    This has always been true of him, but another essential and underrated part of Xhaka is his superhuman durability. He seems to be able to play every minute of every game and not get so much as a knock. His work rate, stamina, and durability are so reliable Arsenal fans don't even think about it anymore. What a redemption arc for Xhaka. I am so happy his relantioship with the fans is so good now. But here he is, soon to be 30 years old, in the shape of his life, and playing the best football of his life.

    • @peeper2070
      @peeper2070 2 года назад +3

      He’s had redemption for his mistakes EVERY time without fail. I remember he got sent off against Burnley then scored a free kick weeks later against Chelsea in December 2020- just 1 example of an immediate bounce back. But his relationship with the fans was neutral at best until the start of 2022. I wouldn’t blame him if he never forgave the fans for what they did, but things are fine how they are now.

    That stat with him at KDB and Salah's level is insane. Other comments have said a lot about his on-pitch contribution so I'll say this: Always wanted him at Arsenal, even when he wasn't at his best because he was a true leader. Not too talkative, but there to encourage the team. Fantastic attitude, work rate, and passion. When he screwed up it certainly wasn't for a lack of trying. I'd rather have a good player with excellent attitude than an excellent player with just good attitude, look at Auba.

    I think the fact that Arsenal have the highest defensive line in the league (as per markrstats on twitter) so far is also a major contributor to Xhaka's new role. Because of this, compared to the previous seasons, Xhaka has less distance to cover to reach the attacking third.
    Also having a 'false LB'in Zinchenko has also helped. Zinchenko can play LB/LWB/LM role with ease and technical security and thus this has freed the huge reliance on Xhaka to progress the ball from the back.

    I love tifo but Arsenal have been playing a 4-3-3 with the LB (Tierney last season) inverting and the LCM (Xhaka) going forward since December. We don’t use a double pivot anymore, as we don’t use a 4-2-3-1.

    I've always rated Xhaka. Shame on the fans at Palace who booed him. Shame on the fans of other teams who talked unrivaled rubbish about him. He's always been this good. You just didn't see it because he's not some 25 goal a season, fast-paced guy with a mohawk and an attitude problem

    • @orbee1873
      @orbee1873 2 года назад

      No, he wasn't being played in the correct position. He is now getting his plaudits because he has been great the last 18 months and has been especially good since the start of this season

    • @orbee1873
      @orbee1873 2 года назад +2

      Saying shame on so and so is bollocks because Xhaka was being caught out and underperforming and rash and rightly got called out. Nowadays if people a criticising they have a clear agenda, but back then it was more than reasonable

    • @lllordllloyd
      @lllordllloyd 2 года назад

      As Orbee says: he is a different player now, certainly not 'the same player'. Give Arteta some respect for repositioning him and getting the best out of him, and for seeing in Xhaka a source of strength for the new team... so many are gone but Mikel saw the potential. And of course enormous credit to Xhaka himself for his attitude and determination.
      The very extreme 'fan' abuse was and is always reprehensible but there were very reasonable concerns. I was one of them and I'm so glad to be proven wrong. Rather than being seen as flaky and limited, it seems he will eventually retire as a club legend. Power to you, Granit!

    • @MattitudePlays
      @MattitudePlays 2 года назад

      @@orbee1873 he was still the player with most passes in our team and one of the top in the league at the time. He was trying to make things work in a broken system. There were other players responsible. Mostly our attack were underperforming. It was frustrating to see Emery ball fail and it be pinned on the one guy who worked hardest

    Xhaka's current run of form is something all Arsenal fans know he is capable of and exactly what all Arsenal fans ever wanted from him. It's just a shame it took him almost 7 years to get there. And yes, I am fully aware that he was played out of position for most of his time with us. But that doesn't excuse all those red cards, errors leading to goals (that one against Burnley still haunts me, lol) and throwing down the captain's armband. By all means, shout/swear back at the fans who give abuse to their own players, but never disrespect the club.

    When Zinchenko inverts Xhaka gets forward a bit less and has to drop back to LB to cover but when Tierney is playing like a more traditional left back he has more freedom to go forward.

    From a red carded to a goal hero.According to his phenominal transformation and his long term consistent level, Granit Xshaka is currently the Arsenal's most important player that deserves to conquer the heart of Arsenal fans and Club in general.Thanks to Mikel Arteta for showing us the best version of G.Xshaka.I would him prefer to put this Number 34 a side and move to one of the numbers like 13,15, 18, 19, 20, 21 that are more attractive than his current number in mmy opinion.

    Xhaka is a good player who last season had a poor defence behind him and a stuttering affack before him ,hence the confusion sometimes palpable in his game.. also he was prone to make panicked decisions because he knew if he lost the ball real danger followed.. ...
    He is still rash in his reactions ,a yellow card against brentford for no real reason.. but now he can play with much more confidence , ..

    I felt that he should have stayed. He is only 30 and still got lots to offer to Arsenal. He’s been so consistent this season. He is no longer that guy I hated who would make erroneous back passes leading to opponents scoring. But happy for him to have left as a true gunner and a leader. Glad he stayed on to prove fans(me included) wrong after being seen as a villain.

    I think what we’re seeing is Zhaka is a great role player. For years we just didn’t have him in the right role. Also, the rest of the team wasn’t good enough. The result was him trying to do too much and getting red cards.
