You are right but in the Man U match they totally exploited the spaces. Can you make a video on what went wrong in that match? It was almost the same strategy and the same players. But Antony totally destroyed Arsenal unlike Sterling.
But how do you assess if they are actually being lucky? To be honest for me Saliba and Gabriel had encounter many not desired situations this season... They somehow managed (like in this example)... But I think is due to luck... Can you confirm that this style of playing is justified by the individual skills of their center backs (by using their marking stats)?
the first chance , you are a bit wrong that one. If havertz had played the ball diagonally backwards, then he would've found an unmarked aubameyang. Instead Havertz fluffed his pass and overhit it so it flew past the entire penalty area. Though arsenal "had it covered", had havertz looked up and spotted aubameyang's run into that free space away from goal and saliba.
If's and but's are pointless. If attacking teams always chose the the best option there would be 10 goals a game. And conversely, If defending teams always defended perfectly, there wouldn't be any goals at all. Tactics are there to limit the other team and make yours better. It's impossible to nullify threat altogether vs decent teams. The fact is that Arsenal restricted Chelsea to one shot on goal in the entire match. And they were the home team.
@@Qlicky sure, but what you are saying now is kinda irrelevant here because i'm not saying that players always need to chose the best option. i'm just saying that arsenal's tactics is not what thwarted the attack as the video insinuates. arsenal's defensive tactics often works but in this particular case it didnt really work coz saliba didnt spot aubameyang's movement in the box at all and got fooled.
@@rcmanization So, it's not about tactics then, it's about an individual player not following instructions. The point of tactics is that it usually works. If it worked 100% of the time it wouldn't be tactics. Look at it this way. If you play counter-attacking and your strikers get chances and miss sitter after sitter, tactics still work. It's just that your strikers are not scoring.
@@Qlicky in this case I think it's a case of both, because the tactic is created so that in the end it will be down to individual brilliance of the CB to thwart opponent players should they be able to expose our defensive tactic (which they did when they counter-attacked us and Zinchenko was out of position). And in this case, Auba made a really good run so the tactic relying on the fb's being able to pick runs up didn't work. Luckily the opponent passer sucked so nothing came of the chance
This is why I don't think Arsenal need new players yet. I think they may have enough depth. They are not Liverpool where season to season they need depth to continue competing. I would rather wait one season to see where Arsenal is at an see if they can win trophies.
Awesome analysis. I think I would add that Arsenal need a more efficient LCB who can compete with Gabriel especially in winning back the ball and isn't as prone to the mistakes that Gabriel makes ocassionally. If we do get Evan Ndicka in January I think that's a very good player for our system: quick, decisive, can put in a challenge & is good on the ball. I think the several times that Gabriel switched across the left to stop Sterling he wasn't as successful whearas Ndicka is more agile and decisive in tackling. Much as I like Gabriel, I think a Ndicka-Saliba partnership would be amazing. They're both French so I reckon they'd have better communication between them.
Last 10 years our squad was great and there were a lot of quality players, but defensively hooooo. Mustafi, Luiz, kocelient, and Sokratis, these guys gave me the worest headachake and they really donwngraded Arsenal's glory from 100% to 35%.They made Arsenal a small Club.

But I think is due to luck... Can you confirm that this style of playing is justified by the individual skills of their center backs (by using their marking stats)?
Luck is always part of anything. Players will always make mistakes, whether in attack or in defence.
The point is to get the luck to minimum.
Saliba scored an o.g and Gabriel gave Away a goal v Fulham against Mitrovic, so our goals against column could be even less
Nice to see Eto'o up on the wall 👍🏿
Great Analysis👏🏼
the first chance , you are a bit wrong that one.
Great work.
World class video
As a German, rest defence for Restverteidigung is such a weird translation, I'd rather call it leftover defence 😅
Hmm, I like that
Saliba looks to be Arsenals answer on Virgin Van Dijk.
Wow. You are so brilliant
Great shiftimg across and reducing the opposition dangerous
This is why I don't think Arsenal need new players yet. I think they may have enough depth. They are not Liverpool where season to season they need depth to continue competing. I would rather wait one season to see where Arsenal is at an see if they can win trophies.
2:00 trendy mate
Cant unsee Kirk Cousins doing tactics...
The high line is scary
Glad Arsenal didn't get Lisando Martinez
i honestly feel like Tomiyasu should be picked over zinchenko
What a trendy video!
Great! Just jinxed it.
The Beckham and Eto'o picture frames are not level with the rest.
Had to look away the whole video
Arsenal used to be blame with weak defense before, got sarcasm by other team, but now look where they are now
Arteta masterclass
I never thought it was bad
it is BETTER than you think lol
@@yugam-jain no I thought it was as the video says
The defend like mancity they build up with a back 3
The Trendiest person in football 😂😂😂😂😂😂 other Trendy words like that 😂😂😂 Jon we effin love you 😍❤😂
it seemed like a high risk high reward against chelsea and didn't guarantee defensive security, and on another day would've been made to pay
How do you figure Newcastle and Howe will exploit this ? They love their channel balls
all the trendy words in one video, amazing
Last 10 years our squad was great and there were a lot of quality players, but defensively hooooo. Mustafi, Luiz, kocelient, and Sokratis, these guys gave me the worest headachake and they really donwngraded Arsenal's glory from 100% to 35%.They made Arsenal a small Club.
Yesterday’s carsbao cup was a disaster. Please! Never ! Let that ever! Happen again!!!
Keep those digs at Joe coming. Show him how trendy you can be Jon
Why the Tony Yeboah shirt?
Why not🤷🏿♂️💪🏿
I did not ask to be reminded
Arsenal is still top of the league. It's not a fluke!
I always feared Saliba was going to be the next gnabry… that is sell him and he’ll be a star somewhere else
