provided by RE themselves for a higher rate
Sir!
When you are going to come up with the r15 v3 videos, I think those videos are left incomplete ☺️
So excited and the most awaited videos 😊🥰
Yes, sir. Definitely left that series midway. Will return to it towards the end of the year.
Okay 😊 thank you so much for your revert and good luck
I think to enjoy anything, you need to put your heart into it and that makes you fall in love with it.Just getting a good bike is not enough, you have to make it yours. This bike is not worth 6 lakhs anymore,it must be priceless to Abhinav.
You are a complete gentle man, Abhinav!
Thank you.
Hi Abhinav, really good work with the videos! Can you tell me where you got those fork reflectors for the Interceptor? Thanks!
Hi. I think they are from Ali Express.
Spending 3 lakh on this id prefer to keep it stock.
It's about looking good than going Fast here.
Hahah, my pov. 😅
No problem with that. To each their own. ✌
Yeah bro me too 😅😅
Bike cost almost 3 lakh + 3 lakh for ecu?? I guess you will get better bike for 6 lakh
@@jbasumatary7861 which ECU did you buy for 3 lakhs?!
@@jbasumatary7861 ecu. About 20k ok who said 3lakh for ecu
So i'am goin to reduce 50 k down payment for 2*1 exhaust and ECU for my future interceptor, these were new things to me thanks a lot brother!,
Rethink about the exhaust, all aftermarket exhausts are banned now, regardless of how much noise they make. Even if its a silent one, police will fine you.
Fantastic review abhinav..what I thinks powertronics ECU only makes acceleration crisp at the cost of 22k..rest in your test there is merely a little difference..
If we strictly go by the numbers, there is a significant gain in acceleration but post 100 kmph, which honestly, can only be felt during Sunday morning rides. The biggest factor for me here is the throttle response - the bike feels very, very sharp.
Most waiting for your r15 video🙏
M watching ur 2nd video and love it. I think this doesn’t makes a big difference though but changing exhaust should be enough for my GT. One question which highway is this?😃 I think I will have a ride this weeknd
Hi. These are two different highways. Yamuna Expressway and KMP. Both around Delhi.
I would be more interested to see the tuning process with the software and how you can effect the idle, and running throughout the rpm range rather than top speed.
Great content as always but what caught my attention is that watch, can you please share link to buy it. It is amazing. Thanks
I am looking for the watch too.
After long wait......✌️✌️✌️✌️
Yeah.
Now I'm really sure that the interceptor would be the weapon of choice
thanks for the video and information but holy crap, be safe. You have a lot of faith on the cars around you and the road surface
Fantastic and very informative video.
Thanks, Lalit.
Thanks for the video. My question is, does the Powertronic unit enrich the air/fuel mixture sufficiently to remain in the correct range after installing the free-flow air filter and less restrictive exhaust? As adding these parts will normally result in leaner mixture.
Hi. Yes, the team at Powertronic keeps the AFR in mind while designing the maps.
Hie. M new to your channel. Love the content. also loved it that you let us hear the pure sound of wind and motorcycle without some unnecessary music.
Can you please tell me the location of the highway you're riding on
Hi Nikhil. I am riding on two different highways in this video. The first one is Yamuna Expressway. The second is KMP.
@@abhinavbhatt thanks. Appreciate the quick reply
Hi Abhinav,
Great review on the performance.
The track you tested looks like Hyderabad ORR
Hi Sandeep. Thank you. The roads I tested are on two different peripheries of Delhi.
Hyderabad ORR doesn't allows bikes
great stuff, lovely bikes
Great content. !
Thanks
Desperately waiting for your project interceptor 650 with 17" Wheels, Powertronic ECU, Custom Exhaust, ...
really want to see that beauty in action ....
Hi. I am not very far from the final product. I'll try to do a video on it soon.
Red rooster sounds great
That was dangerous riding. 😲
Good review, well done. That said, a 650 twin should go 0-100 km in 6 sec or less.
I'm sure someone who can launch a bike better will be able to do 0-100 in six.
Trust me I have been using powertronic ecu on my rc 390 for past 5 months city drivability seems pretty good without any jerks, mid range seems pretty aggressive but don't expect a litre class torque on a open road it really disappoints on long stretch just 4-5km/hr top speed is gained approximately 187km/hr and even my stock bike does 183km/hr for an 18k product it's not worth
Thanks a lot for this video.i was having trouble choosing between RRP and ECU. I will definitely go for POWERTRONIC.
Btw, I am facing issues with the stock seat of the interceptor. Is the seat of the GT better for long rides?
What seat is that on the Orange Crush?
The seat on the Orange Crush is a custom seat by a friend. The touring seat is a good option to go for.
... and you did 190 too! unbelievable man
160! great 28.2, never heard of with RE, its time I change my classic 500 to interceptor- thank you bro
Classic 500 has its own charm. You'll miss it for sure.
Hey abhinav.....correct me if I'm wrong but the new ecu will be just chugging petrol like crazy
A very very informative and helpful video.
Please do a video something similar to this on yamaha FZ25..
Regards and thanks
Sujit
Hi. If I get access to that bike, I'll make a video. Cheers
I looked at the installation instructions and decided it's not for mre. Too much happy B.S. involved for such a minimal improvement and it would take me all day to install it. I am just going to get a Powerplug that takes 10 minutes to install and that can be uninstalled in 5 minutes and gives nearly the same benefits.
Installation takes 20 minutes at best.
Don't take other wise but in the city road conditions it doesn't help any more.In the normal riding condition only Power and average is matters and she is not designed for racing any more, specialy low compression ratio, bottom end torque ,air cooling, long gearing ratio & wait doesn't allow her to conquer the race.
If it can be possible to improving the existing ECU tuning then it can economical otherwise Westgate of money.
Hi... Very well presented... Where have you got the Handlebar clock from....
Hi. The clock is from Ali Express. Thank you.
I wouldn't bother with the ECU ,but I'd change the exhaust pipe ,these are good bikes anyway ... regards London UK 🇬🇧
I'd do the same
Hi Abhinav also are there any videos of urs for interceptor tyre upgrades? And also the YSS suspension
Very nice video.. Goood job 👏
Thanks, Lokesh.
Where is your Yamaha r15 v3 project, been waiting since long for updates on that
Hey AB , ve you changed chain sprockets and chain to increase the initial power of the bike?
I like the wider seats on the orange crush. If it is a customized one, looks like it is - can I order them online?
Great, unbiased review. Appreciate.
Bro can u tell me which is this location where u did the test drive.
Thank you, Gautam. I rode it on Yamuna Expressway and then KMP Expressway. Both are near Delhi.
@@abhinavbhatt I though this may have been shot in UK, until I saw the Tuk Tuk.

You’re CRAZY to ride that fast on a rainy, bumpy, public road but thanks for the info.

Gr8 video. Yes it do make sense to install powertronics. All the details were given, however I just wanna know how about if we wanna increase the top speed. Also i wanna ask m confused between ninja 300 and re 650gt. Which one is better to buy as per your experiance?
If you want to increase the top speed, I would say play around with skyrocketing a bit. Although I suspect a Ninja 300 would make more sense for you.
@@abhinavbhatt thanks bro for a quick reply.
Awesome vid as always!! Please review the s&s exhaust on the 650's if possible.
As soon as someone lends me the pipes or their bike with these pipes.
What will you do with more power?
Hi Abhinav will it damage the engine? Or affect the warranty

We all are😂
For people who really want to increase the performance of their RE twins, I suggest checking out, Big bore kits from S&S cycles, expensive but given the results I think it's worth it. IMO.
That S&S package will cost 10 times that of the Powertronic piggyback ECU.
Have you tried the s&s slip on for INT 650? Hope you can do a video on that too. Haven't seen many installing the same
No. I have not. If someone is willing to let me ride their bike with the S&S exhausts, I would love to make a video.
Hey Abhinav, I've been watching your videos from a long time now. I respect your passion for automotives. I had a question, Is this Powertronics ECU still compatible with the new Interceptor (2022)? 🤔
Hi. Yes, should be.
Nope they don't make the ecu or the fuelX systems anymore for the newer interceptors. I think they have not been able to get past the bs 6 ecu. I've been waiting since 2021 Jan . All my communication with the powertronic guys has just been a lead on. With responses being , will be coming real soon. 😂 It's been almost 2 years and it's still not soon enough 😜
@@diaryofawanderingboot4058 it's there, just not publicly accessible. Email them and they will send you a link.
Great video
Thanks
Vary consistent times. 😊
I think these types of mods improve drivability more than performance. Could you please test that aspect in detail.
Yes, the rideability has improved quite a bit. I'll make a follow up video when I can.
Bhai Abhinav... Haven't heard of baby R15.. Feels like waiting since decades.
Towards the end of the year. Right now only focusing on my Interceptor.
Abhinav Bhatt OK sir ji
Is there any way to increase fuel efficiency without messing with the ecu??
Is it easy to unplug everything including the harness when leaving the bike at service centre ?
A mask in front could improve aerodynamics which will help it make more quicker & well as resulting in a top end close to 180+
for the power bump it's not worth the money, but for upgrading to the quick shifter...HELL YEAH
Damn those bumpy concrete roads.
show does it compare with fuelx pro ? which should one buy on what basis?
Hmmm, Interesting choice of location for giving us your presentation... Why? Just curious.. AAaaarghhh...
Nice video Abhinav.. Any information on S and S cycle bore kit for Interceptor in India??
Hi Alok. High Note Performance in Delhi were planning to import them. Please do ask them once.
@@abhinavbhatt Thank you for the information.. ☺️
What about the R15M bro???
Please update info about it bro please!!!!
I'll work on it towards the end of the year.
Hey bro any updates on the V3? we'd love too see some vlogs on it .
Hi. I'll probably make them towards the end of the year.
Hi Abhinav , can you help me with where you got that handle bar watch, looks so charming and old skool. i have my interceptor delivery lined up for next month and would want to have that watch clamped onto my handlebar as well. Thanks a lot already.
Hi. This was bought from AliExpress. Not sure where to get now.
Why ride a bike above 💯 kph ? 100 kph itself is already too much over the legal limit. Ride safe, feel the ride not stress it 🏍
It's all fine, i just want that clock on handlebar, link please!
What were the dyno results for the aew, if you don't mind me asking?
About 1.4 bhp gain.
@@abhinavbhatt thank you for the quick reply.
I will save this video / like.
And it will help me if himalayan 650 launches in upcoming days . Just i will add perfomance kit and may b silencers and will adjust 1 particular mode for offroad conditions with really low and mid engine perfomance. And another for highways some torque at low and mid and a top end performance for highways / touring 🖤.
Does Enfield recommend to use these external boosters? If there is any impact in the engine will Enfield cover the warranty?
Hi. No manufacturer would ideally want you to add anything to their product. This is plug and play so you can easily take it off while heading to the service centre.
Where we can get that clock mod for the RE INT 650 Abhinav.
I'm really searching for a piece that can show me the time
Does it have any positive impact on the efficiency / how will it be affecting longitivity of the of engine
Efficiency might improve slightly in the city map. Don't know about long term effects on the engine.
#Perfect🔥
Amazing video Abhinav, please correct me if I'm wrong. AEW + PIGGY = 3 + 1.5 = 4.5BHP increase in total?
No no. Total 3 bhp gain.

i have been using PT for last 8 months now in ktm rc 200 much better than stock .. earlier i used to do 10500rpm 137kmph and now on same rpm it goes 145 and plus it remaining 1500rpms left as it rev till 12k rpm so i think it will go between 150- 160 as seen on RUclips on ktm 200s 161 on 12rpm and top end is crazy which this bike lacked in stock lacked due to limiters ...all in all its amazing device . period.
Impossible. If you are doing the same revs on the same gearing you cannot possibly be going faster. It doesn't matter how much more power you have added. Same revs, same gearing = same speed.
@@oldbatwit5102 agreed but ktm comes with speed limiter too beside rev limiter so it bypass the speed limiter hence its achievable for eg if look pulsar RS 200 does 146 easily on same 10500 rpm . Summary kTm limits the top speed where as after market stuff removes it ...and im not faking it whats the truth telling in stock condition ktm goes 137 max
First You need K&N with open lid, free flow exhaust with proper map (air fuel mixture, ignition timing)
Second you need slightly taller gearing to get higher top speed.
@@cranky1812 it has 12500 rpm limit
@@karanbundhela3336 that will not help you, at that rpm you need titanium valve springs otherwise with stock springs you will have floating valves. Without correct AFR and ignition timing you not gain anything.
revving the pants of ur bike is always a fun thing to do.
Could you share the link for the seat mod on Orange Crush as well.
There's no link. Details on my Instagram. Seat made by my friend.
Hi bro..nice video with comparison. I have something to ask. Please help me out.
I've a GT 650. I'm planning to go for aew megaphone.
1. Whats the difference between TE 101 , TE 102 and classic short 201? Which one should I take?
2. In TE 101 stainless steel matt polish is showing 16,000 and mild steel chrome is 9000 (though they almost look similar).
Is that the price of one piece or a pair? And why so much difference.?
Hi. The difference between 101 and 102 is just a bit of difference in shape. 201 is a completely different shape, more retro. Go with the one you like the most.
The chrome one is made of mild steel and the matte one is made of stainless steel. Stainless steel doesn't rust and looks better. Zero difference in performance. So go with whichever you feel like spending for.
@@abhinavbhatt the prices are for one piece or a pair?
@@abhinavbhatt like...if i go for 102 stainless steel matt polish ...do i need to get 2 units for 36k 😯
@@adikumar7099 the prices are for a pair.
Abhinav (john) if installing both the slip-ons and the ECU the power would be close to about 51+ something right, and would cost for about 40k,but still a massive boast of top speed say about 180+ could be achieved or some more tweaks needs to be done within. thank you ✊
I think getting to 180 is not that big of a deal. If you increase the rev limit and play a bit with fuelling and sprocketing, it should get there.
@abhinavbhatt Hi man! Wanted your thoughts on the ADV tribe handlebar risers for the interceptor.
