    • @ledchickenfpv7164
      @ledchickenfpv7164 2 года назад +2

      @@ayocloudz Yeah, there were a couple of problems that had me stumped for a bit. One was that I could have sworn I had updated the BIOS to a revision that included support for the 5600X, but when I went back to double check that, it turned out I was still running on a BIOS that predated support for the 5600X being added. The second problem was that to give myself a little more room to work with, I'd decided to temporarily use the cooler that came with the 5600X instead of the Cooler Master "tower" type I'd installed to quiet my system down a bit, and it turned out that the replacement mount that goes on the bottom of the motherboard that came with the Cooler Master cooler kept the stock cooler from making contact with the top of the CPU, so it kept shutting off on me because the CPU kept getting too hot after a few seconds. Apparently the threaded standoffs on the mount that came with the CM cooler are a little taller than on the one that came with the motherboard. Once I figured out what the problems were and after updating the BIOS and going back to the cooler that actually makes contact with the CPU, everything now works the way it should. I'm still a little stumped by the BIOS thing, but I think the most likely explanation is that I got confused with the rev numbers. Are you having a similar problem you're trying to figure out?

    @durbledurb3992 Год назад +44

    Just did this upgrade from 2600 to 5600x. Well worth it, especially considering the price of the 5600x at the moment. One thing that may help people doing this - make sure that your F60 BIOS flash hasn't reversed before you install your new CPU. Mine did it, but I hadn't checked right before dropping in the new CPU, and so I paniced when there was no POST. Putting back in the 2600 showed that the BIOS had gone back to F35 (no idea why, possibly it was simply trying to boot on the other BIOS as the mobo is dual BIOS). I flashed it again, put the new CPU in, and all was fine.
    Thaks for the help, PC Jack

    Do we have to uninstall any driver/software before this? Like Ryzen Master? Or is just:
    1- Make sure bios ver. is the latest (check & upgrade if not)
    2- Ground yourself & disconnect all cables from the motherboard
    3- Clean & Replace
    4- Check if it's installed properly in bios menu

    I was planning to upgrade my 2600x to a 5600 in the near future, with the recent BIOS update showing compatibility for it on official page sometime in August.
    I have a msi B450M Bazooka V2.
    The recent BIOS download shows the AGESA 1.2.0.7 update.
    You think I’d be good and able to boot on a 2600x if I update it?
    Or should I wait until I get the 5600 then try updating the bios in case it doesn’t boot?
    I’ve heard a lot of people having troubles with not being able to boot on older Ryzen CPUs in the past with new bios updates supporting Ryzen 5000.

    If you’re starting a fresh build with a b450 and a ryzen 5600x, how do you update the bios? My understand is your rig is already up and running on a older ryzen chip so you’re able to access the website and get the drivers. But what about starting fresh?

    • @PCJack
      @PCJack  2 года назад +2

      In that case you would need a CPU that's already compatible to install in the motherboard in order to update the BIOS and then swap with the 5600X. However depending what B450 motherboard you have it could have a feature called BIOS flashback which allows you to update the BIOS without a CPU installed. At this point though there's a strong chance that buying a new B450 motherboard today will already have the up to date BIOS as it's been nearly 2 years since Ryzen 5000 series launched now.
