LET'S GET THIS OUT ONTO A TRAY, NICE™
NICE HISS™
I'LL BE COMING BACK AT YOU WITH SOMETHING NEW OR OLD, ALRIGHT COOL SEE YA™
I laughed so hard when it went from "100% replicated combat conditions" to a jump cut to a pot of boiling water.
RRRnGAMES- actually though that's what we do in the field man. Throw them in a pressure cooker and onto the coleman stove.
Armyguy864 Dang that seems like a luxury
Game Giant- it’s not really. Those ghetto ass coleman stoves, you gotta fuck with them for a while.
Armyguy864 man y'all have pressure cookers? We just have plastic bags to heat our shit in lol as an American infrantryman I'm always jealous of other countries' MRE's. They all seem way cooler. I'm sure they all get old after a while though.
never more- yeah man we get ol’ naphtha coleman stoves going and we heat up a whole sections meal at a time. Though don’t get me wrong we have those heating bags with water too but in the cold they’re worthless. Yeah MREs are not really fun to begin with. Though I’m a vehicle tech still in training so I don’t really go to the field that often so I can’t really complain. I don’t mind the Canadian MREs they’re not bad. Except for the salmon I won’t touch that noise. Lol. Semper Fi brother.
Tried watching some of the other MRE reviewers. Nothing against them but, Steve is still the best.
Something that really puts me off other ration reviewers are those who smack their lips when eating. Its truly disgusting and their is no excuse. Steve maintains excellent eating etiquette at all times
It’s like PecosHank with tornado chasing and Jeremy Jahns with movie reviews, some people are just the industry standard
Nice!
@@jschools1392 PECOS HANK IS A GOD.
Let's get this on the tray. Nice.
I’ve only watched a handful of your videos-consisting exclusively of you discussing MRE type packs-yet you somehow still come across as like the nicest, most genuine dude out there. I’m sure that partly explains the popularity of your channel, as well. Keep it up.
Some people just have the knack for it. Steve could post videos where he watches paint dry and they would get 10s of Ks of views.
Daniel Varney nah man met this dude at a bar one time, I live in Lakeland fl, so I was like hold shit that’s the MRE GUY! so of course I was totally fan boying as my girlfriend was like wtf are you talking about, long story short I go up to him say hey man I’m a huge fan I’m a subscriber and love your vids you think I can get a picture with you, he proceeds to say he doesn’t take pictures and that I’m a peasant compared to him and if ur still reading this story I’m sorry I made it all up this dude is chill as fuck now let me just let my self out............. NICE
Hey Gavin, that was good for a laugh! I always carry a couple P-38's and coffee, instant, type 1 from the 70's-80's in my wallet just for when a fan says hi in person. Nothing is more fun than to chat for a few and share a laugh and a couple neat mementos to take along the road. I just met a dude and his mom at Webster Westside flea market and antique show this past Monday I was selling MRE's and the usual antique/jewelry setup I do out there on Mondays. And they were super nice and pleasant. I shared my British 24hr ORP that I brought for lunch with the fella. He got my chocolate brownie.. lucky bugger it was the only one in the case of 10. hah!
Steve1989MREInfo woah!! Was not expecting a reply hope u were not insulted at my comment was all a joke I freaking love your videos I litterly found ur channel last week and have been binge watching every single video, keep up the good work I actually live in Bradenton/Sarasota area so I’m actually not to far from u if u ever do a meet and greet would love to come up and meet u, either way love the content bro!!
Steve1989MREInfo, I live a lot further away than Gavin does, but I just found your channel a little less than a week ago, and other than wanting to know how much these cost, I do want you to know that I have been binging them too on my phone, and I find your voice so soothing and pleasant, that I put on your videos when I am going to bed, and sleep to them.

"100% replicated combat conditions"
I pissed myself laughing haha
For the Canadian military?
I can believe it.
We do pop it in a pressure cooker then put it on the stove. keeps the tent warm and melts ice for drinking water too.
lol yeap what I was thinking hahaha.
Seamus Sullivan yup pop the whole sections meals in and onto the good ol nafta coleman.

As a montrealer this makes me happy. Smoked meat with mustard is the real deal. In fact some places charge you extra for no mustard. If you come to Montreal goto Schwartz for the best smoked meat
fidorulz Dunn's is better.
Interesting. Is it similar to what the U.S. knows as "Sloppy Joe's?"
Aaron A. Foster not a all
Aaron A. Foster Nope, I'm from Montreal too and have eaten both sloppy joes and smoked meat and apart from both using meat and bread, they're a totally different experience.
Many restaurants serve it this way:huge pile of smoked meat (this one looked tasty enough) that you can enjoy with a fork because it's sometimes too big to eat as a sandwich at first, a couple rye bread slices, yellow mustard on the side to dip, and in the sandwich if it's small enough to be served whole, fries on the side, also dill pickles and coleslaw.
oops, here I am reading your comment fidorulz and I am clicking replay only the mouse is pointered on the thumbs down. No comment box shows up and Im like HEY WHAT then I see the blue. Damn, I need another doubledouble to wake myself up more. As to lunch, time to stop and pick up some smoked meat and fresh baked pain on my way to work!
Man, I can't fault a single thing about your content. It's well informed, well structured, and it has moments of comedy thrown in to keep us on our feet. Fantastic stuff dude.
Except for his extensive use of "undertones" and "shortening"..

In Canada, the coffee you drank is referred to as a double double. Don’t believe me just go to a Tim Hortons if you ever come to Canada and ask for one!
Brandon Levesque Funny to read because Ive had a Canadian teacher and he told us everything about Canada including stuff like that :)
Brandon Levesque I don't know, I don't necessarily refer to a double double as such anywhere but in a Tim's.

Nice! Thanks for the video Steve. As a Canadian, I always get weirdly excited to see Canadian MRE episodes. If you ever go to Montreal, I would recommend you pair a smoked meat sandwich with a cherry Coke and a dill pickle on the side. Cool, see ya :)
I get excited too! Canadian MREs looks so good that I want to eat it all time.

Where do you recommend he grabs the smoked meat? Schwartzis definitely the most well-known, but idk if it's the best
GiGaBoOoOM I would say Schwartz's deli is the place to go. A classic Montreal establishment, and my personal favourite. My grandma took me there when I was little so it also has some good memories for me.

I was in the Canadian Army (Artillery) in the 1980's.. we just put the IMP on the exhaust manifold of the truck to heat it up... worked well.
I was in the military eight years I find your voice very calming. I enjoy your videos in a weird calming way
"Pain Hamburger" sounds like a 16yo's angsty emo song.
lol apparently "pain" is bread in french !
those canadians eat pain for breakfast
Back from medieval times, when bread was made of peasant pain. lol
As a French Canadian, I was confused by your comments but then I read pain in the english form and your right it does sound like some goth emo band
I'll make that a song on my upcoming album. Soon. In a few years.
The smoked meat looks right but normally it's made as a sandwich with mustard and maybe some pickles. Mustard sauce isn't something I've seen before. You're right to say it's similar to corned beef because it's very similar preparation and uses the same cut, however the main flavouring is usually the long smoking time. If you liked that, you should come to Montreal and try the real thing, it's even better.
Also the double cream and double sugar is similar to a common order at Tim Hortons, our largest coffee chain, people usually say they want a Double double.
So is this a breakfast menu or a lunch/dinner menu?
@@toryknotts8026 It’s usually like a lunch/dinner thing. Not sure about what time of day troops eat these meals though.
@@nstamour ah, thank you. The " chocolate milk" and a double double really made it seem like a breakfast. How bitter is a double double? From Steves refined coffee pallet, it sounds a bit like a coffee flavored monster energy drink.-- if you have had one of that coffee /energy drink hybrids.
@@toryknotts8026 it’s essentially a super sweet creamy coffee, it’s very popular, but I always found it too sweet personally.
@@nstamour yup, sounds a lot like that energy drink.
That beverage bag has a very sturdy gusset
Lol I love how the coffee is a double double, just like how us Canadians like it
I would be disappointed to get a premixed double double. I drink it black, or with just a tiny bit of cream, but never any sugar. Then again, I supposed I am a bit of a weird Canadian as I also don't much care for Tim Hortons or hockey.
Cha like a large double double eh
This is one of your videos where I am convinced that what you're consuming is better than a meal at a sit down restaurant. Job well done!
That sauce looks more than magnificent, it looks...
Nice!
I wish I could remember the first time I watched one of Steve's videos. And how I ever stumbled on to his channel. I never regret getting addicted to these videos. Plus all that I have learned from watching videos about Military Rations. I sometimes wonder if Steve is a gourmet chef, and his secret sinful food craving is these MRE's and Military field rations. Best part of my day is always seen that wonderful notification that Steve has taken the time to upload a video and bless us with his knoweldge.
boopernator I can't remember for the life of me how I found his channel either but I was hooked after the first video

boopernator mine was a 67 'nam ration a few years ago, with smokes included and instant coffee that he had with the smokes, that's where I thought"I don't know what I'm watching and why I'm watching it,but I need more of it"
When I was in the Marine Corps, I have eaten some of the Canadian IMPs, they are delicious.
I love watching Steve he’s the best , he makes it so enjoyable to watch , So interesting to see the differences in the countries, thanks Steve your a doll 👍🏽✌🏼❣️
The 2014 version of this was my absolute favourite ration when I was in the CAF.

Hey Jaehyun's Dimples, I am glad to have these two out before the end of the month for you & the folks here! Working on new ones as always, so stay tuned. Alright, cool!
Damn. That looks better than what I eat most days.
Smoked meat is indeed a Montreal specialty. It's usually eaten as a sandwich with some sort of rye-like bread, freshly cut thin slices of smoked meat, with mustard (Dijon or yellow mustard). It's usually like... 80% meat and 19% bread. The meat is supposed to be oozing with it's cooking juice (fat). Some restaurants allows you to choose fat percentage. It is not usually eaten as a stew, but it's not shocking to do so. It often comes as a dish with a pickle on the side, and either fries or coleslaw.
Very glad you enjoyed it.
Hey steve, a normal smoked meat dish in montreal usually looks like: A huge pile of smoked meat (this one looked tasty enough), a couple rye bread slices, yellow mustard, fries, dill pickle, and coleslaw. It varies, but you can get this plate at many delis, some places do it better, but most restaurants have good stuff.
Glad you enjoyed this! What you ate wasn't a typical "smoked meat" dish but I'm sure the soldiers are happy to eat it anyway even if they know the good stuff.
Steve is so awesome, always makes my day when a new video pops up!!
"Alright, so let's get these out on a tray"
/*extremely sudden jump-cut/*
"Nice"
Lol I love this line of his so much 😂and his intonation, too 😂
I live in Ontario, however Montreal is about 2 hours away from me. And my grandfather used to make this all the time (rip). I watch this show a bunch and this one had me astounded. I wanted to eat the whole thing. For an IMP they did a BANG on job of this. Ive had my grandfathers and ive had it from montreal (they are close but not the same) this looks pretty perfect in my opinion. Another great video!!
I always respect a man that appreciates a nice gusset.
TWO videos just before bed. Am I in heaven?
Steve, you will forever be known as the biggest badass in history. Rock on brother
Thanks for haring Stevo! You asked about the way Smoked Meat is served in Montreal, and I have to say this MRE is nowhere near how Montreal Smoked Meat is served in la metropole... I've had Smoked Meat hundreds of times, and each outing to any Montreal restaurant delivered the meal the same way: A stack of smoked meat (pastrami) on Rye bread with yellow mustard on each side of the bread, an order of fries and a Kosher dill pickle spear. This MRE would have the right main flavor, but it would be way off on texture and sides. Still, if I were in a combat situation and this was the MRE I had, I'm confident I'd give praise to God for it instead of the many disgusting MRE options I experienced in Canada when I was in the Armed Forces, like peach flavored drinks in the field and cold omelettes that sat in my pack for weeks... For the record, I survived on Peanut Butter when we hit the road, and traded for it every chance I got so I could be awake during weapons training... #TGBTG
Hey Daniel, thank you for sharing! It's always fun to learn about new foods and this one was a neat introduction albeit not 100% authentic. Having it on rye with yellow mustard, fries and a pickle does sound much nicer. I actually have that IMP Omelet in Salsa menu - now I wanna review that one next. The IMP peanut butter is awesome it has a little extra sugar in it. I'd be trading for that too over a few of the less appetizing menus I've tried so far too. Clam chowder was not so hot either. Awesome comment again Daniel thanks man!
LOL You're going to LOVE the omelet even though I'm still having nightmares about it! Truth is, I was spoiled when I joined the Canadian Forces b/c I was used to my mom's awesome cooking, and only liked a few MRE items like beef stew, cheese whiz & peanut butter. Why do I think you'll love the omelet MRE? Because you've experienced countless meals, most of which I would have used for fishing or hunting bait. Pls find the way to learn from someone who's a no-one, you truly are gifted bro. I can't wait to hear what you think of more delicious, Canadian MREs. :D
Steve, I have to say that in my opinion you’re the best MRE reviewer that I have seen. The others are damn good but your videos are the most entertaining
no matter what stress i had during the day, when i come home and hear that NICE! mmkayyy, i feel so much better. thanks steve1989MREinfo u r the most blessed
Awesome ration review man, those Canadians sure can put together a good Military ration lol.
Hunter Prowse Yet we can't afford boots...
Tsukushi Ikeda anyone who has been in the military knows you can survive and fight without boots but not without food. I personally became a big shit bag the long I go without eating.
Find someone who loves you like Steve loves a good gusset.
"double cream, double sugar" hmm I wonder if us Canadians have a thing for that specific mix of things in our coffee, even maybe have a term for it 🤔🤔
oi lemme get a double double with some poutine, eh?
You are the only MRE reviewer I can enjoy. The rest are just trying to be you. You set the bar high. I really enjoy your sounds effects, music and professionalism. Your choice vocabulary is nice too.
@Steve1989 I'm in Canada. Born and raised. This is a variation of corned beef dinner (typically served with cabbage and mustard at home) corned beef is almost always served with mustard in Canada. It's a staple for holidays or special occasions like st. Patrick's day in most parts and delicious. Its almost like an open faced ruben, hence the bun if you want it that way. One of my favorite meals. Brought over by the Irish
you got a like for using the napkin and using the word gusset
Yessss! So glad you double uploaded!
Me too!
Liked the little bonus footage towards the end nice!
I can’t stop watching these videos. It makes me so hungry and for some reason gives me an urge to eat oatmeal.
Nice gusset. Steve never disappoints! The John Madden of MRE commentary.
Its kinda stupid to say about a ratpak, but i really like the look of the packaging for the Canadian IMPs
Not at all Jonathan! I kinda feel like it has that "Mom's bagged lunch" kinda feel to it. Like ya open it up and there is a ham sandwich, a banana, snack pack pudding, and a chocolate milk. Well, if it had that I'd say it was the best ration ever made.
Wow yeah that's true, the banded stuff(snickers and nescafe) would add to that feeling too. Would be good for morale.
You got the Canadian "double double"
To clarify for Steve and other non Canadians, we'll often order our coffee with double cream double suger, which helps us survive the winter. It's seen as quintissentially Canadian, like to the point where most of us would find it adorable that the Canadian Army hands out instant double-double packets to troops.
The hard core Canadians drink 4x4s!
Used to see some that did 5x5 while I worked at Tims. There's not much room left for coffee at that point lol.
I thought it was an in an out reference and a joke about how the hamburger pain is all pain and no hamburger.
Crap, I posted almost the exact same thing. Shoulda read the comments before posting. :( At least I didn't mention the Forces, but yeah it only makes sense to give our troops instant double-doubles. :-D
Me: Man that looks super good I needa get one of those!!
Also Me: Checks the price
Price: $45
Worth it for the Snickers
I can grab a train and have the real thing for double that price...yet still want to try this...
I’m ready for more Steve. 3 videos in 2 weeks. The best 2 weeks ever
I always had issues with feelings of emptiness until I found out about this channel... brilliant brilliant brilliant
Canada - Making me like them more, one spork at a time.
Good stuff! Looks like the IMP's are improving, my latest reviews were 2014 issue, hoping to lock in to some more recent offerings!
Babish needs to develop a catch phrase so you can reference him back. ... (He's using your thunder, sir). :)
caffeineadvocate what do you mean? Explain.
Paul Nguyen Binging with Babish is a popular cooking channel. He recently used the catchphrase "let's get this onto a tray. Nice." In one of his videos

Ahh an MRE that hits close to home. Always love the Canadian military foods.
I look forward to your videos. I love how you describe all the foods and their taste. Another great video Steve! ❤️
Tough combat conditions there man!

“A little bit on the bottom, a lot everywhere else” 🤣
Hey Steve! You should try some astronaut food!
This IMP looks incredible, I would eat this on a daily.
That coffee pack! I used to buy those when I was in college and hard up for money. They aren’t mind blowing but they got the job done on a cold February morning
I love the state of Jefferson symbol you have on your wall. I used to live in seiad Valley so that hits home. Another thing I have favored about your MRE ration reviews is how descriptive you are, it's like I'm eating them myself.
Ouch, eating a smoked beef without rye bread.
Red sophistication takes time I guess.
ooooooh yeahhhhhh, those are some fine gussets
I got a Christmas advert on this video....... Christmas.... Its bloody June...smh RUclips
I got a combo ad for a 50km from civilization snowmobile lodge and AMS Oil...
RUclips Premium also gets you no ads, AND it supports the channels you watch. $10 a month ain't no thang, especially since it comes with Google Play Music.
Christmas in july
Raccoon and also stops Steve from earning money from RUclips. That's not very nice now is it.
How dissapointed
Bun is to soak up the juices and then put the meat on the bread. There are several sandwiches that do that in their prep..makes it yummy. TY for posting another great video
Awesome, another Steve video doing my home and native land's MRE's proud. Re: the coffee, in Canada we call that the 'double-double' and it's the way to go when getting your morning coffee at Timmy's. (Tim Horton's, Canadian analogue to Dunkin' Donuts.) In the Canadian winter, you need that extra sugar and fat on top of your caffeine, eh!
