      @vegancam 2 года назад +9

      It's way more salty and way less beefy than beef cubes. Very much an umami flavour. As to why? Dunno, it's an Australian thing. Every Aussie kid is raised on Vegemite on toast for breakfast and always a Vegemite sandwich in your lunch box at school. It's definitely an acquired taste but on toast with a good spread of butter, there's nothing like it for an amazingly savoury and sweet (from the butter) boost to the day, packed with vitamins and minerals. My favourite breakfast is Vegemite on toast with a glass of fresh orange juice. Fantastic.

      I don’t understand why they’d pair up some of the items that they do. Nobody eats like that….
      But here, Australia’s meals have things that seem to go together AND there are Aussies co-signing these meals.

      @@Blue-wj4ce I'm a kiwi who is a big fan of Vegemite. It tastes very salty and "yeasty". It's not creamy like peanut butter and holds no sweetness to it (unlike Marmite) it's a savoury topping for sure. A little goes a long way so a new comer to Vegemite shouldn't load it on, just a little thin smear with some butter to counter the saltiness makes it much more palatable.

      Main course aside, it's the same thing with every MREs I'd say. They even use cans as main course in some countries. They just rebadge the items and put them into fancy olive pouches. Oh, and the bread thing is something you won't find in a supermarket.

    • @blackhatfreak
      @blackhatfreak 6 лет назад +4

      Yup, it's supposed to be a moral booster when real hot food isn't around. Of course, depending on the menu item, that moral can be boosted or squashed. Luckily, the U.S. MREs I've had were either okay or damn that's an MRE???? We used to call the from Meals Rejected from Ethiopia, because starvation was funny when I was younger I guess.

    • @IDiggPattyMayonnaise
      @IDiggPattyMayonnaise 6 лет назад +4

      All an MRE is is an extended life versions of typical meals of the given country. Also since most brands already make their products shelve stable its a waste of R&D money to make their own over just using an existing product--especially with the drink mixes and sweets m&ms or granola bars. Those noodles are just Indomie noodles repackaged, so delicious BUT soooo unhealthy.
