Very interesting that you say that. I think you are right that you do have to have a mature mind set, but I don't think that is limited by age. There are some young people in this hobby who are very knowledgeable, passionate, and involved. Even younger people have to work hard to save for this hobby and therefore experience those hardworks as well. I think you will find mixtures of people in all hobbies with some members who are more or less experienced than others :) Thanks for watching :D

@MinYmbt If it has a faceup on it then it should already have a coat of MSC. I wouldn't recommend putting on a coat again because if your faceup has gloss or shine on it, you may loose it with the spray because it has a matte finish. But no worries it should be sealed. The body on the other hand though could use a coat, unless they tell you they are coating it.
I'm getting my first BJD in March and I'll still be 14. When I asked my mom if I could get one, she was very supportive and thought the doll was gorgeous!
@cricketprincess1988 MSC can be purchased at the junkyspot website. There are other things that you can get as substitutes but MSC is highly recommended.

@THELIBBYSHOWrules You can clean them up with magic clean erasers :D Or for tougher crazier stuff you can use a brush cleaner like Winsor and Newton (but don't use it around a faceup unless you want to remove it) Mmm some people keep them in their boxes...I just keep them on my shelf and just make sure that the sun isn't hitting them. It all kinda depends on how OCD you want to be :)

I already have 1 pullip 2 taeyangs and 2 dal dolls ( also not very cheap dolls around about 250 at the most for jsut one) and I am 12 turning 13 and my parents still think that my doll hobby is a waist of money .. but they finally let me get my first bjd ^^ yet i am still desiding on witch one xD .. OH and this video was a great help I jsut love how you take time out of your life to make these for others. Your a really nice person
@shigurezan Um it really depends. Some you can buy full set limited edition and sometimes you can just purchase the doll alone. I would have to see which one you are looking at in order to see with you if it is just being sold as a full set or if you can buy it nude :3
Yeah. As long as you understand the value of the dolls, and can maintain them, I don't think it matters how old you are. I'm 12 and I have my first bjd on the way... The only thing I'm scared of is restringing him. (he's a Bobobie Apollo so I know that I'm going to have to do it eventually)

I think that if you do you research and just make sure you get a pretty good grip on how to take care and manage these dolls then you should be fine. Just look up videos, blogs, and forums for help and advice :D
@JulieBulie360 Yeah unfortunatly since it is such a popular site they will close registration down now and then to kind of clean it up. They have it set to invite only meaning if you know someone...they can send you a pass and then you can get in. Other than that...its just a waiting game until they open it up again :S Which last time it did take a couple of months but they did in fact open it up again.

Hi! I have a question. I have during a very long time been interested in bjds and dolls in general, but have never dared to buy one because of the prices. Well now I have finally decided to actually save some money to buy a doll but I have problem choosing which one. I have two choices. The first one is an MD who I love which also is rather cheap (included with wigs etc) and fits my budget better. The second one is a SD who I also love, it's a lot more expensive and I will only be able to get the doll and no accessories. But I do believe I like the size and her overall feel a bit better than the other one. So I have no idea what to do. Wants and hope that one day I can get both but just can't decide which one I should buy first. Please give me some advice! (Sorry for my horrible English btw)

Hmmm that is tough...mainly if you can't find any reviews on them. I would continue to research it, double check forums and make sure the company is alright in all angles. It is hard to just look at a website and determine if their dolls are good or not :S You really need to know if peeps have purchased from them or not in order to get good insight :S If not, you may be taking a risk >_

I myself am more into Obitsu dolls despite the fact that I only have one little chibi vinyl figurine. They work in different matter than BJD's do since they're not string-jointed and are pure vinyl. You can also try to get in doll making hobby, it's more risky and more adultish than collecting any professional-built dolls (including ones like barbie basics and pullips), also OOAK artist dolls in my opinion have more collector's value. I have tried to make figurines out of clay but failed 2 times. I still want to make a BJD or at least a little figurine, if not an action figurine, out of clay. And I'm 21. Also: Avoid DoA and other invite-only elite places at all costs!!!

To be honest, the main reason why I would get/make a doll/figurine is not its collecting value, not its rarity etc, but the whole fact that I love it ^-^ When making a doll it's important to keep in mind what you would be making, otherwise it will be just disorganized... why I would make a doll that I'd dislike? even when customizing nude dolls we would rather make a character that we would actually like...
Urgh, this is all so aggravating since I'm saving up my Xmas/birthday money AND the money I got from selling my old clothes and I'm only $98 away! I find since I started buying dolls, I feel about them exactly how I feel about my pets xD Also, I started making clothes for them and made a Facebook page blog thing for them - with it like it's them blogging (sad I know but it helps me vent creative energy xD) so I feel it helps with artistic inspiration (: However, they are expensive but I'm 22 so I can actually pay for most of it myself. I dunno how I would've done it when I was younger!

But honestly if there is something that you find that you really like, then I would just go ahead and save for it bit by bit :3 Most Yo-SDs can cost anywhere from the 100s to the 400s. It really depends on what you like and where you buy them from :)
Actually I'm getting a doll and I'm only 11. But me, when I say I'm going to be careful, I REALLY AM CAREFUL. My brother is going to get 11cm Parabox mini doll. And you might be mad at how young he is. He is 5.

Then , just now i bought them obitsu body's and got my first actual bjd , a baby hujoo which should be arriving soon . 3) my parents found it a waste of money . but i insisted , so they but me the first doll . then they let me buy the other 2 but got mad . finally a year later i bought the rest.

Obitsu dolls are great! I really love the larger scale ones like the 50cm and 60

I have (on my wishlist) like 5 boys (different sizes ) i realize on friday that i need a girl so i looked and looked and fell in love with Daphne from Doll Chateau.

thnkz 4 d vid... it helps sooo much ... i want a bjd but then i got tooo much hobby and spent too much money..=-= and my mum said im too irresponsible for one.. but then i ended up talking about bjds 24/7 and it reelly annoyed my friends but then ill try and convince her again XP

If she is still hung up on you being a guy and wanting one then I would recommend that you show her some of the guys videos we have here on youtube. There are some amazing and nice guys here on youtube that have BJDs too :3 It totally is not just a "girl" hobby. GL and hang in there!
