Finally got mine out of jail and got to shoot it over the weekend and man this pistol is an awesome shooter. I was worried about a lot of the things that popular youtubers were saying about the high bore axis, chunky slide, and the sticky reset. I can attest that these are really non issues. I'm only 5' 9" weighing 160 with med/small hands and I was able to hit steel targets ranging ranging in all different sizes at 35 meters and 50 meters like a pro and this is with the stock iron sights. Groups on paper were nice thight groups with my best almost shooting 1 big hole. It's just the best polymer HG next to the Walther PPQ I've fired and I'm a 1911 guy.
Greetings from Alabama! I wondered what made the 'CA' different from my pistol. At first I thought it was just the mags that came with the gun, then you mentioned a magazine safety; I'm glad to hear that it didn't booger up the trigger. Can you change the barrel/slide assembly? I have seen factory black P320/M18 units, AND an M17 upper will drop right on. As for comparison with the Echelon (or other P320s for that matter), two items that I prefer in the P320/M18 are the thumb safety and the loaded chamber indicator. KEEP UP THE FIGHT!
Everything is the same, just an extra part in the Fire Control Group and one on the slide. Yes you can trade out the upper very easily to delete the small button on the slide. but deleting the Mag Disconnect is more difficult. Yes we are fighting hard in CA to get our rights back. Thanks for the comment!
The magazine disconnect is held on by a tiny screw. If the screw becomes loose and the piece falls off it will still work. The safety is the other add on part that if you forget to put back on after a cleaning will not stop it from firing.
I get to pick mine up on the 21st, it's getting a Romeo 1 PRO on top. I'm looking forward to finally having a proper platform to RDS a pistol. The Romeo 1 PRO does have a rear sight cutout, though I don't see myself using it beyond the initial crude boresight.
The civilian versions of the m18 have it so that you can mount the optic right on top of the slide, the military serialized versions are the pistols where you have to take the slide off to mount the red dot.
I really like the M&P 2.0 The Enhanced Trigger is something special. But but guns are excellent. If you want to mod you gun out go with the Sig. If you want a gun to be be great out of the box and never change it, M&P 2.0 is a great choice. And it is much cheaper. Thanks for asking!
I'm going to try this in my local range next. They do have a rental of P320 (it's not the CA legal version but of course it's almost the same thing after calling them yesterday). I hope the P365 XL, P365 X Macro, and P365 .380 all become CA compliant too! 🤩
The SIG P320 coming in a few variants. First, the M18, longer barrel. Then the M18 government contract overruns, comes in a cardboard box with slightly different markings. Finally, the M18 and M18-CA. Virtually identical, just the limited magazines and a more expensive drop test.
The Franklin Armory clone was problematic for CA. Changing it could be illegal under CA law. They are playing in the grey area of the law is never smart in CA.
@@michaelcalderon4401 it’s technically a gray area just like getting a SSE AR pistol then putting a semi auto upper on it. Depending on the situation and the DA, you could land yourself in hot water legally, but now that the p320 is on the roster, no one is going to see it and hassle you. The only reason I could see it even getting brought up is if it’s involved in some sort of crime and they run it and decide they want to make an example of you.
Do any of the incidents that have occured with accidental discharges worry you about owning one of the p320? Or has that problem/issue been resolved by sig? Hoping my next pistol is a p320..
I was worried about the high bore axis especially being a 3.9" barrel. But I was surprised by how smooth and flat shooting it was. I have a full size M&P 9 1.0 and I shoot the M18 100x better than the M&P.
I just got mine in hand and shooting today, I was shooting excellent groups from 20-40 feet, within a 6 inch circle. I have a Glock 19 which I don't shoot much anymore and a Sig P229 which is my EDC and favorite pistol, but this might unseat that one
Hey, man, I get it. But things are changing here in california. The bruin decision is changing a lot of things across the landscape. And our boy garvey is winning in the race.
I am a former California resident. I live in a free state now. I am glad that the sunshine is finally breaking through the darkness. Access to modern, accurate, safer handguns is a constitutional right. Glad you are joining the 21st century!! Enjoy your rights as US citizens. I hope that this trend continues and you can get rid of the rest of unnecessary requirements so that the people can use these tools as a mode of self defense. Now you have to vote in politicians that will go after criminals, not law abiding citizens.
CA doj pulled the micro stamp rule when the roster case went to the 9th circuit court. But Newsome just signed it back into law for January. What a mess.
I get to pick mine up on the 22nd. I didnt go into the gun store wanting to purchase a firearm. I left having bought a firearm. Im excited. Ive been a CZ guy for years but that m18 feels great in the hands.
Just got this gun but need a little help. I just bought a vortex defender and i know it comes with the screws to fit this gun but not sure if it needs a adalter plate to fit . Can any one help?
I don't believe you can take advantage of the modularity design in California. Disabling the safety feature might make the firearm unsafe. it most definitely could be a point of significance in a court situation (maybe from a situation where Lethal self-defense is in question). personally, I would not make significant modifications (like disabling magazine disconnect or removing the safety)
Sig also sells contract overruns of actual USGI M17s and M18s, and it turns out the optic cutout and cover plate are a bit different than the )320/M17-18s.
Politics really do stink... but CA is my favorite state to live in. Beaches, 18 thousand foot mountains, lush farm lands and deserts. Just politically it is horrible. I like the politics in Texas, but I could never live in a flat state that has ice storms, and crazy weather. Thanks for commenting!
Day and night.. These are two very different guns. The 320 is a striker fire, P2022 is hammer fire which is very similar to 226 but with polymer frame. Thanks for watching!

Do all grip modules work with the CA M18? Assuming the magazine disconnect is removed.
I wish I knew more about Sig modules. From what I know yes they work but I'm not sure.
The civilian versions of the m18 have it so that you can mount the optic right on top of the slide, the military serialized versions are the pistols where you have to take the slide off to mount the red dot.
The CA models must have slide remove to add red dot. Two Allen bolts on the bottom side.
Considering buying this as my first gun after shooting it at the range yesterday. A little torn on this one or the m&P 2.0. Which would you suggest?

Awesome!! Glad you like it.
If you leave CA, is the existing grip module upgradeable with the 21rd magazine? Or do you have to buy a completely different model?
The grip modules can be changed same as free state M18. Problem is the Mag Disconnect feature on the fire control module. Thanks for asking
And I thought you just reviewed your Canyon! Look forward to more of this content.
I started this channel on guns, but I love trucks so I figured why not?
Great gun! I got one a few months ago and my wife got the Glock 26.
Considering one of these. I didnt want the franklin armory version with that one shot at that price was very lame. 😂
The Franklin Armory clone was problematic for CA. Changing it could be illegal under CA law. They are playing in the grey area of the law is never smart in CA.
