Yup, small breakfast (mine is usually a brioche and caffé), big lunch and medium sized dinner. I chuckled when I saw the cappuccino as I have bought that out of vending machines. The breakfast bar I often buy at the local supermarket. It's the same brand but the packaging is a bit more colorful.
It looks like barely edible nonsense food so I'd really hope not
I worked with some Italian engineers in Namibia. The cordial was often added to coffee to make it “cafe correcto” grappa most frequently. Got to love those guys.
THANK YOU!!! as someone that used this rations... those cordiale shots are shit, it's just caramel plastic and alcohol... you HAVE to add it to your coffee to make it "caffe' corretto"!!!!!
"Caffè corretto", we also use to take the shot of grappa after the coffee, we call it "ammazzacaffè" (coffee killer)
A British officer who was captured by the Italians (not an infrequent occurrence during the early part of the war, and vice versa) during the Second World War wrote this in his diary - "Wonderful meal in T. The Italians always had good rations. My grandfather and great-uncles tell me that Italian field rations fed practically the entire Greek Army in 1940.

@@gabrielboi3465 italy army was bad solely because of the higher ups
@@gabrielboi3465 You should contextualize why the logistics sucked. we had emerged from a catastrophe during the 1st world war, and we did not even want to enter 2nd, precisely because we had to recover economically.Hitler guaranteed that he would not invade anyone. In the blink of an eye we too found ourselves in the middle we were on the African front (north and south), in Greece and in support of the Germans. let's say it's more than justified. then obviously we must take into account that the military generals in order to make themselves a good impression also lied about how things were going on the front and the condition of the soldiers.

@@engasal lmao right on
When I was stationed in Italy in the 80’s we could trade an MRE for their rations once and then the Italians learned there lesson and never traded ration one for one again.
Italian here. I tried these a couple of time back in the late '80s. Very complete set. Now they are slightly different and there is more variety.
2012 I was in Afghanistan with the US Army we were out in the field for 12 days and had run out of American MRe's. We worked with the Italians and they were gracious enough to throw some of their food to us. Wow that had to have been the best meals I had ever eaten during that deployment. Yes I drank the cordial in the field.
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing and thanks for your service.
As a Frenchman who's been living in North America for a few years, American food is overall pure shit, no offense. France does have great food, but Italy has even greater food.
Paul American food is all processed while Italian is mostly fresh and organic it’s amazing
I believe any time you get cordial in your MRE, that meal is officially duty free =P
the only truly unique american food is southern style barbeque, ribs/brisket, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw on a plate, im even starting to see burgers and steak as the barbarian meals that they are. Italians tend to drink their coffee very sweet. The reason I think that the instant cappuccino was unsweetened is because the cordial (which was most likely Frangelico [Hazelnut liqueur] or Amaretto [almond liqueur]) is meant to be put into the coffee as its sweetener. Both of them are delicious in coffee (and on vanilla ice cream also).
Cordiale is 40% alcohol, it's not hazelnut liqueur, it's a type of grappa. It's produced directly from the pharmaceutical department of the Italian army, so it isn't a commercial product. You can buy it on their online shop though
Depends but it's true I know alot of people who put a shitton of sugar in coffee

You can kind of tell that the Italian army isn't the most focused on what they're doing. I mean alcohol in a ration pack, lots of clanky metal cans, toothbrushes... Luxury items, but you don't really have time for any of that in actual combat situations. But I guess it's understandable given their track record in recent conflicts. (I mean, if you're losing you can always switch sides :D)

Gordon Hamilton ye, here in Italy that cordiale, or "cordialetto" as it's nicknamed by fellow soldiers, is used for many things, in the morning to wake yo up, at night to warm you up, but the majority just add it to their coffe to make a corretto, the tastiest way to start the day
May not "physiologically" affect your warmth, but there have been many-a-cold nights in the field where a swing of alcohol would have "mentally" warmed me up. Every little bit matters.. Including playing big spoon little spoon with your same gender mates.

It's like something you'd never wanna eat,but it's like Steve advertises them so well you'd definetly wanna try it.! I know i do.
"if we get that out onto a tray it will be looking pretty ---- NICE"
21:35
SED71 exactly what I was thinking lol
SED71 i only watch his videos for when he says nice when things are set on a tray.
It's what makes my life worth living.
You must heat that meats on a can, that gelatin is the gravy
Rip
Sone people like it heated others like it cold.
Nothing Beats watching his videos while having a meal, I swear his description even makes my meal own meal tastier!
I was going to have 1 instant noodle pack and call it a day. While watching this video, not only I have 2 pack of instant noodle, one wet and one dry, also had a bowl of rice, small plate of salami, one cup of Nestle instant coffee, one cup of root beer, and one tab of dark chocolate.
Steve subconsciously make us eat more!
Eating something that would be in a ration like crackers is so good too.
Fuck I love the Italians. Trust them to give actually decent food to their troops. Great video by the way, love your content. I'd never have seen this kind of thing otherwise.
You are so consistently and relentlessly positive even when things aren't that great tasting. It's a nice change from all the misery that the news brings.
If you like this guy’s attitude you should also check out Emmymadeinjapan! She reviews MREs occasionally (she has dozens of MRE videos), and she’s as kind and charming as Steve!
The news brings misery on purpose my friend.
*pop*
"HOLY SH-"
"Hold on lemme put this out"
*SSHHHHRCTCSSSSSSSSZZZZZ*
"That was kinda crazy"
I guess that exploding piece really wanted to, "get out onto a tray." LOL
Nice!
lol. the most extreme moment in the video.
KITTYCAT GREYKCAT 8
You are the best presenter of MRE’s especially the Italian ones.
Meu deus do céu eu simplesmente entrei num looping que NÃO CONSIGO PARAR DE VER ESSES VÍDEOS, mesmo não tendo sentido algum em vê-los.
Steve, so thanks for all this content
Tbh when he said the tablets expand i thought he was eating those expandable towels
"Let's get that onto a tray...Nice!" I feel like would be the best morale booster for any combatant.
I just love when he says “nice!”after putting everything on the tray. I swear it’s the little things, quirks and whatnot that separates the really good content creators from the ones that r just trying to make a buck.
13:34 When the ESBIT stove kind of popped, your reaction made me LOL. 😂 🔥 💥
