    I'm getting into this because I need my art skills to transfer to a hobby that is just mine so I don't experience burn out from doing art as a new part time job. This helps.
    These dolls will be just for me and no one else. I was going to get a 3D printer to make them and while I might for repair parts I want to make these by hand.
    I use to love dolls as a girl so very much and I think it would be both novel and nostalgic to make them.
    Are there any online communities to join for more info on this?

    I know you showed the elastic sizes and thickness here, but what do you recommend for 70cms (doll leaves 70cm body to be specific). They're quite tricky with how some 1/3 things fit for them and some don't and I'm afraid of buying a much too small size for my boy and wasting money since I only have him and one other doll on the way hah

    Is it worth making plastic skeleton and joints instead of using elastic?

    • @AsenvaBJD
      @AsenvaBJD  3 года назад

      😯 I don't think that's ever been done before with resin dolls. I would be very intrigued to see one made. It would have to be pretty strong and sturdy in order to hold up the resin weight.

    • @AsenvaBJD
      @AsenvaBJD  3 года назад +1

      Most vinyl dolls utilize a skeletal system. I think it would definitely need some adjustments in order for it to be put into resin.

    Well, this makes me a little less fearful. Thanks for the video. I wonder why you don't put the knot of the body string inside the body, like the one of the arms. Most dolls I have just show the 2 strings at the neck with the S hook through that. No knot visible. The doll I need to restring actually has a double knot inside its head, so impossible to get the head off. The knot simply won't pas through the slit in the head. That is why I need to restring it. The shirt I need to put on cannot go over the head.

    • @AsenvaBJD
      @AsenvaBJD  Год назад +1

      You can totally put the knot inside too 👍 the reason Agu l why I like it up top is that I can make adjustments if needed later on. I can untie the knot and make it tighter or loosen it. Also sometimes with 2 part torsos having all that in the middle sometimes messes with the joints. But you can do it however suits you ❤️❤️❤️❤️ glad it could ease your fears a bit 😍 just take your time and you’ll do great 👍

      @@AsenvaBJD It went fine. And it didn't even take very long. Now I'm much more confident to tackle a few other dolls. I like buying second hand dolls, some more than 10 years old. Give them a new life. The seller often mentions "needs restringing". Then I used to think erm... right... But no longer. Thanks again for the video. I will watch a few more of you. Face-up is also something that interests me, but there I''m afraid that besides confidence you also need skill 😄

    If I have a doll that cant lift her head & folds to her knees does it mean that its overstrung? And what to do?

    • @AsenvaBJD
      @AsenvaBJD  Год назад

      Howdy! So basically when your doll snaps into positions or their knees kick in fast instead of standing it might be too tight. You can loosen the knot or just restring all together if you want :)

  • @EagleVision1999
    @EagleVision1999 4 года назад +1

    How do I know wether my doll is to tightly strung or needs thicker elastic (or both)? Because my ResinSoul could use some improvement. She could stand right out of the box, but she's always trying to kneel, which would suggest loosening the strings, but then I look at her hip joints and it looks fine. The feet move a lot, too. They're not massive issues, but I think I'd like to fix them sometime soon.

    • @AsenvaBJD
      @AsenvaBJD  4 года назад

      Hiya! So does your dolly's leg swing back and forth when you hold it up and move it side to side? ResinSoul dolls usually come strung very loose. I don't think I've got one in that I didn't restring/tighten the strings for.

    • @EagleVision1999

      I'm working on a 1/6 scale bjd as a 3d printing exercise... Checking out how-to-rig videos to see how they go together. If you're still looking for hooks, I made my own from some 0.051" (1.3 mm) lock wire I had from another project. Worked out well for the head and foot S hooks. I'm going to look at some 0.041" (1.0 mm) or some 0.032" (0.8 mm) for the hands.

    • @AsenvaBJD
      @AsenvaBJD  3 года назад +1

      Yes so it is going to be important to find out what string you are going to need for your dolly. Sometimes for the really small ones they use the clear elastic too.
