- Hey friends! Today’s video is a throwback to our last house. We took a blank slate small backyard and transformed it into an oasis for our family. This renter friendly backyard makeover shows includes a DIY patio, setting up a sun shade sail, a small play area for the kids and more! This is the thing I miss most about this house! Once we moved out, the owners bought the patio pavers from us so it totally worked out. Let me know what you think 💙

I am SO PROUD to see people take pride in their homes especially when it is a rental. The landlord at one of the last rentals that my husband and I lived in returned our deposit and a bonus! Nice work!

I'm so intimidated by our seemingly unmanageable back yard, but all of these projects look doable for me and made such a big impact. I'm inspired!!!
Take on small projects over time and it won't seem so unmanageable. Do a little every day, even ten minutes worth of weeding or cleaning up will make a huge difference over time. Set a timer on your phone for ten or fifteen minutes and when it's done, either stop or keep going if you're up to it. Not only will it motivate you but it will also give you extra serotonin from touching the dirt. Yes, playing around in dirt (weeding, planting, etc.) gives that boost we all love and need. Being in the sun does too! So that's aj added bonus. Just don't forget your sunscreen! ✌️

After a few terrible tenant's I just got one who is wonderful. What a stress relief. Good tenant is so appreciated.
Yep, my tenant leave the outdoor tap on and reported defect, I have to pay for $200 plumber call out fee to shut the tap.

We rented a house the last 7 years and we took care of it like it was our own. Our landlord loved us and we had a great relationship. We just bought a home and close next week! So we're finally moving on to our very own home and I cannot wait.

Your family did a terrific job as first timers. I too did thus in 2001 and the only thing left for the concrete team to do was rear and pour concrete. So, I know how you each rested after this. Kudos❤❤❤!!!
This is truly a labor of love. I also live in South Florida, and this is just so important to our way of life, however, it is not an easy task. You guys did an awesome job. Everything looks so beautiful. Congrats on a job well done.

Y'all are such hard workers! I am sad that you didn't get to enjoy all of your hard work, but when my husband was watching this and the front yard makeover with me, he said...I really hate it that they are spending so much money on the yard since it is a rent house! We have, however, done a lot of painting and work on places we have rented just because I didn't want to live there unless we did! :) I believe you will have a backyard someday soon for you to enjoy! God will bless you back for all that you did! It's all beautiful! And you have a gift to make everything so pretty working with what you have!

I always did that even when I lived in an apartment. I would paint one wall as an accent wall, fix up the kids room and enclosed our patio. The landlord loved it so much he wanted me to leave it as I had redone it when I left.
I’m so glad there are others that do the same as me. It is our home after all where we live! Might as well enjoy it while we’re there 💜

It look great! I'm planning to lay tile and exhausted my funds. I have the tiles, lining and an abundance of top soil. I was considering using topsoil in place of sand but didn't know if it would work. After a month of video surfing I found your video and it give me all the confirmation I need . Thank you! ❤

Nice backyard. We did the same thing with the planter and the posts and added metal cleats to tie the rope, it helped adjust quickly the for bad weather.
So nice that your Mom and their Grandson are helping your Dad....no need to pay for construction worker😊

Thank you for this project DIY! I'm in desperate need of a sun shade on my back patio! It's in the sun from 10:30 to sunset! I love my, (12' x 16') cement patio, but can not even stand the sun and heat out there after that time, and it's such a wasted outdoor space for me! I've tried patio umbrellas but the wind takes them. One time it blew it up and onto the roof! I think I can do this though, and sink the 4x4's into the ground at the end of the patio instead of the planter barrels, as I own the house, so no one to complain or sensor what I do. Yay! I live in northern NY so we don't have a lot of quality time outdoors, so this will help me tremendously, thanks again! Also, you guys did an amazing job, but sorry you had to move. I hope you are able to buy your own place one day. I bet it'll be gorgeous! Subscribed!

Oh my gosh that turned out beautiful compared to what it looked like it was so plain and boring now it's welcoming and brand new looks like a patio That you see in some of these brand new houses and you have the help of your dad which is awesome...... I bet the landlord loved it and was very impressed because you did an upgrade to their property

I love it when renters make a home beautiful. I’m the same way. I have to have a livable space. If you’re next to a property that doesn’t offer the greatest view, a roll of bamboo fencing is a very affordable way to add privacy and beauty to an area. I I see it on top of my very weathered wood privacy fence. At $30 per roll, it’s a very inexpensive way to restore an ugly fence -v- spending thousands of dollars to replace it. And it is SUPER easy to install.
