This video helped me decide half a year ago on what should be my first camera. You succeeded in persuading me and I don't regret that even a bit. So after some intense months of learning photography with the XT-10, I fullheartedly agree that it's great. While I don't have experience with other cameras, I'm definitely enjoying the journey so far. The JPGs really are amazing! Shooting wildlife most of the time, autofocus performance paired with small buffer size is my biggest problem with this camera. But that's not to say it doesn't work, you just have to know its strengths and adapt. Despite the challenge, I've taken dozens of photos I'm really proud of. It's been a joy and I'm excited for every new shoot. So thank you for this video.
Hi! Thank you very much for your feedback. I'm so glad to hear that you're enjoying this great camera, and I'm happy to have played a small part in introducing it to you. This is exactly why I make these videos - to share the joy I experience with photography. Kind regards!
The X-T10 sensor is an X trans 2 sensor which also came on the X-T1 camera. This particular sensor seem to be the most film like of Fuji's sensors. I bought the X-T10 when it first came out in 2015, but kept it in the factory box because I liked the X-T1 so much more. I just gave my new X-T10 to my adult Niece, who loves it. I picked up the 15-45mm lens for it, nice combination.
Hi Ronald! Thank you for your feedback. Yes, the X-T1 and X-T10 share the same sensor and the same image quality. Both are really nice cameras. The 15-45 mm is my favorite travel lens. Kind regards!
Hello Tom, Nice to meet you. I am using X-T10 with manual lenses . I like it very much. I have watched some of your videos. Many camera users are attracted to new products whenever they are released, but you respect the old models and show us examples of your work, which is very kind of you. I am sure you are a great help to those who want to buy a camera. Thank you for your nice examples and your kind videos.😊
I love my X-T10 had it since it came on the market. My only gripe is the black covering peels off, but you can stick it back down with B7000 Mobile Phone Glue. It works well.
hello from japan! i have xt-10 for 3 years and yes its an amazing camera! i use ttartisans 25mm f2.0 manual lenz. results look pretty good. love this camera:)
X-T1, X-T10, X-E1 (X-E2), these are all great, excellent cameras. For videographers and vloggers there are probably better ones, for photographers they are still great.
Very cool review. You could do a whole review on the 16-50 3.5 lens, and the bang for the buck it is. Center sharpness waa considered the best ever for a kit lens. OIS. And toss that on a T-2 and you get crazy fast auto.
Most fuji camera is used to take photos. For a begineer, Jpeg quality is superb and eye catching if posted to social media. The only downside for this paticular Fuji is video capability. Overall, this fuji is still worth to buy even in year 2030
Hi Calvin! This is indeed, true. A bit better video would improve things. But nothing can take the amazing image quality away from this camera. Just like you said I also project that people are going to want to buy this camera in 2030 as well. Cheers!
Nice to see someone else using RT for processing their RAW files. At this point I feel raw processing software is more important as it gives new life to older cameras.
Hi! I think you are absolutely right about the older cameras and raw files. I've also made a RawTherapee tutorial (ruclips.net/video/rxMabBlzGB0/видео.html). Kind regards!
The shutter speed button is not meant as a dual button, you may be able to assign aperture control to it, for a lens without that function on it, such as an aperture ring.
I have a questions, Does XT10 has focus zoom? It is crucial when focus peaking struggle in low contrast situation. Second, I heard the old Fujifilm model cannot peaking during video recording. Is that true? I can't find the concrete answer online. We're talking about the old models like XT10, XE1, XM1, and XA series. I want adapting a numbers of old lenses. I know the Canon M3 can peaking while recording video, but I'd like to try the fujifilm.
Hi! Thank you for asking. Yes, the X-T10 has a focus zoom. Press the center of the rear command dial to zoom in and out. I think generally one could say that focus peaking works during video with the models that have a dedicated video position on mode button on the left (X-T20, X-T30) but not if this is not the case (X-E2, X-T10 etc.). If you want very detailed information you can download camera user guide available online. I hope this helps.
Hi Geo! I feel the same. Fixed lens is fine but it'd be nice to be able to change those fixed lenses. The X-T10 and X-T20 are both great, can't go wrong there. Kind regards!
Hi! Thank you for asking. I think the Fuji X-T10 is in fact one of the best starter cameras to get into photography. It will work very well for family photography. It's a good idea to turn on face recognition - and you're ready to start. Best of luck to you!
Great video, thank you. You have been immensely helpful to me as I get back into photography and look to buy my first digital camera. I've narrowed it down to the X-T10 and X-E2. Would you recommend one over the other? Video and view finder placement is not a consideration and I know that sensor/image quality on both would be superb. Just looking for compact, easy to use and something to (re) learn on. Thanks!
Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words. The two cameras you are considering are both amazing and with the same image quality. You cannot go wrong with either one. If you want tilting screen and classic looks then the X-T10 might be preferred. On the other hand some people prefer the minimalism of the X-E2. My advice is to get the camera with lower shutter count and less scratches. Best of luck to you.
@@tom_photo Thanks so much for your prompt reply and insight. I really appreciate it. I'm drawn to the X-E1 and X-E2, but I'd heard that the functionality, particularly the auto focus of the X-E1 and X-E2, is slow and not always accurate, so I started looking at the newer gen X-T series. Of course this is expected of older cameras, but I'm wondering if it would be too restrictive given my novice skill level and whether it would be worth it to spend the extra $200 for the X-E3 or X-T20/X-T30 for faster and more accurate auto focus, faster speed (i.e. scrolling through menu, etc.) and ease of use. Having tried all these models yourself, is there one model you'd recommend and or steer a beginner away from? Thanks again. Not being able to try any of these models, it's very helpful having channels like yours.
@@AA-rk2ui Hi! Thanks for asking. The older cameras like X-E1 and X-E2 tend to have slower autofocus, indeed. However I have never found this to be limiting. I tend to photograph objects that are not very fast or don't move at all (e.g. landscapes). I should also add that the lens that you're using plays a big part in determining the focusing speed. For example I like to use my X-E2 with the Fuji XF 27 mm for streets (ruclips.net/video/iQG1sbj6Jwo/видео.html) and with this lens the focusing is plenty fast. I like my X-E2 also because it's so small and unnoticeable. The X-T4 or X-T5 would be more capable but they would also be so much larger and for me that's a problem. I don't think that X-E2 and X-T10 have very different focusing speeds. I hope I could help you a bit. Sorry for not responding sooner, I was traveling.
I have xt10 for years now with 35mm f1.4 lens. My issue right now is when I am using the view finder, it shows a blue upside down but it still takes normal photos.
Hi 3250i! Thank you for asking. I did some searching on the web and found that some other people have had that problem, too. Someone recommended this: "Display an image, press the Menu button and on the first menu page there is an option to rotate the image. If this does not solve the problem, try doing a Reset." I hope it helps. Kind regards!
@@tom_photo Yeah I think I explained it too vaguely. Haha the viewfinder is showing blue and upside down. But when i take a photo it is still taking normal photos
@@3250i You may have a problem with the level sensor. This may be faulty. But first I'd recommend two things: a) reset all of your camera settings back to factory settings, b) upgrade camera software to the newest version. Cheers!
Dear TomPhoto, Thanks for your very great video! I have a X-T10, bought it used. Almost never used. Now I want to sell it and people are asking me for the shutter count on it. I've been everywhere, on different sites that provide that service, but to no avail. The same with my X-T200, mind you. Some advice, please? Have a great day!
Hi! Thanks for asking. What service have you used so far? Have you tried CameraShutterCount.com. I have a feeling you have. I recommend using exiftool. It's a command line tool. You use it like this: exiftool -ShutterCount where is the path to your photo Please let me know if you need more help. Kind regards!
@@tom_photo Hello TomPhoto, Thanks for your fast and kind answer. The site I visited was the very popular APOTELYT, but the square where I pitch my JPEG kept on running dry. I'll visit the ones you recommended. Be back. Keep on sharing. Have a great weekend!
Hi! Thank you for asking. It sounds like the you are offered Fuji XF 18-55mm kit lens (ruclips.net/video/xCRm00S_IWU/видео.html). This is one of my favorite lenses and and an excellent choice for your camera. Kind regards!
Hi, I have an XT-10. In the eye sensor mode the preview just won't switch from LCD to the view finder, but there's no problem when I switch it with the view mode button. I guess there's something with the proximity sensor under the view finder. I'm just wondering if this kind of issue is fixable?
Hi. Thank you for your question. I'd first check if the eye sensor is set up correctly in the camera menu. Next, I'd try to reset the camera back to factory settings. After that, see if your software is up to date. If not, download new version from the Fuji website. If all these fail then you may want to inquire from Fuji repair how much it would cost to fix. I'm quite certain it can be fixed but I don't know if it's going to be worth the expense. I hope I could help you a little bit. Please let me know how it went. Best of luck to you!
Thank you for your pieces of advice I'm using Sony Nex6 for almost 4 years now. I'd like to change to Fuji since Nex6 is not really dedicated to photography rather than videography. I love doing landscape photography, astrophotography, some architectural photography and macro. Do you think the xt-10 is a best choice for me since it's affordable?
Thank you for this question. Fuji system has generally been a bit better for photography. However, the more recent models such as Fuji X-T30 are very capable video cameras as well. I'd say that if you care mostly about photography then the X-T10 is a really great choice. Its image quality is amazing and it's also affordable as you mentioned. If you want everything that X-T10 is but also need top quality video then I'd recommend the X-T30. I hope I could help you a little bit.
@@tom_photo I really appreciate your response. What I'm worried about is the possibility to charge the Xt-10 through a powerbank. This is something I have seen that it's possible on Xt-3 for instance but I've found nothing yet on xt-10. Unless you have an idea and it would great.
@@TheOnlyGuess Hi! As far as I know battery grip is not available for X-T10. The best way to go is to get 2-3 batteries and change them as you need. This is a limitation. At the same time I think that the incredibly small size of X-T10 is one of its benefits.
Hi Tom! First of all, thank you very much for the video, it was very nice. I am a Wedding and Portrait photographer. Will the XT-10 and 35mm f2.0 lens be enough for me to start?
Hi Umut! Thank you for asking. The X-T10 is among my favorite cameras. And the 35mm F/2 is a great universal lens. I'd say this combination is a good start. What you will be missing with the X-T10 is the additional card slot. A lot of wedding photographers prefer cameras that simultaneously write on two cards (to be sure that nothing happens to the valuable photos). Also, when using prime lenses they may prefer camera bodies with IBIS (e.g. X-T4, X-T5, X-HS, X-HS2, X-S10, X-S20, when it comes to Fuji). The 35mm lens is really great but for portraits you probably want to go over 35mm and you may like smaller F-stops for better bokeh. Here I find the XF 56mm F/1.2 a great lens to have. I hope this helped you. Kind regards!
Is there a way to back up the X T-10 settings? It is very annoying that after removing the battery and not using it for an extended period of time, the settings are restored to their default values. Unfortunatelly, Fujifilm Acquire does not support this camera.
H! Thank you for asking. This is an interesting questions. I'm not aware of any apps that could do it. Let me ask you if you store your settings as custom setting or you just make changes in the normal menu? Do you also see the custom menu settings to go back to defaults over time? Kind regards!
Hey. Thank you for your reply. I just make changes in the menu. If I remove a battery for a few months and turn the camera on, it asks to choose the date format as if it's a new camera. All custom buttons, everything is gone. This drives me crazy but I don't want to leave the battery inserted for a prolonged period of time.
@@GabrieGliukaz Hi! If you want to take the battery out for a long time then I don't immediately have a good solution. I'm not aware of any apps (other than FUJIFILM X Acquire) that could do what your want. If you have two batteries you may want to consider rotating them and checking on the camera on a regular basis. Sorry that I don't know how to help you better.
Hi, I'm curious about the on/off switch of the X-T10; I love the X-E2S I've had, but the on/off switch turned on by itself constantly when i took it in and out of my bag. So much so that it was a dealbreaker! Does the X-T10 switch feel solid? You mention it feels metal and like it will last which is helpful. Thanks for any info!
Hi Dennis! Thanks for asking. I have used the X-T10 and X-E2 side by side and I can conform that the on/off switch of the X-T10 is better in the sense that it is much more difficult to turn by accident. The switches on these two cameras are very different. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you!
Hello, first of all thank you for your review. I just got an X-T10 few weeks ago (body only) and I'd ask you to does it have F-Log on video? I didn't see any mentions about that in other reviews also.
Hi Alper! Thanks for asking. The X-T10 doesn't have F-log. For this you'd need X-T30 for example. However, the X-T10 is a superb camera. Congratulations on buying it. Kind regards!
Hi! Thanks for asking. I think the Fuji X-10 is among the best options as a travel camera. The XF 18-135 is no doubt a great lens, too, but you may find it a bit large for the X-T10. That said if the large focal length range is what you want then you should go for it. I've so far used my X-T10 with the XC 15-45 and this is a super compact lens. So I would find the 18-135 a bit too large. Often you see people use larger cameras with larger lenses and smaller cameras with smaller ones. Kind regards!
Hi Avi! Unfortunately I don't know the answer to that question. However, you don't need to import from Japan. This camera can only be bought used these days. So you can buy it from the US, too. One of the best places is to check Ebay. Kind regards!
Hi! I found minted Xt-1 & xt-10, im new to fujifilm and i wanted to try the film simulation & video creation for light use like holiday, some content creation (a beginner). Does the 2 fuji gets overheated for video creation? in terms of image quality and sharpness does xt-10 & xt-30 ii have any significant difference? I like the film simulations but would like to havw some sharp & crisp image that i see on most xt-30 images. Or image crispness only concerns the lens? And the image stabilisation how is it in both xt-1 and xt-10? Thank u in advance!
Hello! Thank you for your questions. All the cameras you are mentioning are very good. The image quality of X-T10 and X-T30 are very comparable and it is not easy to say which is better. It's the lens that determines image quality more than the cameras, as you also stated. The X-T30 has more pixels on the sensor, so some people may like that. Video is a big difference, the X-T30 goes to 4K and its video is superb. I hope that helped you a bit. I've compared the X-T10, X-T20, and X-T30 here: ruclips.net/video/Ko4FufE_wDU/видео.html . Kind regards!
Is the X-T10 fujifilm a good starter camera for someone who wants to do photography without any prior experience with cameras? (Expect phone of course)
Hi Elijah! Thank you for asking. Yes, I think the Fuji X-T10 is among the best cameras to introduce you to all the fun of photography. This camera is very capable and at the same time non-intimidating. It's one of the most fun cameras that I have used. It's not going to limit you. I recommend the X-T10 to you with full confidence. Best of luck to you!
Hi! Yes, you can charge the Fujifilm X-T10 battery with a power bank. However the camera itself does not have USB charging capabilities. The camera comes with an external charger. Kind regards!
Very nice video !! I understood everything and it was fun watching! Would you recommend this cam for a beginner photographer? For me it was easy to understand (I also have a little knowledge already too) and the price of the cam is also, in my opinion, good for a beginner. So what you would say ? :)
Hi Theo! Thanks for asking. Yes, I think this is a very good camera for a beginner. It's easy to handle, small, but at the same time has pro options you can use. My entire channel is mostly about how to make a bridge between beginner and advanced photographers through gradually unleashing the capabilities of cameras. Happy photography to you!
The camera also has a fully auto switch on it so it can really be used by anyone at any level. You wont regret your decision to buy a copy of this amazing little beauty.
I found a used xt100 and xt10 with the same price in my country (450usd). Which do you think is more worth it? the xt100 comes with a fujinon 16-50 lens and the xt10 with a 18-55 lens. I'm trying to find my first fujifilm camera 😁
Hi Faith! Thank you for asking this interesting question. While I'm a fan on X-T10 I do admit that most people would prefer X-T100 because it's newer technology (better resolution, 4K video, more focus points, better battery life etc). Now the XF 18-55 is a generally more desired and much more expensive lens than the XC 16-50. I do not think that the XC 16-50 cannot get the job done. It can and it's a wonderful lens (more plastic than the other one but also lighter and smaller, easier to carry around). So now it really boils down to what you need the camera for. And secondly - what is the condition of these cameras/lenses. I'd pay attention to the shutter count of the cameras. If one has taken much less photos than the other then that's a bonus. I'd certainly look at the sensor and make sure that the sensor is without damage. I'd also look at the lenses carefully against the light to see if they are free of small scratches. If you are thinking of getting more lenses in the future (e.g. primes) and decide to not use zoom lenses that much then that could lean you toward getting the X-T100. I hope I could help you a little bit. I might be able to help more if you describe your photography plans a bit further. Kind regards!
I am a makeup artist and will shoot mostly portrait and makeup portfolio...a lot suggest to buy 56mm f1.4 viltrox but its kinda want expensive is ttartisan 50mm f1.2 compatible with this camera is it ok for portrait and face photography
Hi BREVIE! Thank you for your question. Yes, this lens is compatible with Fuji X-T10 as long as you get the version that has a Fuji X-mount. So, I think this lens is very suitable for portraits. In case you are interested, my favorite portrait lens for Fuji X-mount is Fuji XF 56 mm F/1.2 ( ruclips.net/video/QBHeze-Ueqs/видео.html ). Kind regards!
Hi! Thank you for your question. Good choice to pick X-T10. The price depends a bit on where you're located. A good method to get a feel of the global price is to check e-bay. I think you could get an X-T10 body for about 200 EUR these days, maybe 250 EUR if it's minimally used. Thanks for watching the video and good luck to you!
@@tom_photo Thanks for your answer ! Im in France (Paris) and i only found near 400/450euro (430/485 dollar). It sell with an XC 16-50. Just the camera its like 250/300. Does an XC is useful ?
@@sellierkevin2019 The XC 16-50 is the most native lens for X-T10 and will work very well. A typical price for this lens is around 120 EUR (100 - 150 EUR). Lens is typically cheaper when sold together with camera. For the combo I would hope to pay about 350 EUR these days.
Thank you for your question and greetings to HongKong. I do not have first hand experience with these cameras but I have inquired about them. The X20 is very similar to X10 which I own and this happens to be my favorite camera. I like how it makes me enjoy photography. It's also so small and so well built. Its lens is fast and offers a good focal length range. The X100 is certainly a step forward in terms of image quality. It has a fixed focal length of 23 mm. So if you want to use zoom, with this camera you cannot. I think X100 should work very well for street photography and the X20 is a bit better all-rounder. There is no doubt in my mind that both cameras that you mentioned are really great.
@@yuenching8 I've been using very different settings in my photography. My favorite film simulations are: Provia for most photos, Pro Neg High for people, Classic Chrome for streets, Velvia S-tone=-1 Color=-1 for winter landscapes, Astia for fall foliage, Pro Neg Std or Eterna for Video. I use tripod whenever possible but almost always with telephoto. About 2/3 of my images are shot as JPGs the rest are from RAW files using RawTherapee. I try to modify my pictures as little as possible and never remove or add objects to normal photos. I often correct white balance and sharpen the images lightly. I hope it help a little. If you have specific questions about settings don't hesitate to ask.
Hi Mister Turtle Time! Thank you for your message. This camera is, indeed, a good purchase. Almost any Fuji X-mount lens will work with this camera. Smaller lenses are more convenient. If you are thinking of getting just one lens then zoom lenses are better options. For example Fuji XC 15-45 ( ruclips.net/video/lkGXyrg5DiU/видео.html ), Fuji XC 16-50 ( ruclips.net/video/5pO138_g3Hc/видео.html ), Fuji XF 18-55mm ( ruclips.net/video/xCRm00S_IWU/видео.html ). @@MisterTurtleTime Hi! Yes, "ecosystem of lenses" is a good way to put it. And yes, this camera is no doubt a great introductory camera (that doesn't sacrifice anything). Best wishes for the New Year to you as well! Cheers!
Hi! Thank you for asking. Both cameras are really nice. Many people would choose the Sony on the grounds that it is newer and offers more options. I'd like to say that in the end it's the photographer that makes a camera work. So the camera doesn't matter that much. I'm a Fuji user because their photographic philosophy is closest to mine and I enjoy their cameras. No doubt the Sony is very nice as well but I don't know enough about it. Kind regards!
Hi obbe j! Yes the camera will show the exposure on the screen by adjusting darkness. Of course if you are using aperture or shutter speed priority mode and then change the F-stop or shutter speed (correspondingly) then the overall exposure will remain the same. If you need to darken the scene or add light then in these modes you need to turn the exposure compensation button. Best of luck to you!
I just bought this camera, and it's my first mirrorless one, i bought the 18 to 135 mm zoom lens with it all for 600 bucks.. please tell me, what is a good prime i can add to what i have?
Hi! You've bought a wonderful camera. The 18-135 mm is really versatile lens, too. As far as primes go this very largely depends on your application. I love my XF 35 mm F/1.4. However its single focus mode tends to behave a bit like continuous focus on my X-T10 so I use it with my other cameras. A prime that you might like is the XC 35 mm F/2. As a first prime I tend to recommend a 35 mm option because it's most versatile (the normal view). Good luck to you with your photography!
hi tom, i have X-T10 with 35mm f2 for 6 years and still rocking, but I think I need a refreshment. I really want X100V but it’s hard to find, which alternative should I buy that you recommend?
Hi Shaflian! You have a great camera and lens. I'd love to give you recommendations/ideas for new purchases but please specify what the primary aspect is that you want to change about your camera. Where and when do you mostly use your camera? What do you feel is currently missing? Kind regards!
thanks for your reply@@tom_photo ! mainly i'll be using it for hobby that is street photography, I really like X100 series compactness and 23mm fixed lens will fit really well. I kind of thinking to buy latest XT series + 23mm but considering that I need to buy a new lens then why not just buy X100 series? should I wait next gen X100 or buy a higher second hand X100V? another thoughts is, I might also want to start creating content through video such as product review and etc, but it's also another hobby that I might want to start. I want compactness for street, great/latest photography hardware and software, can be used for video. I knew X-T10 was really bad at recording a video haha
@@shaflian Hi! It seems that the keywords here are: street photography, small size, advanced video. Based on this I'd recommend for example Fuji X-T30 or Fuji X-S10. The former is a bit smaller but the latter comes with the in body image stabilization. Both are very capable video cameras. The X-S10 has a screen that you can turn in all directions. This is a bonus if you have to film yourself. I hope this helps. Kind regards!
Hi Rover Team! Please check that the camera is not on automatic mode. It's the lever next to the shutter release button that you'll need to turn away from "auto". Kind regards!
you hint that autofocus isn't as impressive as newer cameras and i wanna know about this, because i am thinking about getting a old fujifilm camera to try and enjoy photography more than with current canon dslr. canon dslr has 9 fast auto focus points in the middle of the frame, but when using the screen it uses a really slow autofocus that is almost unusable, and moving where the focus point is is slow too. i assume that xt10 probably has better autofocus, but it's unclear, and i think it'd be disapointing if i got it and the autofocus was also really difficult to use. what's it like to use?
Hi! Thank you for asking. I'm not sure what Canon camera you currently have but based on your description I think the X-T10 will be significantly faster. The X-T10 isn't slow. I think it's fully adequate and sufficient for most uses. It's just that it is not among the fastest ones. I've never had problems with auto focus speed. I should also mention that the auto focus speed will also largely depend on the lens you're using. And it really matters that the firmware is up to date. I'd like to help you more. Please share some info about your current camera model and what Fuji lens you're going to use. Kind regards!
@@tom_photo I got this camera about two or three weeks ago, and I am really liking it! it came with a ttartisan 27mm and even it's autofocus seems faster than the canon, especially outside of the centre area. I'm thinking about what lens I should get next, and I think it's pretty hard to decide. it feels like that either a lens doesn't really fill out my kit, or the lens is quite expensive! I am mainly thinking about getting the xf 18-55mm lens, after considering that it fills in the most of my kit at once and copies that are scratched are affordable. I was originally also considering XC 35mm f2, because it is a fast aperture and also has autofocus, but I think it would have too much overlap with my existing lens and also I wouldn't get much from the slightly higher aperture. I would really like the xf 35mm f1.4, and think it would be much more well rounded and fill it's own niche, but it's also way too expensive for me. i've also considered adapting my canon 50mm 1.8, but with international shipping or travel costs, i would probably end up paying more for the adapter than the lens itself. even though it's really expensive, it's very nice getting to be excited about lenses. i've realised that very few of the canon lenses were things i was interested in. it used to be frustrating looking at lenses and seeing nothing i liked! it's exciting now, although, still expensive
@@bloodydoll5897 Hi! Thank you for the discussion about lenses. All lenses you are mentioning are very nice. It is difficult to pick out just one but I might have an idea for you. Why not consider Fuji XC 15-45? It's very sharp, offers a wide angle and is really affordable (ruclips.net/video/lkGXyrg5DiU/видео.html). If I could chose just one Fuji lens that would perhaps be my first choice for its versatility. Adopting Canon lenses should work , too, but I suspect not as well as native Fuji lenses. I've seen it with Nikon lenses that they are not as good with Fuji as they are with Nikon (ruclips.net/video/PSsyq8bYdio/видео.html). Fuji lenses are kind of special. I'd always recommend a native Fuji lens over any other. Kind regards!
@@tom_photo I've not thought much about 15-45mm since I learned that it was power zoom, and that a lot of people don't seem to like it at all because of that. I can't know if I'll like it until I try it, though. I've also overlooked it, purely because it's way less exciting than the more expensive lenses! Being boring may be a good thing, because it would fill role that more specialised lenses can't! I've been thinking more about the lens since replying and have done more research and I still don't think I'd like the power zoom, but I do think I would appreciate it's small size and image quality, in comparison to 16-50, which i've also considered. I've heard online as well that the 15-45mm is really sharp between 15-35mm and then above 35mm it is significantly less sharp, do you think that's true, and if it is, do you think it matters? I've also been thinking more about XC 35mm f2, because I realised I don't have a frame of reference for how f2 depth of field feels at 35mm, and that maybe I'm disregarding it too early because I assume it won't allow for creative subject isolation. I still think that getting a zoom lens next is probably best, though
@@bloodydoll5897 Hi! Just like you I'm also not very excited about power zooms. This is a limitation of the XC 15-45 but it's a small limitation. I forgot about the power zoom as soon I saw the tack sharp results it produces and how small this lens is. It is one of the sharpest kit lenses I've seen (especially at the center) and maintains its sharpness throughout the focal length. I sold this lens once but started to miss so much I bought it again. I own an array ow Fuji lenses (ruclips.net/video/ndCrbW5VZ4Y/видео.html) but this one currently gets most use from me. Cheers!
Hi Norman Q! Thanks for asking. Both are great lenses. I find the 16-50mm more convenient to operate because it does not have the motor. On the other hand the 15-45mm is smaller and perhaps a bit sharper. The 16-50 gives a better potography experience but the the 15-45mm may be more practical. You cannot go wrong either way. Kind regards!
Thanks Tom. I went ahead and ordered the 15-45mm from KEH. Can't wait to play with this camera. Need to set it up as straightforward as possible for her. I just got myself a Sony a6400 and I have an older Nikon DSLR. This camera is primarily hers but doesn't mean I can't borrow it from time to time to do some fun shoots.
Hi! Thanks for asking. As you hold the camera in your hand, look for a small lever next to the large turnable button on the left (the function button). It has a small flash icon as well. You need to push that lever. Let me know if I was clear enough. Cheers!

When you start that video you'll see the top of the camera. On the very left you'll see a small flash sign (next to the large button on far left). Next to that flash sign is a little button (looks like a small lever) that you can push. I think you should have it, all X-T10 units have that. You don't see it maybe you don't have an X-T10, maybe you have an X10 instead? Please let me know.

@@tom_photoHi, im looking to buy my very first camera. I had experience working with it before, but it was the companies’ camera. Currently, im looking at sony a5100. Which one is better? A5100 or xt10, or do you have any other suggestion? Thank you.
@@muhdamin205 Hi! Thank you for asking. This is not an easy decision because both are very good options. I must admit that I know much more about Fuji than Sony and I also happen to be a Fuji fan. Fuji offers amazing colors and I think they handle well and look really good. Sony on the other hand is becoming one of the most popular camera brands these days. The Fuji has a hot shoe for external flash and offers a viewfinder. For me the viewfinder is a major advantage. But Sony has touch screen and many more focus points. These are very nice features. I think many people would take the Sony but I'd maybe take the Fuji. I hope this helps you. Kind regards!
hi tom- watching your video quality, it really does look pretty good for my lack of knowledge in video/photo cameras. I have an XT10, yet my video quality looks so so bad. its very digitally 'gritty'. like the quality sucks. I was wondering if I could email you some test footage and see if you would know anything about it? how to diagnose it and possibly any fixes. Thanks for such a great video! Love the way you present this camera.
Hi Isaac! Thank you very much. I think the X-T10 is a wonderful photo camera. It's video is not quite as good as that of the following models. However it's not bad at all. There are digital tricks to improve its quality but I understand you are asking how to improve video directly on the camera. You said you had a problem with noise in your video. In those cases the number one reason is high ISO. What ISO were you using? What also matters is that the shutter speed is appropriate for the frame rate. Shutter speed value should be twice the value of frame rate (e.g. shutter speed 60 for frame rate 30 fps). If you want you can send me a sample footage and I can take a look (tomphoto.channel@gmail.com). Kind regards!
Hi! This is an awesome camera. Congratulations on getting it. I've taken some of my best phiyos with it. I think the Fuji X-T5 or X-H2 are the top of the line but all Fuji's are great. Kind regards!
Hi Lance! Thanks for asking. The XT100 is newer technology, has more Mpix and better video capabilities. The XT10, on the other hand, has a bit better continuous shooting and the legendary X-Trans II sensor. They are both wonderful cameras to buy but the XT100 is more expensive. I hope I could help you.
@@tom_photo thanks for responding. from where im from they're both priced similarly for a second hand unit. thats why I was curious. time to save up money for either one 🙂
@@lance_medul Hi! In that case I'd give a slight edge to XT100 provided that they are in the same condition. If one has taken much less photos than the other then this can change things.
I initially bought the 100 and then the 10(actually i bought a used lens together with the cam). I ended up selling the 100 because i liked the better haptic with the dials
Hi nikyabo! Thank you for asking. This is a great camera for stills photography and will work really well with a 35 mm lens. At the same time video is not its strongest selling point. The HD that it does is not very detailed. If you have other options to consider I'll be happy to give you my opinion. Kind regards!
@@tom_photoHi, I’m in a similar boat with an Xt10 but am wanting to look into other good camera options that can shoot good video quality with the option to change the shutter speed with video. Also, if you have any recommendations that are on the affordable side please let me know!
Hi Gokhan! Thanks for asking. These are all really nice cameras with really good image quality. All have their own advantages. The X-T20 is the most modern (touch screen, newer sensor etc.). The X-T1 is weather proof and nice full size camera, an iconic peace of equipment. The X-T10 is much like X-T1 but smaller (which could be a bonus). It's difficult to recommend to somebody else but if you ask me what I'd personally get then probably X-T20. Choosing between X-T1 and X-T10 is basically choosing between size and weather resistance. I personally care more about size. Kind regards!
@@Zainphotography Hi! Sure, X-T1 is also a very nice one but it's also larger. If size matters then it has a a bit of disadvantage. At the same time its weather protected and overall just a great camera. Cheers!
@@jan-martinulvag1962 Maybe you have zebra setting at low value and you see zebra over your photo? Maybe you have some settings changed so that they are too tricky to change back? Whatever the reason at this stage I'd recommend to reset your camera entirely (do the factory reset). This can be done from the menu.
Hi! Thank you for asking. What camera to prefer is a personal preference. The X-T100 is newer technology and more capable, but it's also more expensive. I have have never owned X-T100 but I've found X-T10 amazingly good. If you want high quality video or care about connectivity you need to go with the X-T100. However the X-T10 has its advantages, too. It has larger pixel area and lower minimal ISO and a better ISO range, and it's also smaller. Both cameras are great, you cannot go wrong with either one of them. Kind regards!
@@Jesusisyhvh1 Hi! Thank you for your question. Natively you cannot use X-T10 for streaming but apparently people have been trying to come up with workarounds to come with a solution: www.quora.com/How-can-I-use-my-Fujifilm-XT10-as-webcam-for-livestreaming . I do not have experience with green screen. Kind regards!

Very cool review. You could do a whole review on the 16-50 3.5 lens, and the bang for the buck it is. Center sharpness waa considered the best ever for a kit lens. OIS. And toss that on a T-2 and you get crazy fast auto.

The shutter speed button is not meant as a dual button, you may be able to assign aperture control to it, for a lens without that function on it, such as an aperture ring.

Great camera, just wish it had ‘live view highlight alert’ (blinkies).
Hi! Thanks a lot for your feedback. Kind regards!
I have a questions,
Does XT10 has focus zoom?
@@tom_photo thank you for your answer, I really appreciate it..
Just sold my x100t because i got bored with the fixed lens. I might buy a xt10 or the 20, your videos have been very informative, thanks.
Hi Geo! I feel the same. Fixed lens is fine but it'd be nice to be able to change those fixed lenses. The X-T10 and X-T20 are both great, can't go wrong there. Kind regards!
Is the x-t10 a good starter? I was gifted it and would love to start taking family photos and not sure if it’s the right one to do so with!
Hi! Thank you for asking. I think the Fuji X-T10 is in fact one of the best starter cameras to get into photography. It will work very well for family photography. It's a good idea to turn on face recognition - and you're ready to start. Best of luck to you!
Another lovely video, Tom. Take care, C
Thank you, Cliff!
@@tom_photo Thanks again. Very helpful. I think I'm leaning towards the X-E1 with the 23mm f/2.

I'm using Sony Nex6 for almost 4 years now.
I will follow your advice and look for a lens with a lower aperture value, of course I need to save money first ahaha 😂😂. Thanks TOM!

Hi Dennis! Thanks for asking. I have used the X-T10 and X-E2 side by side and I can conform that the on/off switch of the X-T10 is better in the sense that it is much more difficult to turn by accident. The switches on these two cameras are very different. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you!

Would you say this camera and 18-135 is a good all rounder for travelling as a beginner

This camera is very capable and at the same time non-intimidating. It's one of the most fun cameras that I have used. It's not going to limit you. I recommend the X-T10 to you with full confidence. Best of luck to you!
Thank you. I deeply appreciate it. I see a good deal, so I'll take it 👍.

can you charge the battery with a powerbank?
Hey,
wonderful video ! Im really interested by this camera. How much do you think is the right price in 2022 for it ?
This is from HongKong. I have X20 and X100. May I have your suggestion on the recipe for those. Thanks in advance and hope to see your reply.
@@tom_photo Thanks your reply. May I know your setting of your X10 ? I do really love your photos sample
I'll buy this camera!!! I'm relatively new to photography so what does a lens costs me and which lenses fit on this camera😬?
The first two are much more affordable and also smaller. Kind regards!

what do u think is the best in photography sony a6400 or fujifilm xt10?
If I change the exposure - ISO - aperture. Does it show in the live view by getting darker or lighter?

@@tom_photo thank you! Ill for a xc35 f2, very encouraging 🙏
hi tom, i have X-T10 with 35mm f2 for 6 years and still rocking, but I think I need a refreshment.
How do I change the iso value?..For my case, it's grey out....
Cheers!
Just bought this camera for my wife for Christmas. Should I get the 15-45mm or the 16-50mm lens? They practically cost the same.
