When I was young I was a successful amateur motorcycle road racer. When I started racing we were categorized by engine size so everyone had the same power output. I met a tuner who was like a witch doctor and he gave me another 6% hp and I won 10 races in a row. That small difference is applicable to zeiss lenses, some wont even see the difference in the images but for the discerning eye that 6% makes all the difference.

Zeiss was one of the last companies to make lenses the old way i.e. not obsessing over sharpness and various other corrections which require masses of extra elements. Many other vintage lenses have pop as well. Very early Takumar, older Nikon and Schneider Krueznach which are underrated.

Im in the process of moving completely to Zeiss lenses. The only focal lengths missing now are a wide angle and the 135mm. After that I dont think I will ever need to buy another lens unless I plan to shoot wildlife or something exotic like that. Zeiss is just unmatched. Sony G Masters get close but they are too clinical and lack the character.

Couldn't agree more Amar, Zeiss is like a women that gets more attractive every time you see her. I have owned the batis lenses and foolishly let them go, now I have 2 of the loxia lenses and I will never part with them, its more an experience than a lens. I have never used an Otus but I am sure they are everything they claim to be. There are sharper lenses, there are faster lenses but the rendering cannot be matched, IMHO

I think that too, I find the Zeiss lens are special to me when compared to my old classic and new Nikon DSLR lenses. BUT I still keep them and use them when I gets the chance.

You write: "Zeiss is constantly innovating and improving their lens technology, staying at the forefront of the industry", this have been true up until a few years ago, but the latest years Zeiss do not have come up with any new Lens for photograhy. The Zeiss Batis Distagon 25mm 2.0, yes it was very good when it came as new, but today the "king" of 24mm Lenses are the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM. I know Zeiss Lenses from back in time, I got my first Hasselblad Camera in 1983 and have had several Zeiss Lenses. Now I use Sony Cameras and I have Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar 35mm 1.8 ZA, Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 ZA, Zeiss Loxia Distagon 21mm 2.8 and Zeiss Batis Sonnar 85mm 1.8, these Lenses are very good, but Zeiss need to up the game and make new and improved versions to keep up with the competition !

Amarjeet! How are you doing? I did not respond all that much in your latest videos because I took a side path and watched them via the Iphone instead of desktop as usual, a bad habit...... my engagement snapped in half.
    I use 4 Zeiss lenses: 35mm Distagon /50/85/100mm Planar.
I've chosen long time ago to skipp the 28mm for the Voigtländer 28mm pancake in EF mount.
*have skipped the zeiss 25mm for the Native Canon 24mm F1.4 which doubles up as one of 'the best' standard lens someone can have for the aps-c cameras. (yes that includes the Eos R7).
I am skipping all wider Zeiss EF lenses in favour for the EF 11-24L and even that lens I like to use as regular lens on the 7Dm2.
The plastic focus-by-wire RF 24, RF 35 RF 50mm make me scratch my head and let me re-think what my actually gain would be if I would have bought them, and why even buy them when there is the RF28-70 in the background?
Let me tell Amar, your latest 10 videos make my 5Dm4 look good compared to the latest R8 stuff.
If you skipp the video features and 40 fps rolling shutter, and the reality of a a reinvensment for LP17 batteries. The 7 frames fps @30mpx on the 5Dm4 look good.
At the same time I see people still need ninja V recorders on the R5(C) to get the most out of the thing......... just like the 5Dm4.... .Why do we have Cf-express cards in the first place?
I am still happy here with the R7 that I bought late 2022. It gave me the opportunity to buy and play the metabones speed booster that all Panasonic MFT where in heaven for.
And I absolute love the Zeiss 85mm Planar on that thing. (it behaves like the RF-s 60mm F1.4 is already released).
I want to set the goal of using the Zeiss 35 + speed booster upcoming month, which would give me a nearly 40mm FOV @ F1.4.
Let me put it this way: had the R7 not come out, I probably would have bought an used GH4/ G85 and Metabones MFT booster instead just to figure out what a speed booster meant to me.
I still dislike the R7 properties of not having the vertical flash setting EVF display that the 7Dm2 has, the R7 being slower on mechanical FPS in freezing weather outside and the fact the R7 not having a pop-up flash. *Yes I know the official manual of the R5/R7 mentioned 15fps At 23Celsius rated... which it will only be for 4 months/year in my European climate :(
Plus: let's not forget the C-raw 2 vs C-raw 3 debate! The 24 mpx raw files that came out of the 80D/ M6 camera's are just a bit faster to upload to my pc, which I still see as a big plus.
I remember back in 2016 when you where sharing a first hand-on review of the 5Dm4 + 35mm F1.4 II in Disneyland America. At one point there was talk about having to pass out your own camera as a photographer and let a stranger operate the camera to take a picture of yourself, which is possible in the 5Dm4 because of it's live view focus and just random people being capable of figuring that out. Which will probably be the same in 2023 when passing out any RF camera and people using the back screen of the camera instead of the EVF.
On lenses like the EF 40mm and EF20-35 (old-timer) I still let family/stranger take pictures of me with the 5Dm4 from time to time.
My family got used to the fact of me owning a R7 and using the EF-24mm F1.4 over the adapter via live-view focus they can handle the camera in the same way which I let them a few times.
The latest Canon RF-s 55-210 lens made me worry a little bit, Canon closed down the aperture even more..... I own 3 camera bags, I bought the smallest one with the fought of it being capable of carrying the 80D + EF-S24mm + 55-250 STM and a spare battery, nothing more.
Then the 70-300 Nano USM came out and I realised this camera bag can take that one instead of the 55-250 and so I replaced that one as well...Never had any interesse of the EF-m or EF-s anymore. This is applies to the new RF-s 55-210 as well. At the same time we've all seen the EF-m 15-45 being stripped into a RF-S 18-45. Basically loosing the ''24mm FF look''.
I do not like to speak out the following but I am afraid the re-release of the Canon EF-m into RF-s 22mm and 32mm F1.4 being compromised on either their aperture, plastic built quality or listening prices. I am on the fence of buying the pancake RF 25mm Tartisans lens.
Amar are you truly happy with camera's and their lens selections for your M5/M50/R7/30D or is it just the fact you are capable of being to adapt the EF24 1.4 / Zeiss 55mm at any giving time. And being able to re-produce a 35mm and 85mm lens in the crop cameras?

My problem with people like you is that you only talk and never show side by side comparison of the same scene taken with two lenses. It's all words and no substance. You can talk as much as you can, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Then there is another level of it, where people show pictures but still no comparison, as if they were trying to suggest that it's not your skills, or the light, but something about the lens, but again with no way to prove it. Then another layer is giving you the comparison but the parameters of the lenses are totally different, with longer focal length or bigger aperture, as Cmaera Conspiracies guy is doing all the time :D It just goes on and on and on, because it really takes someone dedicated to truth to establish something factual, as opposed to someone dedicated to proving their point. So far none of the lens pop/zeiss truthers I saw on youtube managed to produce evidence to their claims, which is telling, considering how easy it is to do. Just yesterday I saw a clip where a guy showed two pictures but kept quiet about the lenses so we don't even know what settings were on or any other details including the postproduction :D
All you need is two identical cameras, which is something that every pro should have, or just one and swap the optics really quick, then find two lenses with the same focal length, set them to the same exposure settings and white balance, then crop whatever difference is there, remove vignetting and analise the results without any further adjustments. Then you can convert it to black and white or whatever. You can use filters to analyse detail, but really, if the effect is so profound and important, then maybe we don't need all this to prove it. It should be evident at first glance, right? If it's easy then it should have been done long ago and many times over, right?

@@camerasutra247 I agree that talk is cheap, but you are the one talking :D
You know why it's obvious that a good merc is good? Because we can measure it. It's easy to express proof of quality, reliability, luxury in cars. We can look at numbers, we can show the gadgets, we can look at reports.
The reason why companies like Sigma are winning and Zeiss is losing is because Sigma delivers the kind of performance that can be measured and therefore it's very easy to verify whether that claim is real.
If you want to prove that Zeiss has some quality that Sigma doesn't, then find a way to measure it. This is way simpler than people think. In audio people found ways to characterize quality by doing psychoacoustic reasearch, where they produce data revealing what people like and what they don't like. That's how today quality audio is a merc but at the price of a Corolla. You can pay $20 and get a transparent sound in your earphones. In order for that to happen you need to first believe that quality can be understood.
You are choosing the other way. In my opinion the reason why Zeiss lost is because it was marketed towards gatekeepey romantic dreamers who don't want to believe the quality is measurable, which in turn convinced other people that it's a scam. Build quality is nice, but you can get it with lenses of other make too, including Samyang.
