Where the violin kind of bridges the sound of the mandolin, really makes me lean in. Didn't know what it was I was hearing. Thanks for posting. I'd like to find more of their music. Sierra's voice is quite magnificent. Something throaty, sibilant, and articulate. Also love the down, plaintive note on the 'cello that takes you into the sadness of the song. Musicianship at its very best. This is such a fantastic rendition. Yes, Roland and Curtis supplied the raw material, but wow! A masterpiece of a song, beautifully covered.
She is soooooo talented. I didn’t know this song, but this is a sublime performance by her and the whole group here. Is there anything Sierra can’t do? She has such a sweet voice and really knows how to use it in a way that seems almost effortless but which draws out such feeling.

Bass Violin and Sierra are awesome with her vocals and mandolin skills. I'm 64 and played with many musicians in my time but I have never heard a lead Solo like that (towards the end) with the mandolin. She blew my mind Well done.
If only the mandolin had calmed down and didn’t give away the entire melody before the song even started in some weird pseudo-solo at the beginning. This would have been my favorite current cover of this song, but unfortunately they needed to do that for some reason.
I'd had no idea. Sierra's a goddess on the mando, but she can sing too?!? And the girl can SING! Sierra has the gift, and we are all the better for it when she shares.
Sierra, you may never read this but, my son just passed away then I came across this. Your song helped me to process, cry and mourn his passing in such a deep way. Hard to explain. The shirt your drummer is wearing has an image that very much looks like my son. "Levon" sounded to me like live-on, while Levon means "Lion". It was a message to me telling me my son lives on while he is now with the "Lion" Yeshua. Yes it' feels like a mad world but in the sorrow of this song there was confort too. Thank You so much.
Bloody fantastic!! Great control and dynamics from the band, such a sensitive lovely voice…. and killer mandolin solo…. I mean killer! Great work guys.
@@Azamra18 I had tickets to two of the three Nickel Creek shows at the Ryman that got canceled in April because Chris was sick. Anyone who had tickets to one of the canceled shows (which were rescheduled) could attend (until they filled up the venue). It was one of the coolest shows I’ve ever seen. What’s really interesting is Sara told the audience that she called several people to see if they were in town (or could get to Nashville) in time to play the show with them. Thank you for sharing your gift of music with the world. You're all excellent musicians, and this rendition is superb. ❤
Delicate and powerful at the same time. Playing quiet is hard to do and this band nails it! In a loud mad world a soft touch sometimes speaks even louder.
Nice job!
killer arrangement, excellent musicianship. I’m listening now.
Holycrap! Her voice is priceless!
I listen to a wide variety of music, and I have always loved Tears For Fears, but now the way Sierra and her band play this song makes me love bluegrass even more.
In all these years of RUclips, I have never heard something so magical! I can't tell you how exciting it was to hear every detail of this arrangement. And what a voice and mandolin! Absurdly brilliant!!!❤❤❤
WOW! Just Wow! Mind blown, chills achieved. This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
How this just showed up on my FYP, IDK - but I sure am happy that it did! These folks can jam! New fan
Best solo I've ever heard on mandolin. Hands down. No question at all. Bless you sister!
Got tears in my eyes, so beautifully preformed...
Magnificent version of a truly great song about the harsh realities of the the world we live in Sierra's mandolin playing is always mindblowing love it.
Really enjoying this version, this kind of voice and any good mandolin play will get me every time. Listening again to them.
That last part..... Where the violin kind of bridges the sound of the mandolin, really makes me lean in. Didn't know what it was I was hearing.
Thanks for posting. I'd like to find more of their music.
Update: Found her, Sierra Hull, subscribed.
Her mandolin playing is so off the charts amazing - and perhaps that results in her singing being underrated. She has such a sweet voice and really knows how to use it in a way that seems almost effortless but which draws out such feeling.
Nice! Though it's really just a cover/remake of Gary Jules cover (the movie Donnie Darko) of the Tears for Fears song. Besides the end solo, It would have been cool to see their actual version of the Tears of Fears song instead of redoing the Donnie Darko version
Can you just shut your trap and enjoy the cover?
Bass Violin and Sierra are awesome with her vocals and mandolin skills. I'm 64 and played with many musicians in my time but I have never heard a lead Solo like that (towards the end) with the mandolin. She blew my mind Well done.
If only the mandolin had calmed down and didn’t give away the entire melody before the song even started in some weird pseudo-solo at the beginning.
This would have been my favorite current cover of this song, but unfortunately they needed to do that for some reason.
❤i have to say this song has reached in to my soul thank you for that you are beautiful and so is your music
I'd had no idea. Sierra's a goddess on the mando, but she can sing too?!? And the girl can SING! Sierra has the gift, and we are all the better for it when she shares.
She has such great emotional feel vocally and instrumentally. Amazing musician
My condolences on the passing of your beloved son. 💐
@@StarlitStar Thank you I appreciate it.
Bloody fantastic!! Great control and dynamics from the band, such a sensitive lovely voice…. and killer mandolin solo…. I mean killer! Great work guys.
Lovely version & so nice to see a mandolin "shredded"
Freaking amazing. Honestly my favorite version.
Gosh, how is it even possible to play such a soulful solo on a Mandolin?
Mandolin solo is a first for me. But then I heard the Blues played on bagpipes earlier so, anything goes 🤪
If you think that’s good, go check out Chris Thile
I just want to clarify: that was GREAT! Just suggesting another Uber talented mandolinist.

I had tickets to two of the three Nickel Creek shows at the Ryman that got canceled in April because Chris was sick.
Anyway, Sean and Sara decided to do a free Watkins Family Hour show to make up for the canceled shows. Everyone she called including Sierra told her that they had tickets to the show and we’re going to be there anyway. Sierra ended up playing mandolin with Sean and Sara on three Nickel Creek songs that night. It was impressive.

Omg 😳
Sounds like a dream
I lost my 6 months ago. Her birthday was 1-5 and I miss her so much. And this pops up. Now I'm alone and nobody hears me crying.
You're not alone. I relate and hear you.
God bless you, and keep you strong.
Poor one! I'm sorry you feel bad. I wish good things for you.
I do cry on brother
EXTREMELY WELL DONE... So nice to see some young people with Actual TALENT...
Nice! Though it's really just a cover/remake of Gary Jules cover (Donnie Darko) of Tears for Fears. Besides that awesome solo at the end It would have been cool to see their actual version of the Tears of Fears song
Wow. Unforgettable, timeless, classic.
Nice! Though it's really just a cover/remake of Gary Jules cover (donnie darko) of Tears for Fears. It would have been cool to see their actual version of the Tears of Fears song
Shredding. Ones of my favs, reminds me of SRV Live @ the El Mocambo, " Third Stone from the Sun". both of these are,
true passion + talent = classic
I don't know why, but I did not expect that voice from her. Amazing performance.
Thanks Tears for fears but Sierra and band members, you take this to a different level. Thank you
Gosh I love classical bassists. I would say it is one of my favourite instruments to hear when played by such a graceful player and is typically way underappreciated. My hats off to you all. BTW, hi from Australia.
I’m officially a fan of Sierra! 🤩
Haunting. A unique version worthy of the original.
The best version of this song...of which there are many.
The word word AMAZING is the only limit we humans have so far to express this but soon we will come up the elliquince to convay how GREAT this is
. With mad respect rik
Wow what a great rendition of the original (one of my favourite songs ever) played on all my favourite string instruments by a band that I had never heard of! Simply amazing mandolin solo near the end!
I love Sierra Dawn Hull's mandolin arrangement of this song. Up until now, I have never heard of her. Truly awesome!
