This video is so helpful! I was wondering the difference when it came to sizes and names. I'm just starting with my doll hobby and purchased a 27cm doll (1/6 scale) to start off, but once I get her done, I'd like to move up in size as their sooo beautiful. Plus it helps as I make all my clothing & accessories by hand (& sewing machine, if necessary - I prefer hands on though) so this is a great video to help me with sizes & all! Thanks for posting!

Chalk pastels are what you need and are safest :D I use mungyo pastels :D
There are some nice ones on mint on card :D And I loveeee me some Tata's Paradise clothing too :D
Nice video! This will help people ALOT. Anyways, I find that MSD sized wigs are a bit big for the Resinsoul/Bobobie Mei. She actually can fit into a YOSD 6-7" wig very well. Like everyone says, it's all about the research lol

Well I would look into different companies because within the MSD 1/4 range there are lots of different sizes...doll leaves makes 42cm boys and like Dream of Doll makes 45cm boys. So you could get 2 MSD ranged and just find companies that have good heights.

Yep people sometimes can be real snobs about their SD'S or whatever they're called if there ball jointed their ball jointed and if their sizes are all different all I know is I collect the 1/3 60 cm or 24 in off AliExpress because I'm cheap and broke not trying to impress anybody but myself so I so get you I feel screwed asking questions too
@@shantellrichardson7814 yeah there is a bit of pressure at times. AliExpress has some great deals on BJD accessories. You may already know or if in case you don't, when it comes to dolls though a lot of them are recasts. It's definitely your decision on what you buy but I know there are some people that buy them not knowing that info 👍

Yue sneaks onto Asenva's computer while she's not looking and orders ten pairs of trousers on Asenva's husband's credit card. She then sneaks back on her shelf looking all innocent. :D
If no one has a converter i found a way to do it on a calculator. Just take the number in centimeters and divide by 2.5 and that's how big it is in centimeters. You can do i backwards too just for thous who don't know.
Oh a pukifee :D there are different places in which you can get clothes for them. Mint on card has some you just have to check the size and make sure it is for 16cm dolls :D I am not sure if you are talking about my YO with the crown? She is a fantasy doll Kemi
Yup :3 it is funny because we all use those terms to size our own dolls when really it is a VOLKS size. It's kinda like if we started calling all MSD 1/3 dolls minifees lol

I have only just discovered this wonderful world of dolls and customising. I cats afford one of these large beauties just now but, and I fear to say in in front of such aficionados, I did manage to get a MH Frightfully Tall DracuLaura & FT Gooliope Jellington from EBay just to dip my toe in the water with. When it comes to them might you have any idea of what size they would be compared to?
I largely bedbound due to chronic illness and having found this amazing and fascinating world has been a godsend these last few weeks.

Hey there friend! So the larger MH dolls that are 17 inches are approximately 43cm. The BJD hobby goes by cms and those MH dolls are the equivalent to a MSD. MSD dolls are 42-50cm in range. However the proportions I feel may be a bit different when you compare a MH doll to a MSD BJD. Hope this helps hun!
lolol awwwwww yeah thats how it is with some of my SDs lol cause they are all so different!! lol but I can't sew so I just have to pick and choose with clothing lolol XD
Idk if this helps but my ResinSoul Mai wears slim MSD clotgse and her wig size is a 6/7 and fits best with a wig cap or a rubber band.

Ohhh mannnn yeah he is a crazy skinny guy! Right now he is wearing guess doll jeans (from Denverdoll) anddddd dollmore woulldd be awesome if they made longer pants. I haven't tried buying actual jeans from them but I know the slacks are too short. Pants from Tatas and Alices collection are a bit too big for him :( I want to try getting girl pants and putting them on him and seeing if maybe that will work :S
If anyone was wondering, 70cm is just a little bit over 1/2 scale. lol

CRAFTYPUMPKIN1 Hmmm not sure :s I don't own any Volks dolls :S I Would just look up it's measurements and compare it to like a standard company and see how they differ or are similar :3

it all depends on the height if the is 1/3 she will usually wear 8-9 inch if she is 1/4 she will usually wear 7-8 inch IDK about the others but if u look in the description of the doll it will tell u the head size in centimeters so just multiply by 0.394 to get the inches hope this helps

I was curious which companies and sizes are the easiest to buy for? I am looking at yosd. I am liking several on IslandDoll or Dollzone. At the moment I am looking for versatility in clothing because I wont be able to really afford getting more than one or two dolls. What would you recommend? I really like your videos. Thank you.

Something I was just wondering is that I have two characters that I am going to make into dolls. One is 16, the other is 13. I plan on making the13 yr old as an msd, but I don't know what size would be accurate for the 16 year old...

Howdy and sorry for the late response >_< Yes she is in the 1/6 scale I think the 1/4 shirts mayyy be too big since those are the MSD size. They are kinda skinny dolls :o skinny enough that they can wear barbie clothes :o

Maybe you can help will a 1/6 bjd head fit on a 1/8 bjd body I can't find the answer anywhere I'm trying to recreate a newborn but the body I have I don't like the head and I'm no good at face ups and it is my smallest doll only bc I'm expecting and want it but everyone elts is 60 cm
I would try to look for 11cm dolls. Obitsu makes some and so does Mystic Kids I believe :)

That converts to 7 inches :D so depending if its a little or big doll it might be a 6-7 or 7-8

Those are all VOLKS dolls :D You can go to the VOLKS page to see the sizes they list there :D Some companies will even specify if it is a SD13 or SD17 clothing (tatas paradise does that)

Sooo some inexpensive companies that are out there right now are Hujoo and Bobobie/Resinsoul...butttt a word of caution...you honestly really want to go with what you gut wants...even if it costs a bit more and you have to save up for it :3 In the end you are going to be with this doll and you want to make sure you are 100% happy :D
