@6751mmk the cleaner that I am holding is called Winsor and Newton Brush Cleaner :D It can be found in most craft stores and it runs about 5 bucks a bottle :3 As far as sun goes with dollies...I don't think you are going to see any major changes to your doll (because of the photo-shoot you had) but I would recommend making sure that there is MSC on them and that you give them breaks during the next photo-shoot :3
@0Malaya0 :D Sooooo you could give it a go, just be careful on how hard and long you scrub for because you could take off the MSC that is on her. Try it dry first and if that doesn't work try it a tinnnnnnnnnnnnnnny bit wet. It needs to be almost a dry wet lol if that makes sense because the sponges are MEGA absorbent and you only want it a tad wet :) hope this helps!
@komishika I totally agree with you on the fact that the surgical mask will do absolutely nothing. I did not intend to give the impression that if you use a surgical mask when you spray that you will be A.O.K. Luckily my boyfriend has a heavy duty mask (with the filters on the side) that he lends me :D I was just saying that it is important to spray in a well ventilated area and with some protection. I truly appreciate your wisdom and comments! :D Thank you for the fantastic insight!
Hi again, thanks so much for your quick reply and answer about the cleaner. I think I will stay with overcast weather or indoor (during daylight) photoshoots. =)
@MiKaKo22 The erasers will take off any smudges that may get on the resin, but you would have to realllly scrub at it to get off any of the work that is there already. You should always use caution though whenever you are working on the face ups :3 I use as many coats of MSC I need during a face up. Sometimes it is 3-4 layers :D But if you are doing a touch up then I would recommend 1-2 coats :3 There are rumors about reversing yellowing but it is just an inevitable thing that will happen :S
@spentellit Actually I finally did try putting that elastic in andddd I had to really work it on to the S-hooks buttt lik you said they do pose better with that thicker elastic! It just stinks cause you really have to put it on those S hooks hard >_< Thanks!
@animejesuslover Thanks for watching :D For reals you used the string??? I dunno if it would fit my boys hooks lol that's why I didn't and haven't used the string XD That's cool it worked for you though :D
@RainbowTuna Thanks XD Lol the toxins are strong but I am not going to be dying any time soon lol. MSC is like most aerosols in the way that it releases toxins that are not good to breath in. Leading back to the respirators lol they aren't going to totally kill me in a few months or anything just because I use a standard surgical mask, but if I wanted ultimate ultimateeeeeeeeeeeeee protection I would use a ventilated mask similar to those that are used for pesticides :D
@AsenvaBJD ha yeah I really used it, and it fit the s hooks i got from mint on card perfectly! my girl is a sd so yeah :) i was happy it worked I didnt want to have to get any from like luts because its like 20 dollar shipping :/ same with dollmore!
@gensoyuuki86 :3 hmmm well try the kneaded eraser, or cut up a polymer eraser and see if it comes off :D Thennnnn see if maybe you can use a magic eraser lightly (dry) :3 Good luck!!!!
@KoisuruMarionnette lolololol K you are like awesome ninja pro with commenting first and commenting on everyones videos lololol :D awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeee Glad you liked the video :3 Part 2 is loading :3
@gensoyuuki86 Oh wow...yikes that is hard mainly if it is on the face-up. Do you have photos of it? I am wondering if you can cut up a polymer eraser and see if you can get it off with that. You could also try maybe just using the magic eraser dry and doing it very carefully. I would have to see it to see what options you would want to give a go >_< Yikes I hope it comes off for ya.
:D thanks for the tips! also I bought elastic string from mint on card(the same as you have) I actually restrung my doll with that elastic and it worked really well :) my soony poses better! I know it is really thick haah!
haha xd I love this : D thank you so much for making these video's and I love the way you say my name. de zwarte paard means "The black horse" since I made my youtube acount when I was still riding horse. so you whas talking dutch :p now going to watch part 2. :3
@AsenvaBJD and @RainbowPowBJDs There is also the MSC UV Cut :) It helps prevent 'yellowing' that is caused from the UV (aka ebil sun!) +Yellowing is not 100% Preventable due to the fact that the resin oxidizes over time. But yeah :3 UV Cut Is deff worth the extra 2$! ^___^ And as always, Love your videos Asenva :3
I'm surprised the elastic wouldn't work for Kai :P I got the same stuff, and I used it on my Feng, it was thick, but actually caused him to pose 10x better :) The only challenge was trying to get his s hooks to hook onto it >_
@AsenvaBJD well actually you really cant see in the picture even my friends cant see it that much when you didnt look at it closely, its like a dark tiny linear scuff mark dark black like thingy, since that i look at the face ups of my doll very closely, i suddenly noticed that he has the mark............im thinking if i could use a kneaded eraser...or just use a magic block very gently......thank you for giving me suggestions>
@AsenvaBJD Ya, I agree, and I think it may have made the posing in his hands worse though >:P I had to have my mom help me by stretching th elastic while I put the S hook on XD
i have a bjd stain on neons face, and its on his face up, i dont know if its a stain, because it looks like a dark mark or something, i tried using damped water and cotton buds,, and put a liitle soap, but it didnt work....im really upset with it.....some says dont use magic eraser cuz it might wore out....
Hi in 3:17 you mention a "cleaner" - I did not quite understand the name of the "cleaner" in the can? Also, if one (not knowingly) did a photoshoot out in some sunlight for around 15-20 minutes - will that have hurt my BJD?
Why do you seal the doll after you clean it? How often do you need to clean your dolls? I am very new to this hobby and am going to order my first doll DC Agatha in a couple of months!
Hey, I hope I'm not too late to answer you! That's super exciting you're starting in this hobby. You may already have your doll by now? XD Sealing the doll helps protect the resin from becoming stained, or deeply stained to where you can't get it off. It will help stains from clothing and hair come off easily, and will also help make sure that the face up doesn't do any harm. And cleaning your dolls really depends on how much they're used, and how dirty they become. You can usually just go over them with the Mr clean Magic eraser to give them a nice clean. I'd suggest to do that at least once a month or so. Then you can deep clean them when they seem like they need it. But deep cleaning would involve taking the face up off, and any other make up that's on the doll. And completely disassembling it. So you should deep clean the doll at least once or twice a year. It wouldn't hurt if you'd like to do it more than that either. But I'd make sure to keep them on clean surfaces, and try to wash your hands before you touch them, to prevent the oil from your skin dirtying the resin. I hope this was helpful! :)
Thank you! I have decided to wait a little before I order my doll so your timing is just fine! This answers all of my questions! Again, thank you so much!
Simone May Yes of course! I'm glad I was on time! I'm glad you are joining the hobby, I hope you enjoy it! It's exciting but also very patient testing when waiting for your doll. Congratulations for when you order her! :D I also forgot to mention that the sealant helps protect the resin from UV rays so it also won't yellow as quickly. Soo, it's pretty useful. :D XD
@RainbowPowBJDs The spray is for the whole doll. It protects the resin from stains and sun to some extent. It is really good to have on your doll :D
