i was planning to iron my clothes while watching this, in the end i had to switch the iron off and set it aside so i could focus more... you explained it sooo simple and made me understand all the features my camera has. thank you so much... i never subscribed on youtube... now i am! well done guys... i'm buying the whole video now ;)
My X-T10 is my third Fujifilm mirrorless camera. I like it a lot, but in common with the X-T2 and the X-E2 which preceded it, I never fully understood how to use it, even after having had reasonable quality cameras since 1963. All that has changed after watching this video. I am impressed not only with the technical content of the video but by the style of the presentation. This is indeed the more important part of the video: all the technical info I need is in the Fujifilm camera users guide, but is presented in a needlessly complicated way ( and in a font which is trying for me to read, so I gave up trying after about 5 attempts). Compared to that manual, the style here is well paced, articulate and clealy spoken (in such great contrast to most RUclips videos). It is free of really annoying colloqialisms , typified in so many videos which start with an individual (who should never have been let loose in front of a camera) yelling 'whazzaa' - or words to that effect - at me, in a culturally irritating way, as soon as the video starts. Here, the camera work, the background, the visuals and, above all, the body language (no vigorous arm waving, threatening finger pointing, strange hand gestures etc) are exemplary. Altogether it is a model video - well done.
I've owned the X-T1 for four months now, the X-T10's big brother. I feel the only way to get to know how the camera really operates is to go through _every_single_menu_ and adjust the settings to your liking. Speaking of Continuous autofocus, turn Focus Priority on in the AF menu. Then you won't take a picture unless something is in focus. This would probably solve Tony's problem with C-AF giving him out-of-focus pictures. I also recommend customizing the Q menu. Hold down the Q button until you get the weird looking menu, then choose what you want displayed.
l think in the C-AF if turned on and you in C mode it's always hunting to get into focus that will put a drain on the battery, l leave my setting off it will focus when you push the button half way down.
Serious gold. I have had this camera for 6 months now, and still get confused. ((Im not patient at reading manuals) Fujifilm should pay you for this video, and commission you for other cameras. Its great to be shown as well as have explanations along the way. How can I thank you enough for taking the time. Amazing. Good for you !!! Thank you ;)
Nikon shooter here(D40,D7K, D600, D810). Picked this camera kit up last week on a whim and I have to say it's absolutely brilliant! Pure quality! XF 35 f2 WR is stunning on it. Tony thanks for this. I learned a lot about the Fuji system from this tutorial.
Hi! I just bought an Xt10 and I love it. My first Fuji was an x10 which I loved but lost. Then I got an x30 which I was never comfortable with, it never felt right, so now I've gone for an Xt10. I've watched your Xt10 video several times and it's brilliant, thank you ever so much.
Thanks, Tony. As someone who shoots Nikon almost exclusively, I was a bit out of my element with the X-T10 but this has made it much less intimidating. I'm really enjoying the camera so far. Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos. Keep up the good work.
First off, great video! Thanks! One thing I got caught up on was my command dial on the back wasn't controlling my aperture when in Aperture Priority mode. I thought something was off in my settings, but turns out if you have a lens ( in this case I have the 18-55 ) with the aperture ring, the command dial WON'T control the aperture in AP mode. AKA you are using a ring-less lens in the vid so that didn't get covered. FYI. Thanks again for the great video and cheers!
Brilliant, I always love your videos you are the most elegant and cool reviewer on RUclips and happy that finally you are in Fujifilm club, I'am a fan of Fujifilm Cameras.
thank you for this wonderful video tony, i just got my xt10/18-55 by watching reviews including yours, this camera is exceptional. your tutorial how to tweak the camera is the best free video i have seen so far. looking ahead into buying your books/videos. there is too much information to absorb, so i will have to revisit each section again and again. keep up the good work.
finally somebody that explains everything really good. this tutorial is amazing, thank you very much! now i understand this camera and it makes more fun.
as this is my first video on photography as i just get my x-t10 with kit for a good deal this is my go to video... everything i know about photography credit goes to your wholesome video not just on camera but photography on general as well, also created an equation about combining aperture f stop and background blur in my head and wow that is just my first day... woohoo thanks a lot
The xt 10 seems like a good little camera. I think I would take this camera with me way more often to dinner or on a family vacation than my DSLR. I love my DSLRs but this seems more practical.
I have a D750, new D500, and this camera. I love my DSLRs but this camera is so fun, and when walking about on the street on a scenic coastline, I can make really lovely pictures. It is such a retro feeling and fun piece of gear. And Fujinon lenses are stellar.
I'm a little late to this party, but thanks for the video. I've had this camera for a few years and found it not intuitive and the manual between useless and wrong. Other videos are just confused. This presentation is so well presented and paced, the perfect tool to help me get the camera out of the bag and using it again. Watching it for the 3rd time. Bought your book and will be doing your course.
I also was at the conference that Karla Neese mentions and received this camera! I'm sorry to say it's been sitting in it's box for 6 months because it looked so intimidating and finding the time to figure it out just never came until recently. I'm now taking a photography class and your video has helped me tremendously as the instructor is telling us parts of the camera by using Sony, Nikon and Canon cameras. I was having a really hard time understanding what he was talking about! So thank you, thank you, thank you! My camera no longer scares me!
Tony, Thanks for an excellent introduction...I will definitely support your site and look forward to more! Well made and simple..a must for ALL fotographers
Thank you for the excellent vídeo. If I could just make a suggestion, why not, at the end of each camera review, sharing a few photos showing the use of AP, SP, Auto and Manual Mode with the reviewed camera.
Thank you so much. XT-10 is my first camera. I had done a ton of research before buying. I had your video bookmarked. First thing I did after coming back home with the camera is watching your video. It was a great tutorial and it saved me a lot of time and struggle. Thank you so much again. Already subscribed to your channel. :) ... Will sure buy your books too. It's also nice to know that you review photos. I'll send one someday.. :P...
Thanks for this review... it has been very helpful! The X-T10 is my first interchangeable lens system, and this video has helped fill in some basic "gaps" for me.
Thanks for the great Video. I'll be sure and get your ebooks too. You really move along at a nice pace with key points and do an excellent job of abbreviating the less important. I just left Canon and was a bit frustrated with re-learning until I found this video.
Gabe Sanchez Exposure compensation is used to adjust the auto exposure up and down if you aren't happy with the camera's metering. When you're in manual mode, you're the one setting the exposure, so there's no need for exposure comp. You would just adjust the aperture, shutter speed, or ISO to whatever value you want.
+Tony Northrup Quick question about aperture speed. When I have it set on Auto and use the dial to change aperture mode, the only thing that comes up are the auto settings - portrait, nature, sports, etc. Is this the same thing?
+Karla Neese I believe that's because you have it in Auto mode. That means the camera will choose each setting it feels is suitable for whatever situation you are shooting. Just a guess😊✌. I Just got one a week ago so....
Thanks for the great tutorial! I've had this camera for a while, but never really used it, but it's the perfect size for backpacking, and I needed to learn this quickly. : )
Thanks Tony for this video. I have a X100s right now but I'm considering to purchase the X-T10 to have some more flexibility. I've learned some new and useful things about this camera and its usage.
This is SOOOOO helpful, thank you so much! I really appreciate this video :) well done, you are an excellent teacher that is keeping my attention throughout this whole video!
Shooting RAW is fine but unless you have Light Room 6 it's a non, no. There is no update for Light Room 5 for this camera!!! You can however down load (for free) the Fuji Fine Pix Studio and then download the RAW Converter to utilize the RAW files - had it for a few weeks and love the Jpeg's. Still use my Canon 5D 3 for more important shots but carrying the X-T10 instead of all my heavy stuff is becoming more and more usual these days - (age you know. Once again a great video and many thanks:)
Hey Tony, thanks for the review. Just picked up an X-T10 as my secondary camera and it's a cool lil' camera. Just a note... that 27mm pancake lens is notorious for hunting on continuous.
I've read that the Canon remote for the 60D and many other lesser Canons also works well. Good news because that means my Yongnuo RF603 triggers will work too.
Hi Tony, after switching from a DSLR to exactly this camera it was quite a lot new stuff to know although i was used to a lot of different settings from my dslr. So your film was more than helpful, thanks a lot. Fuji is very different from Nikon ;-) Thanks a lot, N.
Thanks Tony. Another excellent and very useful review. I noted in the beginning you said, "our favorite little mirrorless camera". It's the "little" that I am stuck on. Is it your favorite mirrorless, or favorite "little" mirrorless? Meaning, for the smaller mirrorless bodies? I am interested in the X-t1 and not sure if it's worth the extra $ since I technically don't need weatherproofing. Thanks.
This helped me so much! You are such a good explainer and Photography-Expert! Just like a less-evil Mark Jefferson! (That's something to be proud about.) Joke aside, the Fuji is my first Camera and without your video I'd be totally lost, so thanks a million! :3
Just want to shout out that Tonys' method for silencing the camera retains all functionality. I used the silent mode and then took an age to understand why the flash would not fire.
I just bought this camera and I love it, I do have a question though. I want to take beautiful landscape shots when I am hiking/camping so what lens do you recommend?

Concerning 28:56 (ruclips.net/video/TI-QwmRrMus/видео.html:) As I mentioned in a comment to another of your X-T10 videos already, if you wanna set the shutter speed quickly via the front command dial, turn the shutter speed dial at the top of the camera to the "T" position. Now you can flip through all the available shutter speeds using the front command dial. If you have Electronic + Manual Shutter activated, that's from 1/32.000 all the way up to 30''...
Hi! Thanks, this is a great video to get up to speed on the X-T10 (which i just bought, and love)! One thing it doesnt cover is the Dynamic range setting on the Q screen. Can you give some insight on how to use this?
Great video Tony, with the exceptional 18-55 2.8-4 "kit lens" coupled with the X10 around $1,000 I agree with so many videos on utube that it's a fantastic deal, & O yeah, takes great photos with a really good lens selection. It's missing one thing a touchscreen, but in this case I believe it can be overlooked in this instance.
can i get ur book in indonesia? im a newbie n wanna buyb x-t10 tommorow. i gonna get the 18-55mm kit and also the xf 35mm f2 lens. should i buy that xf 35mm f2?
Very informative video! I purchased the X-T10 today. Instead of opting for the 16-50mm 3.5-5.6 kit lens, I went with the 18-55mm 2.8-4.0 package for more money. I heard good reviews on it. What are your thoughts on the lens? Also, if I don't ordinarily shoot faster moving subjects, do I really need to set Power Management to High Performance, which would compromise battery life?
Great review ! So helpful . I have a question about bulb mode , you said you would mention how to get around it without holding your finger on the button but I can’t find it anywhere . I want to shoot stars , is bulb mode the best mode ? If so , how can I do this for a long period of time without holding my finger on the button on the tri pod ? Hope someone can help . Many thanks again
is it possible to assign the front scroll wheel to ISO? its currently assigned to shutter speed! yet there is already a shutter speed dial on top. any help would greatly be appreciated
Thanks so much for all the videos. Quick question, as someone that's looking to get a mirrorless camera to do some nature, birding, milky way photography, what camera would go with? I've been looking at this camera, the a6000, and em-1. Any help would be much appreciated, as the amount of gear out there is quite overwhelming!
I have a Fuji X-T10 with XF18-55mm. Also I have several old Nikon lenses on my Nikon F2Sb: - 50 mm f1.4, I do not know if pre AI or AI - 24mm f2.8 pre AI - P Nikkor 105 mm f2.5 - 75-150mm f / 3.5 (Series E) - Zoom 80-200mm f4.5 Rokina I have a Kiwifotos converter, which can be used with the zoom 75-150 of Series E, I use a fully manual system with good results. But I see that is not compatible with my other lenses. I would appreciate information on converters required to use the other lenses in my X-T10.

Thanks for this video! Just got my XT-10 after much back and forth. Enjoy the videos that you and Chelsea put out!

Does exposure compensation only work in auto + AP mode? I am trying it in manual and it does nothing.
I'm a beginner but we got this camera as a giveaway at a conference and it's over my head so thank you for this video!!!
+Karla Neese Wow, congrats, that's a great giveaway! And you're welcome! Enjoy it!
+Tony Northrup Quick question about aperture speed. When I have it set on Auto and use the dial to change aperture mode, the only thing that comes up are the auto settings - portrait, nature, sports, etc. Is this the same thing?

Hi! Thanks, this is a great video to get up to speed on the X-T10 (which i just bought, and love)! One thing it doesnt cover is the Dynamic range setting on the Q screen. Can you give some insight on how to use this?
Alex Miller
You must pay for this.
Love you so so much i am a new subscriber your tutorials will help me so much.
I appreciated. :)
Really great tutorial video, thanks!
Is it possible to make subtitles for the video ?
I read english better than i hear it !
P.S: Sorry for my poor english, i'm french
Yes, I believe you press the button that says CC
is it possible to assign the front scroll wheel to ISO? its currently assigned to shutter speed! yet there is already a shutter speed dial on top. any help would greatly be appreciated
Thank you so much for this video! Truly helpful!
Hi Tony thank you for this in depth guide. Is it possible to disable the front wheel / dial? I do not want that to change my shutter speeds. Thanks
the electronic shutter can be literally silent by turning off the fake shutter sound :) amazing
Great video! Very helpful.
I have a Fuji X-T10 with XF18-55mm. Also I have several old Nikon lenses on my Nikon F2Sb:
- 50 mm f1.4, I do not know if pre AI or AI
- 24mm f2.8 pre AI
- P Nikkor 105 mm f2.5
- 75-150mm f / 3.5 (Series E)
- Zoom 80-200mm f4.5 Rokina
I have a Kiwifotos converter, which can be used with the zoom 75-150 of Series E, I use a fully manual system with good results. But I see that is not compatible with my other lenses.
I would appreciate information on converters required to use the other lenses in my X-T10.
